bringing you the real splatoon news. live journalism. i tried the baskin robins splatoon sodie.
a hodgepodge of artificial fruit flavor. vaguely citrusy soda with coconut jelly cubes. breaking the little flavor packets was fun. the ice cream is fruit punch, with the little green bits being white chocolate i think? i liked the Bits.
the final image was several minutes into drinking it, having melted into a fruity slurry of green food coloring. the slop. what the media doesnt want you to see.
they did a splatoon 3 BR collab late last year, but instead of the ice cream being tricolor it was just yellow and blue. i honestly liked that one more than the tricolor flavor, im not the biggest fruit punch fan.
my curiosity was satiated, i got a cute cup and sticker, and something cold to drink out of it, so i dont regret it. but flavorwise? it was just. Ok. i wouldnt order it again.

In June and July 2021, there was a pop-up cafe based on WEEKEND GARAGE at the E-DINER cafe located in a mall in the Toshima Ward in Tokyo.
The menu consisted of five items based on the members of Vivid BAD SQUAD and their starting Virtual Singers.
1. Kohane's dream plate, consisting of two peach buns filled with red bean paste, and two sesame balls filled with sesame seed paste. These are Kohane's favorite foods, hence the name of the dish.
2. Colorful punch tea, a fruit punch drink with mint. An grows mint as a hobby, which is why the drink is mint flavored. The drink is also the same color as her image color.
3. Marscapone pancakes, consisting of two pancakes topped with cream made from marscapone, orange slices, blueberries, and syrup. Akito's favorite food is pancakes, and his image color is orange (and Toya's image color is blue).
4. Coffee shaved ice, a coffee flavored shaved ice drink topped with coffee jelly. Toya's favorite drink is coffee, and he is not fond of sweet things, hence the unusual flavor for a typically sweet drink.
5. Tricolor omurice: chicken rice with omelette, ketchup, basil, and broccoli. Designed to match the image colors of the virtual singers - red ketchup for MEIKO, yellow omelette for Len, and green basil and broccoli for Miku.

Mostly I’m just annoyed the splatfest teams have been so unbalanced. I love Shiver and gg to team money (you guys were fighting hard whenever I saw y’all) but 9% is pretty indicative of the larger problem.
Team Fame had 9.10% and Team Bigfoot had 8.69%. When less than 10% of your player base wants your option (no offense team fame love you guys) then you are not picking good themes/good teams for it.
3/8 splatfests have had one team with more than half the votes:
Ice Cream Splatfest - Team Vanilla: 55.04%
Taste Splatfest - Team Sweet: 56.84%
Deserted Island - Team Gear: 58.28%
That’s 5/8 splatfests with massive popularity disparages. 2 of the remaining 3 were NOT EVEN SPLATOON ORIGINALS—they were the pokemon and Zelda collabs (zeldafest has most even teams to date for those curious). The chocolate splatfest was almost equal to the pokemon percentages, with 24-33-42 and 25-33-40 respectively.
This would be less of a problem if it weren’t for the mirror matches. When more than half your players are stuck in mirror matches (and even more in the case of Fame and Bigfoot skewing the splatfest so badly) the splatfest itself becomes disheartening. While I love getting to play the game regardless, a not insignificant number of players don’t want to be stuck in mirror matches all weekend when they don’t give any clout/points for their team.
This also impacts tricolor, as the mode needs all three teams to have a real match. With less than 10% popularity, both Team Love and Money (+ Nessie and Aliens) get stuck in mirror matches regardless of who is most popular until the minority team can be found. And everyone makes jokes about only seeing these teams once or twice when it happens, so you can see how the average (and casual!) player will suffer if this isn’t addressed.
Tl;dr Splatfest teams have large popularity disparages and this causes excess mirror matching/unbalanced splatfests. Splatoon devs need to start doing polls ahead of time or something it’s really bugging me.

Quickly quickly should i pick strawberry in the splatfest because its arguably the closest available to my actual favorite ice cream (strawberry cheesecake) (strawberry cheesecake ice cream is crucially not really the same as strawberry ice cream the base flavor is entirely different which is why this is something i have to deliberate over) or mint chip out of protest for the inexplicable intentional dodging of "vanilla vs strawberry vs chocolate", literally the easiest most obvious and fair tricolor splatfest theme they could have ever done

I do not like ice cream sandwiches I'm not really one for vanilla ice cream unless it's covered in toppings my favorite ice cream is strawberry followed by chocolate im Also partial to blue moon and tricolor sherbet tho I dislike the lime. I also do not enjoy lemon tho alot of people seem to. The two exceptions are frozen lemon ice cream from the zoo its more sweet and a better texture and lemonade from the fair or circus because it's fresh but sweet.
This is honestly the best ask ever because it's just ice cream

Lemon is DELICIOUS and I will not accept this lemon slander!!

Y’know.
The non-Neapolitan tricolor Italian ice cream, this one featuring a green stripe. Maybe it doesn’t exist in universe, but it’s too good a pun to waste.
