I saw some rationalist-adjacents criticizing the DSA for being more radical than the actual minorities they are trying to appeal to, and theoryizing a lot on how mostly-white DSA groups are out of lock with the more conservative communities of color, ie, these groups.

No shit it's SJ boilerplate, the point is SJWs project the way they interact with the world on everyone else. It's like how Californians think people have racist experiences on a daily basis, can't afford housing, and need a $15 minimum wage--that's just what their local environment is like. So the SJ thesis is that whites/men interact with the world the same way the most toxic of women/minorities do, with nepotism and ingroup preference and exploiting rather than growing the pie.
okay and what does this have to do with the definition of "clown" as a political term
I keep thinking back to the disaffected-impassioned bit (essay? tweetthread?) about how America is a clown nation degrading other people by sending in our clown politicians and forcing them to act like they are serious -- clown politicians like Hillary Clinton.
there is absolutely no natural or invented category you can assign Hillary Clinton to where "clown" is the best or even an adequate name for it
every other thing about clowns in a political sense or as a political idea I have ever seen in my life has no meaning more specific than "people or ideas I dislike"
which is a dumb fucking way to talk about things I also dislike!
