Alice takes her to see the stars after everything’s settled. She says that Bella’s never learned to appreciate the beauty of the night sky with vampiric eyes. They lie in cool, dry grass and gaze upwards, at first, in silence.

Bella will be the first to admit that even with her new, sharper senses, there are things she can’t always catch. She hears Alice murmur something about “wrong choices” and “pretty brown hair” and doesn’t ask further questions, even as Alice brushes a cool hand across her forehead. This is normal, sisterly, friendly.

She thinks back to when she was human, in tears because she wanted so badly to not be. Alice had been such a comfort, stroking her hair and whispering that she was a beautiful human girl with all the possibilities in the world, and Bella had shrieked that she had already chosen and wanted her choice to be respected.

Now she is respected, she is powerful, she is loved and hated and feared and everything. It is everything she had ever wanted.

But when Alice points out a particularly bright star, and wraps a hand around Bella’s wrist as they lay in the grass, Bella feels so much weaker than she should be.

An age ago, @queer--coffee requested some Alice/Rosalie thoughts. Thank you for your infinite patience; the headcanons have finally arrived home from the war.

When Alice first wakes up as a vampire, she sees pictures of this impossibly beautiful, blonde woman in her head. At first, she’s confused. Is this... a relative? A friend? Somebody she should talk to? And then, she’s hit by the image of herself kissing Rosalie-- that’s the name she can’t stop saying in the vision, anyhow-- and she gets it. All of which is to say that a very chipper Alice appears on the Cullens’ doorstep and tells Rosalie that she’s going to marry her.

Rosalie’s a reasonable person. A cautious person, even. Alice’s announcement kind of freaks her out. Sure, the newcomer is a little cute and desperately eager, but... nope. Rose isn’t dealing with this. She runs off into the forest for a bit.

Alice doesn’t follow. When Rose comes home, Alice is sitting on the porch steps. She apologizes to Rosalie. Admits that she came on a little strong. Asks if they could maybe be friends, after a while. Rosalie, who doesn’t mind Carlisle’s tendency of collecting anyone who expresses an interest in his philosophy, agrees.

Here’s what Rose notices about Alice over time: the littlest things charm her. New dress? Joy. Movie? Delightful. Rain? Perfect, a gift, 10/10. It was nice, being in close proximity to so much happiness.

And it’s equally nice, making Alice happy. Rosalie doesn’t quite get it, but she’s stopping on her walk home from school to pick the first violets of the year to bring to Alice. What’s the matter with you?? she wonders, and the only thing she comes up with is how much she likes it when Alice smiles.

Their first kiss is in June, when Rosalie’s hiding indoors and fixing a car. Alice is perched next to her, asking a million and three questions, and.... look, Rose with engine-grease on her nose is really darn cute, okay?
