왕의 남자 | THE KING AND THE CLOWN (2005) dir. Lee Joon-ik In the years of the infamous King Yeon-san, two clowns start a play that is satirical of the king and become popular among the common people. But soon they get arrested for treason, and they bet their lives on making the king laugh with their play acting. Their fortunate success leads them to stay in the palace and perform regular plays. As the king shows growing attraction and love towards one of the clowns, they realize that they are into irreversible stages of their lives, entwined with desire, power and thick blood. September Accomplishments

The Book of Life (Movie) This was such a pretty movie with a cute story. All of the character designs were so fun.

King and the Clown [Wang-ui Namja] (Movie) I was really surprised how much I liked this movie. It wasn’t what I had expected before watching it. I would have liked a little more closure for the ending though...

Tell No One [Ne le dis à personne] (Movie) Another movie that didn’t really go as I expected. It was a really good mystery movie with a nice touch of humor here and there.

Blade of the Phantom Master [Shin Angyo Onshi] (Manhwa) One of the very few stories that took unexpected turns. I usually can predict little things in a story, but not this one. I absolutely adored everything about this series and would love to buy it if it ever comes out here.

Lucy (Movie) Dear... god... I’ve never watched a movie like this one. I try not to completely judge a concept in a movie being stupid but... no. Just no. I cannot pretend to believe that the brain can magically do things like they did in this movie.

Stranger Things: Season 1 (TV Series) So much love for this series. It is everything I love about Stephen King stories and more. I cannot wait for the second season.

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart (Game) - Platinum It took forever for me to get there but I finally finished this game. It was a lot of fun but I still get tired of tactical RPG really fast. I think my favorite part was seeing all the characters based on other games. The story was good too, but I liked the characters more.

Rick and Morty: Season 2 (TV Series) Dear god I love this stupid show so much. It’s just so wonderful, silly, and stupid.

Little Witch Academia (Anime) This was such a cute show. I can’t wait for the series of it!

Little Witch Academia: Enchanted Parade (Anime Movie) Still cute, adorable, and I love the characters so much.

Kubo and the Two Strings (Movie) A beautiful film with a nice story. It was a little predictable but still very good.

Masquerade [Gwanghae: Wang-i Doen Namja] (Movie) This was such an entertaining movie. It was fun yet serious. The only thing I didn’t care for was the ending... which is pretty common with Korean movies.

The Danish Girl (Movie) The people could be frustrating at times but I thought this was a good movie. It was fun to look up the real people afterwards.

The Classic [Keulraesik] (Movie) I thought this was a super cute movie that actually took a turn I didn’t expect. I would love to get this one eventually if possible.

Firefly (TV Series) Why did it have to be cancelled? I completely adored this show. Everything was just so fun. At least I have Serenity to watch though I feel I might regret that...

Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (Game) The story was a little slow after the initial intro but I really loved this game. I was a little suprised by the route it ended up taking but I cannot wait to play the other games.

Chappie (Movie) I did not expect this movie to go as it did. It was a little weird but still a pretty good movie.

Once (Movie) A very... unusual movie. There wasn’t a whole lot to it but it entertained me for a little while.

Birdman (Movie) I’m torn on this one... It was a good movie but I expected more Birdman and superhero kind of things. So it through me off a little.

Son of Batman (Movie) I’m really enjoying all the Batman animated movies so far.

The Boxtrolls (Movie) So cute and silly. I’m really loving all the Laika movies! I cannot wait to see what they do in the future.

666 Park Avenue (TV Series) I really loved this series except for the obviously rushed ending. It was fun with a nice amount of creepy horror. I wish that it didn’t get cancelled... or that it at least had a better ending.

Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed (Game) - Platinum Another nice addition to the Neptunia series. I had missed play hack-and-slash games so it was nice to jump back into one! I was both sad and thankful that it didn’t have many characters

Actually, I Am... [Jitsu wa Watashi wa] (Anime) Everyone is just so amazing and I love them! This was a really cute show. As soon as I finish another manga or two I’m going to try to get back to reading this one (only read one chapter then got distracted like always....)

i just rewatched king and the clown aka wang ui namja because i can’t sleep anyway and wow i really watched it when i was too young and completely missed everything the film was saying lmao i cried so much

more ramblings under the cut

OH BOY i watched it when i was 14 and completely missed the gay text-subtext

also missed the back story of the king and noksu which was what i loved in the drama Rebels lol

AND missed the vague they-all-dead ending

i was not uhhhh very bright in this department lmfao

(i watched it for lee joon gi back then, even rewatching it now for his amazing acting like wow his gait and mannerisms plus the adrogynous beauty ugh ugh ugh)

the theme song makes me cry on cue now fml gong gIL TTTTTTTT

i can’t stop rewatching it it’s so sad!!!! i’m addicted to watching to sad stuff!!!!
