she’s eighteen, almost an adult when a man with a business card approaches her on a summer afternoon she had spent busking in the park near her home. he offers her an opportunity to escape the chaos of her home, the unsure future plans due to a lack of proper funding for her to pursue university, an opportunity for her to be a star instead of a nobody struggling to keep her family running and lixue hesitates to accept. she’s never pictured herself as an idol, as someone people feel attracted to, someone people want to be or want to be with. her mother insists she should do it though, her younger sister urges that if lixue doesn’t take the opportunity she’ll never talk to her again and it’s that that convinces wen lixue to move from china to korea.

moving to seoul all by herself while speaking close to no korean was... a definite a struggle. there were some bumps along the way, but she managed to connect with the other trainees regardless of the language barrier. as expected, the biggest obstacle proved to be dancing as lixue had never danced before in her life.

at twenty four she debuts in distich as one of the leaders and as one of the oldest members, she finds a pressing responsibility resting on her shoulders, the need to have it all together for her group in the same way she would do for her siblings, to be a reliant and comforting presence even if that means to erase her own problems and being on the wrong side with new age's ceo, it isn’t easy.

she’s thankful for every opportunity she gets to perform and has come to adore being on stage but there’s always a constant ache in her heart that makes her want to go back home and take care of her family.

THE STORY

She is one of the youngest duchesses in China at the moment. She inherited the title from her brother who passed away three years ago. It was difficult to go from the nonimportant spare to the most important person in the family. She, however, made her seat at the table hers very quickly. The duchy of Shanghai is ruled by her and her two equals who are both dukes of Shanghai ( here is a brief introduction to the dukedoms of China ).

She works directly under Lixue who is the grand duchess of East China. Lixue did not think much about the Duchess — she assumed the woman would end up being an unimportant tiebreaker to her colleagues. Lixue was wrong. It wasn’t too long until Shanghai had become the Duchess’s little kingdom. Even though the power and influence was supposed to have been divided into three parts, she somehow had more. Her ears heard everything, her eyes did not miss a single thing, and her head processed every bit of information it received. Lixue had to notice her. Had to give her time and attention. There were people you could ignore and know you missed absolutely nothing... and then there were people like the Duchess. 

The Duchess became Lixue’s favourite. Lixue was not shy about the favouritism. It did not take long until the whole court was perfectly aware that the Duchess was under the oldest princess’s protection. The Duchess’ influence skyrocketed. The third of Shanghai she had had paled in comparison to the shard she suddenly had of whole East China. 

Lixue and the Duchess have a very symbiotic relationship. The Duchess has more power, she inspires admiration and fear now, and Lixue has someone whose loyalty she does not have to question. The Duchess is privy to most of Lixue’s secrets and Lixue has written her a role for the next political grand play that is about to happen in China.
