1 & 2. Baselayer tops and bottoms- Arcteryx, Patagonia and Florence Marine X. Worn under a T-shirt mostly in colder weather or maybe under a mid layer in super cold weather. Long bottoms all Patagonia and underwear Saxx and 2Under.

3. Running/PT shorts and swim trunks- all Florence Marine X.

4. Hooded Sun Shirts- all I wear in sunny and hot conditions when teaching. 100% Sun protection and cool wicking. Can be used as a base layer in a pinch. All made by Florence Marine X. Best hood and cuffs of any other sun hoodys on the market and it’s not even close. I’ve saved many a people from severe sun damage/heat exhaustion just this year with these. Combined with Odyssey Cargo pants from Prometheus Design Werx you can comfortably work in high 90’s to well over 100 safely and effectively. There are even a few MIL units using these hoody’s now that they’ve seen how useful they are.

This is a write up I did as a review for the Estival Festival in Kankakee Illinois September 2023. I originally posted in on my band’s (Bluprint) Facebook page. I wanted to do something a little different. It’s more of a short story of my day at the fest disguised as a review/ write up. Hope you all enjoy!

I rounded up the corner where the sidewalk would end, leading to a bridge that went across the river. It was a good idea to walk, I thought. Short cut.

The bridge gently swayed as I crossed the water. The clouds threatened rain, but it ended up being a good day that saw only a light drizzle. Light shower to stay cool. Any Kankakee area native with their sanity knows that fall hoodie weather is the best time of year. Midwest vibes. Hurt- your- face cold winters. Hot ass summers. And falls you wished would last longer, of course.

I keep on past the baseball field.

Step forward, the louder the music.

Trees surround the bandshell. The Don Palzer bandshell, a stage that will be used the right way today. Situated naturally amidst a natural amphitheater of rugged rock and trees. I came from behind the action, catching glimpses of the drummer's head, the vocalist too, but branches covered the rest of the band. How do they load their gear up the rock like that? I would find out later that the answer was; efficiently

I think that’s Melodic Industries inc. They're good. The music made me feel like dancing. I put a little hop in my step. The sign coming in said in bright oranges and light blues; ESTY FEST.

When I got to the entrance of the festival, I was greeted by friendly security guards and the smell of pizza. The pizza smelled good, but I needed something quick. The next truck over had waffle hot dogs. Fare Square.

That hit the spot.

The music had everyone smiling and greeting each other. After meeting up with some friends, we walked over to where the beer was sold. It was great to see two places that I already trusted and liked; On The Rox and Ryan’s Pier, supplying the fresh cold brew. Melodic industries wrapped up a great set. Next, we got to headbang. My favorite. Ephinepic crushed it. The metal vocals were on point.

Those vox were wet .

“What are you grinning at?” Blain Smith said. He was capturing the festival in high definition video. Recap set to be movie quality from the man himself.

“This band is sick. I’m gonna check out some vendors.”

If I would have come prepared, I could have added onto my modest retro game collection efficiently at the fest. Three tents of awesome pop culture stuff and video games. I considered getting Pokemon diamond for my rusty old DS, but the wall of funko pops distracted me.

I used the well placed and convenient porter potty and hand wash station, then made my way to the other part of the fest. On the way, I noticed a play area for the kids. Thoughtful, family friendly. The neat vendor tents seemed to go on forever. No complaints, that’s a positive in my book. Everything on display was interesting. Halloween right around the corner? Plenty for that. Flowers. Sports. Wood werx creations. Art. Jewelry. All leading up to the second stage, Faber financial stage. The second stage was the perfect size, and placed in a great spot past the vendors and plenty far away enough from the main stage.

I made my way back to the Art and Sol main stage when I heard The Katzpa Jammas start. I was delighted at the beautiful high notes, with grit, and a talented band to go with it. From the moment they began, I was locked in and captivated until the end.

As the sun went down, Vaudevileins and Luck of the Draw killed it. The energy was up. Neon lights bounced off the rock and bandshell. A sight to see. Everyone is dancing and having a good time. And this is a free show, I thought.

The vibe came and it stuck.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay all night.

I trudged up the hill and around the back of the main stage. Carrying torches, a band that sounded pro as hell (and has a knack for sounding better all the time) was my soundtrack as I left the festival. Who says there's never anything to do? I would have paid to get in. The purple, blue, red and random colored stage lights illuminated the little cove. The cool breeze came off the water and hit my face as I rounded back to the bridge.

Every step, the music got a little quieter.

I smiled, still happy I decided to walk. Things like the Estival Festival can turn a shit day good again, if you let it. Events like that can provide a creative spark, if you let it.

I was across the bridge, almost home. The music faded, but it was still there in the background. The hurt-your-face winters and the hot ass summers seemed far away.

During that walk home, I lived in the moment and realized that I had been the entire day. Music, and spending a day with good people in the community could have had something to do with it.

Or it’s just about having a good mindset, I thought.

“Nah, it’s the music.”

Uwerx is a new crypto that has recorded significant success from its presale stages up to its official launch, which took place on August 1. Its success can be attributed to its features, its vision for crypto and freelancing, and the agile methodology adopted by the developers. However, Uwerx’s success so far has not come without some hurdles, which it always tackles immediately. Shortly after Uwerx’s official launch, the platform got hacked. The Uwerx team has been making significant efforts to counteract the hack and reinforce Uwerx’s security. On that note, they have decided to relaunch WERX, which we will discuss in this article, as well as Uwerx’s successful launch, post-launch moves, and the hack experience. Uwerx’s Launch Exceeds Expectations; Developers Set To Expand The Platform Uwerx’s launch left everyone in awe of how successful Uwerx as a crypto was. Both investors and users bought the value-driven WERX, which made profits for its holders. Right after the launch, Uwerx’s developers returned to work to expand the Uwerx platform further and ensure it delivered on all its promises. This platform deployed liquidity on Uniswap. In order to assure transparency and sustainability, the developers have locked their tokens, which will last for 25 years, as previously mentioned. They are still working towards giving up smart contract ownership immediately Uwerx lists on centralized exchanges and will soon submit applications to CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap. Uwerx platform is not a completely developed platform. Project Management, Client, and Agency are at the center of the main functionality design. Pages including Freelancer Dashboards and Additional Settings have been done. Other sections of the Uwerx platform, like the Help Center, Login, Privacy Policy, Settings, Security, Create Account, and Finished Payments, have been completed. The native community will have the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) by September. Community members can rigorously test this platform to ensure it meets their expectations. After that, platform developers will work on appealing premium designs using the feedback received. The team plans to launch weekly buyback campaigns to support the Uwerx platform. The times and dates will not be released to avoid anyone gaining undue advantage. Uwerx’s Flash Loan Hack Shortly after Uwerx’s successful launch celebration, the platform got hacked, with the attacker stealing around $327,000. The attacker flash-loaned 20,000 ETH ($36,726,400), which he swapped for 5,053,637 WERX. Afterward, he sent 4,429,817 WERX to the Uniswap pool. This amount was ten times more than the prior balance, creating an imbalance. He then utilized the skim() function of Uniswap with the address 0x00…1 as the “to” address and the transfer function of the Uwerx contract, which modifies the sender’s balance first. An extra 1% of the WERX tokens were burned since the receiver’s address was a UniswapPoolAddress variable (0x00…1). The hacker stole 176 ETH ($327,000) by exploiting this imbalance. Uwerx’s Phoenix-Like Recovery Rather than get intimidated by the attack, Uwerx chose to see the challenge from a different perspective and make something out of it. On that note, Uwerx will be relaunched, and things will be different and better this time. Firstly, the team contacted the Uwerx auditors, SolidProof, and InterFi Network to alert them of the hack. They also contacted PeckShieldAlert and SlowMist_Team on Twitter. Afterward, they put out a white-hat bounty, asking the exploiter to return 80% of the stolen funds and keep 20%. Since Uwerx will be relaunched, the contract address will be changed. So far, Uwerx has thoroughly assessed the new contract address. It has shared that address with the community to see the tests done. However, it will be free as the audits are done. Uwerx’s contract address will go through audits by one independent contractor and two established and reputable auditors. This is to ensure top-notch security for the new WERX.

There will be liquidity for the new WERX to ensure its stability. The buyback campaign will be put on hold, and the funds will be used for liquidity. There is now a no-burn tax and a sliding sell tax entirely directed to liquidity. This platform will charge a 30% sell tax, which will be reduced to 0% at the end of the 10-week vesting period. The new WERX will be deployed on Polygon. This is to help token holders use their WERX without bridging and to reduce gas fees. So far, the new WERX has been deployed on the Polygon MainNet, and WERX holders need to add the contract address to their preferred wallets on the Polygon Network. An airdrop will be done for users who bought the WERX tokens on the Uniswap exchange. This is to ensure their tokens are safe and provide fair treatment for all. Also, this change will not affect those who bought WERX when this crypto asset was in the presale stage. The Uwerx Vault is almost ready for use and the platform aims to deploy it as soon as possible with the new WERX. Auditors got their smart contracts and once the results are in, the deployment process will begin. Uwerx’s whitepaper and website will be modified to reflect the changes. The tokenomics will also be adjusted to: ● User Performance Incentives: 6% (45,000,000) ● Presale: 57% (427,500,000) ● Liquidity Reserve: 14% (105,500,000) ● Marketing: 9% (67,500,000) ● Team Tokens: 6% (45,000,000) ● Partnership Incentives: 2% (15,000,000) ● Joining Incentives: 6% ( 45,000,000) Also, following the presale results, the team will burn 25,499,071 WERX. Pants and shorts- All Prometheus Design Werx. Best pants and shorts I’ve ever had. Super comfortable, designed to withstand abuse, smart pockets with EDC and 2A attributes and made in USA. The synthetic material cuts wind and sheds light rain. I use the Odyssey Cargo for summer and can barely tell its pants. For colder weather I use the heavyweight Raider pant. Shorts are Raider as well. Lastly, they clean up and dry quickly and you can go to dinner or a meeting in a pinch without screaming tactical.
