Ok, Feldup recs post!

Mostly my opinion (which is wildly positive) on his most recent album, Stared at from a Distance.

Warnings, this entire album talks about Feldup's SA from a woman twice his age. It's hard to listen to, it was hard to listen to for me, who suffered through no such experiences and isn't triggered, squicked or made uncomfortable by many things.

First, I'd advise that you listen to the entire album all at once (which breaks throughout if needed), in order and with lyrics (there are subtitles in the linked video). I promise it's worth it. Now for my favorite songs :

Stared at from a Distance (2nd track, 12:06), is obviously incredible and one of my faves. It's pretty long and is way more explicit on what it's talking about than Waters (4:55), the first track (which I really liked too, the music video for it is excellently made as well). I really love the way the instrumental and beat switches throughout to accompany the story, and the end of the song made me think I was going to cry (I just needed to sneeze but tbh it's still crying material). Really good, if you listen to only one song in the album I think it should be this one. (Side note, I'm also wondering if I didn't hear part of that song when I was at Feldup's concert - it was before the album was out, but you know. I don't think I heard all of it, but maybe I just forgot).

Naked and Afraid (3rd track, 3:11) is very good and picks up very well after the second track. It makes you understand that this album really is a story you're following, and you're going to get every detail of it. The following track, Dizzy (4:11) is transitioned to so well I thought it was the same song (it's also excellent), and Fear of Abandonment (4:07) right after is like. Painful. /pos

Shove it (6th track, 03:39) is honestly terrifying to listen to, and it works very well for its subject. I don't even have much to talk about for this one, it's just really good. The 7th track, Moment of Sobriety (5:30) managed to be even scarier, because of how real it gets then (if that makes sense. The whole album is painfully real, and it reminds you of this regularly).

Crying as a Weapon (8th track, 5:20) is where I had to take a break. I think it might be one of the most relatable songs for many people who were abused, not just sexually.

Death of an Illusion (9th track, 10:23) is the other very long track of this album and it is, unsurprisingly, incredible, and one of my absolute favorites. It's also one I could relate to a lot, and its progression is very satisfying. It Never Leaves (9:09) is similar to Death of an Illusion, its continuity, and its ending made me incredibly happy.

The last one, To Love Again (4:49), is the song I enjoyed the less, musically speaking, but one of my favorites nevertheless, and a perfect ending for the album in my opinion. It also has a shift in the... well, not the narration, but I guess the message, somewhat (trying not to spoil because it's so incredible to realize to me), which entirely convinced me this is actually my favorite album of all time construction-wise.

In conclusion, Oh My Fucking God this is so incredible.

Feldup is a great person who writes incredible texts and makes excellent music. The constructions of his songs and the way his story is told throughout eleven tracks is beautiful and heartbreaking and hopeful, and it genuinely is currently changing my brain chemistry /hj. It is so good. It's on Spotify and Bandcamp for sure, and I think it's on most other streaming services, and you still have the Youtube video I linked at the top. Please give it a try.

I'll quickly give my favorite songs from his other album, A Thousand Doors, Just One Key, but they're all really good too : Falling Apart (2nd track, 4:08) which is his most known song as far as I'm aware and is a fucking banger from the first notes, Mental Health (6th, 4:25), Attention (3rd, 3:54), and Stockholm (10th, 11:21), which holds one of my favorite lyrics ever (There is no cure/I am the disease).

I'm assuming this is from the perspective of how they'd express jealousy regarding a partner/companion e.g. someone was flirting with them in front of the interests etc.

Athy - She's a little odd in that she has definitely been jealous before, but she doesn't... understand that's what it is? So she doesn't really express it? She's just kind of like, 'huh... that feels uncomfy... I should go read to distract myself until I feel normal again'. Reading is how Athy processes 99% of her emotions, the other 1% is letting off steam through fighting--

Cai - They are far too secure in themself to feel jealous, it would be super difficult to make them jealous and if you tried they'd either think it was cute, or if you went too far they'd just cut you off, because they expect a certain level of loyalty. They do like making others jealous though--

Helios - He always looks very stern and icy, but when he gets jealous, it somehow becomes even more so, as he will try to hide it, especially in public because he doesn't want to break social rules and ettiquette... but if he is pushed too far, then he will intervene and make it very clear, in no uncertain terms, to whoever is pushing their luck, that they should probably leave before he makes them leave... through the window /hj, and then he takes his partner away, ignoring the inevitable gossip that surrounds him from such a declaration.

Il - Hahaha... haha... ha... 😰 he's gonna bottle that up inside so that you can never tell anything is wrong, as he subtly and smoothly removes you from the situation/away from the person in question, until he can go off and... 'handle' the cause for his jealousy later without you ever knowing. Though, the one change you might notice is him showering you with even more love than usual, and whispers of how you're his. 😌

Jed - He is oddly possessive of those who he considers 'his', and it's been a while since he's had anyone that fit that spot in that void where his heart should be. When he gets jealous he kind of goes from 0 to 100 real quick, there's that moment when his ever present toothy smile just... drops. He handles it about as well as you'd expect a serial killing monster to handle jealousy tbh. Which is not well. At least for the person flirting with his partner that is. Once he'd handled them, full of adrenaline and bloodthirst, he'd whisk his partner away to remind them exactly who and what they are with.

Farren - Judy is gonna hit you with a frying pan-- /silly. She stews, you'd be able to tell she was annoyed, but she wouldn't verbally express it for a while, but you'd be able to tell on her face she wasn't happy. Once she has processed and felt her emotions she would sit her partner down and have a super mature conversation about boundaries and how you both can handle these situations going forward in a healthy manner.

Eos - Someone is getting punched. When I say someone it'll be the person flirting with their partner. It's almost funny because they insist they never get jealous, but they are a very emotionally reactive, and are likely to react first think after. The only situation where it might be different is if their partner was deliberately trying to make them jealous and was the one doing all the flirting, they'd still be annoyed, but they would at worst threaten the other person and make it clear that their partner is taken.

Noah - If someone was flirting with his partner and they didn't seem into it, or seemed uncomfortable, he would be right in there to help them, and with the sweetest smile he'd get the other person to leave. Kill em with kindness kind of thing. If his partner was flirting back, or the one flirting, he wouldn't do anything, he'd just bottle up his feelings and put them in the same place as his self-doubt and his feelings of guilt, and he'd brace himself for his partner to say they chose someone better than him. s!3v3n headcanons bc i've been thinking of him and nobodys specifically requested s!3v3n yet? just my default version steven ( post incident post Manicness ). also yea dating hcs too This is an x reader blog primarily you should expect this by now

♡ S!3v3n isn't an alternate personality of Steven's. I mean like ok technically but not in the DID way. it's just basically steven when he's manic or incredibly upset. he will most of the time go into this form when he feels these intense emotions that he can't exactly grapple with or handle. especially anger or rage or revenge and things of that sort. aliken it to more of a werewolf transformation but like personalitywise. does this even make sense.

♡ despite this S!3v3n can be passive, but he's always on the defensive in some way or another. he's always protecting something he loves from any danger no matter the cost - usually you or miki.

♡ he can loosen up in this state of course, but usually just when you two are cuddling. physical affection seems to soothe him easiest, as he'll just relax and de-tense a lot, but will still hug you nice and tight. he also might purr but who can say. smiles.

♡ prefers he/it, while steven prefers he/they. state of mind based secondary pronoun changes we love to see it

♡ not missingno possessed per se but missingno fucked with a lot of his body, mentally or physically, which is why he gets like this sometimes. missingno isn't possessing him ( missingno does not have desires it is just a jumbled mess of code that can do whatever it wants because it's not supposed to exist ) but being around it made him go a little bit insane, basically. ♡ he still speaks in a lot of noises over words, and if he has to speak usually does it in very short sentences, but unless he wants to talk he'll always opt for just silent communication or little noises.

♡ tends to growl a lot. notably, steven grumbles and groans and sighs, but never growls. s!3v3n growls and hisses and snarls. things like that. he's more animalistic and impulsive.

♡ due to his impulsive nature he doesn't make the best decisions. s!3v3n is mentally unstable ( not like steven isnt but as said, s!3v3n's emotions are much stronger than stevens ) and very clingy. he does things with 15-35% good intentions, at least to him, and the rest of that percentage is impulse. what he wants in the moment. he's more passive than he used to be when steven was actively fucking killing people, but he'll still be like this sometimes. although, most of the impulse is when he's angry and towards people he doesn't know, doesn't care about.

♡ i state this like he's actively really shitty to be around but nowadays tbh this just shows in s!3v3n not asking you about things and just doing them most of the time. if he wants to cuddle he'll grab you and take you to bed and cuddle with you and you Aren't escaping his arms. he's still mindful of your needs to some degree of course, but he's just sorta like that. this can obviously still lead to discomfort and disagreements though.

♡ he'll be more mindful about it if you seem genuinely upset with him for doing these things, though. although since his emotions are heightened he has bad reactions to being rejected in any way so he'll just lock himself in his room and avoid you because he thinks you hate him ( or is scared of getting angry and hurting you, because hey, he's hurt loved ones over accidents and disagreements before. ) it'll usually take half a day and then his 'being loved' battery runs too low so he gets over it and walks back into your arms with your permission and snuggles up like a big cat.

♡ very very prone to moodswings and is easy to upset. this is a lot harder with anybody he's clingy or protective towards but can still happen. but like i said, easy to soothe with physical affection from his loved ones. he's a moody black cat except a black cat that's like, 6'8 feet tall. and is a lion.

♡ s!3v3n's a lot more buried within steven these days since he's less actively manic all the time, but he'll still come out, usually after traumatic experiences or when steven is extremely upset and can't handle himself. often times he'll lock himself in his room if he can figure that he's about to lose control of himself for everybody's safety. the last time he let himself get lost in his intense emotions he let that control him for like 1-5ish years and killed like 3 or more people and also flew to johto for some reason ( escapism, s!3v3n sort of fucking hates kanto due to how everyone there treats him ) and killed one of those 3 people there.

♡ extremely overprotective and clingy. steven himself already is, but s!3v3n basically just makes his emotions 10x worse. he will not let you leave his sight 99% of the time, will cling onto you literally, and hold you extremely tight in bed so you don't leave because he's kind of selfish and likes your warmth and everything else about you. he'll let go with an annoyed grumble if you have to go to eat or go to the bathroom or something, but he'll let you go. he might follow if he cares enough.

♡ s!3v3n specifically is way more obsessive with miki. she's out constantly when s!3v3n is, getting so much attention. sometimes even more than you. miki's his main priority even if she's perfectly fine and alive - at least to him. you are an extremely close second though, sometimes tying depending on how he feels and how close steven is to you normally. if you're dating but like, only recently, s!3v3n will basically still care about you but will barely be around you unless you need something or come to him first. but if you two are very close he is all fucking over you and is as obsessive about you as he is with miki sometimes. have fun! ( also obviously if you don't fuck with miki this pisses s!3v3n off way more than it pisses steven off. So don't be rude!!! )

♡ he does not go outside for any reason unless it's at midnight. the last time he did he flew to johto and beat a kids ass for no reason. he'll go on strolls in his secluded little forest area of pallet and maybe fly with miki to take his mind off or to go somewhere to do something cryptic, but otherwise he stays holed up in his house as usual. he's much more active than steven though, often pacing or sometimes stomping around if he's upset.

♡ speaking of which he doesn't engage in most activities other than ones to keep him alive like eating and whatnot, but. the exception to this is videogames. canonically, probably, since its noted that he loves videogames and has old consoles. which is really fucking funny. imagine him with his scary ass red eyes and messed tangled hair growling and yelling at a multiplayer game or something. ( he is very competitive </3 ) ( canonically, he probably wouldn't even have any newer consoles with online multiplayer. but for the sake of my headcanons he does. )

♡ likes to cuddle up with you sitting on his lap while he plays games or watches tv or something. another easy way to soothe him.

♡ because he's clingy, this also means he'll take you literally everywhere he goes because he's too afraid and paranoid of leaving you alone. the only time he doesn't is when he himself is going out, is sure you're safe and won't try to do anything, and is sure he'll be quick ( for example him getting a midnight snack and then just coming back to bed after )

♡ type of guy who triple-checks everything - if locks are actually locked, if doors are closed, if wires are working and connected properly ( iykyk ), etc. so does steven, but as per usual, less than s!3v3n.

♡ if you like try to go to the store or something he'll be staring at you like an upset dog the second you get close to his homes door for any reason. he will not break eyecontact until you leave or move away from the door. he'll peak outside just to make sure you're safe, but will try to leave it alone despite his mind desperately telling him that something bad will happen to you if he leaves you alone.

♡ extremely easily jealous. if you ever somehow were to rope s!3v3n in an actual factual public setting ( likely via doing so with steven and something happening to make him s!3v3n during that ), he'd curl his form around you protectively, a hand always on you. it grips tighter whenever he's jealous - not intentionally to hurt you, but just out of impulse.

♡ hair is a lot more wild than usual, sometimes floating a bit off the ground, sometimes even longer than normal? it's also usually even darker than normal, too...

♡ although steven has cooking knowledge when s!3v3n's there, he doesn't really mentally care enough to cook so he just eats frozen meals. its why.. most of stevens kitchen is full of frozen and easy to make meals - because he was in a much worse mindset in most of his years of living at his somewhat decrepit home. said mindset being called Whatever the fuck S!3v3n is.

♡ s!3v3n loves physical contact as mentioned previously, but one thing he likes is to hug you from behind or to rub his cheese-grater feelin' ass chin stubble against your shoulder or something like that.

♡ that borderline certainly can personality a disorder! goddamn!!!!!!!!

♡ he's clingy! obsessive! jealous! terribly paranoid! has a lot of emotions he doesn't know why he feels or how to handle! but he still loves you at the end of the day, he's just easily upset and doesn't know what you want sometimes.

♡ he finds anything strange or new a threat most of the time and will either be cautious or defensive around said things. most true of people, least true of items. i feel like if you poisoned him he wouldn't even feel it so he wouldn't care ( although he does check food for poison if hes giving it to you or miki ). due to this if you want to order delivery or something he will be like "we have food at home." but in a less verbal sense ( probably just dragging you to the kitchen and scrounging around for something to eat that doesn't require social interaction )

♡ while pokemon avoid steven and leave him alone, pokemon and people fear s!3v3n. it's like a magnet aura of people leaving him alone out of fear. this is also kind of canon in strangled red after he gets missingno, where every npc turns away from him after he obtains it. it's not like s!3v3n specifically ever willingly goes out into public settings anyways, but if he were to nobody would bother him out of fear.

♡ if you two run out of food he dreads going to the local pokemart but does it begrudingly, being silent the entire time and just throwing food he wants or needs into his cart. he uh. he doesn't have money after the events of strangled red ( unless he stole mike, gold, or That one kid he presumably killed in strangled's wallet. ) so i don't know how he pays, he just does. or he steals at the dead of night via breaking in. either works. if someone catches him he just turns slowly and stares. the glowing red eyes usually convince them to leave him alone.

♡ he really likes putting his hands through your hair. its soothing and calms him down.

♡ s!3v3n isn't only active when stevens going through an episode, it's just 99% of the time when it happens. but when he just comes out through normal(ish) means, he's pretty passive. just quiet, giving single word responses usually and following you around his house with intrigue. he likes observing you passively throughout the day. just looking at you makes him that much calmer.

♡ sorry if you don't like being stared at s!3v3n does that a lot with his big glowey red eyes. the 'tism. he's staring at you lovingly if you can't tell dw

♡ if anything hurts you he will fucking go after whoever did it. you have to hold him back from seriously hurting anything or anybody. he just growls and stares at whatever hurt you in an attempt to hold himself back but make his intentions known. despite steven himself getting better to a degree, s!3v3n isn't one to be messed with still. He will actually beat your ass and possibly kill somebody over things still, just not as easily since he's ever-so-slightly more well adjusted than he was a few years back.

♡ the only difference is the s!3v3n back then relied on miki and various versions of her to take care of annoyances. s!3v3n nowadays will just beat somebody's ass with his bare hands for the hell of it if they piss him off enough and especially if they are trying to hurt you.

♡ if you two don't live together he'll collect various knickknacks you lose at his house and stash them somewhere safe, close to his bed as a good-luck charm of sorts. he's unironically not trying to be weird, he just thinks its cute and is a little too awkward to tell you that something of yours is left with him... he wants something to remember you by as cheesy as it may seem.

♡ s!3v3n is especially careful to not squeeze you too tight due to s!3v3n allegedly being stronger than steven since he's more emotional in this state than steven is, but at the same time he likes squeezing you a little roughly, but not enough to be uncomfortable. just in a playful and affectionate way. obviously he's mindful of it though, this is the version of steven that did snap his brother's neck after all. as much as he wishes to forget about that.

♡ s!3v3n holds grudges like a motherfucker and will not let them die. he's obviously more forgiving towards partners and usually flags relationship issues as his fault, but he will get vindictive and upset sometimes regardless - he just tries to not act on these feelings and have a moment to himself so he can calm down instead of immediately acting on it like he used to.

♡ doesn't eat a lot. s!3v3n usually comes out when stevens manic / having an episode / extremely depressed, which. Symptom of depression number whatever; Not taking care of yourself. which steven already does, but like stated many times before, s!3v3n is always way worse about stevens flaws

♡ if you like mostly solitude and if you don't like when stevens all snarky to you sometimes, s!3v3n tends to be more quiet if he's happy as stated before. he's just happy existing around you.

♡ often times he'll do his own thing while you do your own thing if the two of you don't want to be super touchy. parallel play behavior. it's usually him taking care of miki while you do whatever hobbies you have.

♡ face is usually shaded over way more than stevens and thats the main visual indicator along with his eyes being glowy usually. which should be known but In case it isn't. oh also he's probably taller or bigger sometimes in this state.

♡ he has a lot of issues but he's trying his best! big scary animalistic boyfriend who is always thinking of giving you a little smooch and cuddles all over.

♡ i'm writing too much and a lot of this boils down to the same things so im sending the fucking post and worrying about it later. amen.

♡ tldr the type of dude to wrap his arms around you tight to his chest and growl at any sort of threat. overprotective clingy boyfriend x 10.

Time to procrastinate rant about my comfort show, and a particular episode of said show that has me giving a side-eye.

It's under the cut so I won't annoy anyone who isn't interested, but the episode I'm referring to is Impeach Fuzz, from the 1998 television cartoon, the Powerpuff Girls.

To summarize the episode, The Mayor runs for mayor despite the fact that no one ever runs against him. His redundant, and very loud campaign tour through Townsville annoys Fuzzy Lumpkins, a fellow citizen of Townsville, who tells him to "shut up". This act of standing up against the Mayor impresses quite a few citizens and before you know it, they vote for Fuzzy Lumpkins and he wins the election, fair and square.

We then see the Mayor depressed and possibly homeless, in an attempt to garner sympathy. Our main protagonists, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, (as well as our beloved side character, Ms. Sara Bellum) are also not pleased with Fuzzy as the new mayor. He calls upon the Powerpuff Girls to help with tedious chores around his office.

The former Mayor then confronts Fuzzy, and they eventually agree to a wrestling match, where the winner becomes the Mayor of Townsville. Fuzzy brings along a few family members, while the former Mayor tags in the Utonium family. Eventually, the Mayor wins and the episode is over.

Here's my gripes with this episode.

#1. Fuzzy won the election fairly. So for the Powerpuff Girls and the Mayor to conspire to impeach Fuzzy, when he technically did nothing wrong, has me a little heated. Aside from "trashing" his office (and forcing Ms. Sara Bellum to dress more provocatively), Fuzzy didn't commit one crime. This episode is giving me January 6th vibes tbh. /lh /hj

#2. The wrestling match was rigged in the Mayor's favor. Fuzzy had the Mayor pinned for more than three seconds but that referee took his sweet time to call the match. The Mayor then pins down Fuzzy and suddenly, the referee counts to three faster than the girls could fly home. Tsk tsk.

#3. Back to my first point, Fuzzy did nothing wrong. The chores he had the Powerpuff Girls do for him weren't any different from the Mayor asking the girls to open a pickle jar. It's not as if Fuzzy was less competent than the Mayor. The girls should be used to being tools for the city, but that's another discussion for another day. Buttercup also complains specifically about how they haven't fought crime in weeks since Fuzzy became Mayor, which is a very interesting line. You could interpret that as Fuzzy not caring about what happens in the city, HOWEVER, that would be very out-of-character for him. Fuzzy's main character trait is that he's very territorial over his belongings and property. His second character trait would be his short temper. As the mayor of Townsville, the city is essentially now his property. Given how detail oriented Fuzzy was to redecorate the office, and how happy he was with winning the election earlier in the episode, tells me that Fuzzy was willing to take this job seriously and that's more than anyone could ever say about his opponent. Based on this, I'm willing to make a few theories as to why Fuzzy never called the girls to fight crime. Either 1.) The criminals in Townsville (save for Mojo and HIM) respect (or fear) Fuzzy Lumpkins enough to not mess with anything he might deem as "his property" or 2.) The crime rate in Townsville has dropped because The Mayor isn't EMBEZZLING funds from the city so the citizens don't have to resort to crime to make ends meet.

#4. Let us dig deeper into my second theory, shall we lol? We see the Mayor living on the street after losing the election, as if we're to feel sorry for him. YOU LOST FAIR AND SQUARE, GET A JOB. What annoys me further about this episode is that throughout the show, it's implied that the Mayor is wealthy. He had a one of a kind porcelain poodle, a stash of jewels hidden in his office, and even states in one episode that his "sugar daddy days are over". So if he's dirt poor after losing the election, we can only assume that the Mayor is living his lavish lifestyle BECAUSE he's the Mayor. We can even take this one step further and see that he's easy to bribe, as seen in the episode where Princess Morbucks becomes the Mayor and was bribed with candy.

That's pretty much it folks lol.

I’d also just like to preface this post by saying that everything that is said beneath this paragraph is my opinion. If you like the fandoms, tropes, characters and ships I don’t like, or vice versa, that’s awesome, and I’m really happy you find enjoyment out of something I personally cannot. But I’m also not looking to have my mind changed, I’m just disclosing what I think and that be all. 💛

3) What is your most popular fanfic?

A glance through the hourglass.

Statistically speaking it’s actually my second most popular, and when I finally post the kurtbas fanfic for the Dalton series it’ll probably end up in third, but it’s the one I get the most interactions with outside of AO3, and tbh as much as I still love my historical fiction fics, I’m much prouder of this one. (Despite the fact it’s two chapters long rn-)

4) Do you write original stories as well?

Uhm, not really? But sometimes when I want to show a fic to someone that doesn’t know I write fanfic, I copy the document, switch up the names and a few plot points, and then show that instead, so I guess in a way that’s somewhat original, but not really. I have had ideas for original stories though. (And the Jacky bio doesn’t count.)

5) What fanfic of yours should everyone have read?

I’m not confident enough to claim anyone should have to read any of my fics, but if you’re a kurtbas shipper and you haven’t read the start of AGTTHG, it would mean the world to me if you did- /hj.

6) What is a fandom will you never write for?

Uhm…I don’t really know. I guess H*rry P*tter, but that’s mainly because the fandom freaks me out and the queen of terfs doesn’t deserve anymore exposure unless it’s negative. (It’s also just not really my thing and the only character I remember liking was Sirius, which I think is basic take?)

7) What is a ship you will never write for?

Seblaine. Really really not a fan of Blaine and I thought watching those two interact was like watching wet cardboard disintegrate, says a lot that Blaine didn’t shake off Seb’s attempts or even disclose that he had a boyfriend when they first met, and I also think Sebastian deserves somebody on par with him mentally and emotionally, which Blaine just isn’t. The only reason why I’ll even write Klaine is if it’s in the context of them being together at the start of a kurtbas fic, and then they break up. So overall anything to do with Blaine, but Seblaine especially.

8) Archive of Our Own, FanFiction.net, Wattpad, Tumblr, etc. which platform do you prefer?

I was introduced to fanfic on FF.net at around the age of 10, I would read vaguely on Wattpad from the age of 12-14, and although not through this account, I’ve been on tumblr since 2015/2016, AO3 was actually the last site I discovered and to start with I found it too complicated to navigate, but I think within the last 5 years it’s definitely become my favourite platform when it comes to fanfic.

9) What are your favorite fanfics?

I don’t think I can pick, I have so many, but I’ll link some of my faves off of the top of my head.

10) How do you stay motivated to finish what you've started?

I just try not to pressure myself, and I keep myself updated in the media. If I’m feeling a little downbeat when it comes to Sebastian ideas, I’ll listen to his songs or watch his clips from glee, sometimes I’ll just read fanfic about him or listen to the playlists I have centred around him, I just surround myself with things that feel like ‘Bas. If I’m feeling motivated enough to write something away from my main projects, whether that be kurtbas, childhood Seb (lots of this rn), or even Niff, then I will write whatever I’m feeling. I just let my emotions and mind create, and I have no apologies. Updates will come when they come, and when I’m happy with them, which has helped me wonders.

I used to have a very unhealthy relationship with writing fanfic, to the point where I would bang out a 1500-2500 word chapter within an hour, check it over once, and just throw it up there. This really burnt me out because I stopped writing for fun, and more so for reader satisfaction, and I ended up loathing everything that I wrote because I knew I could do better, but was still so desperate for interaction that I almost didn’t care. Now my chapters are 7000+, carefully edited, sometimes even beta read, and I’m much happier with them, and I’m a lot less concerned with reader statistics, so when I do get wonderful comments or DMs, it makes them feel even more deserved. Now that I’ve found a system that is writer friendly to me, I find that I haven’t lost interest in my projects because I’m actually enjoying what I do, even if updates are separated by months. I’m proud of my work, and I think that makes all the difference.

So to shorten that, my advice would be to consume the media as much as you want, and be kinder to yourself about writing/updating.

11) What's your longest fanfic?

I don’t really have an answer because I’m not too far into the game again where I have a lot of finished works to compare this too, but my chapters are now always 8000 words+, so hopefully soon I’ll have an answer.

12) Do you want to break your readers' heart or make them laugh?

I like to do both. I like to make my readers feel all sorts of things, but I would say I’m more tailored towards angst/Hurt + Comfort. And I’ve actually made @ultravioletmorning--light cry before, which I’ve been told is a tough job.

13) What is your planning process?

I used to have a very strict planning process. I would write a short summary for each chapter and make sure I knew what went where, and then I would write it out of order. Now I just have an overall direction of where I want the fic to go, a few key plot points that need to happen to move the story along, and some key characters listed. I have two new multi-chapter fics in the works, both kurtbastian, which will be fully written, or at least over halfway, before I start publishing them, just to make sure I’m as devoted to them as I am to AGTTHG, but this is new waters for me, so I wouldn’t class it as my current planning process.

14) What have others criticized about your fanfic?

I’m very lucky to have not received much criticism, and if I have it has always been kind and constructive, but I would say the concern I get the most of would be my wordiness. Sometimes I talk a little too much, and this shows through my description. I often struggle to find the balance between ‘too much’ and ‘not enough’, but I am thoroughly working on it.

16) Do you use sentence starters, writing prompts and/or fandom headcanons for your fanfics?

Very rarely, but sometimes I’ll see HC’s or sentence starters that I like, and I’ll see what I can work with.

17) Do you use/follow advice from writing blogs posts?

I do have a writing board on Pinterest that I will use mostly for synonyms, but those are posts from all sorts of blogs and creators, so I couldn’t pinpoint exactly who I follow and why.

i’m an intp-t and my hobbies mainly include reading and playing games, i’m bisexual and use she/him pronouns!! i also have hardcore depression anxiety and adhd lmao :,) i’m unintentionally sarcastic which might come as rude to some, that’s ironic considering that most people see me as very trustworthy since i have a tendency to try to help everyone around me as much as i can. besides my two roommates i also have a cat who i love very much :,)

when i was younger i used to be more sociable and honest but through the years and after certain events i developed hard trust and commitment issues(which makes kinda hard for me to maintain a relationship but i’m trying my best!!); now that i’m older i’ve turned into someone very closed up, nowadays i pretty much have only two real friends(even if im invited to uni parties often help). im a medicine student and my main goal is to become a forensic psychiatrist in the future, tbh i had a golden child syndrome and seek academic validation constantly(talk about being a high achiever) lol this kinda makes it hard for me to let go of “control” of stuff and lowkey a workaholic, being stubborn as well is not a great addition. i’m pretty self conscious towards my looks and personality but try my best to not let it show, that comes from my family/“friends” from high school making fun of me bc of my freckles and many scars.

i can play the piano, speak 3 languages and have a waaay younger brother who i used to be a mother figure for, even if we lost contact after some time due to my complicated status with family. i can be very competitive and sort of a sore loser hahaha, however i really admire people that are better than me at something and try to learn with them(so i can surpass them /hj). even if i have a hard time relaxing i can be very outgoing with the ones that i trust(my only two besties lmao) almost becoming a whole different person, i love to make them laugh and make sure that they are healthy :))

im just gonna nab that "dead man's questions" and stick it in between watching part 4 and 5, kinda gives me vibes of like spy secrecy type stuff lol and ngl i was about to search it up automatically but i'm glad i refrained from it now. so the plot follows a character whose passed away? is it some type of flashback or maybe an 'afterlife/ghost' adventure? i don't know which or if either are right so i'm just pulling stuff outta my guessing hat lol

i might just have to accept this inevitable heartbreak either way tbh, just watching characters go on an adventure, have fun, develop and just generally live makes it very hard not to get attached though ig that just comes with the viewing experience. the 'waiting for them to bring the person back' bit is so real though, ngl i always end up forwarding and end up ruining a series for me because "when is this character getting brought back???", to the point i end up not paying attention to the rest of the series lol(/lh) though i'll make sure to not do that when watching jjba :D W series fr

no but truee, the foundation parts make the lead up to the big punchy monster powers bit even more satisfying though :( and jonathan, yeah yeah! i've seen very small smidges of him here and there, i briefly consulted the wiki page of his because i wanted to find a clip of his voice without spoilers and omg he sounds so cool! :D i didn't scroll down any further down the wiki though, there weren't any "spoilers ahead!" warnings but i didn't wanna take any chances :')

oh yeah, sxf is actually a pretty good example of a 'polished' anime artstyle similar to other modern animes tbf, the sharp difference when i try to compare the two in my head made me snort a bit ngl (/lh) the style and story (from what i've seen of jjba and sxf so far at least) are so stark in contrast but they're both so good too (/gen)

"Chainsaw Man is a character-driven story that manages to conclude itself in 97 chapters, and its due to the author focusing on the main characters and its themes," i didn't think it could be explained so simply in word form but that actually does make sense. "All the battle shounen stuff is just being used a medium to tell the actual story, it's not the story itself." just this description alone summarizes it well i'm assuming and now that i think about it, really makes csm stand out tbh. Almost all anime i can name off the top of my head (action/battle genre ofc) really does focus on "different states and nations all preparing to fight one another for [ cue overarching plot point ]." Character development and personal introspection don't tend to be the top priority, well aside from the 'shonen mc moments' such as ya know- tanjiro, izuku, etc.? (/lh) or from what i can gather at least lol

but honestly, i didn't know csm concluded at 97 chapters! the fact the author was able to just- start it, do what he wanted to do and end it as planned (or at least i'm assuming? i haven't seen any articles with the clickbait tagline of "csm creator dislikes/isn't happy about [ ... ]!") it got pretty popular too so that's awesome to hear, and yea true actually, i can see you and other people like denji and the fact that both the "Mineta Minoru is Expelled from U.A. High School/Shinsou Hitoshi Replaces Mineta Minoru" tags on ao3 collectively have over 5.8k fics says enough lol

spy was definitely a very wholesome show and it's just so, so nice to watch the family dynamic form and grow<3 dunno why but i liked how they were able to incorporate bits of yor and loid's profession into their parenting styles what with yor helping to cause the iconic damian scene and loid with attempting to sneak in to change anya's grade lol, but oh! what's your thoughts on franky? ngl i kinda love all the goofy stuff he pulls and gets twilight to do lol, but yeah tbh yuri's bit of being secret police and his scenes with anya are some of the only highlights of his char i remember when watching ;; (/lh) obsessive brother still kinda shocks me with how it's pretty prevalent as a trope tbh but also what's your thoughts on bond? also what was your favorite and maybe least liked episode or mayb chapter of sxf?

I remember reading 'Kichikujima (Freak Island)' quite a while ago, I remember it's pretty gorey though I don't know if it qualified as phycological horror? Don't remember too many details so I may be wrong, but oh yeah! I don't know for sure if you were reffering to these types but I kind of made some terms for it lol, idk they're pretty simple labels

Jumpscare Horror - self explanatory, there's a lot of jumpscares and "dun dun dunn" type music/scenes right before the jumpscare.

Gore Horror - I assume this is where kichikujima falls into? Typically, zombie and slasher movies fall into this one lol

Phycological Horror - what you just described :D and ngl ig the name for this one is self explanatory enough lol

yes ive watched the first naruto it didnt end on a bad note or anything, and i started shippuden and he was suddenly like fucking 16 so i put it on the backburner (for whats been... 4 years now.. i dont think ill get to it ever honestly naruto was fire though. when he would transform into that.. posessed fox form i ALWAYS had to rewind and watch the scene again. idk if its top 3 anime :grimacing: like people say but its not a bad show either (i watched it instead of reading it cuz it was Free) for characters i LOVED naruto. ofc i did hes the mc but like hes such a cool kid honestly. the kinda kid everyones friends with in primary school (apart from in show). the entire main gang was great but naruto and kakashi were my top 2 .. and gaara now that i remember him i liked him more than naruto when i watched it tbh-- he was just so angry and emo and fine ive matured past the age of calling fictional characters attractive but when i was 11 i was in love with him honestly heavily disliked sasuke. which is ironic cuz i hated him for the reason i loved gaara he was so angry and emo all the time-- but he hurt naruto with his edginess (technically gaara did too but i excuse it.) also he was just being a bit of a asshole. like anime rival esque asshole but an asshole nontheless this is getting long so i'll get to the show itself honestly. because its been so long i cant remember what i really disliked the stuff that i can remember are just dumb stuff that all older animes do i guess all the "sexy-jutsu" stuff were kinda off-putting plus jiraiya as a whole. i loved him but damn he was WEIRD i had to google what the sannin were cuz i genuinely forgot-- but i think theyre cool jiraiya is a bit icky, the blonde one (forgot her name) was pretty funny- i liked her dynamic with sakura and orochimaru i think his name was; was so cool. his entire look influenced who i am today i owe it all to him /hj

death 13 is both the episode name and the ability name of the person in that episode and- id wholeheartedly recommend subbed for jjba a LOT of the jokes only work cuz its japanese, aswell as the emotions in scenes personally i dont like dubs since i find that its usually more "colorful" in its original form (for that reason i generally cannot watch korean dubs of animes.. they just throw me off ever-so-slightly

jonathan looks better in the anime than the manga to me, but this is mainly because i dont really like anime characters with muscles as big as. uh.

the hercules-corona borealis great wall :grin: and in the anime they werent as ginourmous its a REALLY good thing arakis art style did not stay the same for the entire series honestly picturing the later characters drawn the way the first parts were drawn is honestly whiplash-inducing

this is the best thing i could find ^ and honestly it looks cool as hell- the artist is really talented but with the art style i just cant envision it would be as lighthearted as sxf is it carries its own vibe to it

if youve already heard that eren dies it wont pack as hard of a punch (the punch being that THE main character died) but it will still tug on your heartstrings, if you dont know the specifics. i wont say its for mikasa, but more for everyone really eren. is honestly a result of knowing too much thats what i love about aot really.. theres no bad guys other than the big man eating monsters, but even those monsters arent truly bad everyones doing what they have to do, and thats most evident in eren once you sit down and absorb the lore its gutwrenching for remembering what i watched... i honestly have no way of tracking it. theres been a good few times i watched a show, and then realized id finished it already i probably shouldve done that, but theres no point to it now so i just use memory (which honestly shows if a show is good or not-- theres a lot of shows i immediately think of despite having watched them 3 years ago/ ex: death note, erased, jjba, and school live) (and yes thats the correct way to use the way tangents)

thats whats great about csm its not just ur average battle shounen, and its battling is second to its characters whenever i see debates abut goku vs naruto and such its just like the main thing anyone got from the series was the fights (which is fully valid) but like.. there usually isnt much character depth this is usually combatted by making the characters one character trait- something that csm flips over idk what im on about. its 11 pm and i havent slept in 2 days im so sorry if this comes off weirdly written

csm was a really short read and im so happy about that since as you said, fujimoto did what he wanted, finished, and was satisfied with it hes also working on csm part 2- which is not from denjis pov it has a whole different protagonist ive heard, and takes place somewhere else i wont be reading it, since i dont want to start anything i cant finish, but i do push you to once youve finished jojo/killer in love/ other things you feel like reading

it is really nice that yor/loidś work influenced the way they parent (esp with how yor tried to teach anya to defend herself from bullies) franky was a fun character- i liked his disguises he got from loid

bnd is cute i dont really have anything to say about him.. the whole looking into the future thing is cool though my favorite chapter has to be the one where loid is convinced yor is upset with him so he takes her to a bunch of different places.. but she was just in pain after a mission bad explanation but you get the memo i hope

i wouldnt say ALL scenes are the exact same quality as everything ive been showing, but everything is generally *really* pretty

^that was a generally regular scene, so thats just how the art is as a default its really beautiful (also that guy with white hair is the arata i mentioned-- he isnt bad in comparison to all the other ¨bad" characters.. hes just sorta a prick)

i honestly,,,.... shouldnt have said hoodie guy isnt as bad hes really bad but morally speaking white hair guy is even worse so he isnt as bad, but he isnt tame either, esp later on all your points are getting across just fine btw :grin:

i havent read kichijuma before, but i searched it up and it honestly looks really cool like really cool it has 24 volumes from what i read though so i dont think ill check it out

of the three you mentioned, i dont like jumpscare horror its just lazy same with gore horror if thats all there is to it i dont really enjoy horror mangas/animes much in general minus a select few, but for games im all for them (chillaś art's stuff is great) people i think don't like psychological horror because its more of a thing that gets to you (?) in contrast to with jumpscares or something, that it hits you and youre scared and thats sorta that you dont really shriek in fear over psychological horror, which is what some people look for in horror (yes uzumaki is the swirly one) oyasumi punpun,... is... about punpun and him traversing life (him and his family are drawn as birds. everyone else is drawn normally. he is human) i would usher you to check it out yourself :thumbsup:

also- i started dororo, but i never finished it i probably should tonight since i cant sleep ill tell you how i feel about it if i get to it (no promises though)

i get the one piece demographic is manga loving teenage boys but i guess its just dissapointing that he just... chooses not to put effort into his female characters

ace loses things a lot. like, constantly. but the others will always be able to lend him a spare of whatever he's lost, or offer to help him look for it. he lost his textbook? that's alright, riddle has a spare from his first year. he lost his shoes? deuce supposes he can lend ace his other pair.

riddle's never had much time to (or even be allowed to) use devices, so he doesn't know how many video games or social media works, but the others will be there to teach him the.. wonders of the internet. they're very supportive and helpful (or in ace's case, very teasing) when riddle tries to play some video games.

riddle's very particular about his note-taking (to nobody's surprise). he has many highlighters (which are in nice colours too, because he dislikes the bright neon ones) and he changes the colour he's using every day also while following a specific order (in the order of the colours of the rainbow :D),

^ riddle's got those "aesthetic" school supplies (especially highlighters) and his collection grows because of trey and cater giving him some more nice pens and things

they are all cater's #1 fans for his magicam account(s)!

they take lots of photos together, too, like after completing some tests, or before/during/after unbirthday/birthday parties, after baking, during study sessions or general hangouts, etc. everyone frames their favourite ones and keep them in their rooms.

ace and cater are the ones who add the most songs in their shared playlists. riddle and trey like to play it while they're studying.

the others letting riddle traumadump about the stuff that his mother did or made him do while growing up,, and they all offer any support or comfort they can give

omg and they always try to attend all of ace's basketball matches as often as possible!! they are his best supporters >:)

ace would also swap the sugar and salt to prank people. cater and deuce (even though they were trying to convince him not to do it) will keep watch if anyones coming down the hallway while he's swapping them so that they can warn him. for some reason the prank Never Works™ on trey. but, it'll definitely work on riddle every single time! obviously, it gets him collared, but it's worth it.

trey had a 'phase' when he was younger where he thought that birds were the absolute best and coolest. no i will not elaborate

they all had emo phases at some point tbh 💔 /hj

okay y’all know me no real analysis here only vaguely coherent ruminations but i like to give my thoughts so here we go (and the typical disclaimer that these are just. my opinions. got me some thoughts, that’s all). in no particular order i am literally just rambling:

so first of all on the thing itself like. tbh i was bracing myself for the writing style to be a bit rough considering cc!wilbur’s not used to the prose medium and there was some unpolished stuff but as a whole like holy shit. there were some things in there that had my jaw dropping just on how good the writing was

and now on the lore uhhh haha c!crimeboys are home they’re home and i’m not normal about it i’m sorry but i can’t be. the. the whole. “i have been wrong but never lied to you, tommy.” the clear and consistent care for each other even as c!wilbur accidentally hurts him through his reaction to the question. the way c!tommy so obviously wants to stay with c!wilbur and the way c!wilbur obviously wants him there, calling the base theirs, and yet continues to distance himself from him at the same time, excluding him from the majority of the horse scheme. this is fine (it’s not fine)

the paragraph. the paragraph where his mind’s like a firework. won’t paste it bc it’s long but like. i am losing my entire goddamn mind. might do a close-reading on it english-class style a bit later but like. holy fucking shit. just at a glance we’ve got c!wilbur faking it til he makes it, having no clue what he’s doing (lotta brains but no polish haha geddi--[gunshots]), that thing where you start a task but then lose motivation to finish it (he is so mentally ill), describing his mind as a mess. “scared but confident.” my god. there’s so much here

c!quackity almost dropped his poker chip. he gets excited when c!wilbur comes to see him and then pretends he doesn’t. he poses in his office waiting for them. god he’s so pathetic (affectionate (derogatory (affectionate)))

the fact. the fact that the festival parallels were so clear. the fact that neither c!wilbur nor c!quackity could put aside their pissing match to work together. the fact that c!tubbo had to watch as once again, no one saved him. and this time, one of them really, sincerely could have, in a way that would have been highly difficult or even impossible to pull off at the festival. this time, there was no schlatt to stop them, no crowd of enemies. they could have done something. they fought each other again, and again, the kids paid the price. this was a mirror of the festival in one of the worst possible ways.

and then someone does save him. who’s that coming in with a steel chair?? it’s c!ranboo and the steel chair is called character development and a death with narrative weight (pls don’t come for me this is /lh and /hj) (also this would be his second canon life, yes? that was what i got from it)

the fact. that c!wilbur has once again unintentionally hurt someone. the fact that this is his fault, and he knows it. the fact that he didn’t mean to, that he never wanted this to happen, but that it did anyway, and the consequences don’t care about what his intentions were. this is so fucking delicious

“Wilbur felt alive.” i don’t think i could write a more impactful final line if i tried. he felt alive, with all of the grief and guilt that entails. he felt alive, and honestly, i won’t be surprised if he has a moment where he wonders, again, whether that’s a good thing. he still believes that he’s the villain, after all, and as much as he doesn’t want to die, this is going to bring up a lot of uncomfortable connections to other events.

this is unhinged and not a fully-fledged thought yet, but: maybe it’s fine as long as he’s the one getting hurt. it’s fine as long as the explosion is hitting him. or, in this instance, the horse, and c!quackity’s emotions. which will then presumably bring backlash on him, and it’ll continue like that, and it’ll be fine. it’s fine as long as it all goes according to plan. but he doesn’t account for other people. he didn’t account for how (or couldn’t believe that) blowing up l’manberg would hurt others, and how his own death would affect people (because he was the villain and no one would miss him, right?). and here, he didn’t think that c!tubbo or c!ranboo would get involved, that they would interfere with his plan, that they would get hurt. but now they’ve been caught in the crossfire, and he’s going to have to confront everything that’s wrong with how he’s going about things

this is the rock bottom. this is the ‘worse before it gets better.’ this is the kick in the ass he needed to truly begin a redemption arc. this is the challenge to his worldview. this is the start of something. and i think he’s gonna need a few more things to get there, but this is an excellent set up

i have more unhinged thoughts about his pride and self-loathing, about how one covers up the other, about how they’re entangled up in each other to the point where it’s dangerous to himself and others, how his confidence is half real and half a front to cover up how scared he is, about how even when trying to get ‘revenge’ he still shows a terrible lack of self-preservation (burgundy to a heist?? sir please), but like. that would take a whole other post i think

something about his repeated turning off and on of the lamp is also. hm. reminds me about buttons in pogtopia. reminds me about knowing nothing will happen, but secretly, sort of hoping that something would. notable, i think, that when he was doing that, nobody else was in the room with him. nobody else was there. who would have paid the price, if the redstone wasn’t right?

on a more lighthearted note. “You are a walking second place medal.” the sickest burn. get his ass. i swear i love c!quackity i would just also love to see him get wrecked <3

i need to wrap this up but. “Did you steal his eyes? I would’ve stolen his eyes but I’m built different.” cc!wilbur really does understand c!tommy like nobody else, huh. there were some things in here that surprised me, but this wasn’t one of them

in summary, holy shit are we in for a time my dudes, i cannot wait to see where this goes from here
