The writing is not too complex but says so much in very few words and that's an art to master ! Loved Yeonjun and Soobin's chemistry, and you gotta love a nicely executed bad boy Yeonjun. The OT5 banter was clearly the highlight here ; if you want some comical, sweet, cozy moments with all the members of TXT, you'll love this !!!!

I'll preempt all of this buy saying that this month was rough and full of irl stuff and my wordcount definitely suffered for it, with February clocking in at 13,106 words, plus another ~2000 words that were technically written in Feb on my phone but won't be counted until I put them in the document.

This ties out February with December, my previous lowest wordcount month. Meanwhile January saw a high of about ~30k, so all in all I'd say it still averages out to the 20k-ish that's been about normal for me.

Current wordcounts:

OGYGGIYHNBGL - 118,002 total (Chapter 2 - 19,891 and going. I had hoped to have this chapter finished this month, but I ended up working on ch 3-5 while I straightened out some storybeats. Hopefully this will be the month)

Gift fic 1 - 9045 (it'll be like 30% bigger?)

Gift fic 2 - 4904 (it'll be bigger. It'll be so much bigger)

The Vacant House Behind Our Home - 15,037 total (Chapter 3 - 4698 and about halfway done. Will be longer than the first two chapters combined. Meanwhile Chapter 4 is sitting right behind it, 90% finished and raring to go)

I still feel like the same person I've been - 20,893 total

Then there are the miscellaneous oneshots I'm working on, but those will simply be the length they want to be.

Format borrowed from @coffeeandcalligraphy (here). Genre: Adult apocalyptic fantasy. Status: Currently drafting (wordcount updates at end of post)

Synopsis: A day that begins as a host to Calla’s great aunt’s funeral comes to an end in the middle of nothing more or less than a zombie outbreak. Miles from home and without any sort of vehicle, Calla must make it home to her family - her pack - before something happens to them (or her). At her side is Sienna Bradley, the weird kid from high school all grown up: a powerful sun witch who is a force to be reckoned with. When they take on a ten month old baby to save his life, things only get more complicated.

Setting: small country town USA. Vibe: climbing over a chain link fence - slicing open your shins on the cold metal. an unfamiliar gun in hand. rage boiling beneath the skin, promising retribution. abandoned cars clog the highway. tripping over a crack on the sidewalk, bloodying your knees, not allowed to cry. the shuffle of the dead, feet scraping across the concrete. wishing, wanting, waiting for home.

Characters:

Calla Singh (POV - 28) werecoyote; blunt but confident.

Sienna Bradley (27) sun witch; flighty but whimsical.

Rhee Moon-sik (24) human; sensitive but level.

"Robin” (10 months) baby; stubborn but sweet.

Calla’s family will also play a part in the story, but we’re not there yet.

Excerpt:

Stepping into the unknown is a force of nightmares, and yet it is one that I take readily; the only other option is to send Sienna out first with the baby, or to never leave this old building until it falls down around us or something drags us from it kicking and screaming. The thought of that is enough to push me out the door, a hand back to warn Sienna against coming right after, and I must face what is beyond the last inch of safe space that I am leaving behind.

Making sense is such a basic thing all fics should have, but the sheer number that don't have that is ridiculous. Like the only reason I might not finish a fic is the writer doesn't warn it has some big trigger things like r*pe in it, the fic is so confusing it's impossible to finish, or they use text talk instead of just words like unless you say the character is texting don't use u or r instead of you or are. I recently tried to read this one that was like 40k, and I gave up about 3k in, since every other paragraph was a pov change, we were flashing back and then in the present but no forewarning as what is what, and the pov changes weren't just because the main two characters it was between like 12 different characters, so you had no idea what was going on or happening.

I think so many people don't understand that, like I recall busting out 30 page college essays, but none of that writing was my best writing, it was my bullshit writing trying to hit that page minimum. Like if you could say it in 10 pages, I would rather you do that, than try to make it last for 30 for no reason other than longer equals better.

Some Wattpad writers became officially published writers and I think that made way more people think they have a chance than really do. Like it's not 2014, your Harry Styles fanfiction isn't going viral, and Netflix isn't making it into an original movie.

Honestly, I see people getting into drama and it's just like, I'm here to look at photo of pretty man, I'm not in that. Like I recently saw those new photos Sunghoon posted, and I started questioned everything.

[ NEW MONTH! Haven't set myself any writing goals the past few months, but gotta mention that September was awesome! I wrote 36K, (20K being for Nnoitra). Haven't hit 30K+ since May, so that was hella! ;O; A lot of it is very much thanks to kind people sending me so many fun asks to answer, I'm super grateful! I also moved Caesar back to his own blog, and that's really helped me get back into writing for him.

I don't want to set myself a goal for October, because I know I'm gonna be very busy this month. >x<// but will try my best to have regular activity! I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I can do 200K for Nnoitra this year.. Which would be amazing, and a double of my wordcount for him in 2022. To Tell the Truth Ongoing Brokeback Mountain longfic, rated M, currently 29 chapters and just under 50k wordcount. Canon divergent starting from when Ennis comes home to Alma after the summer he meets Jack. Very much a what could have been kind of fic with lots of making people (coughEnniscoughcough) talk about their feelings but without easy fixes to the very real obstacles our boys face.

Momento Ipsum, Remember Yourself Complete Old Guard fic, rated M, 6 chapters, just under 20k words. It's a meeting-younger-selves fic with the whole team! Explorations of religion, trauma, and sense of self that I'm really proud of. Communication and how language is woven through identity are central themes, and I taught myself some coding to make two versions of this fic that use either different fonts or different text colors to differentiate dialogue in different languages.

The Measure of a Tit Sailor Moon oneshot, rated T, 824 words. Short, fun, and funny little ficlet about bras, binders, and gender expression starring my favorite senshi, Sailor Uranus, Haruka Tenoh .

Chiaroscuro Complete Star Trek: TOS fic, rated T, 16 chapters, a little over 30k wordcount. Set aboard the Enterprise late in her 5-year mission (so, sometime after the tv show ended). I made up an excuse to stick Kirk and Spock, Spock's parents, and two space hobos one of whom is half Vulcan and actively rejects Vulcan culture all on a starship together. Shenanigans, arguments over cultural values, discussion of consent with regards to Pon Farr, Kirk and Spock finally doing something about their mutual pining, and Uhura winning a full-crew betting pool ensues.

In From the Cold Incomplete post-Winter Soldier MCU fic, rated T (though I should probably bump it to M...), currently 55 chapters and almost 175k--not counting the two pulled-out sort of episode fics that happen between or parallel to chapters in the main fic that add almost another 20k. This becomes a good old "everyone is living at Stark Tower" fic a few chapters in. Very focused on Steve and Bucky and Bucky's recovery from having been the Winter Soldier. I put him in actual goddamn therapy--and this fic long predates the Falcon and Winter Soldier show. Also a major Clint/Coulson plot thread that digs deep into Phil's trauma from having been killed by Loki and brought back. Pulls in elements from Agents of SHIELD and some of my favorite bits from comics. And look, this fic has not been updated in years, so if I'm reccing it I want to be up front about that. But it is not abandoned! In fact, with how life changes are going I expect to be able to get back to work on this fic within the next year and could have new chapters ready as early as Christmas if all goes well. It's long enough that depending how fast you read, it could carry you til then. This is genuinely some of the work I'm most proud of and has one of the most complexly woven plots I've ever produced (which is why it's been so hard for my to pick back up these past few years). If you miss the team-as-family vibes of early-mid 2010s MCU fandom and wish various characters' trauma was handled with more care, then this is the fic for you.

Angel's review : a heart-wrenching and beautiful story ! I absolutely adore the secret relationship trope, especially when it's linked to the music industry. The love Changbin and Hyunjin have for each other is so precious. And the more they're facing hardships, the more it gets hard to keep this relationship alive. And what hurts the most is that their love for each other never fades but grows stronger, months by months, years by years. (Can you tell i loved this story so much ???) It was so well-written, so well plotted, so well developed. This is a stray kids story that sits in my top favourites ever !
