Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men will be celebrating our 10th birthday on April 13 in Portland, Oregon, with a live show at Clinton Street Theater (10 AM - 12 PM) followed by a birthday party at Books With Pictures (2 - 5 PM)!

FINE PRINT:

Both events are free and all-ages-friendly (assuming you're down with your kid learning a few choice swears).

The live show is mask-mandatory; masks will be provided at the door for anyone who doesn't bring their own. (The party is outdoors and therefore mask-optional.)

There will be both party favors (free) and merch (legal currency or barter), the latter including a fancy new 10th-anniversary print by Colleen Coover!

We welcome costumes and other benign silliness.

What none of the podcasts like @xplainthexmen and @ttwasteland seem to realize is that while I AM interested in them explaining what happened during the good issues of a series, I can also read those issues!

I am much more invested in what happens during the horrible unreadable issues. I can not find this out on my own, because I value my mental health.

I also value THEIR mental health, so I respect them also choosing not reading the trash. But the trash they willingly read produces the greatest treasures for me.

#I got to learn why jericho got a lion in his soul tummy #created a giant baby wildebeest #and turned danny chase from a fake bed sheet into a real bedsheet #I wanted to know these things but not experience these things! #I also got to learn all the events of inferno #which is apparently quite good #but way too violent and horrific for me #this is a great service these podcasts provide!

I cant believe they managed to make Doctor Doom look sexier but the latest issues of Runaways sure did. Credits to whomever drew it but that suit/cape combo is AMAZING.

okay i’ve lucked out and am super excited: i wanted to refer to Edidin’s Marvel Snapshot #1 issue and i wanted to talk about Scott’s depicted/intended neurodivergence in my paper, but only had that tumblr post to go off of for citing specific ... citations....... but now i’ve stumbled upon the Xplainthexmen podcast where Edidin tALKS ABOUT IT AND I AM SO GIDDY yessssssss.
