Ooo if it’s okay, can I please request a Soft Yandere Morpheus x fem!innocent!human!reader where she somehow accidentally ends up in The Dreaming and Morpheus is fully ready to let out his wrath at her intrusion, but after talking to her spending time with her, he decides he doesn’t want her to leave, ever, and intends to make her his Queen
You weren't supposed to be here.
Morpheus watched in the shadows as the woman hummed peacefully to herself weaving flowers unaware of the danger lurking behind her. As soon as Mathew alerted him to your presence, Morpheus teleported over in anger. It was only a few months since his capture and his dislike of humans had increased greatly. The dreaming was the only place where he could live peacefully without any worries or fears he would not let a human ruin it.
The birds flew away and the deer and squirrels were quick to scurry. Once Morpheus made himself known the happiness in the air dissipated. He watched as you tensed finally feeling his presence and turned.
“Who are you?” his voice wasn't raised yet it carried such force you were quick to back up. “You're not supposed to be here.” he snarled.
“I-I’m sorry. I didn't know I just sorta appeared.” Your voice was so soft and sweet. It suited you. “I didn't mean to trespass, my name is Y/n.” Morpheus stared blankly at your outstretched hand. You were being kind? Why? You were clearly afraid so why go through the trouble? Was it a trick? A way to get into his head?
A small peep drew his attention behind you. There was a bird wounded by your feet. Morpheus anger sparked up again. “You dare come into this forest and harm its inhabitants.” A sudden force flings you back into a tree.
“Ow.” you slid down painfully watching in horror as he made his way closer. “Wait, please! I didn't hurt it. It fell from a tree I was trying to rebuild its nest.” your small hands were held up as you explained. Morpheus took notice of the small scratches and cuts on your fingers.
As quickly as that anger came it lessened.
One look at your doe eyes and tender expression had Morpheus’s head running. It contained glimpses of fear but no hint of lies. You were telling the truth.
Releasing you, Morpheus took a step back and waved his hand.
The bird flew in circles now fully healed and the scars that once littered your hand vanished.
“Incredible,” you whispered. “Thank….you.” But he was gone.
Morpheus made his way back to his palace. Scouring through the books of his library for information on you. He should have banished you, threatened you, captured you. But he didn't. He couldn't. Despite the way he acted he couldn't find any fault with you. Nor did you harbor any sort of anger, hatred, or evil in you. You were too kind. The animals of Fiddler’s Green were not welcoming to strangers and would have attacked if you held bad intentions. Instead, they danced and sang to entertain you, to please you.
Why? Why were you here? Why was the dreaming so welcoming to you? Why was it he found it difficult to hurt you? Why did he feel the urge to touch you, kiss you, devour you.
Morpheus wasn’t new to the feeling of love. But the emotions inside his chest were different. They weren’t pure or sweet or gentle. They were fierce dangerous addicting. It was only a few hours since he saw you. But his mind was flooding with images of you and impure thoughts. Thought to take you to own you to take your innocence and corrupt it. Your sweet voice will be for him to hear, your soft eyes his to gaze at, and your body? His to ravage.
You were a virgin he was sure of it. He could smell it on you, innocence and purity radiating in waves just begging to be taken away.
“Lucienne.” The woman walked over. “My lord. Have you taken care of the intruder?” “Just about to.” Morpheus smiled to himself. Lucienne furrowed her brows confused.
“Prepare a room. I want it fit for a queen.”
For the next few days, Morpheus waits anxiously for your return. He's made all the proper preparations for you transitioning as his queen. A large bed, mountains of presents, and in case there are any resisting, some lovely chains to keep you still. But he's sure he won't need them for long. Soon enough you’ll learn your place and accept your new role happily. Unlike his former lovers, there will be no mistakes as you’ll never be allowed to leave his side.
Your sniffles and sobs could be heard echoing throughout the room. Morpheus is there with his arms around you. Gentle rubs on your hair as he whispers in your ear to console you.
“I-I want to go home,” you repeated for the hundredth time. Morpheus only smiled and shook his head. “This is your home, now love.” he cooed. “There is nowhere else for you to be.”
You will soon love him and depend on him for everything. Morpheus would become you're only priority as you his. Anyone who gets in the way of that, friend or foe will suffer the consequences.
As his darling, be sure to be obedient and never escape or look in another person’s direction. The consequences will be severe. You could be starved for a couple of days or perhaps be delivered the bloody head of the man who dared to talk to you.
Morpheus is passionate about his love but is equally cruel. Slowly he’ll break you down with love and punishments until you're his perfect wife where he’ll be able to love you and cherish you to his heart's content.

My beloved dreamer,
My heart was captured by an intense and overwhelming passion and you are to blame. Every thought I have is dedicated to you, and the very idea of being away from you causes me anguish beyond description.
I have been watching your steps in my Kingdom, visiting your deepest desires and yearnings. My presence at your side, although invisible, has been a constant in your dream nights. Through the dreamlike landscapes, I have witnessed the beauty of your soul so close and personal.
I feel a deep, mysterious connection between us, something that transcends barriers of time and space. My love for you grows every moment, and the desire to protect and keep you only for me is something that consumes me.
I must request for you to forgive me for any pain my actions may have caused or may cause. My intention is only to take care of you in the best way I know how even if that means taking extreme measures.
I realize that my emotions can be overwhelming, sometimes even frightening and misunderstood, but that's only because the love I feel for you is infinite and uncontrollable. I would do anything to keep you safe, to preserve our love forever.
Remember, my love, that everything I do is because I cannot bear the thought of losing you. You are my reason for existing, the light that guides my way through the darkness of the world. I promise to love you, protect you, and care for you, even if it means going beyond conventional boundaries.
With everlasting love,
Dream of the Endless.

He was in his private booth with no one except Hob. Dream, in the length of his existence, no longer finds the same wonder as his friend, whose very eyes sparkle at the performance before him. But then his ears catch the echo of the song from behind the stage, from deep behind the opera house. "I say, they-" Hob starts, but when he turns to his side, his companion is no longer there. Dream watches her in the shadows, basking in her voice as she sings the song being performed with more heart than he ever thought possible, before making himself known. When he does, she starts, dropping the mop she was using on the floor. The sight of her face excites him. She is laced in nervousness when she manages to ask, "who are you?" "I am your Dream."
I remember how it was before, how it was in the beginning. When he was my Dream, who came to me with sincerity and gentleness.
I look out to the dim lit bathroom as I wash my arms in the fragrant water of my tub. I deflate in loneliness, "will you not show yourself to me tonight either, my Dream?"
A chill runs down my spine when the wind blows across me.
I gasp at the feeling of warmth on my cheeks.
I look out to the empty room, "Dream?"
Yes, my love.
I frown at the sound his voice, for the speaker nowhere in sight.
"Where are you?" I mutter softly.
I am attending to imperative business right now. I cannot be with you in my physical form.
I frown, "you've left me again?"
Sadness creeps up on me when he does not respond.
"You've left me again, my Dream. I'm all alone without you."
I sink down deeper in the tub as I hear him call out my name. My brows furrow at the sound of him.
You are not alone. You are never alone. I am always with you, my love, even when my form cannot be there. Always.
A bitter tear threatens to spill from my eyes, "it doesn't feel like it... are you not going to watch my debut? It's tomorrow night already."
My breath hitches when the I feel a ghost of a touch trail down my spine. Goosebumps rise all around me.
Nothing will stop me from watching you perform.
My heart leaps in my throat. I bite my lip at the thought as I feel myself break into a soft smile.
"I wish you weren't so busy. Then I wouldn't have to keep talking to you in my bathroom. It's the only other place quiet enough for you to hear me."
My shoulder tenses when the sound of his laughter echoes.
My dear, do you think there is a place on any plane that I would not hear your calls for me?
I knit my brows, "but you never respond to me anywhere else, my Dream, only here, and in my bedroom when Meg is not around."
Oh, beloved, there is so much that you do not yet understand about your Dream.
I pout, "then explain it to me," I rise from my tub, leaning on the side, looking out into the emptiness, "I am not a child."
I shudder when I feel a hand on my cheek. I place my own hand on the area, but it's not the same.
In due time, my love. I will reveal myself, my whole truth to you, in due time.
That was the beginning of the sweetness.
I remember vividly, as well, the first time he ever touched me. It was not like how one would touch a friend or maybe even a stranger. He touched me in the way I had never been touched before.
I hadn't understood the concept of the Dreaming yet, and so I was simply shocked to have met him in a park when he came up behind me. He had to explain to me that we were in his realm.
The soft smile on his lovely face at the time was enough to make me do anything he wished.
His lips found mine as his arms wrapped around me.
He did not give me time to ask any other questions spinning through my mind at that moment; I quite frankly didn't mind. His attentions on my skin and the kisses he left were more than enough.
And then he started to lift my skirt.
"Dream," I call as goosebumps rise on my skin. My Dream does nothing but pull me closer and move my clothing away so that he can touch my bare skin.
I jolt and whimper at his touch.
"Hush, my love," he mutters against my neck, "I swear to you that I will bring you nothing but pleasure, just as I have intended all along."
I am still tense when I feel his fingers move into me. I squeak and wrangle against him, but eventually the foreign and inexplicable want that builds within inside my being makes me lean into him and yearn more for his touch.
"My beautiful ge-"
I gasp when I hear my name being called in a panic.
Meg is looking down at me with worry laced all over her features, "have you had a nightmare?"
I turn to his, propping my elbows up as I stare at my friend.
She continues, knowing I was in pure confusion, "you were groaning and whimpering in your sleep."
I feel blood rise up my cheeks.
Meg knits her brows, caressing my cheek, "are you ill, my love? You've got a hotness about you."
"No," I shake my head, offering a bashful smile, "I am well, Meg. It was just my... my Dream."
It would then be Meg who truly experienced a nightmare, unshakeable ones at that. But at the time, I did not know it was my Dream's punishment for interrupting us.
That was what it used to be like living in the bliss of my naivete.
Even though I suppose it was always there, my Dream's darkness, it only became real when I allowed myself to see it.
My Dream started to turn into my Nightmare when I was reunited with my childhood friend, Raoul.
I had obviously been excited to see him again at the opera house. Raoul told me it was destiny. I felt uncomfortable by the idea that my Dream's brother would ever allow such a thing, but I did not tell Raoul that.
Whenever he visited me, Raoul offered me roses for each of my performances that he watched, and he made so to watch every performance I had, even going as far as being a patron of the opera, so to be able to watch me practice.
I, of course, was ecstatic to have my friend around. But Dream did not share my sentiment.
At first, my Dream acted cold. He acted hurt. He told me-
"I've heard his thoughts, he wishes to steal you away, to claim you as his own, to corrupt you," he seethes, gripping me by my arms, "do you want that?"
"No!" I shake my head rapidly.
"Do you want him to take my greatest and sweetest love away from me?" he mumbles, pushing me against the vanity. We were in the privacy of the diva dressing room, as I was now the diva of the show.
"No, my Dream," I frown at him, grabbing his face as he hoists me on the surface. I help him push my clothing up so that my exposed thighs could straddle his hips.
He begins to undo his trousers as he nods his head, "you belong to me, don't you, beloved?"
I lick my lips in anticipation of him while I nod myself, stealing a glance between his face and what his hands were working on, "I am yours, my love."
He pushes against my face with his as he presses a kiss on my cheek bone, "and I am yours, eternally."
I nibble my lips when he exposes himself. I let out a loud groan when he enters me.
"Pretty girl," he praises, "let them all hear who makes you feel this good."
I suppose, in fact, it was my fault that he snapped.
But it was not as though I could control who I dreamt about. And it was not like my dreams were something he should have readily dove into.
Dream had asked me, "do you want him?"
"Who?"
"Your childhood flame," he quips coldly, "Raoul."
I told him I didn't. Why wouldn't I when I was so in love with him?
But later that night, I dreamt of him, of Raoul. I was walking with my childhood friend in my childhood home. We were holding hands the way we did when I was younger. He was recounting his travels to me as we walked around the halls. I laughed when he joked he would steal me away. I joked that I would let him if he gave me all his chocolate.
And then Raoul turned into smoke. And then I was holding no one in my hand.
My childhood home began to crumble, and in my fear and panic, I begin to run. The walls broke down and the ceiling fell behind me.
It was a wonder that I made it outside.
But then I my soul nearly left me when I was grabbed by my arms and faced with a dark face.
A shiver ran down my spine when my Dream squeezed me and quipped, "you lied to me."
I panted as I looked at his face, drawn with fury, loathe, and madness.
"You told me you did not want him," my Dream hisses, jaw tight along with his accusation, "you did not want him to take you away from me, but you do!"
My breath hitches as his hands grab my cheeks and forces me to look up at him, "you think he could ever measure up to me? You think I would ever let you find out your inevitable disappointment?"
I grab onto his coat as I feel fear crawl up my spine.
"What makes you think I'd let you leave me? You are not meant to leave me-- you're never leaving!"
I release a shudder, "my Dream, please."
The darkness and tension on his face begin to unravel as tears begin to streak my face.
"You are mine," he words carefully, "you belong to me."
Out of instinct, I find myself nodding at his words as I repeat to him, "I am yours, my Dream, only yours." My lips begin to quiver as I am overcome by emotion.
He seems to be satisfied with my admission. He withdraws his harsh hold on my cheek and exhales deeply. He leans his forehead onto mine, his arms make their way around me.
I begin to sob into his chest when he pulls me close. He shushes me, "No," he mutters, "no, enough. Hush now, all is well. I would never hurt you, never you. Do not be frightened."
I hide my face in his clothing, he strokes my hair.
"I do not want to see you with that man ever again."
I do not respond to him.
He nuzzles against me as he breathes in heavily, "mine."
I really did try my best to stay away from him, but Raoul was always very persistent. He never liked losing when we were younger, and it seems his virtue only grew as time went by.
I told him we could no longer be friends, and his responses were nothing but childish, because he told me the notion was nothing but childish.
Then one day, he got me to laugh at his attempts.
I froze when Raoul said, "finally, I may be able to sleep well tonight, now that I've heard your laughter."
"Have..." my brows knit, "you not been sleeping well?"
It was painfully clear to me all of a sudden how heavy his eyes were and how tired the smile he gave me was, "I have been plagued by nightmares, little butterfly."
Raoul rubs my chin with the pad of his thumb, "do not grow uneasy by the thought. Your smile is medicine enough to my ailment."
The following day, he would not go back to the opera. Two days after that I would learn that he has not woken up from his deep sleep.
Dream acted as though nothing was wrong the entire time, and in my deep feeling of bewilderment, I began to avoid him-- hide from him. At first it was simply by ignoring him, then once caught, I acted as though I did not realize he was there to begin.
After a while, when I could feel him draw near, I would make attempts to flee him, except, there as no escape from Dream.
"Beloved," he appears from nowhere right in front of me, "why are you hiding?" He reaches out to my cheek.
My heart is thumping wild in my chest when he pulls me close, "was my darling playing a delightful little game to excite me?"
"Dream-"
"Well, I've found you now," he says, peering close, as his hands travel down my body, "I deserve my prize."
My breath begins to hitch when he roughly rips my skirt up. I grab ahold of his arms. His lips curve into a small smile as he watches me. He absolutely relishes the pounding pulse echoing in his ears. Dream leans down and leaves wet kisses on my neck, eliciting soft yelps from me when he begins to suck and graze my skin with his teeth.
"Cover my marks again," he breathes in between kisses, "I will give you more."
I whine when I feel his fingers find their way to my core. I begin to squirm, unsure of whether or not I want him to continue.
“Tell me how much you love me,” he mutters against my neck as his arms around me contrict
"Dream."
"I feel as though I'm suffocating when I’m not with you," he sighs, fingers fondling with my heat quicker, "if you leave me, I will cease."
His breathing grows heavy. He sucks in a sharp breath when I cry out at the feel of fingers enter my pooling wetness.
"Nothing will ever come between us," he croons, "I will destroy anything that comes in our way."
Though Dream's ministrations were something I had grown accustomed to, and even something I looked forward to, there was something about this moment that left a foreign feeling in me.
He made me feel so, so good, and yet, it felt so... wrong.
Then one day, it was I that snapped.
Everything that he's done, giving Meg nightmares, trapping Raoul in a constant state of dreaming, intimidating me then telling me he was nothing without me, all of the twisted things he'd done made me realize his love was demented, and it took performing one of his plays.
He had taken it too far by inspiring the maestro to write about our love story: a man who did the extremes for his lover, and how his lover had no choice but to accept his actions for the alternative was to remained shackled in the dark until his love was accepted.
I overheard the dancers talking about how this was the most tragic story yet, and how they're glad such a man did not exist.
I performed the arias with tears, danced with such desperation. I sang with so such sorrow that the whole house broke into tears.
Yet I saw him through my blurry eyes, I saw him smile at me with satisfaction
He did exist, this cruel lover, but he was not a man, he was Dream of the Endless, the phantom of the opera.
So I ran. I ran leaving everything, taking nothing but a coat and money to get away as far away as I could from my prison of an opera.
It was foolish, I knew. His words echoed in my mind-- "My dear, do you think there is a place on any plane that I would not hear your calls for me?"
The fact was he did not need my call for him to know where I was. But I would rather die trying than not at all.
It was very much like Dream to come and get me when I had myself believing I had a chance to get away.
My carriage stopped in the middle of the road with a loud cry of the horse and the driver.
I did not want to come out, I did not make a move to, because I knew he was right outside.
Really, there was nothing stopping him from manifesting inside my tiny carriage, and yet he still pounded on my door from the outside and demanded that I come and face him.
When I did not reply, he forced my door open, making me turn to him with wide eyes and taxed breath.
I cannot lie, I was surprised to see his distraught expression and his unkempt features. I did not think it would be possible for him to appear this way.
Dream reaches out for me. I watch him as his dark expression slips as I raise my hand out to him. I however do not hold him, instead I push him away.
His brows furrow tightly, "you will come with me at once."
A shiver runs down my spine at his command. I fake courage and clench my jaw, "no."
"No?" he tilts his head.
"I do not want to come with you anywhere at all," I mutter coldly.
Dream cannot mask the disbelief and horror on his face. I can see his expression slowly shift into anger as he speaks, "what has made you like this?"
"YOU have made me like this!" I hiss, leaning in, "you are hard and cruel," I shake my head rapidly, "you do not love me."
"I ONLY LOVE YOU!" he barks, removing further the distance between us as he leans forward.
"BUT I DO NOT!" I answer with the same intensity before pulling back.
His face falls. Wind begins to pick up begin him. His eye twitches, "liar."
I hold back tears as I grip my hands tightly. I shake my head slowly this time, "not anymore."
His face twists, he pulls back and his knees nearly buckle.
My heart feels as though it is being squeezed when I look at him. I cannot lose my advantage now, "I used to believe you were once my sweet Dream, but you are nothing more than a twisted nightmare."
"Stop," he points, "LIAR! That's not true- I- I'm still your Dream! I love you!"
"If you truly loved me, you would let me go!" I quip moving towards him, "you have to let me go, Dream."
"You cannot leave me!" he whisper-yells, "I want you to be with me, to stay with me, to love me!" He grips on the side of the carriage door, "even thinking about a world without you, a world where you are with someone else makes me sick."
I retreat from him when he tries to reach out for me. He is hurt by this. He slowly pulls his hand away, "can you at least pretend to love me?"
A chill runs down my spine when he says this.
He grows more desperate when he speaks again, "I implore you, tell me what err I've committed so that I man correct it," he drops on his knees, "I beg you not to leave me."
I turn away from him, rubbing my face as I did, to hide the tears that were threatening to show themselves to Dream, "close the door, Dream."
Dream's desperation leaves him, "no."
His change in tone makes me my blood still. I barely even see him when I turn to him and feel myself fade into darkness.
"If you will not come to me in your own accord," he says, standing, "then I will take you in my own."

Dark!Morpheus x GN!Reader
Author's note: This is inspired in @notenoughfanficofthis 's post. I was scrolling looking for a yandere Morpheus and found nothing, quite a shame. I'll do my best to use non-gendered terms, but if I have to use, I'll use feminine and masculine without especial regard.
Summary: With Morpheus away, the kingdom came to pieces. Once he's out of his imprisonment he comes to find that not only his kingdom is falling apart, but that his lover is gone.
Tumblr media
He waited patiently, and trusted that his many decades- no, centuries ruling over a kingdom was more than enough to gain everyone's trust. When he came out, he found nothing. His kingdom in pieces, and what's worse... his lover was nowhere to find.
'Where are they, Lucienne.' Asked Morpheus, knowing already that they where not in the dream realm.
'They left, my lord, just some decades after you.'
'Mere decades where enough?' Morpheus was as irritated as he has ever been. 'And you didn't stop them?!'
'I tried, sir, but without you there were so many responsibilities and... y/n took advantage of this and left without anyone notice.'
'Has anyone looked for them'
'I would've sent them, but there's no one left...' Morpheus turned around, thinking of where could they be. 'But, lord Morpheus, if I may insist. I may have an idea on how to find them. You know that they love big monuments, they can't be very afar of any big city, that makes our search easier.'
'Yes... of course...' Morpheus looked at his hand with anger at his lost power. 'But I can't do this just now...'
*
Now with his powers back, he didn't have anything in mind more than y/n. He almost felt guilty: some died, and some others were sent to an endless nightmare that would last as long as he would, just because they got in his way. But finally, he was able to go in search of his lover.
No one has seen him like this before. Yes, they knew how much Morpheus loved Y/n, but this... this sure was another level of madness.
Through his journey, the thing that the King of Dreams cared most was not his realm, but he showed the most deep obsession towards Y/n, in Matthew's words, "He cares for no one or anyone but Y/n and his realm but... he's merciless, it's... scary, more than anything has frighten me. When I told him maybe Y/n wanted to be alone for a while, it costed me every word I could ever say to get out of trouble."
And Y/n got sloppy, and eventually -less than two days-, they fell asleep. Morpheus looked from afar. Just when Y/n noticed they were in a dream, they tried everything to wake up, and when they did, they couldn't believe it: they weren't alone, even if with the pass of time all of their family should be dead, he found another, and another... And he showed an expression Morpheus hasn't seen in a while: pure, utter happiness. Why didn't they look at him that way, what did he do wrong?
Y/n was... happy, and they didn't need a whole kingdom for them, but what the hell did they want then? Morpheus didn't take long to come to Y/n, just when they were alone, they felt an unsettling presence. First, a crow, and they knew they were in trouble.
'Y/n...'
'Morpheus...' In y/n's eyes were not relief, where not happiness of seeing his lover, that was fear. Morpheus knew then something was wrong. They where not to fear him, he would give everything for Y/n, and would do everything for them. 'I'm sorry, I shouldn't have left.'
'No, Y/n, just...' and hope, Y/n looked at Morpheus with hope of not being punished. With a broken heart, the king of dreams got on his knees and took Y/n's hands. 'what did you fear so much about me? Did you not love me as much as I do, that when I come after a century of imprisonment I found you gone, and not the gentle arms of my lover to welcome me? What didn't I give you that the humans did?'
'I wanted to see.' Y/n hugged Morpheus to his surprise. 'I'm so sorry, I'll go with you.'
But Y/n was not relieved or happy; they were trembling in fear, fear they Morpheus would hurt the family that treated them so kindly. Morpheus couldn't feel any more broken. Do they really see him as a ruthless monster? What did he do so wrong that his lover fears him so much?
'You are afraid... why?'
'You know I don't want to lie to you...'
'Then don't. I just... I want your happiness more than mine, you know that.'
'Just... don't hurt them...'
'Who? The humans that treated you as a same, that cared for you?' Y/n just nodded lightly, not knowing what to expect of kind words. 'Oh I won't, my love. I just...' His embrace was now angry, but not at them. 'Why did you leave me? Why? Am I so little to you? Do you not truly love me?'
'I do, Morpheus. I didn't have any lovers while you were gone, even if I wanted to be caressed, if I wanted to hear those "I love you" or had someone care for me. I didn't want anyone, but you. I wanted to see how they live, how they are happier the more difficult their life is, to know why they don't just end their suffering and choose to live... I knew that while you were here I wouldn't be able to come here, because you said it was dangerous.'
'Oh my Y/n please, what did I ever do to you? Am I so hateful to you? Do you fear me so much and think I care so little that I wouldn't give everything for your love? That if you were to live among humans, I wouldn't rather follow you to secure your safety that to imprison you as I have lived?' Y/n stayed silent. 'Do you... feel I imprisoned you?'
'I felt I didn't have freedom, because if something was dangerous, you wouldn't let me be close, and to you everything was dangerous.'
'We will do something, alright, love?' Morpheus stood up and looked at Y/n's eyes. 'You can stay here for as long as you want, with your family, happy. But I will be watching your every move, I will know everything, you will never be alone... and whenever you want, just say my name, and I'll be there. Your family will be safe, you'll have your freedom, and you will eventually know I do not deserve your fear.'
'You will be so kind?'
'Of course, with and for you, always. I just want something in return.'
'And what is this?'
'To stay a little longer by your side right now. I haven't felt your touch for a century, I might need another century just to enjoy your warmth.'
*
What Y/n didn't know, is that he would notice every look anyone did at them, and he couldn't stand how some looked at them not with kindness, as they deserved, but with either lust or annoyance. Every single one of those ants would meet some of their worst nightmares until not only they stopped, but they went away for good and had fear of going to sleep. And every night, Morpheus and y/n would meet, with their love growing stronger, because even if Morpheus couldn't love any more Y/n, they now where not afraid, they trusted Morpheus... they trusted Morpheus just enough to not see that having no privacy meant no freedom, and that anyone that tried to warn them would eventually go missing or would take back their words.

Hello! Author here. I hope this is more or less what you expected @notenoughfanficofthis . I didn't want Morpheus to be a straight up "yandere" or something, and it would be pointless for him to not change his mind in some things after he escaped. Ngl, I see y/n here to eventually go back to the dream realm. You know those hcs with Morpheus and Hob where anyone to interrupt them would suddenly move countries and how scary he is when Hob meets Death. Yeah, this fanfics ends in something like that. Cute right?

This Waking Nightmare (Part 2) Yandere!Morpheus x Fem!Reader
Part 1 and Part 3
Summary: Even before his capture, Dream of The Endless had always longed for a loving partner to share his eternity with, and when he finds that an unexpected turn of events may be the first step towards gaining what it is he has been yearning for for so very long, he’ll do anything to make it a reality.
So when Alex Burgess unexpectedly flees after the death of his father, leaving Fawney Rig to crumble into disrepair, Dream had no idea that his salvation would come, not in the form of any of his siblings, nor by any feat of cunning on his part, but simply by the unprecedented arrival of a single mortal girl who would go on to forever reshape and change the very fabric of the Dreamlord’s endless existence.
Warnings: There are no warnings for now, these first few chapters will be fairly tame.
Neil Gaiman is a master storyteller and I own nothing related to The Sandman in any of its forms and/or adaptations.
It wasn’t too hard to find the entrance to the basement, not when someone had graffitied two of the most famous book quotes of all time right across the door and walls in big black letters.
Abandon all hope, ye who enter here & As above, so below
Whoever did it had probably thought that they were being very clever, but in actuality, they really just came off as being very pretentious and lame. If this were a horror movie, it would be beyond the realm of B-rated cheesiness.
You opened it without much hesitation or fanfare and the door swung inward on rusted and squeaking hinges. Shining your flashlight in, you could see that it wasn’t anything special, just a rickety old staircase that led down into what you naturally assumed was just an ordinary and equally as old basement.
You debated turning around and leaving since you would still have to make the trek back up the incredibly long driveway to make it back to the main road and blessed cell service, but you’d already come this far, you silently told yourself, it’s not like a few more minutes of exploring is gonna do you any harm. After all, if Kalvin had been telling the truth during the drive over, then there wasn’t going to be much to see down there anyway. You’d likely be in and out in less time than it was taking you to actually debate this inconsequential task.
With your mind made up, you slowly began making your way down the stairs, being extra careful to watch your step on the way down so as not to fall and hurt yourself. However, when you finally reached the bottom, you were surprised to see that the opening to the space was blocked off by yet another barrier, this one a barred metal gate that reminded you of an old prison cell door. Luckily for you and your now thoroughly peaked curiosity, it wasn’t actually barring the way anymore since it appeared someone had long since taken it right off its hinges and just left it lying on the floor where it fell.
Carefully making your way around the darn thing so you wouldn’t trip over it and possibly twist your ankle, you finally got a look inside the place, and needless to say, it was pretty damn impressive.
“Holy shit…” You exclaimed.
This sure as hell wasn’t what you had been expecting. You had obviously never seen the basement of a mansion before, but you had imagined that it wouldn’t be that much different from any other basement. However, the dinghy space you had been anticipating entering wasn’t at all what you currently found yourself standing inside of.
Instead of a low ceiling full of cobwebs and support beams and a compact dirt or concrete floor, in its place you found a space the size of a small parking lot, complete with a high ceiling to add more openness to the underground space and solid stone flooring that left echoes in the wake of your footsteps. But it was what you saw in the center of the room that made you truly take notice.
There was a section of the floor in the shape of a large square, smack dab in the middle of the room, that appeared to be separated from the rest of it by means of what you could only interpret as a mini trench of some kind surrounding it in an equally shaped outer square. After moving closer to shine your flashlight down into it, you could just barely make out the telltale signs of dried up sludge coating the bottom, indicating that it must have been filled with water at some point.
“So it was a miniature moat or something?” You questioned the empty room as you continued to look around. If you had to hazard a guess, this probably had less to do with interesting architecture and more to do with the cult that had once called this place home back in the day. There was a small pathway that cut through the mini-moat and gave access to the strange spot, and since you were still curious to get a closer look at it you moved towards it.
*scrap scrap*
The faint sound came from behind you and in a whorl of spiked panic, you spun around, and aimed the flashlight in the direction of the scratching noise and prayed to God that it wasn’t the aforementioned axe murderer you had briefly imagined earlier.
At first, you didn’t see anything at all, but upon closer inspection, you noticed the faint outline of a large rodent near one of the alcoves in the wall and relaxed ever so slightly, but as soon as the light touched it, it shrunk back and suddenly skittered down into the ground through an opening of some kind.
You might have been content to simply forget about that and continue on with your snooping now that you knew there was no danger, except for the fact that you remembered that this whole floor was seemingly made out of stone; and there should have been nowhere for that rat to go underneath it all. You weren’t entirely too sure, but you didn’t think that common household rats were known for burrowing in the ground, much less burrowing through solid stone.
Now thoroughly intrigued, you made your way over to inspect the area and realized that this one random section of the floor was made of wooden planks that extended out from the wall by 4ft or so, in fact, this odd wood trimming seemed to run around the entire length of the room. It was like the people who originally lived here were trying to cover the stone with the wood flooring, but stopped midway through the project for some reason.
Angling your light over the spot the rat had disappeared into, you saw that there was a hole in the wood about the size of a baseball and without much more thought, proceeded to get down on your hands and knees to shine the flashlight inside.
You knew this was an incredibly strange and silly thing to be doing, you weren’t going to find anything of real substance or value in a rat nest, but some unseen force (probably the tequila and your damned curiosity) was pushing you to follow through and at least check it out, if only for the sheer madness of it.
But it wasn’t a rat in a small hole that you saw…
Not even close… It was the broken top step of an old wooden ladder.
“The fuck?” You took a second look to see if it was some kind of trick of the light or even just the broken off piece of wood that would have originally filled in the hole, but sure enough, it was a fucking ladder of all things.
Using the sleeve of your jacket to brush away the thick layers of previously undisturbed dust and dirt coating the wood, you soon found what you were looking for in the form of a rectangular seam that didn’t match up with the rest of the wooden floor boards lining. A quick knock on the top even confirmed your suspicions when the sound rang back hollowly.
This was definitely a hatch door, but it had no handles to lift it with or even hinges at the back to help it angle it upward. If you wanted to get it open, you were going to have to take the whole thing off. But that begged the question of whether or not you even wanted to bother with it. It was probably nothing more than a dank and dirty old root-cellar, but still, you couldn’t help but wonder about it, and you knew that you’d keep thinking about it over and over again if you left without even trying.
Mind made up, you set down the flashlight and positioned it to shine where you needed it before pulling out a sturdy switchblade from your pocket that you had been carrying around for years in case of an emergency or accident. This wasn’t the kind of situation you ever thought you’d find yourself to be using it in, but better this than a potential kidnapping.
Over the course of the next half hour, you worked to use the knife as a makeshift crowbar and pry up the hatch. It wasn’t easy since the damn thing was nailed down in a few spots, but with a little bit of time and elbow grease, it eventually became loose enough to lift and toss aside. The smell of stale air wafted up from the opening and you coughed as the scent settled into your lungs, but it didn’t smell like something rotten or anything horrible, so at the very least, if there were any dead bodies down there, they likely weren’t fresh. As you peered down into the hole, you could see that the drop was about 6ft to 7ft down and the floor was concrete, you just hoped the old ladder was strong enough to handle you going down and back up it at least once. The last thing you wanted was to get stuck down there and end up starving to death, because you highly doubted that Gabby and the others were going to come back looking for you.
So, keeping the knife in your hand, just in case, and the flashlight in the other, you slowly and carefully began making your way down.
The wood groaned and creaked under your weight, but not enough to make you believe it was going to give out or break. You still felt incredibly relieved when your feet finally touched the ground though and you turned around to get your first look at the secret space.
However…
That relief was incredibly short lived upon discovering what exactly it was that this odd chamber had truly been hiding.
—————
Morpheus froze in stunned awe as he watched the young woman deceased down the ladder and into the dank darkness of his prison chamber, the flashlight she carried in her hand shining like a beacon from the Silver City itself as it cast eerie shadows all around the space.
If he were mortal and not the true universal embodiment of dreams and the unconscious mind, he might have pinched himself to see if he was dreaming this all up, but such a thing couldn’t be possible, the entrapment circle crafted around his cage had prevented him from dreaming since the moment of his capture.
Which could really only mean one thing…
That this was real.
It was difficult to make out her features from the dim light cast by her flashlight, but right now, he couldn’t care less what she looked like, not when she held the power to help free him just by simply being here. She was the first true living thing he had laid eyes on in… well… he didn’t accurately know how long, but it was long enough that the mere sight of her was enough to make him want to weep.
But as she raised the light to look around, her reaction to seeing him made it clear that he was not at all what she had been expecting to find down here.
She screamed in surprise and stumbled back onto her rear, gaping at him in shock and disbelief. She stayed still like that for so long that, were it not for the erratic rise and fall of her chest to indicate otherwise, Dream feared she may have passed out or even died of fright right there on the spot.
She eventually seemed to get her bearings about her and he heard her mumbling some rather choice words before coming to a decision and he watched with bated breath as she closed up the knife he just now noticed she carried in her other hand and put it away in her pocket. She began scrambling around the chamber, looking for something, though he knew not what for.
That question was soon answered however when he saw her bend down to pick up a large rock with a jagged end, to which she must have deemed acceptable, because she was suddenly making her way over to him. He nearly smiled in gleeful triumph when he saw her shoes scuff a line through the entrapment circle, weakening its enchantment on the glass and his power.
She set the flashlight down on the ground before turning to face him through the glass, a determined look set upon her rather beautiful face, and for the first time in what felt like an eternity, he heard another's voice ringing in his ears. He didn’t know if she truly had the voice of an angel, for that’s exactly what it sounded like, or if he was just that desperate for the sound, but he didn’t care. He wanted to beg her to keep talking, to fill his ears with the sweet melody and never stop, but he found his own voice was caught in his throat as the shock that he was finally free settled over him. The long awaited relief washed over him in delightful waves and he slumped against the glass, unable and unwilling to take his eyes off of the beguiling creature standing on the other side of his cage, the rock in her hand raised high and poised to strike.
“Just hang on, I’m going to try and get you out!”
And then she moved.
—————
Finding a naked young man trapped in some kind of creepy glass cage down here was so far down the list of things you hadn’t expected to come across, that it wasn’t ever even an option. But that’s exactly what it was, and you just figured that you could worry about the ‘how’s’ and ‘why’s’ of this incredibly odd turn of events after you had gotten him out of this thing.
For a brief moment, you had thought that the best thing you could do would be to leave and get far enough away to call the police and let them handle this. But you knew they’d likely just think this whole thing was a prank call by some bored teenagers and ignore you, or they’d show up and you’d get arrested for trespassing before losing your scholarship and getting deported. There was also this man’s safety to consider, you admitted to yourself as you thought of what could go wrong if you left him here for even a few hours. You doubted he was down here by choice; what if whoever put him there came back to kill him, or what if he ran out of air or something while you were gone?
He didn’t look hurt or anything as far as you could tell, so he couldn’t have been trapped for very long, you thought, even as your subconscious mind took notice of how there were no human footprints of any kind trailing through the dirt and dust that blanketed the floor, or how there seemed to be no other entrances/exits besides the one you just came through, and that one clearly hadn’t been used in decades.
All of these thoughts piled up in your head faster than you could comprehend or keep track of them, but in the end, it was none of them that made you decide to help him. It was the look on his face, the look that told you something fundamental would shatter inside of him if you turned your back and left him here alone, even if it was only for a short amount of time.
Now here you were, banging on the seemingly indestructible glass with a rock to try and break through, and in your panic, it never even occurred to you to try and see if the damn thing had a door with an outside lock to try and open for him or something.
At first, all it did was scratch the surface and you fears you may actually have to go back up in search of a better tool, like a hammer or something, but after a few more hard strikes in the same spot, spiderwebs and hairline fractures began to splinter outward from the area and you could see that a small hole had been formed. Once the structure was weakened enough, breaking through the rest of it was comparably easy to chip away at, and soon, you had made a hole big enough that he could squeeze through. There were metal pieces wound through the glass and you dragged the rock against both, trying to get rid of as many jagged chunks as you so he wouldn’t seriously hurt himself when climbing out.
“Just… umm, let me brush away some of these shards and pieces before you get out.” You said awkwardly, not entirely too sure how to speak or what to say in a situation like this as you took off your coat and used it to clear away the glass that had fallen inside the cage and then did the same to the floor so he, hopefully, wouldn’t end up slicing the bottoms of his feet to ribbons.
“Give me your hand and I’ll help you out.” You said, trying to remain as calm as you could. He hadn’t said a single word yet as he just kept staring at you with wide eyes and a gobsmacked expression.
You hadn’t bothered to get a really good look at him, not just because of how strange and disturbing this situation was, but also because the man was butt-ass-naked. But now that you were so near to him, you couldn’t not take notice of him and his rather… appealing physique.
Pale skin so white it almost seemed to glow in the dim illumination cast by your flashlight and a messy shock of pitch black hair set over an angular face that you could only describe as being utterly beautiful. With high cheekbones and full pursed lips that were making you think of very sinful and inappropriate things, it really was a miracle you weren’t drooling right now, and that was just what he looked like above the neck.
He didn’t take your outstretched hand though, and instead grabbed the metal portion of the structure and swung himself out with all the ease and grace of a practiced gymnast. His feet touched the ground without a sound and he didn’t even seem bothered by the potential injuries and infection he could sustain from the broken glass and filth ridden floor. He just stood there, stark naked and silently watching you.
As he stood to his full height, you could now see that he was quite a bit taller than you, by at least a couple of inches, if not a whole foot, and you couldn’t help but wonder if you had hit the nail on the head when you thought his movements were as fluid as a gymnast’s, because he certainly had the body of one. He was lean, but even in the crappy light cast by the flashlight, you see that he was sculpted with ropes of solid muscle. He reminded you of those famous statues from Greece, the ones carved from marble to look like the ancient heroes from the epics, like Hercules and Achilles.
But as you looked up to make eye contact with him, you found yourself completely hypnotized by what you found there.
His eyes were the color of raw silver, like dancing silver flames, or the glinting of two bright stars in the deepest and darkest night sky. They were captivating and you found that you were so enraptured with them that you didn’t even realize you had taken a step forward until you heard glass crunching underneath your booted foot and you snapped out of it, jerking back with frightened shock over the momentary loss of your inhibitions.
You really were trying your best not to ogle him, but that was rather hard to accomplish when he was making no move at all to cover himself and you refused to turn your back on him. You might have helped him out of a really bazaar situation, but that didn’t mean you trusted him enough to let your guard down completely with him, he was still a perfect stranger after all.
“Listen,” You started off, trying to find something to say that would help to ease the tension of this incredibly awkward silence. “Now that we got you out of whatever that thing is,” You made a hand motion towards the now destroyed cage. “We should really look at getting out of here before whoever it was that put you in there decides to come back.” You took a step back, opting to put some distance between you and the stranger, but for the first time since you laid eyes on one another, he spoke, and you weren’t entirely certain if it was his words or the haunting raspy sound of his voice that made you freeze, but you did and it cost you.
“They won’t be returning.”
You opened your mouth to ask what the fuck he meant by that, but faster then you could process what was happening, the man’s hand shot out and snagged your wrist. He gave a gentle tug and you went falling into his arms, but before you could even begin to struggle or open your mouth to scream, he opened his other hand and blew something into your face and everything suddenly went dark.
—————
Morpheus caught you in his arms as you went limp against him, the last thing he wanted was to see you get needlessly hurt, especially since he now owed you quite the generous life debt for unknowingly freeing him from what he was beginning to think would be an eternity of confinement.
Looking down at your peaceful expression, he used some of what reminded of his limited power to look into your dreams, trying to find out any information he could in regards to you and the state of the world he was about to re-enter.
Quite often, he was able to glean a lot about a person’s waking life, not just from their dreams, but from the multitude of thoughts that tended to run rampant through their mind in those hazy moments right before sleep truly claimed them. Those moments were often similar to that of waking dreams and he used to use them rather frequently to gather information when it was necessary.
And you were no exception to this trait.
In a matter of moments he knew quite a lot more than he did a few hours ago.
For example, he now knew that he had been imprisoned for well over a century, 106 years to be exact. He also now knew that your name was (Y/N) (L/N), you were 21 years old and attending university here in England despite not being British, he had even learned that you had been fortunate enough to get a single dorm room on campus and that you had been abandoned here after a rather interesting altercation between you and some of your fellow classmates.
With this knowledge in hand, he scooped you up into his arms as gently as he could and found himself marveling at just how soft you felt in his arms. You fidgeted a bit in response to the movement and grumbled something unintelligible before going quiet again, which showed just how weak he truly was, if he was at full power and in possession of his tools, you would have entered into a sleep so deep that only a select few things would have been enough to wake you. That thought was enough to spur him into action once again, and using the knowledge he’d gained from you, he called upon another morsel of his nearly depleted power and brought the both of you to an entirely new location.
Your dorm room was about what anyone could expect of such accommodations and Morpheus was quick to pull back the soft blankets and lay you down on the mediocre bed.
However, despite knowing he should be leaving right this moment to return to The Dreaming and begin the hunt for his tools of power, he found himself increasingly reluctant to fully release his hold on you. He hadn’t felt skin to skin contact in so long, even before his imprisonment it had been quite a while; but it was one thing to shun such a thing by choice, it was another thing entirely to have the option of it totally stripped away from you by force. Now he was feeling it again with you, and to his touch starved skin, it felt like the most exquisite thing in the world, both waking and dreaming.
Without realizing it, he found himself sitting beside you on the bed and stroking the tips of his fingers down your cheek, you sighed in your sleep and leaned into his touch, as if soothed by it. The simple and unconscious reaction left him with goosebumps prickling his skin and his heart stuttering in his chest as he continued to watch you sleep. He thought about entering your dreams and seeing what such a brave little mortal would conjure up in his realm, but for some inexplicable reason, he found himself unwilling to look away from the peacefulness of your sleeping face here in the waking world.
Eventually though, he knew he had to depart. It was time for him to finally return home, to go back to The Dreaming and assess the damage wrought by his absence over the last century, as well as to begin the search for his tools.
Cupping your face in his hands, he leaned over your sleeping form and pressed his forehead against your own and whispered your name softly to the otherwise silent room.
“You are my savior, my light in the darkness. I don’t believe there is anything I can do that will ever truly be enough to repay you for what you have done for me tonight.” Being this close to you, he couldn’t help but notice your enticing scent and how it made his mouth water, not with the typical hunger one would expect after so long in confinement, but with something that left his cock twitching against his bare leg. However, he ignored that feeling as best he could and continued on. “But this I promise you, my little savior, once I have my tools in my possession again, I will see to it that you spend the rest of your life with nothing but the sweetest and happiest of dreams whenever you enter my realm, even if I have to enter your dreams every evening and craft them by hand myself. I vow that no nightmare will ever intrude and interrupt your sleep ever again.”
There was so much more he wanted to say to you, so much more he wanted to do, but time was of the essence and he needed to leave, before he did something very foolish, something that would surely bring the wrath of the universe down upon his immortal head.
And so, with nothing more than a quick kiss to your brow and another heartfelt exclamation of gratitude, he was gone in a whisp of shadows, as if he had never been there to begin with.
Please enjoy and let me know what you think of this second chapter! I’m dying to know what you all think is going to go down.
Please forgive any minor potholes or inconsistencies, I tried my best to make the detail changes make sense for the story I wanted to tell while still keeping in line with the original source material. This is mostly based off of the Netflix series, but there are some details about the comics and audio books thrown in for flavor.
And as always, I want to give a very BIG thank you to my amazing friend @talpup for all the brainstorming and encouragement on these stories! I’m  sure I would have given up on this blog a while ago if it wasn’t for  all of   their help. I highly encourage anyone who takes the time to  read this to go over to their page or their AO3 account under the same  name and check out their works, especially Chaos and Lost Song. They  are two of my favorite BNHA fics of ALL TIME! And who has also started  their own Yandere!Overhaul fic called Crossroads and is set in a  1920′s prohibition style era, it’s amazing and you really need to check  it out!

born to die
morpheus x reader
warnings: slight yandere themes if you really really really look, death, reincarnation, diy abortion, pregancy (for a little while)
one day, you died. and then, you came back. one minute you were a grown woman and the next, in the body of a little boy. it never hurt to die, but you always remember. you remember everything. it left you disoriented the first time, coming back. you felt scared, always crying, screaming for your lost family, but soon it became too tiring. too exhausting to mourn for people you had loved, too exhausting to love and know you’ll never spend eternity with them. it was your own damn fault, of course, not realizing what you had agreed to.
“what are you doing here?” silence filled your apartment as you stare at the man in front of you.
“i felt your yearn for me.” Morpheus says, gently. he moves towards you. instinctively, you take a step back. your back presses against the wall.
“i- i don’t know what you’re talking about. you’re not real. i’m just dreaming.” he steps closer to you, only inches away now.
“my dove,” Morpheus carcasses your check with a cold hand. you lean into it. “i am no dream. i’m back… for you.”
“no, Morpheus. we can’t.” you press your eyes closed as tears well. you love him, but the gods have said that a mortal and an endless don’t belong, their story always ends in heartbreak. he had told you himself when you had met for the first time.
it was your first life. the beginning. you were once royalty, you bathed in wealth and riches. your father, the duke, spoiled you rotten and your mother, although strict, always gave you what you wanted. no matter what you asked. so, you’ve never wanted to love or romance. what was the need for temporary feelings when you can fill your heart with gold.
“magician, why have you requested the audience of the duke?” your father’s chamberlain questioned. a man stood before him, dressed in black from head to toe. he adorned a cloak that shimmered as it moved, and with the right angle, you could see glittering stars and galaxies on the inside. a strange aura surrounded him, you couldn’t feel any magic like from magicians you have met before, but there was something about him you couldn’t place. he says something in response, but you couldn’t hear. his voice was quiet, but it felt like the ground rumbled as he spoke. you shake your head, believing you must have lost your mind.
“boo.” someone whispers into your ear. you jump and turn in surprise. your handmaiden laughs loudly at your display. you quickly cover her mouth.
“shh! i’m watching the new magician!” you whisper, you turn back and your handmaiden peeks over your shoulder to watch the magician walk through the doors. he pauses, you both still, he turns and you see him. he was… beautiful. you had never seen a man so alluring. his eyes meet yours; your heart feels like it has stopped. his eyes swirl with different colors, it reminds you of the night sky. his face betrays no emotion as he tilts his head and examines you, but you can feel his gaze soften. he turns back and walks into the great hall.
you don’t see him after that, not for a couple days. in those days, you felt a strange emptiness. you had never felt such longing before. you’re not sure what to make of it. you fill this emptiness by going out, buying beautiful dresses and jewelry, but nothing worked. you stand at your balcony, leaning your head against your arm, your ache weighing you down. you watch the sky darken and watch the trees sway in the light wind. suddenly, you see something in the garden, someone. your ache disappears, replaced with giddiness. you pulled on a coat over your nightdress and snuck outside, carefully avoiding the servants and guards. you make your way to the garden and see your mysterious magician sitting at a bench, facing the roses. you quietly come and sit next to him. neither one of you say anything, content to sit in each other’s company.
“i had requested for these roses to be planted.” you say, keeping your eyes on the red roses. you remember when you had asked for the garden to be made. it was your 15th birthday, you had made a passing comment about how a garden would look nice outside your room and by the next week, your parents had started planting and building. you smile, reminiscing your childhood. he hums, you could feel the vibrations of his voice in your chest.
“it’s beautiful.” his voice was deep, elegant. it was soothing. every ache, every pain, every awful feeling you had when you hadn’t seen him, it washed away. you let out a small breath.
“your voice is very beautiful.” you say, looking at him. he looks at you, a small smile dances across his lips. you smile back, “has my father appointed you as our mage?” you turn back towards the roses.
“perhaps.” his voice was traced with mirth and you grin.
“you’re very mysterious, magician, i’m sure i’ll see you again.”
“i’m sure you will, my lady.”
soon months passed and you fell in love, your magician had told you his name was draumey, seemed to fall in love with you as well. he came to you every night, in wake and in sleep. the two of you talked for hours. he would soon confess his true identity, Morpheus, lord of the dreaming.
“i don’t understand, why can’t we be together?” he shakes his head, his annoyance obvious on his face.
“mortals and endless cannot be together, (y/n).” he states with finality. tears stream down your face, and Morpheus turns away from you, unable to watch as his lover crumbles. “it ends in a tragedy, it was foretold in the beginning of everything.” Morpheus tries to explain to you, but you break down into sobs. his face was wracked with guilt, he only turns to leave, but you call out to him.
“please, my love, stay with me, for one final night.” Morpheus doesn’t answer, “please give me one last moment with you.” you beg. Morpheus turns back to you, silent. his eyes, filled with stars, search your face. in one quick moment, your face is in his hands and his lips on your lips. desperation was in every kiss, searing and steaming. you could feel every ounce of guilt and sadness in him. you kissed him back, needing to make him remember you. his hands move to your back, quickly undoing your lace. with in seconds, your clothes were on the floor and your body was in his hands.
by morning, Morpheus had left, leaving only a rose where he had laid next to you. as soon as he was gone, the ache was back. but soon, you learned that you were with child. the ache you had felt was gone, but dread replaced it. fear for your child and fear of the tragedy that Morpheus had warned you about. your handmaiden was sworn to secrecy, fearing your parents’ reaction. but as soon as you found out, your life ends.
you stood at your balcony, one hand on your stomach. your thoughts full of your love.
“hello.” a sultry voice sounds from behind you. you turn and the most beautiful person stands in front of you. their hair black and lips a deep red. they hum, you feel the vibrations in your chest.
you gasp, “you’re like Morpheus!” your eyes widen.
they chuckle, “he told you, hasn’t he.” they start laughing, loud and menacing. “oh, he truly loved you.” you feel fear trickle down your spine. “oh sweetheart… don’t be scared.” they smile, wide and evil. “i’m here to help you with that ‘thing’ in your belly.”
your eyes grow wide and your hand goes back down to your stomach, protective, “what? there- there is no need for that.” they pout.
“oh, but there is.” they flick their wrist and you’re falling. the balcony was built with your safety in mind, this shouldn’t be happening. you scream, but soon, you’re looking down at your mangled corpse. blood flowing from your head and- “my baby…” you feel the wind get knocked out of you. you watch as your parents run to your body, screaming. a hand rests on your shoulder.
“hello, love.” calmness washes over you. you turn to look at the stranger. she felt similar to him, to your Morpheus. “ah, you must be my brother’s lover.” she smiles, warmly.
“i didn’t- i don’t know what to do… i miss him.” tears run down your face. she wipes your face.
“i can help you, but there are great costs.” she looked at you with worry. “once i do this for you, there is no turning back, (y/n). you will never be rid of this curse.”
“i don’t care… please… help me.” you feel the loss of your love, and then your child weighing on your heart. she sighed and nodded, and with a snap of her fingers, you were born again.
you push away his hand from your face. “i need you to leave, Morpheus.” you stand firm, wiping away your useless tears. you’ve survived decades of love and heartbreak, life and death. you will not lose yourself in love again. you will not lose yourself in him.
“you love me, i know it, (y/n).” Morpheus smiles. you grit your teeth.
“i don’t love you.” even you couldn’t believe your half-hearted lie, but you couldn’t risk it. Morpheus’s smile drops. you see the man that left you once more. Morpheus backs away.
“i do not believe you, and when you’re ready to listen to me, i shall find you, my dove.” he turns away, cold.
your stomach drops and fear twists your face, “no, Morpheus. don’t do this, please. please i can’t-” he snaps his finger, and once more, you are born again.

summary: too kind for your own good, you release a trapped man in your boss's basement and strangely enough forget all about it.
one year later, you're invited to his wedding as a thank you for saving his life. as your memories of that fateful night start to return and things go bump in the night, you realize there's something very strange going on.
where is the bride?
a vampire! morpheus fic inspired by the movies the invitation and crimson peak. heavy on the gothic romance and melodrama.
18+ only, ageless and blank blogs will be ignored.
sneak peek
A year of blood and yearning.
For each hour Dream had spent imprisoned, he would take his due in blood. That was a thing about the wealthy, they loved legacies, held the luxury of well recorded bloodlines, not that he needed that.
Every single Burgess and Burgess adjacent mortal was drained of blood, an avenging feast of retribution for their crimes against him.  He drank his way through cousins and uncles, he sipped on acolytes and jailers,  dined and dined till his supper of punishment left him full.
And after that, the vampire yearned.
For you.
You were what saints should pray to.
The vampire was not a religious person but he would tear the devil in two for a single chance to dip between your brown thighs and drown.
For that reason alone, Dream had work to do.
No throats to sink into or ravenous revenge to distribute, this was completely different, this was the crescendo of his immortal life’s work and it was all for you.
The vampire of dreams was taking a wife.
And what a beautiful bride you’d make.

His Ruby - Chapter 9
Summary: What if the ruby became a person, and Dream would stop at nothing to possess her?
Morpheus/F!Original Character
A/N: I have a longer note on AO3, but if you're coming back after such a long hiatus, I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart <3
Taglist: @gorgeourrific-nerd @dotieeee
Preview:
“Good morning,” Morpheus says when she opens the door. Ariel blinks up at him, having expected one of his servants instead. She’s used to Morpheus just barging into her room whenever he’d like, not knocking and waiting for a response.
“Hi,” Ariel says cautiously. It’s strange to see him standing before her after everything that has happened. She isn’t sure whether to be on her guard or to play nicely in the hopes he’ll finally let her out of this damn room.
“I would like for you to accompany me to the throne room,” he says, face blank except for the slightest bit of hope hiding in his eyes.
“Now?” she says, already eyeing the threshold to her room.
“As we had discussed, I will be attending to matters within the Dreaming so that I can work while keeping an eye on you,” he says stoically, then softens his voice. “You had also expressed a desire to leave your room.”
Ariel’s heart pounds in her chest. It’s nowhere near the level of freedom she craves, but it’s more than she’s had for over two days now.
Morpheus extends his hand over the doorway to her, leaving it hovering in front of her.
It’s more than just an invitation, but also a question - will she work with him? Try to meet him halfway?
Ariel doesn’t want to give him an inch. She doesn’t want to touch him, doesn’t want him to give him even the chance to take his power from her. She doesn’t want to feel the spark of electricity between them that makes her lust for him.
She wonders, would meeting halfway mean giving up her chance at freedom, at having her own choices, her own life? And would she sacrifice those things for the promise of happiness Morpheus has made to her?
Or, she thinks, would giving him the impression of cooperation grant her enough trust for her to finally break free of her bonds?
It’s a fine line she would have to walk, to both try to earn Morpheus’ trust while also keeping her own goals in mind. The building attraction between them only makes it more difficult.
Ariel steels herself, then takes Morpheus hand, and he pulls her over the threshold.

Now I need dark/yandere Morphius/Dream of the endless fics.
This man literally imprisoned his ex in Hell, just because she didn’t accept his offer to be his queen. If that doesn’t scream yandere/obsessive then I don’t know what does.

Yandere Morpheus/Dream of the Endless Headcanons (General)
‘‘Dream your dreams with me, my Consort.‘‘ - Morpheus/Sandman,
❝⌛— lady l: i couldn't hold myself together and i had to write this, before my ideas ran out, so i did lol. A Morpheus yandere is my new religion and I really liked the result and I hope you like it too! Feedbacks are always welcome and I'm sorry for any mistakes hihi. Good reading!!! <3
tw: yandere themes, obsessive and possessive behavior, uncontrolled jealousy, implied physical aggression (not to the reader), dub-con, mention of murder, threats, slight nsfw, unhealthy relationship, kidnapping, outbursts of rage and non-consensual somnophilia.
❝⌛ pairing: yandere!morpheus/dream of the endless x gender neutral!reader.
Tumblr media
Dream can be many things and is given many nicknames that may be conducive to his natural behavior and it never bothered him. He was that way, and end of the story, but when things start to change and he becomes obsessed with a human, the situation spirals out of control. He's never felt like this before, he's never felt so attached, so obsessed with a human and he knows he wants more, he wants to feel more of it and he won't give up on his obsession. He won't give up on you.
Morpheus is thought of as arrogant and obnoxious and part of that is true, it's not like he's going to deny it, he is those things but he often acts like that out of his own carelessness, he's aloof from people and considers himself better than most which causes even more intrigue, but then again, he doesn't care. He is a powerful being, older than the gods themselves, so why should he care what people think of him? That's how he used to think, or he did, until he met you and he really wants to make a good impression on you.
He met you while you were dreaming, it shouldn't be anything important he supposed but he couldn't take his eyes off you. You looked so... Ethereal as you played in the sand in your dream, on a beautiful and lonely beach, but even so, you smiled and played like you didn't care about anything else and he was fascinated. It didn't happen that often and that rarely, but he took an interest in you, he did, and he didn't intend to let you go. You would be perfect, the Consort he longed for.
For a while, Morpheus was content to just watch you. He was always in your dreams, making sure you only have sweet dreams and no terrifying nightmares, your dreams must be perfect. You may have found it strange that your dreams were always so... Sweet, but you didn't complain, it was nice to not wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat anymore. But you felt that there was something wrong, you felt observed, which scared you, but you tried to convince yourself that it was nothing, just your mind playing tricks on you. Oh, how you wish you were right.
He only made himself present in your life after feeling threatened by someone or something. You see, Sandman is proud and from the moment you start spending more time awake than sleeping he will feel threatened, maybe it doesn't make sense, but he doesn't care. Once you were asleep, Morpheus would walk into your room, he would actually be there and watch you. He would ogle you, watching your figure with lust in his eyes, but he wouldn't touch you. He would never do that without your consent. When you woke up and found him sitting next to you in bed, you would be scared, but he just said goodnight and blew sand in your face. When you woke up again, you would be in The Dreaming.
Morpheus would try his best to make you feel comfortable around him, because you would never leave and he wants you to be happy with him. He is obsessive, a hallmark of the Lord of Dreams, Dream will always have his eyes on you, if not his then someone he trusts, like his crow, you will never really be alone. He knows he shouldn't do this but he doesn't care, he'll have you with him and that's it. And woe to anyone who tries to come between you, if he's feeling merciful, death will just be the easiest and quickest of all the things he could do.
Possessiveness is something that is present in your relationship and always will, Morpheus is completely possessive of you, you are his and he will never share you with anyone. He will threaten anyone who dares to look at you any longer than he deems necessary (and he's a big hypocrite about that) and he won't bother tormenting that person's dreams at night with the most terrible nightmares you can muster to imagine. He knows everything about people and he will use that against you if necessary, you are his, you must always remember that. Morpheus won't get violent with you about this, about his ridiculous jealousy, but he will be cooler with you and his anger directed at others.
He is extremely overprotective of you, combining with his possessiveness, he becomes intense and suffocating. Morpheus is very afraid of losing you, he made you immortal but you can still get hurt, you can be captured and he will never let the same thing that happened to him happen to you. And gods have mercy on those who dare to harm you, because Sandman will not. He is suffocating in the extreme, being glued to your side 24 hours a day, when you sleep and dream is when you are most at his mercy. You are cared for and protected by him and always will be, Dream will not allow any harm to happen to you while he exists.
Morpheus is a generous lover, he enjoys both giving and receiving. He takes his time before he finally gets to the end, he likes to finger your folds, lick your nipples and suck your lips like they're the tastiest thing he's tasted, and maybe that's true. Sandman will circle your clit with his tongue, enjoying your slick moans and he will shove two fingers into your pussy, content to hear your name come out of your sinful lips. He won't stop teasing you until you come in his mouth, letting him enjoy his natural juices. Dream will love to suck you, squeezing the glans of your cock and licking it like there's no tomorrow. He'll take you slow and sensual, torturing you until you beg him to fuck you, and as soon as he hears the dirty words fall from your lips, Morpheus will fuck you senseless and hard. He wouldn't stop until both of you were satisfied.
In a more platonic way, Sandman will be more lenient with you, say in terms of freedom, but don't get too carried away, he will never allow you to have a relationship with anyone. He will be even more protective, you are his precious and beloved baby and it is his duty to take care of you and he will. He will always be by your side when you go to sleep and in your dreams, there is never a moment when you have privacy. He always looks out for yours dreams, but if you piss him off, he might end up turning your sweet dreams into your biggest fear. He knows he will scare you, but even so, Morpheus wants you to learn your lesson, that he will not tolerate any form of disobedience from you.
Morpheus has had many romantic relationships in the past and they all ended abruptly and he doesn't handle breakups and rejection well. If you rejected him he wouldn't accept it, he would never accept that you don't want to be with him. He would feel insulted and hurt, as you, a human, had the courage and audacity to refuse him? He can give you anything you want: the universe, the sun, the moon, the stars, anything you want. Can't you see that? That you were made for each other? He will make you see it, he won't let you leave him, you were his the moment he laid eyes on you and from that moment on, you will always be his. He will try to be soft at first, trying to win you over through clumsy but loving affections, but once he realizes that none of that is working, he will go to extreme lengths and can and probably will kidnap you, Morpheus will bring you into his realm, a place you could never be away from him.
The Sandman is many things, he is obsessive, possessive, controlling, overprotective and cold and everything to you. He loves you, he really does, but if you hurt him in any way, the chances are he won't forgive you so easily, if he ever does, don't think wrong, he still won't let you go but he will be colder and spiteful in his approach. Morpheus learned to love you the moment he saw you, he fell hard and obsessively in love and there's no turning back, he won't go anywhere without you with him. It's gotten to the point where he can't do his job properly if he doesn't know you're happy and comfortable, he needs that reassurance, constantly. He sees you as superior to everyone else, he idolizes you and he wants you to be his Consort, he wants to rule The Dreaming with you at his side and he will and no one, not even you, will get in the way of that. He can be everything you dream of, but always remember, he is still one of the Endless and he is extremely dangerous with his obsession with you.

I’m struggling to put this into writing but it’s an idea I’ve had since the first time watching The Sandman.
Lowkey into that obsessed lover trope thing and I was thinking of a Dark!Morpheus coming out of his imprisonment to find his kingdom in pieces and his lover gone taken advantage of the newfound freedom his absence brought. Seeking to find his lover and rebuild his kingdom. He sets out to find them -living peacefully among the humans.
If someone can write this for me I’d sacrifice some spicy chicken nuggets and make a shrine in your honor

Idk maybe it’s the way I’ve shaped you into my head. The height matches up in my mind. But now that I think about I suppose I can see you being shorter but not as much. Yeah you just give if those vibes. 6’2 is a good height for darker aesthetic guys. It’s kinda broody
I see, I imagine I am more well-shaped in your head than I truly am in reality haha. I wonder what your height is, dear anon, and if you picture me towering over you in your mind since you assumed me to be tall.

I’ve just had a vision, what if a yan (e.g riddle or vil because they are most princess-ish) was a trapped in a castle away like in one of those stereotypical fairy tales and the reader decides to save them because they are a ‘damsel in distress’ and reader is like a hero… only to realise there is a reason why they were locked away (because they were batshit crazy)
Warning: Yandere. Gender-neutral reader.
Characters: Vil Schoenheit.
Summary: You are a thief with freshly stolen goods. Chased and hunted down, you avoid capture by finding a castle hidden in gloom and fog. Locals told legends of this place, saying a royal had been trapped within. Of course, you don't quite believe such tall tales. That is, until you discover the royal and learned that they were purposefully sealed inside...
Note: I think I'll call this one, not your valiant savior. It's just a placeholder name for now. Just a quick post, so sorry if it's bad.
Tumblr media
It was too easy. What did they expect when they left out a priceless object owned by the royal family and estimated to be worth a fortune? Of course a famed thief on the loose such as yourself, would just be itching to snatch the relic. And snatch you did, living up to your reputation of thief. Each member having unique abilities to assist in stealing. Your mother had speed to outrun anyone in a chase, your grandfather had the talent of picking any locks, your great-grandmother could sweet-talk anyone then rob them blind. And so on and so forth.
And of course, you had your own talent. As quiet as a mouse and with fingers that stuck to valuables like glue, stealing became like second nature. Literally. However, it wasn't exactly a talent valued by the wider community, and if you stole enough you could end up on terribly drawn wanted posters. Which is why staying in one place wasn't wise.
From place to place, you went taking and claiming anything of worth. When you got very low on cash, you set your sights high: on the vault that stored the royal's priceless treasures. There was bound to be endless riches stored within, if only you could get your grubby hands on them. Well, after careful planning, you had. It wasn't a giant gem or sack full of gold.
Time was short, so you had grabbed the closest thing you could before guards could find you. A golden box encrusted with jewels. Who knew what was inside? Maybe some family heirloom, a magical artifact, or something else of high value. And with the box, you bolted, and the chase had begun out of the city and through the woods.
As fast as you could, you ran through the mystic woods, a forrest travelers and locals alike were all wary of. It was the safest place you could go when chased by frightening palace guards on horseback that would do anything to take back what you stole and drag you back to the gallows. Even the woods heavy with fog and dark from the clouds overhead, had deterred your pursuers enough for you to slip out of their reach and deeper into the forrest where there was no way they would be able to track you. Here, you would have to wait until tomorrow and depart early. Then, you'd be home free and rich beyond your wildest dreams.
After what felt like hours of walking, you stumbled upon a bridge over a gloomy lake. In the middle, sat an old castle of gray stone and dark windows. A castle once said to hold a royal captive, but of course, you didn't believe such stories that were so old they were told to your own grandparents. This castle would be your sanctuary for the night. And maybe, just maybe, you'd clutch the jeweled box and dream of simpler times when you were told fairytales of locked away royals waiting for a savior.
The castle was exactly like those set in spooky tales, haunted by vengeful spirits and claimed by ghosts. It appeared abandoned, that much was obvious by the crumbling stone bridge and the battered old wooden doors that once protected the inhabitants.
Cautiously stepping over the splintered debris of the front door, you didn’t bother boarding it up since no one would be stupid enough to follow you inside.
There was wreckage and ruin everywhere. If you had to guess, whatever happened here, whether the people were driven away by conflict or time, it was followed by the destruction of time. Time with weather were likely all factors that led to the disarray of what was probably once a grand estate. Strangely enough, there was furniture and decor. Everything coated in dust and grime, but still here. Had people been too afraid to enter the grounds? There were so many valuables that could've been looted!
"I'll definitely have to come back here later." You scoff, turning over a few clothes or broken furniture with your foot to uncover possible hidden goodies. Maybe something as small but valuable as a ring was lost somewhere on the ground.
Proceeding to carry the golden box under your arm, you decide to search for the cleaniest, not-so-moldy room where you could spend the night. On the third floor halls, you see ripped curtains and frames where portraits loosely hung. Every rug was brown with dirt and dust.
There were items left behind, which showcased the life one led here. A piano too big to steal, the skeleton of a chandelier and broken gems hanging from its limbs, empty glass perfume bottles now filled with dust. The place must've been wondrous once, but now it was like a tomb. A setting frozen in time.
When you found moonlight filtering through the open balcony of what looked to be the master bedroom, you paused to see the space wrecked more than the others. As if more than just weather and time had affected this place. The owner of this castle likely slept in this very room, on that very bed where the sheets were ruffled and unkempt.
"I wonder who used to live here..." You murmur to no one in particular, as you approach the balcony looking over the bridge and woods. This would be a good vantage point.
A heavy fog settled over the woods, extending over the bridge like water. Good, an extra layer for cover. You stepped back into the room, analyzing every carved piece of wooden furniture, makeup and brushes stored on tabletops, a separate room as long as a hallway and filled with all types of articles of clothing.
If all this was still here, then was it possible some jewelry was left behind? You scoured the room, looking for hidden compartments while murmuring to yourself to fill the ominous silence. As you pulled back a curtain against a wall, you furrowed your eyebrows when you saw an uneven lump underneath the wallpaper.
Could this be handle leading to a vault of treasures? With that in mind, you ripped off the old wallpaper. A glimmer of gold made your heart soar with hope, but when you caught sight of your reflection, you stopped and stared. A mirror. It was a large mirror, oval shaped, with golden borders so intricately decorated. However, when a hand suddenly appeared on the other side of the mirror, like a ghostly apparition, you screamed and stumbled back.
A hand– there was a hand in the mirror! You stared with widened eyes full of shock, as the hand pressed its palm against the surface of the glass. You couldn't see anything else, no one behind the hand. After a second, the slim pale hand delicately pointed a long dainty finger at the box you were holding in a vice grip.
"What...? This? You want this? But..."
You had worked hard to procure this golden box from the royals. Pursing your lips, you contemplated your options, with so many questions running rampant in your mind. What was that thing? A magic mirror? A magic mirror would be priceless, much more valuable than any gold. However, if it was magic, it would be tricky. Possibly even sentient. So you'd have to gain its favor.
"Alright, alright, the box. You know, I went through hell trying to get this."
You informed the mirror, unsure if it even understood you. You carefully set down the heavy box in front of the mirror, and watch as the hand made a motion with its fingers.
Click!
It had unlocked the box, without even a key or tool. A grin broke out on your face. Had it done it for you? Apparently not, because the box opened on its own and a heavy thick tome floated out from it and into the air. The hand beckoned the tome closer, and closer it came, until it was literally phasing through the glass.
"Hey! Wait––"
The glass shattered, the sound booming and ringing out in the silence like an explosion. You only had a second to react, instinctually using your arms to shield your face from the glass flying out in every direction. When it stopped, you looked around. The mattress was shredded, the curtains torn to shreds, wooden furniture cut as if done by an axe, but miraculously you were somehow unharmed.
A breath, not of your own, caught your attention. Your eyes darted over to the now broken mirror, awestruck at the vision of a figure stepping over broken glass. They were beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, more than any words could convey. Their hair like gold and eyes an alluring shade of purple like two amethyst stones, soft pink lips, and a tall slim pale figure clothed in odd robes. For a moment, whoever this person was, appeared disoriented for a brief moment, but they clutched the tome like a lifeline. The tome that came from the box you had stolen.
"Thank you––"
He breathed, his voice quiet as he attempted to stand tall and upright. When his legs nearly gave out beneath him, you were there to catch his hand and prevent him from falling as he looked at you with appreciation. You were just stunned, bewildered, in pure disbelief.
"You... You freed me. You returned my stolen tome...!"
He exclaimed in disbelief, as he restored his posture. Somehow, he was able to stand in heels, but heels were currently one of the least important details.
What did he mean freed?
There was no time to ask any questions. The loud sound of the shattering must've alerted any of your pursuers that had followed you thus far, because from the balcony you could make out the torchlights weaving their way directly towards the bridge.
The mysterious man from the mirror took notice of your expression of dismay as he glanced at the distant torchlights. Smoothing out his robes, he looked back at you and took in your expression. "Enemies of yours?"
"Yes..." You nod slowly.
"Now that just won't do. I can't have anyone harming, or even killing my savior. I've yet to even learn your name." Tapping some well-manicured fingers against the spine of the tome, he appeared to contemplate something. When he stopped tapping his fingers, he smiled so sweetly. "I am Vil Schoenheit, prince and prodigy. Here's my proposition to you, my savior: I will destroy your enemies for a small price. You must tell me your name, and I will grant you my protection."
Of course you gave him your name, and almost immediately you saw the fog below turn an odd color. The torchlights flickered out, you no longer heard their encouraged shouts to move forward but instead their screams echoing in the dark woods. All after Vil murmured a few words in a foreign tongue read from his tome, as he continued to gaze at your intently. What exactly was he to cause so much death in a single instant with hardly any effort...? And you were stuck in this abandoned castle with him.
The prince had no plans to abandon you, he's made that much clear when you attempted to casually part ways after thanking him for getting rid of your pursuers. Stay. I can make it worth your while. Once I reach my former glory, you'll be able to bask in it with me. Is what he said as you swore you heard the front of the castle be sealed shut.
The entire time he looked around the castle with disdain, cross as he complained about the state of his home. While helping him clean up some rooms, he told you more about himself. Vil was a prince who once lived in this castle, set to inherent the throne shortly after the death of his father. However, he was widely feared due to being a prodigy in dark magics and genius at brewing concoctions. For attempting to steal the life of a younger kinder foreign prince who specialized in good magic, he was trapped in a mirror with his tome being the only key to grant him freedom.
Vil actually appeared to be much too fond of you, which you attributed to his isolation. If you were imprisoned all alone in a mirror for centuries, you likely would've gone insane. It was a miracle Vil's mind was intact, but maybe he wasn't there entirely. Because what sane person killed people with the snap of their fingers while smiling so kindly at the one who set him free?
Pridefully he listed off his feats and accomplishments. Living prodigy. Most beautiful man in the land. Prince of the land. It felt too much like flaunting, as he wanted you to realize how truly great he was. He replaced your clothes with his own, and while combing your hair he reminded you that what's rightfully his will be returned to him one day, and you would be there beside him that day.
The crown was what he wanted, a crown he believed was stolen from him and passed down to the descendants of the very good prince he attempted to kill. He spoke of a future in the castle restored to its former glory, where citizens would be loyal to him once again, and those that wronged him will receive a fate worse than death. Positions were open for applying once he became king, he told you one day. He was still searching for a vassal, a knight, a jester, or a partner to wear a crown as well.
Was it the isolation that had driven him to become so attached to the one who set him free? It was possible, but you couldn't even be sure. For all you knew, he could've been like this before he became trapped in the mirror. What mattered now was that he did not make any effort to hide his attraction towards you. Vil was offering a thief all the riches he would attain after his plan for vengeance, and his heart in a golden box.
"Keep the knives I gifted you, although I doubt you'll have to resort to lifting a finger. Just allow me to handle it when the time comes. I want to extract vengeance slowly and painfully, make them hurt just as they did to me... And at the end of the day, you will be there, you little thief who stole my affections, to comfort me and drive away those memories of cold lonely centuries in darkness. You'll be there for me, won't you, my valiant savior?"

Imagine yandere vampire hunter finding out he married one of the creatures he vowed to destroy. The very monster he dedicated his entire life to kill.
“…no..i-it can’t be..” his voice was barely a whisper, but you heard it loud and clear as if he was right next to you.
You stood still in the darkness, your face was a mask of indifference. If you hadn’t been blinking he would have mistook you for a statue. It appeared you’d been careless and let yourself be seen- by him no less. You could still feel the warmth of the blood dripping down you chin; a curtain of red fell down the front of your dress and stained it.
“Please tell me this isn’t real..” your husband let his eyes wander to the soon-lifeless body laying not far away. Small puffs of air was seen coming for the person, indicating they were not yet dead. The disgusting sound of gurgling in one’s own blood sent a shiver down his spine. His eyes met yours, searching for any sort of confirmation that everything was indeed a figment of his imagination.
“It is, I’m afraid.” You said.
He let out a devestatd choke, muttering ‘no’ over and over while shaking his head, clearly in denial.
You reminded yourself not to show any emotion and stepped forward. “I will not lie to you and therefor I will utter the clear truth in front of you. I am a vampire.”
“No, no you’re not.” He refused to believe it. If it had been his friend; he would prioritise duty before friendship. If it was his brother; he would do the same. Even if it was his own parents; he would die before letting insensible things such as emotions to come in the way of doing what is right. But this was different. It was you. It can’t be you. It could never be you.
But it was. Clearly. The evidence- the body- was right in front of him; unblinking and unmoving.
“You cannot look away from what is in front of you-“
“Stop saying that!” He suddenly shouted, surprising you with the sudden change in tone. “You can’t be one of….them.” He expressed in great repulsion.
Despite knowing how evil your kind is, you still though of yourself as quite good- well, as good as you can be when you’re a blood sucking, murderous creature of the night. So your husbands disdain awoke some sort of defensiveness in you.
“Well I am. And I have been for a while now.”
He seemed to think for a moment. Then he asked, “how long? How long have you been a…a vampire?” He furrowed his brow at the end, not believing he’d connect ‘you’ and the word ‘vampire’ in his life.
“36 years. Not as long as some others, but it should still count as something.”
“Oh god..”
It meant that you were one since the start- no before- your marriage. Was he truly that blind? Had love taken such hold of him that he could no longer do his job properly?
How many vampires had he killed during you union? All that while simultaneously being wed to one himself. While loving one, caring for one and even making passionate love to one. It was like some fucked-up punishment tailor-made for him.
He knew what he had to do.
The first tear fell down his cheek, betraying his stern expression and showcasing his endless sorrow. “You are evil,” he raised his crossbow, “and now you have to be judged for your crimes.” How ironic of him to talk about committing crimes of slaughter as if he wasn’t doing exactly the same. He wasn’t stupid; not all immortals were pure darkness, it wasn’t that simple. They do what they have to in order to survive. Only some killed more than they had to. Still, it didn’t change the fact that they all need to be destroyed.
Your eyes widened when he pointed the weapon straight at you. You expected this. Of course he would kill you. However, a part of you could not stop from hoping he wouldn’t think of you as a monster. That perhaps you’d finally find somewhere you can call home and be accepted for what you are. It was a naive dream. Weren’t you his wife before you were a monster? Apparently not, because an arrow shot at you at incredible speed. It hit you in the arm and you cried out in pain.
While you had physical advantages, it doesn’t mean you are immune to pain.
Ripping it out, you studied the black liquid staining it. Your husband swore and immediately prepared to launch another. You felt your fangs grow in length and you hissed at him. Throwing yourself at him the two of you rolled around on the floor, each trying to restrain the other. You managed to get ahold of his crossbow and threw it away form his reach.
Your husband quickly dug into his pockets to grab a dagger, and tried to stab you. Luckily you stopped him in time, fighting him with your vampiric strength. You had to give it to him, he was surprisingly strong for a human. Despite you having supernatural gifts, he was definitely a match and you had a hard time holding you down. If it was any other situation you would have been impressed and rather seduced by his sheer strength, unfortunately this was not a good situation for you.
You leaned down, planning to bite him, but his fast reflexes let him use his free arm to keep you at a distance. He was now on the floor with you straddling him and trying with all your might to end his life.
Your husband knocked your heads together which was the distraction he needed to kick you off of him. You clenched you forehead in pain and backed away. But there was no more time to dwell on that pain, because it was minor compared to what you felt next. Agony was in your side, accompanied by the dagger you had previously defended yourself against.
Your lover was close. Enough for you to feel his breath, and enough for you to see tears running down his regretful face.
“Why was it you?”
Whether he referred to you being a vampire or you being the one he married, you did not know. It hardly mattered anyway.
In a way, you did love your husband. It was probably not in the normal spousal way but it was there. Maybe if you weren’t a blood-sucker you two would have been truly happy together. Too bad fate had other plans. Even though it was true that you were probably evil, you wanted to live. And despite the one threatening your existence was none other than the man who’d show a you devotion and love you though t you’d never find again, this was not where you wanted it to end.
With a shriek, you used all your power to push him as hard as you could. He flew backwards into the wall. You supposed he’d fainted from the force since he wasn’t making any move to get up. You clutched your side and groaned. You had to get out of there; somewhere safe.
You stumbled to the window and put your foot on the ledge. The dagger he’d stabbed you with must be silver, otherwise it wouldn’t have made as much damage. The wound in your side burned and sizzled with pain. You had no idea if your body would be able to fully heal you in time for when you need blood again- or even at all.
“Ugh….”
You heard a cough from behind you. It was your dearest. He must be sturdier than he looks to have woken up so quickly. He had rolled over to lay on his stomach and had his arms pathetically stretched in your direction.
“D-don’t go.”
You scoffed at his audacity. “What, so you can finally finish me off?”
He whimpered, “ N-no, I’m sorry… I shouldn’t have done that- why did I do that?” The last part appeared to be a criticism on himself. Nevertheless he continued, “please, I won’t do it again. I was wrong, you’re not evil I know that, I don’t know why I said that. I’m so sorry, please..”
A frown adorned your face. “It’s okay. I’m not evil, but I know I’m far from good- I’m not that delusional.” Then you turned back to the view of the outside world.
“Wait, no-“
“I have to go. I really mean it when I say this, ‘thank you for all these years together, they have been the happiest days I am now able to remember’.
“My love, don’t-“
You ignored his pleas as you jumped from the window. You landed in the dirt outside. You looked back at the house which you’d just escaped from and as you prepared to run off to another town and build up a new life (until you’d eventually have to run again) you listened to the scream of the man who’d been your husband for six years.
What was he screaming? What else if not your name.
