Yandere Team 7 Headcanons (Platonic)

❝ 🍥 — lady l: I couldn't get it out of my head and I just wrote it... It was longer than I expected but meh. I hope you like it and forgive me for any mistakes! ❤️

❝tw: obsessive and possessive behavior, overprotection, mild stalking and implicitly toxic relationships.

❝🍥pairing: platonic yandere!team 7 x gender neutral!reader.

When you became part of Team 7, they didn't think much, or, some didn't think much or really foresee problems. Kakashi accepted you immediately, being welcoming from the start. He was confident that you would fit in well with the group, and in fact, he demonstrated his support openly and consistently.

On the other hand, some team members were more reserved. Sasuke and Sai, in particular, kept their distance at first, not showing much interest in getting closer to you. In contrast, Naruto and Sakura were more excited about your arrival. Naruto, with his warm personality, soon sought your attention and approval, while Sakura enjoyed spending time with you and engaged in conversations whenever she could.

However, as more time passed, you found yourself closer to each of them in your own way. They all cared about you to a degree but it didn't take long for it to get out of hand.

Kakashi was your sensei and he cared about you a lot, to a suffocating level. Naruto seemed to follow you around like a puppy, desperately wanting your attention and approval. Sakura liked to talk and spend time with you as much as she could.

Sasuke wasn't that open but he seemed to like you a little, especially when he acted strangely when others were around you. Sai hid the fact that he liked you better, but he still showed that he cared about you. Yamato was more expressive, showing his affection with encouraging and affectionate words.

Kakashi Hatake is extremely overprotective of you and he doesn't even try to hide it. He will always have something to say to anything you do, the people you talk to and your assignments. As your sensei, he has developed a strong feeling of responsibility and affection for you.

He is always attentive to everything you do, giving advice and warnings about your choices and relationships. His intention is clear: he wants to ensure your safety and well-being above all else. This behavior may be a result of the losses Kakashi has faced in his life, making him more wary of those he cares about. Kakashi will always be aware of everything about you.

Naruto Uzumaki is the most effusive and open about his affection for you. He follows you around like a puppy, constantly seeking your attention and approval. He is warm and genuine, always ready to support and cheer you up. He is a constant support for you, always ready to be by your side.

He can be somewhat obsessive, not because of his constant search for your approval, but because Naruto has moments when he finds himself imagining future scenarios for you. He wants to take care of you, he needs to have you by his side, it's almost like an obsession. Naruto cannot be despised by you. He can't.

Sakura Haruno becomes your close friend, enjoying spending as much time as possible by your side. She enjoys your conversations and company, seeing you as a confidant and a faithful friend. Sakura, being a person who deeply values her relationships, finds support and connection in you that she values greatly. Her affection is demonstrated through her constant presence and willingness to help.

She becomes a constant presence in your life, always appearing wherever you are with an excuse. Sakura is quite clingy and she needs to stay by your side as a form of reassurance. She will take care of you, not only because she is a medical ninja (in training or not) but because she likes to feel useful around you.

Sasuke Uchiha is more reserved, but he shows his appreciation in subtle ways. Although he is not overtly affectionate, he pays attention to you and acts strangely when others are around, indicating jealousy or special interest. Sasuke is complex and reserved, but his implicit protectiveness and careful looks show that he cares more than he lets on.

He is extremely possessive and, although he won't express it in words, Sasuke is very jealous of others towards you. He sees himself as entitled, not just because he likes you, but because you belong to him. Sasuke can't explain why and he doesn't even mind, but he is possessive about you and will fight with anyone who spends too much time by your side or looks at you the wrong way.

Sai Yamanaka initially seems indifferent, but little by little, he shows that he likes you. He hides his feelings well, but small actions, like being there when you need him or doing something kind for you, reveal his affection. Sai is in the process of understanding his own emotions, and through his interactions with you, he begins to express these feelings more clearly.

Although he doesn't show it clearly, Sai has his subtle ways around him. He doesn't show it much, but you can see him smiling often in your presence and often clamming up when someone else makes you laugh. He's not that possessive and he respects your boundaries, but Sai likes to have his solo time with you.

Yamato is more expressive in his affection. He uses encouraging words and open displays of affection to show you that he cares about you. He cares about your development and well-being, and his affection is visible and comforting. Yamato acts like an older brother, always ready to support and advise.

He is not afraid to express how much he likes you, and how much he admires you and will express this both verbally and physically. Yamato isn't suffocating but he likes to be around to ensure your safety. He has no problem with you having friends other than him, but he needs to know that you are his favorite, your number 1.

Together they are incredible protection for you. Kakashi is the main instigator of this protection. He watches your every step with an almost paternal concern. Naruto brings tireless energy and an unwavering sense of loyalty. His obsession and devotion to you means he's always close by, ready to spring into action if necessary. He daydreams about you and constantly looks for ways to please and protect you. Sakura is the empathetic and caring friend who always makes sure your emotional and physical needs are met. She is your confidant, always available to listen and care for you.

Sasuke acts as the dark guardian, always vigilant in warding off any potential threats. His critical assessment of the people around him makes him highly protective, especially against those he deems unworthy of you (everyone). Although he may seem distant, his dedication to keeping you safe is intense and relentless, eliminating any danger before it can get close to you.

Sai offers a silent balance, always at your side with practical advice and emotional support. He is the quiet observer, attentive to his needs and ready to act discreetly. Sai understands the importance of being present without being intrusive, ensuring you always have someone to rely on in times of uncertainty. Yamato is the encourager, always ready to lift your spirits with positive words and affectionate gestures. He is your constant moral support, always there to remind you of your worth and give you confidence.

As time passes, each member of Team 7 develops a unique relationship with you. They all care about you to different degrees and in different ways, creating a complex and rich dynamic. The mix of your personalities and the way each person expresses their affection makes you feel valued and an integral part of the group, despite the challenges that this closeness can bring.

They eliminate any possible threat with efficiency and determination, functioning as a cohesive team with a single goal: ensuring your safety and happiness. After all, they can't risk you leaving them, right? Not that they would let you anyway, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

The Strawhats would have heard of you from stories of Jimbie or Robin explaining the poneglyph that consisted of your name, which could be traced back from Skypiea and ect.

This is just a rundown of how some strawhats knew about your existence :3

Luffy would have definitely heard many stories about you from his grandpa or the Red hair pirate, Shanks saying that one day you will be his bride and all.

Franky would have also heard stories of you from Tom and from Kokoro, he might have read your name in the Pluton sheet (I forgot what it’s called 😭)

Nami would have overheard from Arlong and the other fishmen because Sea Serpent! Reader is basically their Goddess.

AND ROBIN OOH LOORRDD, Robin would actually have an obsession on you before you ever even met the Strawhats, the old books of Ohara would have so many information out of you, and since you were close to Joyboy she would always somehow read your name in one of the poneglyphs which made her incredibly hooked on you.

Sanji from Zeff and you being related to the ocean, you must know about the all blue them!!

But ya know just one day the crew were just fishing, everyone is doing their own thing, Franky made a huge fishing net to capture more fishes, which works perfectly fine (more food for Luffy yippiee) and just yoink. They just yoinked Sea Serpent! Reader out of the water while she was just sleeping…. Means the Strawhats woke her up from her nap dawg😞

Sea Serpent! Reader: Umm…Hi? You woke me up from my nap.

Luffy would be starry eyed while Sanji is turned into stone when he saw your beauty, Zoro would be on guard, Chopper,Ussop and Nami would be freighted, but Nami would have this sense of familiar towards you, while Jimbie, Robin, Brook and Franky (aka the oldest) are amazed that YOU ARE ACTUALLY REAL!! (World government hid you from the world basically) I mean they knew you were real but ya know the world government and stuff…

The Red Hair Pirates Shanks specifically KNEW YOU ALREADY, but only stories from Roger and Reighley, Shanks knew that you were real but was only being hold as a dangerous being to the World Government so they have to somehow keep you in a leash, but that didn’t really stop you from exploring island to island and that where you saw the Red Hair Pirates, drunk or not Shanks would start flirting with you the minute you agree to join their party ;3

BEAST PIRATES LETS GOOO GRAAAGGHHH

You saved Kaido from drowning after his “I have lost count” attempt, you the dragged his ass back to Wano, but before you can leave you were SOMEHOW detained and kept in a fancy room, that’s when Yamato met you, he heard that King ordered you to be held captive for a while, and the closer Yamato saw you the more you reminded him of the stories of Oden in his logbook about a Sea Serpent who had travelled with the Roger Pirates for only a few months, and when his suspicion was confirmed he immediately jumped out of his hiding spot and went to hug your tail, you were shocked but the boy Yamato kept on ranting about you, about opening up Wano and Oden and stuff, Yamato even said that after Wano is open he will marry you!!! (King is fuming rn)

The power you hold when it comes to the Marines is insane, the Gorosei will always send at least one Admiral to check up on you or if you’re going somewhere. It’s no secret you despise the Celestial Dragons, how could you not! Those are the people that brings extreme slavery and injustice not just towards your people but to everyone alike. You swear to Akainu that you didn’t even hit the celestial dragons boat, you just accidentally nudge it!! No you didn’t sent waves towards a boat that contains a bunch of Celestial Dragon, you were just swimming and your tail made too much force!! You have to forgive Sea Serpent! Reader!!

Shikamaru Naara:

He would use his shadow jutsu to bind you. With your arms and legs wrapped up, you have no way to fight back. He would leave you helpless, constantly smirking and sneering at you while you beg for release. With your hands tied up, you’re unable to reach for a shuriken or form hand seals.

“God, this is such a drag. I mean, you’re just so boring. Can’t you at least fight back?”

Naruto Uzumaki:

I don’t think Naruto would ever raise a hand to you no matter what. That being said, if he were to punish you with a jutsu, I think he would punish you with his Talk no Jutsu. I really just can’t see him causing harm, so he’ll get through to you with the art of words. He will manipulate you, make you feel like everything is your fault and that you can’t see how much he’s doing for you. He’ll make you understand him, understand just how much he loves you. This jinchuriki wont stop until you can fully appreciate his efforts to discipline you. You’ll probably be in tears by the time he’s done talking your ear off.

“Now do you understand me? I love you so much. I can’t stand by anymore and do nothing!”

Sasuke Uchiha:

Sasuke isn’t above pain and humiliation. One of his favorite ways to punish you is through burning you with his fire jutsu. He’d flay your skin, delighting in the way you scream and writhe beneath his touch. He’d caress your skin when it’s all over, admiring the way HE has caused you such pain.

“There now, see? It wasn’t that difficult. If you didn’t want me to do that, then you should have obeyed.”

Kakashi Hatake:

If there’s anyone who could figure out how to make Chidori more whip-like, it would be this guy. He’s adamant to get through to you, and if he has to use a jutsu to do it, then so be it. You better pray that the Copy Ninja is in a good mood because if he’s having a really bad day…be prepared for One Thousand Years of Death.

Yamato:

He would probably just use his “draconic methods” to make a paddle from wood and jutsu your ass with it.

“These archaic measures are effective in securing your obedience, so I will punish you accordingly.”

Gaara:

To him, he punishes you with his sand. To you, he torments you with the damned element. The tiny grains swirling about you, attacking your skin in various ways. You’ll scream from the pain as Gaara stands there with his arms crossed. He looks stoic, not even giving away an ounce of his emotion as he strikes you with what feels like more of a whip rather than sand. On the inside, he’ll wish you could have been a good girl so he wouldn’t have to do these kinds of things.

“I don’t like doing these things to you. Why do you make me punish you like this?”

Uncannily good at working together, I imagine. Both have similar daddy issues and probably would fixate on the same person that fulfills their unique brand of needy crazy. They want you in awe of them, all the time. Near them, in their arms, holding it being held by them.

Honestly until your entire day revolves around then, they'll always be a bit jumpy about your relationship. And secretly insecure about it too but selfish and impulsive enough to hold you tight no matter what.

If you did manage to run off it won't be for long.

Yandere Cloning Yamato

(I haven't seen Wano so sorry if this is shit. Also, I will be using they/them to address to Yamato as I am unsure what pronouns they actually use.)

One word. Delusional.

Yamato believed that they were Kozuki Oden and seemed to basically become who they were. If they fell for you, they'd fall so hard that they'd immediately start calling you their spouse and believing fully that you love them and this goes harder with the fact that there are multiple Yamatos.

Yamato ate a mythical zoan devil fruit and this comes with some cool abilities. However, Yamato's seems to be the ability to duplicate themselves, something that is odd since the power doesn't really correlate to the mythical creature they can transform into. They don't mind though since it's a useful ability and it allows them to always be with you.

Yamato will stop at nothing to protect you, you're their top priority in every single situation. Whenever casually walking around, they'll always be holding your hand or giving you a piggyback. If they feel that you could be in some form of danger, two Yamatos are by your side, sometimes even an entire group making a circle around you. It makes it very hard to see when their 8'8 frame is all around you!

Whenever there are multiple Yamatos, it will usually result in one of two things and it depends on the situation. If they're around to protect you, it's almost like they're a hivemind. They move in perfect sync in order to protect you from the littlest of danger. However, if they feel you're completely safe, they'll end up competing and fighting for your unrequited attention, failing to remember that they can just merge back together to solve the problem.

Yamoto is very clingy. They'll always be right by your side, not leaving for a single second. If you try and get some space, they'll likely lift you into their arms and not let you down unless they know you aren't gonna run off. Plus, they don't wanna put you down, this is now snuggle time!

They'll always be trying to snuggle, whether in public or alone in their room. Yamato will be lifting you into their arms, being a big spoon, lying ontop of you and wrapping all their limbs around you so you can snuggle for hours and hours on end.

Jealousy isn't just a thing between clones. Yamato can basically get jealous of anyone, especially if you admire that person for their strength. Yamato is meant to be your super strong warrior! Your Oden! Those people aren't anywhere near as strong as them and they'll prove it!

Yamato can certainly be alot to handle but, trust me, they're far from the worst yandere out there.

If you try to fly away; ace will burn your wings. And you met yamato and let say he was in love with you now; now you stuck with yamato and Ace.

And how did you become a bounty hunter? Well, let say that ace forces you to kill the marine. If you don't listen to him well, he'll burn your wings more and more until you have no wings to fly.

As for yamato, he'll find you when you're hiding from him. When he finds you, he'll lock you up and best hiding spots that nobody will find you.

Ace and yamato share with you one of the times. You couldn't escape, even your feathers can move a thing. What else are you gonna do? Nothing...

A Path to Destruction

*Sort of Victorian AU or Fairytale AU ( I got this inspiration from Maji LOVE Kingdom Heaven’s peformance)

You have received a letter that guarantee all rights to a castle which your long distant relative once owned. However, there seems to be some people who already lived there...

If you had known from the start how deep the forest would be, you had never accepted the invitation in the first place. Being on rather from humble upbringings, with no parents or relatives in this world you could rely on, since all of them died in the latest plague, with you being the sole survivor, you had never dreamed of your family owning a castle, as it said in the invitation along with a golden heart shaped key necklace with a large stone that glowed in different colors in the middle of the heart shaped key.

There was just one problem. The castle, as it said in the letter, lied in the deepest parts of the forest which was very far away from the village you lived and grew up. The people of the closest town all shook themselves in fear once you asked of the rumors about the castle, saying that they do not want to be involved, leaving you with no clues. Your old brown skirt was ripped due to nearby thorn bushes, and dark blue simple shoes were worn out from all the walking, not to mention the white blouse being dirty from the dirt, and your y/h hair was messy. Furthermore, the dim light from the full moon was your only guidance among the dark forest, with low growls all around.

As you walked with tired feet, you saw a dimly lit glow in a distance straight ahead. Desperate for any information, you started to dash with the pain of your feet increasing. The forest grew deeper, vines growing thicker, the dim moonlight glowing thinner, trees being larger within every step, blocking the views of others, or perhaps with will.... Could it be that they are trying to hide you from the outside world?

As the dimly lit glow became closer, you spotted an old-fashioned streetlight glowing dimly. As you got closer and closer to the light, a faint note of a slightly creepy playing of the pipe organ welcomed you into this unknown lair. The streetlight was only the part of what surprised you, as you saw a giant castle which glowed in a fiery green and blue color with the lights of the castle turning on in order. The heart shaped key necklace hung around your neck, suddenly pulled you with great force to the gates as it glowed in a bright orange-red color, unlocking it with ease. “Wait!!! Why... What’s happening?” You screamed as the necklace continued to pull you into the castle grounds, failing to notice again the heavy sound of the gates locking, and 14 pair of suspicious eyes glowing inside, smiling as they knew, you were walking on the path to destruction.

Just imagine. Sea Serpent! Reader who is EXTREMELY HUGE/TALL. Like this is one piece man everyone is tall a$$ fvck bro, but like in Google it says that a sea serpent is 60.96 metres or 200 feet in my research so uh.. IMAGINE Sea Serpent! Reader who just woke up from a hibernation and already started going attention from the World Government, they try their best to recruit you so they sent the admirals but ohhh boy.

Since Akainu, Kizaru and Kuzan were the first person you've met after a very long time, you picked them up on their coats like how a mother cat picks up their kittens and how they tried their best to get out of your grasp but when you put them on your hands near your BIG BWEEBIES (I LOVE BEWBIES :3 I'm a fucking lesbo) . They really tried their best not to look on your chest (Kizaru is trying his best.) Akainu being the more professional one he tried his best to follow his orders while Kizaru and Kuzan were just basically using the devil fruits around you.

Kizaru could just be in your palms and in a second next to your shoulders, while Aokiji was secretly using the highest temperature he could do so he can see your reaction (kinda kinky ngl). Akainu is out here trying his best not to melt those two. You really tried your best to listen to Akainu's proposal yet you can't when you're out here squishing each of the Admirals cheeks:3

Let's say you agreed to be in the marines cuz why not? It's been a long time since you felt the thrill of an adventure! And somehow you were already high ranked because of your brutal strength, plus your fishmen karate you could practically control tides. The world government tried their best to not let your presence be known in public cuz bro. YOU ARE BASICALLY A WALKING HISTORY BOOK FOR HOW OLD YOU ARE.

You were immediately given a high ranks as a Vice Admiral, the world government then gave you a house...or beach?...Body of water? I DUNNO but a big place with water that's your home :3. You only spend most of your days, there only being visited by higher ups and the forced isolation were already yandere tendencies to the Admirals + Platonic Yanderes such as Sengoku and Garp.

Corazon and Coby (Sea Serpant! Reader was found way before) were only exeptions to see you, and they were immediately HEAD OVER HEELS. Corazon could not think straight or THINK whenever you're mention in a conversation, he would just immediately day dream. Size difference? I mean yea the only smallest form you can turn is like 20 feet or something BUT IT CAN WORK IT WILL WORK (take that as you can 😈) Sengoku is Corazon number 1 hype man🔥 While Garp is Koby's hype man lol :3

Now if you were lucky enough to even have some kind of freedom but if some kind of MIRACLE you were placed as a Vice Admiral picking up the Warlords when it comes to a serious meeting it would be an interesting sight, let's just say that they went to the meeting not because they were interested in the shit show of a meeting but they do want to see the 200 feet tall Sea Serpent again...

AND QIQBAIA8 And since you were found long before, let's imagine that you were a Rocks Pirate. (I HAVEN'T READ THE MANGA YET SO SORRY IF MY INFORMATIOM OF THE ROCKS PIRATES SUCKS). You were the eye candy of the Rocks Pirate. Big Mom, Kaido, and Newgate would always be 24/7 ON YOUR SIDE, they will one make you join their family one day !!

After many years they are still doing so, Kaido making you marry one of his calamities. The Tobi Ropo even tried some flirty moves on you, but Yamato. Dear lord. Even with or without his father's consent YAMATO. WILL. MARRY. YOU. END. OF. STORY.

You know, some of these asks confuse me a little cause like.... What answer are you really expecting me to give here? Like... They're yandere (presumably for you/reader) so of course they'd be all for positive attention? You expecting me to say the crazy-for-you-version of already unhinged characters would hate physical contact of any nature, let alone soft and intimate???

It might be more of a question without the yandere aspect, but here it's more like, who'd be more into it. Hot take, they'd all hate it cause you should be on your knees, jk, that be more Zoro, Smoker, Nami, and Boa's thing lol

So I guess the most interesting answer I could give is that out of all of them, Zoro would act the most chill about it. He's not usually super expressive to begin with, so he's not actively losing his shit when you do it. Loves it even if he pretends to not notice. May tuck your hair out of your face or something when you're passed tf out.

Nami would be pretty damn flattered and soft but also pretty chill cause she doesn't want to disturb you. Maybe braid your hair or otherwise play with it.

Yamato would be losing his shit but internally because he doesn't want to ruin the moment. You'd definitely notice if you looked at his face though. Absolutely living for it.

Boa would very nearly knock you off because she'd react very physically in her excitement but would quickly compose herself and apologize, encouraging you to return to your previous position. Likely make something up like being startled by a pesky fly or something.

Smoker isn't losing his shit really, but he does act put out. Definitely not telling you to get off though, even if he has shit to do. He can make time for a nice nap between the two of you, though he'd likely prefer to hold you. Best time to pull this is if he's reading reports. He's liable to give you head pats absentmindedly or pet your hair/head in general.

Hot (Vergil x Reader)

Warning: Yandere behavior incoming.

When you met Vergil, the first thing that popped into your mind was: "Man, he's scary looking." The second thing that flashed across your beautiful brain was: "Man, he's hot."

Of course, you'd never say that aloud.

After talking to you a few times, Vergil came to the conclusion that you were as soft-spoken and reserved as he was--and he liked that. He liked having someone to sit next to and relax with in silence; comfortable silence, rather than the awkward, nervous silence that typically took place whenever he tried to sit with anyone.

The two of you quickly bonded thanks to this, and before any of you knew it, feelings (though they were hidden) blossomed within you. To put it simply, Vergil soon developed a crush on you, and you a crush on him.

Since neither of you were aware of the shared feelings between you, you hid your emotions and tried to give each other clues by doing things. After all, actions speak louder than words.

One day, Vergil walked into Devil May Cry wearing something that was not his favorite blue jacket. He was wearing a black, fitted, turtleneck tank top that emphasized his abs and prominent biceps. After noticing your blank staring, he explained that Dante had burned his clothes during a mission they previously went on, so he was forced to dig up some of his old clothes to wear until he could buy new ones.

"Ah...great."

"Is there something troubling you, Y/N?"

"No...no, it's just...well...you look nice. That top suits you."

You said this with a massive blush on your face, which quickly spread to Vergil. "Really?" He replied, clearing his throat rather loudly. "I see..."

From that point on, he began wearing tank tops more often, hoping to get another compliment from you. Unfortunately, his hopes were crushed the day you came home, eyes bright and shining, jabbering away happily about some man you met while you were out--a man who was "just as fine as you are, Verg!" Vergil's blood was boiling deep inside his veins. His anger was so abundant, he had to hide his face behind his book to keep you from seeing how red his face was. You talked and talked, your words serving to convince him that someone had usurped his throne--some human was receiving more praise than him! Absolutely unheard of!

Vergil listened to your words politely, as the last thing he wanted right now was to make you upset with him. He was quiet and very, very angry; rigid in his seat. You soon ran out of things to say, your sudden talkative outburst gone for now. As soon as you'd left the room, Vergil bolted to his feet and out the door, the Yamato in his hands.

He'd find this person you were so infatuated with, and after he did so, he'd remove his presence from this earth.

warnings: reader is a humanoid version of Yamato, reader is also a bit obssessed with Vergil (mild yandere behaviour?), cussing, a bit of angst, fluff

summary: after opening a portal two decades ago, Vergil has lost his most prized possession, his sword. What he doesn’t know is that it had been reformed as a humanoid somewhere around the world, and that it was ready to be with him again.

a.n: I don’t know if you wanted wholesome sex or just wholesome, but this is what I cooked up. Sorry if it’s a little disappointing? I’ve had this idea brewing for a bit and there’s definitely room for expanded lore, so if you liked this, you can send me another ask so I can work more on this!

It was really cold for a while… and dark. You were used to darkness, but this was a different kind. It was lonely out here. When you came to, you weren’t yourself, and you weren’t with who you were supposed to be. You were alone.

You stood and wobbled, not used to this form… You leaned yourself against the damp walls of the alleyway you found yourself in, and noticed a puddle of water beneath your feet in which you could see your reflection. You looked… human? How was that possible?

Your mouth trembled as if you were trying to speak, but no voice came out. Your head hurt, and you could only vaguely remember two things: You were Yamato, and you belonged to Vergil, son of Sparda. Nothing else.

…

“It’s been 20 years, Vergil, knock it off, me and Nero already said we were sorry about what happened to the sword anyway, can’t you let it go?” Dante asked with an exasperated sigh, trying to move around the papers and documents Vergil had gathered over the years in his futile attemps at locating his sword.

“Let it go ? You’re pretty foolish if you think I’ll simply give up on the Yamato, Dante, it belongs to me and me alone.” Vergil snapped back “And it’s solely your fault that I don’t have it with me for the past two decades, so if you could please at least pretend you’re helping for two seconds.”

“I’m not good at pretending, brother” Dante snickered, leaning back against his chair “Besides, your sword has a connection to you, right? Just like mine? If it didn’t find you now, maybe it doesn’t want you anymore or somethin-”

Before Dante could finish his sentence, he was lifted off his chair by the collar, making the chair fall on the ground. Vergil gripped him tight and firmly, an unforgiving gaze painting his complexion.

“Don’t you dare utter another word out of that filthy mouth of yours” Vergil sneered between gritted teeth.

Dante simply smiled, before Vergil let go of him and walked away, leaving the agency and shutting the doors angrily as he left.

“Where is that ray of sunshine going to now?” Nero asked from the couch as he fiddled with his mechanical arm.

“Probably going to look for his sword in the sewers again or something, he’s completely lost it”

…

Vergil wasn’t a man to give up on the things he wanted, especially things that were his by right, like his sword. It didn’t matter to him if it had been two days or two decades, he was determined to recover Yamato, no matter what.

After another week of searching in the surrounding areas, going as far as to go through the entire city and the cities next to it, when he was about to turn back, he felt something.

A spark, almost.

And he knew. It was Yamato.

Frantic, almost desperate, he began to blindly follow that spark… bumping into people, getting his boots dirty, it didn’t matter. He had never felt this close to it before.

It was a rare sight to see Vergil this disheveled and unhinged, but there he was, as he stood by an alleyway, hair having come undone, clothes dirty and unkempt. And so he saw it…but his expression showed disappointment.

“…What is the meaning of this?”

What stared back at him wasn’t his sword, but a person. Unclothed, and human. You.

Despite his expression, you felt a wave of nostalgia wash over you, as well as relief. You wobbled towards him, stopping just before him to face him.

“….V….ergil?” Came out from your lips like a shaky whisper, and, as if you had spoken for the first time in your life, you touched your lips in surprise from the voice that came out of you.

Vergil on the other hand however, didn’t know what to make of this situation at all. He stared, his eyes searching for anything that could be missing… but he couldn’t ignore the sensation he felt. This… was somehow… what he had been looking for for the past 20 years.

“…This can’t be… Yamato?” Vergil finally asked in disbelief, visibly struggling to make sense of it all.

Hearing that name made your eyes widen. It felt familiar but also strangenly distant. Was that who you were? Something in you told you yes, but at the same time… it was if you weren’t just that anymore.

In a flash, memories came forward… The moment Vergil used Yamato to open the portal 20 years ago, and what happened afterwards. How your body broke and transformed, and you were left in that voidless darkness for however long it had been. That changed you.

The information was too much for you. You felt your consciouness waver, and before you realized, you had collapsed against the man.

…

Once you came to, you weren’t in the alleyway anymore, you were in a bed, and clothed. Opening your eyes slowly, you could faintly hear voices from outside of the room.

“You’ve completely fucking lost it, haven’t you? Bringing in a random homeless person here and claiming that’s Yamato?”

“I wouldn’t have brought a random person if I wasn’t sure, Dante. I’m not insane. I can’t explain it, but that really is my sword. It’s… just… different.”

“Are you sure you don’t need a vision test, brother? Because I sure do not see a sword anywhere in that room.”

“I don’t know how to explain what happened, but the connection is there. I can feel it. I don’t know how or why, but when we met, it… they… recognized me. This can’t be a coincidence.”

“Oh, so let me get this straight, after relentlessly looking for Yamato for the past two decades, you suddenly ‘feel a spark’ that leads you to a dirty alleyway where you find a naked person who mutters your name, and suddenly that just explains that you found what you were looking for? Holy shit, you really did lose it.”

“You wouldn’t understand the type of connection I have to Yamato in the first place, Dante. It lead me to Nero when he took it, and it led me to it again. I just have to understand why it looks like… that.”

“You know what? Do whatever you want, Vergil but don’t get me involved in this. If the police comes knocking by about kidnapping or something, I’m not here.”

You could barely understand what they were saying… but you had a feeling they were talking about you. You sat up, looking at the loose shirt you were given… it had his scent. Your memories were fuzzy and your brain hurt, but you were relaxed… he had found you and that was all that mattered.

After a couple of minutes, Vergil had entered the room you were in, looking thoughtful and rather preocuppied. You watched as he approached you and sat at the edge of the bed next to you. For a few moments, it was silent between the two of you… until he started speaking, finally.

“…Tell me everything you remember.”

You took a moment, something within you made sure you knew that depending on the answer you gave, it’d dictate what would happen next.

“…I was… alone, for a very long time.” You began.

You told him all you remembered… the portal, the darkness, the rift. You couldn’t tell exactly that two decades had passed, but you could definitely tell you had been alone for a while. You told him moments you two had in battle, how you tried to talk to him, to give him strength, to give him more power, but that no matter what, it seemed there was a wall between you that couldn’t be broken, because at the end of the day, you were merely a tool.

You told him how you felt all those times, how you felt when you were apart, but that’s when he raised a hand to interrupt you.

“Stop.” Vergil spoke, clearly convoluted with his thoughts and feelings. “How… do you know about all that? It… doesn’t make sense.”

“…I… have always been by your side.”

“…But you’re not Yamato. I don’t even understand what you are exactly.” He spoke, staring at you.

“…I don’t have a satisfactory answer for you to explain my nature, Vergil.” You spoke rather calmly despite the situation. “…As your tool or not, I had always been capable of feeling. It’s what connected us to begin with. The thirst for power, of growing stronger… it’s what filled us.”

“Stop it.” Vergil stood, troubled. “Don’t talk as if we’re intimate, it isn’t possible we are connected in any way. What do you know about the sword? Where is Yamato?”

“…You feel it, too… don’t you?” You asked, lightly touching your own chest. “…The spark. It’s what reactivated my memories, as well.”

Silence fell in the room again. Vergil simply shut his mouth and turned away, walking out of the room and shutting the door. You stared, leaning back against the pillows and sighing, staring at the ceiling. Truth be told, if you knew of a way to go back to being his weapon, you would do it. But you didn’t understand what was happening to you either. You didn’t know why things were the way they were, but you knew the rift changed you.

You were satisfied with just being by Vergil’s side again, but clearly, that wasn’t something Vergil was happy about. You couldn’t blame him though, he wanted a sword and what he got was a person. You were of no use to him the way you were.

Was… he going to throw you away?

That thought alone made you spring up, leaving the bed and wobbling to the door, opening it. Vergil was no longer there, and you felt a rush of what could only be processed as anxiety as you wobbled through the corridors to try and find him.

You told him everything you remembered, you knew he felt that connection as well, so he couldn’t simply throw you away, right? He couldn’t. He couldn’t. You were his, and he was yours and he just couldn’t do that to you.

“I’m afraid you were right, brother.” You heard him speak downstairs, making your eyes widen. “I think… my obssession with finding Yamato had made me sick.”

You’re filled with rage. How dare he? How dare he discard you as if you were nothing?

In a fit, you jump, and without a second’s notice, your hand is through Vergil’s stomach in a mighty stab. The man gasps.

“W-What….the….-”

“Vergil!” Dante exclaims, before something takes place: Vergil’s Devil Trigger is activated.

It shouldn’t have been possible.

Just as it shouldn’t be possible for his sword to look, act or even present itself as a human.

But there you were… a physical manifestation of Vergil’s sword. You were there, and you were real.

…

4 months have passed since then.

Nero and Dante don’t get involved with you and they had expressed a lot of disapproval once Vergil had decisively shared he’d keep you around a few months ago.

Naturally, Dante didn’t want Vergil to permanently crash in the agency’s building, especially carrying whatever you were with him, so the two of you had to go somewhere else.

A run-down apartment building in a shady part of town was all he could afford, which was not very fitting for someone of Vergil’s standards. However at this point in time, there wasn’t much to be done about it.

“…We should try it again.” Vergil spoke, seeing you on the floor, breathing heavily. “We’re close, I can feel it.”

“…I don’t know how to do it, I don’t know if I can go back to being Yamato again, Vergil.” You shakily responded, looking up at him from where you were.

“You already know you have its powers within you, I wouldn’t have kept you otherwise, you know you can do this” He exclaimed, but backed away once he looked at your face, noticing your expression.

There were small tears in your eyes, you bowed your head. He would’ve left you if you hadn’t triggered his devil form back then? It explained the relentless attempts at trying to make you unlock your potential in these past few months. You thought this was for another purpose… because he did believe you were part of him, that he was simply trying to restore the connection you two had. You understood now.

“…Why can’t you just accept me for the way things are right now?” You shakily asked. “…Back then, I was more than just your sword, I was more than just a tool, we were one.” You gripped the floorboards with your nails. “…Why can’t you see we’re connected regardless of what I am?! What do I have to do to prove it to you?!”

“…If you were truly Yamato, you would know better than to be dependant on such fickle emotional bonds. What we have is tied to our ability to grow stronger. Nothing more.”

“You’re lying!” You shouted, standing and forcefully gripping him by the collar. “…I asked you if you felt that spark I felt when we met and you refused to answer me. Each and every time I ask about our connection, about how it feels for you, you refuse to give in, refuse to let me know what you’re thinking and what’s going on in your head. I know you feel it, and that you’ve felt it all along, so don’t make me feel ridiculous about it when I know you’re not a cold slab of stone like you’re trying so hard to seem to me and everyone around you.”

“You didn’t keep me just so you could figure out if I could go back to being a sword or not. I know you, Vergil… you just don’t want to be alone.” You whispered, before letting him go.

“…” Vergil was silent for a moment. “…You’re weak.”

“…I’m a direct reflection of your inner turmoils, Vergil. If I’m weak, then what are you?”

You could see Vergil’s lips trembling, as if he was trying to think of something to say. But no words came out, only tears. It was the first time you’ve seen Vergil cry.

You lightly approached him again, and wrapped your arms around him. He fell to his knees, and surprinsingly, hugged you back.

“…You’ve never been alone, Vergil. I had always been with you” You whispered, making sure to hold him close.

“…I can’t endorse in these emotions. They make me weak.” Vergil stammered, struggling to contain his tears.

“…It’s just the two of us… You don’t have to be anything for anyone, much less to me. You can just be… you.” You looked back. “…Allow me to just be me, Vergil… allow things to be different.”

You sat there a while.

It would probably take a long time for Vergil to accept the new reality of things. To accept he wasn’t alone, and more importantly, that he was loved by someone.

But it didn’t matter.
