"healthy" doesn't always mean good in fiction. Eremika's unhealthiness is what makes the ship compelling and interesting. It's built into the core of the story. Also your "healthiest ship" requires ignoring that he emotionally manipulated her into keeping her mouth shut about his genocide plan and threatened to have her memories erased. Historia never expressed any interest in him that way. Men and women can in fact just be friends.

Yes healthy doesn't always mean good, in fact it can actually lead to some very boring ships, but that is still a perfectly good thing to look for in a pairing.

In contrast unhealthy can be interesting, but mostly leads to abusive relationships that get glorified by the fandom in spite of their toxic nature, and in this aspect Eremika is no exception. These two are just awful for one another.

He headbutts her, call her names, tells her he hates her (I know he didn't mean it, but it wrecked her emotionally so my point stands) put her in a situation that could have gotten her killed, never confided in her regarding his plans etc...

She was an overbearing mama who constantly treated him like an incompetent child that couldn't do anything on his own.

What's compelling in a relationship with this dynamic:

"Eren eat your veggies!"

"Eren put on a coat, or you're gonna catch a cold!"

"Eren don't run you're gonna trip!"

Oh and don't get me started on this

She literally deluded herself for years into believing that everything he did was somehow tied back to her. Even Armin, Reiner and Berthold gave her the 🙄 look.

Also her entire character revolves around him and it makes her super boring and robotic. Even after he dies she spends her life worshipping his grave and dies with that gosh darned scarf on her neck. She only took it off once ( when she gave an ounce of development) before cruelly snatching it from the hands of a dying girl that was using it for comfort (something I'll never forgive her for).

She was originally meant to break away from him but alas, good writing died after 134.

Annd the story never revolved around them. Mikasa only became the protagonist in the last chapter out of fucking thin air and it looked soo forced. Lmao Hisu had more parallels with Ymir than Mikasa of all people.

The only time their relationship mattered was at the end of season 2, but after that we got nothing important.

Last thing on this dumpster fire of a ship... They're boring asf.

Like I know some unhealthy relationships that are toxic and all, but the characters have chemistry, and it can make up for the awful shit they can do to eachother. Eremika has no chemistry. I would rather watch paint dry than think about them romantically.

Regarding Erehisu... Have we read the same aot chapter? Or just the same conversation between Eren and Historia? Because I don't think so.

He emotionally manipulated her to keep her mouth shut

What? When did this ever happen? She chose to stay silent. Hell he didn't even need to tell her his plans, it was quite risky, since she could have snitched on him to the Mps and ruined everything.

He chose to confide in her cause he knew she wouldn't tell, cause she was the worst girl in the world who saved him, the girl who chose her selfishness over the world already, in that cave when she saved him, when she told him that she would always be his ally, that they were enemies of humanity.

She never wanted the future that she was destined to if she accepted the 50 year plan. She had accepted it for the greater good. Something selfless that only Christa could have done.

He knew that, and reminded her of who she really was. A selfish, normal girl like everyone else.

She was shocked by the genocide that awaited them if they followed Eren's plan but ultimately chose it over sacrificing herself and her future children. Totally in character, no manipulation involved lmao.

He threatened to erase her memories

Nope. She was upset so he offered to lighten her burden by erasing her memories if she wanted to. It was a proposal made out of empathy for her shock. No threats, where did you see em?

She was never interested in him

Say what you want about her feelings for him, interpret them how you please, but you can't deny a connection from which feelings could blossom. This meme perfectly sums up my thoughts about this:

Yes men and women can be friends, I just don't see it this way for Erehisu. Actually I could tell you the same thing for Eremika. Better as siblings lol.

My friend and I came up with a whole comprehensive Yumihisu/Levihan friendship hold on this is so important to me. Long post ahead I’m gonna spill it all.

Hange and Historia forming a friendship when Hisu is crowned Queen. Because like- from my understanding Hange is a government official/prime minister type person in the years before season 4 picks up so they’d be involved in meetings and such with the rest of the government.

Hange and Historia forming a friendship over gossip, Hange cracks a joke after one of the meetings once everyone’s gone, something about now Nile is a shit for brain dummy man, and Hisu loses it because THATS WHAT SHES BEEN SAYING they end up talking for like 4 hours about the military gossip over tea. After that they meet weekly to compare notes and shit talk people.

Hange unintentionally taking a parental role for Historia, like figure that Hisu can talk to, get advice from etc. Parental/Mentor Hange is the only thing ever actually and I adore them so so much. Historia def tells them about Ymir and their relationship and Hange is like lmao Levi is the same :) this is how Hisu finds out they’re a thing HDHFHDHSJ

On a more crack fic/joking note, historia finding Hange’s projects without question 😩 “Yesyes the survey corps need money to- *checks notes* see if titans can get drunk. Fund it. No the MP’s cannot have more funds to pay their staff we don’t have the money 🥰” Hange causes much chaos from this.

Both of them have a grudge towards military police from the s3 arc and it shows. Hange has the freedom to make digs at them in meetings because historia will just try not to laugh she ain’t policing that

Hangs wrapping meetings up quickly because they can see Historia is getting annoyed at the MP’s and like, she’s just a kid she shouldn’t be dealing with this!

Hange donating their old books and resources to the underground kiddo’s Hisu saved because they deserve an education! What if one of the greatest scientists of all time is one of those kids and they don’t have the resources to learn! Not on Hange’s watch

Their gossip sessions would be INSANE though. Hange being called to Historia’S office for a serious meeting one on one. Levi is like… the fuck did you do?! Hange gets there and as SOON as the door closes Hisu drops the biggest fucking bomb like. “NILE KISSED __?!?” Hange is shaken to their core.

Hisu trying to make Hange’s hair less messy and greasy. Hisu failing to make Hange’s hair less messy and greasy- like braiding it. Hell, having it be Hisu’s idea to cut it shorter in the first place. Hange doodling on their and historia’S papers in a meeting coz walls know that bitch canNOT focus. They play tic-tac-toe on the pages when the MP’s are being annoying. Hange being named godparent to Hisu’s baby. Hange babysitting. “Hello little one… ever heard of a ✨ Titan ✨ “

Hisu calling the scouts peasants and such as jokes. Like. @ Levi. “Sorry can’t hear your short ass over my massive wealth </3” she never directs this at Hange and it fucking baffles the others. Same energy as “I’ve never done anything wrong in my life”, “I know this and I love you.” The others don’t have as much political involvement as Hange so they don’t realize they became buddies- except Sasha who walked in on one of their “meetings” by accident and just never mentioned it because it’s Funny.

Other military officials making fun of hange coz they’re a weird little guy and trying to get Historia the-drama-Queen- Reiss in on it but she shuts that shif down and they’re like ?! Tf coz usually she LOVES gossip. Hisu giving the most tedious tasks to people who talk bad abt Hange. Hange hears someone talk shit about the Queen and they get two weeks horse duty with the manure.

Hisu interrogating ANYONE who wants ANY money before giving a grant. Does Not Care what Hange wants.

“I want to see what happens if I launch a Titan off the walls” “sure sure give my treasurer a number and tell them I said so” the treasurer is on their hands and knees BEGGING THE QUEEN TO STOP ALLOWING THIS. Hisu is like wow Steve I didn’t know you had no value for scientific discovery. Historia looking Levi right in the eyes and explaining that she can’t possibly fund his selfish Tea Wanting because blah blah caffeine shortage- in the background Hange has a comically large bag of cash they’re about to use to commission a Titan sized saddle to see if they can ride one like a horse.

Hisu ASKINF for Hangw’s opinion on everyone she hires coz Hange is a fucking dinosaur they made it their business to know everyone and they do. Hange can get a guy hired on their Okay alone.

Hange teaching Hisu self defence. Hange teaching Hisu how to fold a motherfucker while wearing a ball gown and 10inch heels WHILE looking good in the process.

Hange and historia reassuring eachother about their new roles coz they’re both super insecure about the Queen/commander roles.

Protective! Hange!!!!! They have a spare seat in their office and a designated cup for Hisu should she ever need somewhere to get out and chill. Hange telling hisu she’s done more for the people in a month then the last king did in a decade and she should be proud of herself. Hisu telling Hange Erwin was a Dick and they’re doing great as commander.

Hange doing their BEST to not interrogate Hisu about ymir being a shifter and just listens to her instead coz Hisu misses her girl a lot.

Anyways Ymir and Levi pretend this is like, Ymir never left AU.

forming a begrudging friendship. Neither of them knows how it happened or when and neither will admit they tolerate (read: like) the other. Neither of them knows Hisu and Hange are friends. Levi learnt about Ymir’s past and was like damnthat sucks and is unconsciously slightly softer towards her than normal. Ymir calls him a short grumpy old fart and he doesn’t floor her. The rest of the cadets are like THEFUCK⁉️⁉️

Connie tries it later and Levi folds his ass. Ymir laughs at him.

Levi annoys Ymir a Little Tiny Bit and she puts a thin layer of dust on his desk PAINSTAKINGLY all week no matter how much he cleans it. He has no clue it’s her. He thinks he’s cursed. Levi having no social skills and randomly saying the most intense shit-

Levi: ever thought about what you’d do- how you would react if the people who wronged you most in life were sitting in front of you right now?

Ymir who popped into the kitchen at 1am to get water, unknowing that Levi was there: what-

Levi having the grossest shit boy humour and trying to make jokes to Ymir. She never laughs. He explains in depth why it is funny. She slowly adopts gross humour over time.

Levi: did you see shadis? That man looks constipated as HELL he needs to take a collosal sized shit-

Ymir: the fuck is wrong with you shortass

Historia is like Why are you making shit jokes all the time, dear? In turn Ymir is like why do you never gossip with me anymore why is that

Ymir having the sibling effect of “only I can roast Levi” if anyone else calls him short she’s up in ARMS. Levi telling Ymir about the Chair and thinking it’s low key hilarious. But ew. Levi being like “I read in the paper the other day-“ Ymir no hesitation being like “ok grandpa.” Levi just continues on. If either of them talk about their past the other listens and then they pretend it never happened like an emotionally stunted dad.

Ymir calls Levi a shorty and transforms, before she’s even done he’s cutting her out like TF DID YOU SAY⁉️ Ymir transforming and realizing she can No Longer See Levi FUCKFUCKFUCK- like. “Oh I can’t see Levi ….. OHICANTSEELEVI—-“

Omg ! Eren and Ymir DO look alike ! My headcanon of Ymir/Hisu asking him to be a sperm donor is becoming clearer ! And you’re right, it’s also probably because they are broke and he has a debt 😅 He thinks it’s not a big deal but then he mets Mikasa and he has to explain why his friends is expecting his child and is often in his house 😬

i feel like historia would only run this by eren if mikasa was okay with it, which...yeah it is because it's meant to be done via turkey baster or at a doctor's office. nothing else.

although i feel like what happened is that hisu asked for this after helping eren get into medical school and eren had his sperm saved up for use later. then he met mikasa and there's a complication years later like wait of shit!

Can we talk about how underrated “I will always be your ally” is? It speaks to how much trust Hisu had in Ymir, that even when Ymir was aiding and abetting the people who destroyed the walls, Historia still trusted in her reasons and wanted to save her. They deserved so much better. 😭😭😭😭

My reasons to ship Erehisu

About two weeks ago, I got an anonymous ask that reads:

what made you ship erehisu? I don't ship anyone in the series (and defo not eremika lol) and I want to understand the reasons

...but when I tried to answer it on my app, it turned out that I can only post 10 pictures per post, so I decided to make a longer, regular one with my thoughts on this topic 😄 Erehisu remains one of my favorite ships in the series (...with the other ones being Yumi/hisu and Levi/han), so I really enjoy talking about it (...well, at least I did, before I started moving away from the series after that mess of a finale). Without further ado, my reasons to ship Erehisu are under the cut (just a quick warning: the pictures are obviously not mine, and there are some anti-eremika themes in this post).

They had an actual developement

As we know: in the beginning, Historia was pretending to be this good, selfless girl Krista. Later on, we learn that Eren was not particularly fond of her façade (...keep in mind he was the only person who noticed that she was acting off, too - obviously excluding Ymir, who was Historia's closest person and knew about her secret). As Historia chooses to embrace her identity and stop pretending, his opinion on her changes - he reassures her and appreciates the real Historia.

You’re just normal. Just a normal girl who’s absurdly honest. (Eren, ch. 54)

Eren...that day...the time you called me...normal. That made me really...happy. (Historia, ch. 65)

Later on, after Historia saves Eren in the Reiss cave, his thoughts on her change even further. There isn't just something that he likes about her anymore - instead, he starts to actually admire her strength and actions.

Even further on, he prioritizes her safety and hides an important piece of information that could help Paradis' cause - only because it could potentially put Historia in harm's way.

Keep in mind that there was a time skip in between these chapters, which means Eren kept this secret for years. He hid it even from Armin and Mikasa. After it's finally revealed, he strongly disagrees with, and fights against Historia becoming a titan for the sake of the island. Eren’s sentiment towards Historia is even noticed by Hanji on a few different occasions - it’s something that Hanji brings up while questioning him, later on.

Eren also meets Historia in secret, warns her of danger, and downright doesn't let her sacrifice herself - even when she assures him that she's ready to do it.

She's also one of the only people with whom he shares the information about the rumbling. He also brings up her own words that she said to him back in the Reiss cave.

I believe he doesn't fight for her just because she's one of his friends. It's a natural progression that comes from the shared experience they had in the Reiss cave. Eren got to know and appreciate the real Historia, so whenever she reverts back to the Krista persona, he's there to remind her that she should live for herself and don't let others use her - just like Ymir told her, and just like Historia told him in the Reiss cave. When Eren stands up for Historia in ch. 107 and blatantly refuses to let her get sacrificed, she's actually touched to the point of tearing up.

Their relationship changes and deepens with time, and it's actually shown in the manga - not just as symbols or small hints, but actual, full-fledged conversations/actions. In my opinion, this should be the base of any well-estabilished ship. We have quite a few one-on-one moments with these two that illustrate this progression. There are also panels in which we can peak into Eren's thoughts on Historia, which makes for an unfiltered source of his opinions on her.

They can relate to each other

Something I find really important as well is that Eren and Historia can find each other very relatable, and therefore - understand each other's struggles better.

Both were used by their fathers, and both caused their demise. Both were fiercely protected by someone. Both felt like the world would be better without them, at some point. Both had a big role to play, despite having doubts if they can do it right (Eren, being humanity's titan; Historia, being the queen). Both wanted to sacrifice themselves for their people's sake - and both intervened, saving each other from actually going through with this decision.

Their relationship is well-balanced

Eren and Historia don't clash when it comes to their personalities. As their relationship grows, they mutually admire, protect and motivate each other, while still remaining two separate characters - with their own goals and traits. They freely talk to each other about their struggles; they also care about each other’s actual feelings on them.

I can easily see them as partners, which is something I've always had troubles with when it comes to EM. It's just hard not to make this comparison, since Mikasa's character has always been pretty much fully centered around Eren, which - in my eyes - made their relationship look unbalanced and toxic. I've already spoke about my issues with EM in depth in this post, so I won't elongate this one with repeating the same arguments - still, one of the reasons I started shipping Erehisu in the first place is the fact that I immediately saw it as a much more normal, healthy, and well-balanced alternative to EM.

Parallels and relevance to the story’s themes

Parallels are something that, for some reason, make a lot of people mad. I have no idea why - these things appear in the manga, so why not talk about them?

Aside from parallels between Eren and Historia (...please, keep in mind that I didn’t list all of them in this post), there are also a lot of obvious parallels between Historia and the founder Ymir - to the point, when the entire Requiem der Morgenröte ending revolves around this theme:

Aside from that, there are a few subtle Grisha/Dina and Eren/Historia parallels, as well. Historia is a royal, hiding as a regular person - just like Dina did, before joining the revivalists. Dina also tears up when Grisha stands up for Eldians, just like Historia does when Eren stands up for her.

Quite interestingly, in a lot of these parallels Historia and Eren act in an opposite way as to previous generations. While Frida teaches Historia to be a good, selfless girl, Historia ends up abandoning this persona to save herself and Eren in the Reiss cave. She doesn’t want to devote herself to fate - instead, she’s prepared for a showdown with it. While the founder Ymir’s children are ordered to eat their own mother to ensure her power’s succession (...and a few hundred years later, Grisha fights to return the founder’s power back to his wife - Dina), Eren does everything he can to ensure Historia and her children are safe and never even titanised in the first place. 

As the story unfolds, we learn about it’s leading themes - some of which are: oppression and fighting for freedom, desire to change history, the mechanism of circle of hate, and how it affects children who are a part of it. In my eyes, Erehisu just perfectly fit with these themes, especially considering how later on Historia’s pregnancy was handled in the manga.

There were countless ways to answer the who’s the father question? immediately, without even starting up conversation about it - for example, I don’t understand why it was needed to bring up the fact that Historia didn’t marry the farmer in the first place. What was it’s purpose, aside from stirring up theories - especially considering how in the last chapter it’s revealed that they are married, after all? Why end up the Eren/Historia flashback on the What do you think about me having a child? question, when the whole conversation they had beforehand was literally about Eren disagreeing with Historia wanting to get pregnant just to save herself? It doesn’t make sense, and led me (and many other readers - judging from opinions I read online and chapter reactions on youtube) to belive that there were other reasons, and that there was more to this conversation then was initially shown.

If the conclusion to this plotline was always supposed to be that she got pregnant just to save herself...then what was this mysterious built-up for? Why show this conversation in the first place, and in such a weird manner, too? Why not have Historia just say it out loud in ch. 130: yes, I got pregnant to save myself in the beginning, and spare us this whole I will not allow it talk...you know, instead of ending the conversation on the What do you think about me having a child? when the whole previous talk was about Eren fighting against it? Where’s the logic?

The truth is - from my perspective, Erehisu had a lot of logical build up that would benefit the story, and stay true to it’s already established themes and both characters’ previous developement. On top of that, I also think they simply had great chemistry.

to be fair, reiner would probably be really subtle about trying to get you to together

he would also strategically sit away from bert so you could sit beside him

um? im genuinely curious as to why u would want historia to be with men after Ymir & Historia’s relationship was confirmed that they are lesbians, and that they were going to get married if Ymir hadn’t died & the only reason Historia forced herself to be impregnated by a cis man was to save herself from having to inherit a titan and eventually die from that.. like idk how u look at a lesbian couple and go: yeah i want to actively ship one of them with a man even after u saw how her personality switched entirely to happy historia with light in her eyes to depressed and miserable historia after Ymir died & she was forced to have sex with a man.

Been re-reading some stuff for writing fic, and I just keep coming back to this chapter and this scene and I can’t help it.

So we know Ackerman surname is often translated to Farmer:

Ackermans can’t become Titans. Much later, this is confirmed. They are literally ant-Titan and anti-Founder in every way 😂.

The story of Ymir and/or Christa - a story about a girl who gives her fruit to a monster hidden beneath a hood. At least in Historia’s version he wears a hood. If you look closer on the cover of this book, as its shown in the anime, it’s interesting ...

Two girls, two apples. One with a crown the right way up, decorated with what looks like flags. The other, the crown is upside down - signifying the end of rule? The disruption of power? - and what’s more, the crown is made of plants and flowers.

So … does the book Frieda reads to Historia literally tell the tale of how the Royal Family’s reign will come to an end? How the era of the Titans will end? A girl giving her fruit to a monster under a hood …

ANYWAY.

The scenes in Grandpa Ackerman’s room are shown in a Kenny flash back right in the middle of the scenes where Historia literally overthrows her father and rejects her destiny as successor of the Founding Titan.

The chapter is titled Dreams and Curses. In a much later volume, we are shown that Ymir is a girl that ‘dreams of a world free of curses and fate.’

That world comes into being with the destruction of the Titan powers and her freedom from PATHS.

Which, so randomly, coincides with the birth of this cutie …

All that gorgeous wavy hair! I wonder if there’s anyone else who has hair like that who’s been connected with royalty … Uh, wait.

Isayama also said this once:

Look. I’m not saying it’s what happened. Clearly the guidebook tells us Historia married her stone-throwing bully, no wait, her ‘childhood friend’ and had a child with him.

I keep thinking about this anime scene addition, back in Season 1.

New life from the darkness: Youth is like fireworks

They worked in silence for a while, before Eren spoke again, as he realized he forgot to share the news, which probably everyone but their superiors knew.

“Speaking of children and Historia: did you know her and Ymir are going to have a baby?” he asked. Hanji stopped their work and stared at him with wide eyes.

“Historia? With Ymir?” they asked, trying to understand what he said.

“Yes. I mean, no. I mean, technically she's not pregnant with Ymir, that's impossible, but they're going to raise this baby together, so I guess we can say it's their baby” he explained and the commander seemed to understand. But quickly another question arose.

“How do you know that?”

“Annie received a letter from Reiner and he spoke to Hisu recently” Eren answered, it was not much of a secret anyway.

“Oh, Reiner? How are him and Bertholdt doing?” Hanji asked, remembering that the two of them were very problematic, yet rather good guys.

“Pretty good. They're almost done and told us that as soon as we're done here, we have to visit them, because they have some plans. Armin and Sasha are convinced they are going to get married.”

“Get married? That would be terrible for me and Levi. Another kids are getting married and we aren't even dating properly” Hanji chuckled and shook their head with disbelief. “When did you all grow up like that?”

“Don't worry, Hanji-san, at least you and captain have each other. Jean has no one” he chuckled.

“You shouldn't make fun of him. He's your friend.”

“More like frenemy. We trust each other with our lives, but only because we always had to, not because we wanted to. He's still jealous of Mikasa, as if it was my fault she loves me. Honestly, I wish he had a significant other, maybe we could actually get along. Everyone says we have a lot in common.”

“You do. More than you think.”

“I'm slowly acknowledging it. Don't tell him that, but I actually know he's a good man and I wish him all the best, because he deserves to be happy. And deep down I knew that if I wasn't meant to make it out alive, he would take a good care of Mikasa. And while I want her to love only me, I guess I could accept if she decided to be with him, because her happiness is the most important thing to me. But don't tell him that!”

“Oh, they don't have to” Jean spoke suddenly, as he appeared suddenly with Mikasa. Eren's face blushed furiously as he realized how much he exposed himself. “Captain Levi told us to check on you and to bring you this” he pointed out the boxes he was carrying, Mikasa also held some. They all contained stuff Hanji needed. “We didn't mean to overhear your conversation, but it's good to know you think that of me. I guess you should know that it's mutual” he admitted, not looking anyone in the eye. “But that doesn't mean we're going to be best friends now!” he stated, putting the boxes down. Suddenly Eren dropped what he was doing, approached Jean, grabbed his arm and pulled him in a hug.

“I hate you” he said, though his tone and body language were saying otherwise.

“I hate you too” Jean replied, hugging Eren. When they pulled away, they heard a sob.

“Mikasa, are you crying?” Eren asked, raising an eyebrow.

“I just never thought I'd actually witness something as amazing as this” she laughed, happy tears were running down her cheeks. She put her boxes down and ran to the men, pulling them both in a hug. “I'm so happy you finally matured enough.”

“Alright, as much as I wish for you to get along, we have something to do, so less hugging, more working. Levi isn't the most patient recently, I guess that heat is killing him. Let's not make him angrier” Hanji suggested and Jean immediately let go. Mikasa wanted to part either, but Eren stopped her and wiped tears from her cheeks.

“Don't cry because of me” he said quietly. “Ever. No matter what the reason is.”

“Your mom would be proud to see what man have you become” she smiled.

“I know” he replied, looking at Hanji. “Now go, don't make the captain wait” he gave her a quick kiss on the lips.

“I'm not afraid of him. Shorty needs to chill.”

“But I am and I'd rather not be punished, especially for last night. Yes, they know, they saw through my lie” he sighed.

“I know. Levi already gave me a talk.”

“How was it?”

“Not bad, actually. He really tried to not seem angry. Hanji would probably say that he was really nice and emotional, but I'm not as good at reading him as they are.”

“Hey, lovebirds, get your butts back to work!” Jean yelled at them.

“I swear, this guy...”

“Let him be” Mikasa smiled and kissed her boyfriend softly. “See you later?”

“Of course” Eren nodded and let her go. He watched her leave, love and adoration were very clear in his expression.

“Don't ever try to tell me you don't love her” Hanji teased him.

“I do, alright? I love her so much that it hurts to let her go, even though I know she's a couple of meters away and I'll see her soon, it hurts to watch her leave me. And to think we could have ended up like Hanna and Franz, it's scary” he admitted with a sigh.

“Who?”

“They were a couple when we were in training, always together, inseparable, despite denying they had any relationship. And they met a miserable end. I haven't seen it personally, but Armin told me once, when he had a nightmare about them. During battle of Trost, Franz was torn in half and killed, but Hanna was so shocked that she performed CPR on him until Armin told her it's pointless” he sighed again. “It's both romantic and painful, to love someone this much that you refuse to accept their death. I think that's how I feel about Mikasa and it scares me.”

“I understand that. I was really close to losing Levi and I was so scared then. I joked that he was so stubborn he refused to die, but later he made me realize that it was me, in fact. That I refused to let him die. I've lost so many friends, that I couldn't imagine losing him too. I still can't. And that is scary, how deep your bond must be that you'd like to bend the laws of nature for that person.”

“So you admit you love captain, commander?” Eren asked and Hanji sent him a death glare.

“Keep going and Mikasa or not, I'll murder you.”

“That's actually quite interesting how many similarities are between us. We're both impulsive, stubborn, with self esteem issues and in love with overprotective Ackerman” he noticed. Hanji still looked like they wanted to kill him, but they couldn't deny there was a truth in his words. “All according to Armin, of course.”

“Ah, that explains how you know that. Well, this kid is very perceptive and smart. Sometimes too perceptive, for his own sake” they chuckled.

“What do you mean?” he raised an eyebrow, not sure what they had in mind.

“That if you think you have a secret, Armin probably knows it already.” There was certainly more to the story, but Hanji didn't want to go into details.

“Unless said secret being Annie's feelings for him, right?”

“Yeah, I think he's a real pro in avoiding the topic by now. And he had the audacity to tell me I'm being obvious about my feelings.”

“I know, right? I can't even count how many times he told me I should confess to Mikasa, especially when I wasn't ready to admit it to myself, let alone to someone else. If only I knew about him and Annie, I wouldn't let him nag me that much” Eren said, definitely unhappy about the whole situation.

“We should make him pay” Hanji smirked and their eye twinkled with mischief.

“We absolutely should.”

“And I think I have an idea how...” they quickly filled him in. The plan was simple, yet effective and it had one goal: to make Armin confess to Annie.

“Hanji-san, you're a genius” Eren was definitely impressed by his superior's intelligence. He always thought his best friend was the smart one, but he totally forgot that their commander was behind most plans and only their combined abilities allowed everyone to save the world.

“I know. Now let's get back to work.”

Witnessing the light: Isayama's subtle portrayal of love and EM development

Some days ago I noticed that two canon couples, Falbi and Yumihisu, were witnessed by Eren. On the other side, as shown in the last chapter (132), Mikasa interacted with Annie, which made her a witness of this couple, Aruannie. In both cases, Eren and Mikasa are related to specific roles in those couples that they play in their own relationship (but of course being oblivious to it).

The process of witnessing is an important action in SnK since it’s the only way to afford trustworthy knowledge, and not only the truth, but something that’s far away from oneself. In addition to that, witnessing works as main trigger to learn how to live.

And I want to point out that panel of Ymir watching the light she couldn’t reach. She witnessed love in the world but she wasn’t meant to reach it personally but through witnessing the story of her descendants. She witnessed 2000 years of Eldian history.

So I’ll describe every couple’s interaction core to look for similar concepts...

Yumihisu (witnessed by Eren, ch. 51)

As a noticeable moment, I remember Historia's happiness as she finally found someone to be with. She was alone, wanting to find a reason to justify her death as she felt unworthy of life because the world wanted her to disappear. After joining the SCs, she knew Ymir, who saw her true will, accepted her as she was and also showed her how to live.

Ymir didn't allow Hisu's facade of a cute little goddess to distract her from Historia's true self that was actually full of pain and loneliness. Despite of that, she wanted to be with her offering a place to stay, which was exactly was she needed. A lonely girl who was saved from a world that rejected her.

In return, Historia made the same for Ymir and requited her intensions to be with her. A fully requited love where one would do the same for the other with the only will of protecting the future of the other.

Falbi (witnessed by Eren, ch.97/98)

Falco's only goal was to save Gabi from dying young and start a family with her in the future. He chose to fight in order to save her and his love was one of the reasons why Gabi gave up on revenge and hatred and started to take care of him. Both freed each other from their chains that kept them apart from having a future. Another girl saved from his own darkness.

Aruannie (witnessed by Mikasa, ch. 132)

They could love each other despite of being enemies. Both were able to see the value they have as a sign of mutual recognition. Annie could see his bravery and Armin could see more than a Monster in her. He could see through her to reach for the girl that was searching for an ally in a world that was against her.

First, she wasn't able to understand why a person that she (still) considers pure would love her. But in the end she realized that he held feelings for her that overcame what she did and that he sees themselves as equals. She found a person who loves her despite of everything. Another girl who was saved from being alone and having to fight.

How does it feel like to be loved in that cruel world?

All the times these concepts come in the way: Love as understanding and acceptance of the true nature. Love as compassion, the feeling that a person just accepts who you truly are and doesn't ask you to be perfect just because your existence is precious and deserves to be loved.

So love in this world means togetherness, having someone to be with in the cruel world. Not being alone anymore. A feeling that saves you from the darkness and frees you from the pain. It's about teaching each other the value of life. It's mutual respect and protection. A sort of unconditional love that aims to save the loved one from the darkness.

And something important, really important to make me write it again: Reciprocation as an echo, were one of them does something and the other reflects it back, when the first one needs it.

Love being witnessed by those who still don’t “see“ it

As I stated before, every couple was witnessed by either Eren or Mikasa, to make them understand something about themselves.

Eren could see Ymir’s strong will to protect Historia and know the implications of her deciding to sacrifice herself to guarantee a future for Historia. Something he is doing now for love to her and his friends. Historia’s loneliness after losing her is something that may happen to Mikasa after the curse takes Eren’s life so he decided to make it easier for her by pushing her away.

By talking to Falco, he also understands his own need to be the one protecting Mikasa and not otherwise. Protection is something that Mikasa always offered to Eren and while he couldn’t get it as teenager, he grew to understand it as it is: a sign of love. The feeling of being unable to do something to save the persons he loves is an unsolved complex that Eren never could really overcome. That’s why he may have felt connected to Falco.

In a similar way, Isayama set up all to make Mikasa have this talk with Annie. If the concept of Aruannie is “love despite sins”, Mikasa relates to Armin in the way they love a "monster". She gets to know what it feels to be the monster (Eren's role) and not wanting to fight any longer. It’s also possible that she’s finally gotten that Eren attacked not only the truth behind their own bond but also the truth behind Armin and Annie’s bond... which is exactly the same: Love.

The way Eren and Mikasa interact echoes the feelings and goals other couples showed. The difference lies in the fact that they all showed a higher level of awareness and honesty with their feelings, which is something that Eren and Mikasa are yet to afford. While we have seen how they grew aware of their feelings, the honesty will be the next step when they face each other in the coming chapters.

Eren pulls Armin into paths and shows him memories to explain things (Zekken doesn't say what) .

They have a fist fight by the water, Armin wins, they fall down looking at the water and hug before saying goodbye.

Armin wakes up and runs over to the crying Mikasa. Pure titans return to humans, everyone is okay.

Reiner hugs Karina (Zekken says mom and son hug but its obvious who).

Levi sees the dead scouts and Hange (she's singled out so probably in front?).

Jean and Connie see Sasha smiling at them. Armin dealt with the final problem (Zekken's words, not mine).

Mikasa takes the head and starts heading somewhere (the fort I guess).

DETAILS:

Eren wakes up in the Paths and meets Ymir. Ymir and Eren have a debate about whether or not humanity deserves to survive. Eren says that even if the world can be cruel, his friends prove the goodness of humanity in impossible odds, which enrages Ymir, and she wraps him up in chains before striking him with a bolt of lightning. Ymir suddenly collapses, unconscious.

Armin enters the Paths again and confronts Eren at a riverbank.

Armin and Eren have a fistfight, which Armin wins, pushing Eren into the water.

Eren tells Armin that the only way to win is to kill him, and hands him a knife.

Armin refuses to kill Eren and embraces him instead.

Eren takes Armin to paths.

Seeing previous events and continuing the conversation with a looking at the sea Armin hits Eren.

After the scene changes, Armin hugs Eren and sits down for a final goodbye.

Armin wakes up and sees Mikasa.

Titans have changed back to the way they were, everyone is fine.

Levi saw the commander HanJi and others in paths.

Jean and Connie saw Sasha smiling in paths.

Reiner, mother and son embrace.

Armin to deal with the endgame.

Mikasa takes the lead.

A few years later.

The queen celebrated her birthday with the man behind her, holding the child.

The others also grow up and take a boat far away to Lena also sat.

In the distance adults Gabi and Falco with the captain in the wheelchair.

The birds in the sky flew by.

The people on the boat also saw U I do not know where.

Rimikasha under the tree next to the small graves.

The bird came and pecked Mikasha's scarf and went away on its wings.

My thoughts:

No mention on EH conversation from chapter 130?

No mention on Historia's child name?

No mention on the Tatakae (fight) moment in the final chapter of Attack on titan?

No mention how exactly did the centipede (coordinate) died?

No mention on Yelena and Kiymoi

The pure titans are turned back into humans is the curse of Ymir broken?

How dose everyone get back to paradis island if all the airships are destroyed and the curse of Ymir is broken?

Hanji and the scouts are in the paths? I thought they were supposed to be in the afterlife?

How is it possible for Levi Jean and Connie to see the scouts if their not dead?

A few years later? That means Historia's child would turn 2-3 year's old?

Mikasa takes Eren's head?

Eren and Ymir (the founder) fight? I thought they were working together along?

No mention of surpassing the(ir) father? Or your are free?

No mention on Eren's human body?

No mention on Pieck or Annie?

Gabi and Falco are adults?

No mention on the farmer's (unknown) name?

No mention of Grisha holding baby Eren?

Why did Eren Jaeger give up at the end fighting? Is that even his character at all?

Why didn't Eren being Mikasa along into the paths with Armin as they visited the ocean together back in chapter 90 (season 3 part 2)?

Eren firmly stated he won't stop the rumbling and gamble paradis future in chapter 133. Was he lying?

Eren said between chapter 123-130 that he will eliminate every single life in Marley from the world.

45 pages we got for the final chapter of Attack on titan manga.

I'm not buying any of this.

Hi there @kian1974eve!! I apologize if this is late cause I just got off from a ton of uni stuff.

Hmmmm, these are leaks from a previously reliable source but I won’t exactly accept this until the real chapter drops and I agree with your thoughts so much it hurts now. Only hoping that just because these are leaks, major points were let out. But if THESE ARE the major points, then i’ll be disappointed

I mean a satisfying ending does not have to be a happy ending where your fave characters live, it is something that connects everything in the end and there is closure for character arcs. 

BTW, before I was trying so hard to accept the leaks cause you know... it was implied Armin will save the day, that makes sense but then that’s it. 

I think the major point I see here that got me confused is:

Eren discusses saving humanity with Ymir who gets angry with him. And it looks like it’s implying that Eren wants to save it now and Ymir does not. Wasn’t she like smiling a chapter ago at Mikasa and Eren which is supposed to be her seeing genuine love from humanity or something.

Is Ymir going to be like a reverse Cersei? or Daenerys all along? Like someone who was born a victim then does not deserve sympathy in the end. 

Armin and Eren fist fight. Armin refuses to kill Eren. Armin hits Eren. God hahahahah I don’t knoww hahaha I hope that’s just a grammar thing or a mistranslation. Then what happens to Eren now, if Armin like..refuses to “kill”him?

Adding to that and your thoughts (I am hoping that the following still gets discussed in the chapter considering the leaks only show a few points):

No mention of why Grisha still gave the attack titan to Eren, or was he forced to do so again?

Why drag out Hisu’s pregnancy, and strategically place them at the last chapters for each volume only for her and her baby to appear for a birthday celebration? Why did Hisu agree to the rumbling? Where the EH convo so we can have closure now??

What was the scenery? just Eren flying around?

Is the titan curse broken cause Ymir just collapses? Does this mean Hallucigenia-looking creature was defeated in the real world or someth?

I am hoping there is more to it honestly cause I have faith that despite a lot of awesome theories out there not being true, we could still get a satisfying, logical, sensible, reasonable (insert other synonyms here) ending.

it was really fucking cool and a definite step up from Chapter 133. This chapter does well to inform you that we *are* at the final battle now, and nothing is stopping this story from crashing to a sudden end pretty damn soon.

This chapter, like every other in the volume, feels like it was stretching. I was actively bored reading it. With so few chapters left, does Isayama really have time to stretch this much? He has so many loose ends to tie up and it's concerning. He obviously wanted a volume cliffhanger with the alliance facing Eren so I hope that his pacing next volume is much tighter because this ain't it, chief

This has easily become one of my favourite chapters in the while manga. [...] Overall, it's as good as 112, 122, 131 and other popular "masterpieces" in my opinion

Bruh I have been waiting for this so long and Isayama fucking DELIVERED. I was so worried with all the build-up and sometimes sloppy pacing that the final Eren vs Alliance showdown wouldn't live up to the hype but NOPE, it was amazing and beyond expectations. The moment where the refugees realize that Paradis forces had come to save them?? Gold. Beautiful. 10/10. Isayama I am sorry for ever doubting you, you are a god and I am thankful for your existence.

It was a very close race, but “the crowd attempting to save the baby” ultimately came out on top and once again demonstrated the fanbase’s affinity for despair… or was it hope this time? In a close second comes Armin’s cliffhanger question to Eren, third place going to Reiner stomping the Beast Titan, which beat the rumbling scenery across the world by a single vote, which beat seeing the final audio by a single vote. If the extremely close results mean anything, this chapter certainly had something for everyone.

The crowd lifting the baby to safety is an image that will leave a permanent mark on me. I don’t have words to describe that scene.

Honestly, each goddamn panel is impacting, exciting or badass. I love the Historia scene, the chaos and destruction left me speechless, Karina and Mr. Leonhart's reflexion was heartbreaking, as well as the Marleyan general's.

Reiner Helos was the most hype part of the chapter.

I could never really decide what’s my favorite scene or anything, it’s all just amazing.

as an eren stan it was rly brutal and eye opening to actually see all the innocent people and kids dying, overall it was a great chapter, just very gruesome

Reiners armored body slam and Levi’s monkey comment were best moments. Really appreciated seeing the worlds POV one more time.

I loved Reiner's moment but otherwise boring chapter.

I loved armin in this chapter he finally looks like hes acting as a commander.hopefully we will get more of this.

I love how much of other countries we get to see through rumbling, it helps to show more details for the wolrd building.

I liked Levi calling Zeke a “Big, furry bastard”.

We finally see Eren's new titan for doing something other than moving forward, and the beast titan scene was epic.

i cried when i saw the families saying goodbye. seeing eren as the founding titan hurts too.

The tower guard's words were too much but I LOVED the moment with the baby on the cliff. I wasn't expecting something like that.

Each chapter I become increasingly pessimistic about Historia as a character. In the beginning of this chapter when we got the close-up of her eyes as she closed them in pain, I was certain the next page would have her inner monologue as she thought back on how she got into this position. But instead it cuts away, us seeing absolutely nothing from Historia, and I'm back to thinking she really has no agency anymore. Even if she is super important in the ending and a pivotal player in determining the state of the world after the rumbling, it won't be worth what she's been reduced to. To be fair, she was in one scene in Return to Shiganshina, no scenes in Marley arc, and this arc... well, we know how she's been treated. So maybe I should have seen this coming, but it was still disappointing for Isayama to hint that she will have a role this arc like in Uprising arc, only for that to be a breeding machine.

Why Historia was crying when she was having a child?

She finally is realizing the regret of the pregnancy decision and that she once again chose something she didn't necessarily want to do.

her life was always miserable and I don't believe that she will get some ray of light. She was the happiest when she had Ymir by her side. Now, even if she survives and has her child with her, she will always feel the heavy weight of her decision and the blood of millions innocent people will always stay on her hands.

I'm dropping the series after this. It just hurts seeing a queer-coded character like Historia constantly being beaten and reduced to literally nothing. First it was Ymir's death. Then Zeke's plan that involved her having children to be eaten by them (WHY NOT HAVE ZEKE IMPREGNATE WOMEN? WHY MUST IT BE THE QUEER FEMALE CHARACTER?? WHO'S ALSO THE QUEEN?). Then all the talk about her as a mere breeder, as a not-so-walking womb. Then the awful, awful ship-tease with Eren. Then her not opposing Eren's plan?? This is just it.  I was holding onto the fake pregnancy, but now I envy the people who dropped the series once they saw the first panel of her pregnant.

Historia gets what she deserves. She agreed to help Eren and now A LOT of innocent mothers and children is losing their lives in the rumbling. Historia has their blood on her hands and she won't be free from it. I don't feel sorry for her, at all.

If there's any character, besides Eren, who has humanity's blood on their hands, it's Historia, and her labor acting as a prelude to the moment that will decide the fate of humanity is incredibly poetic.

I’m a little confused about the timeline and placement of the cliffs and where the Titans are. Can someone explain how the Titans were seen pushing people off the cliff sides (also how were so many people herded into the middle of nowhere to be shoved off the cliffs?) and then also seen heading toward the fleeing Eldian/Marleyans? Are those two different places, a montage, etc? Do we suspend some disbelief to take in the apocalyptic scene of people falling from the cliffs into the sea? The opening scenes had me a bit turned around.

These shots where absolute nightmare fuel and they did an amazing job at showing how horrifying this situation is

I didn't think the cliff scene was that dark tbh, it was actually faintly uplifting. Though I also felt that way after reading chapter 131, so maybe I think that about any tragedy Isayama depicts.

It's a dark moment but I also think it's sort of hopeful, that humanity isn't completely fucked and they're all eager to try save this child rather than let it fall and die.

The entire imagery of masses of people barely hanging for their lives at the edge of a cliff is so abyssmal and daunting. This is seriously peak bleakness SnK. I still can't believe that there are people that support Eren after this.

he opening panels of the Rumbling were some of the most horrifying so far, especially the one with the baby.

In the face of annihilation, the general stationed at Fort Salta has an epiphany on the path that brought everyone there. A solid 60% of respondents thought it was a great speech – it covers perhaps the grandest theme of the final arc of the story and someone needed to hammer home the message. 27.3% liked the message of the speech but thought it was a little too ham-fisted for the moment, but 6.8% just thought it was silly.

The general at Fort Salta’s words were really... desperate. It showed the truth of Eren’s rampage as the founding and I think it showed that Eren was more than what he hoped to become. He shows no pity now: I don’t even think he cares about the 104th and co. anymore. Really dark and I’m living for it.

The parts with no speech was great. Isayama is great with visuals which I love. The Marleyan speech was very cringe unfortunately.

I think it was honestly fine, but one tiny change could have been made to make it flow more naturally and not be so jarring to so many people: Rather than having the general talk about "us adults", and how "we" used hatred, I think it would have been more natural if he only talked about himself. This is a very common trope in war movies, and we're all capable of reading in between the lines and understanding how what he says applies to the different characters and the world as a whole. For him to point it out for us is a little jarring

It was a desperate man's final words, and it showed.

It was a fitting speech that showed the Marleyans were finally ready to let go of their hatred towards the Eldians. It also felt like last-ditch speech to try to move Eren into reconsidering flattering the whole world with the Rumbling, but knowing Eren, the speech wouldn't sway him at all.

It was way to convenient and unrealistic for the general and the liberio Eldians to realize that they were wrong and I hope they die. That is all.

It was good to see they realized how terrible they were but as a wise man once said... “It’s too laaate to apologiiize. It’s too laaaaaaaate! Ay. Ay. Ay.”

Its good because its shows the message of the series of trying to stop the cycle of hate by either changing our actions or by sacrificing others for the "greater good". Placement is not bad tho, the general is realizing it is the true end

I understand it, but I’m also bothered by the suggested idea that it took total annihilation to make people decide to finally “be considerate” of each other. It also feels very black and white to me, some of the subtleties of this whole situation was lost I think.

It was a great speech and super satisfying moment to see non-Eldians recognize how they played a part leading up to this, but there's no guarantee there won't be residual hatred for Eldians once all of this is over.

Reiner was a tool to make Karina feel like she had worth in a world where everyone, from the man she may have loved to her nation to the rest of the world was telling her she was worthless.

Karina hated Paradis' Eldians for "abandoning" her and the others to the mainland and wanted revenge on them for that.

Clearly revenge on his father and if anyone thinks Karina intended on Reiner being used to get revenge on Paradis is really reaching to villify Karina.

I believe it's "both of the above", but with the revenge on Paradis being from Karina, not Marley, as an allegory for Reiner's father. She always talks about how Paradis abandoned the Eldians on Marley, and I figured this was her way of expressing the sorrow and anger at Reiner's father for abandoning her and Reiner. So she did believe Paradis were devils who abandoned them, but that was fuelled by her personal issue

That was unexpected! The Beast Titan showed up, but not in a way we saw anyone predict. A very close tie between it being Zeke’s beast being controlled/manipulated and it being a War Hammer formation created by Eren, with the former just edging out the latter. 14% believe Eren can make titans however he wants via the Founding Titan/paths, and 2.4% think this was just straight up Zeke.

seems like they hold Zeke more accountable to the rumbling than Eren himself. Yeah I get it, he's their friend. But fuck that, humanity is at stakes, and when Zeke turned against the warriors, they accepted that they had to kill him, even if they didn't wan't to (especially Pieck), even if he was their comrade and leader, even if they grew up together, because it needed to done.

as a WWI nerd I really disappointed by the airship "battle." Isayama has done his research on some aspects of early modern day tech (like the detail on the firearms), but then has the airships dropping what looks like submarine depth charges instead of zeppelin bombs (I was like--why are they dropping oil canisters?!) and then has the airships go down in Hollywood-style explosions from having rocks thrown on them.

Reiner's transformation is probably my favourite one, and seeing the rest of the alliance jumping down in a tense but at the same time epic scene was priceless.

Chekhov’s bombs are now in the hands, er, mouth, of Pieck Finger, via grabbing them from the plane and transforming into a titan while holding them. About half of fans had no issue with this, seeing that titan transformations are just summoning flesh around you. 17.5% did think the transformation explosion should have detonated them, and 30% are just wondering how she also managed to perfectly unravel the bombs midair.

Cart titan has experienced in carrying things in different situations and the explosives shown could be improvised. Also, these types are initiated with fire and will not explode with any impact occurred.

I assumed that she let go of the bombs, transformed, then caught them. This does not bother me in the slightest.

I think it's kinda like Eren with the spoon, the objective was holding it, which is why it wan't damaged when Hanji noticed it. Same thing with Pieck and the explosives.

Helos was a hollow and fake historical figure made up to push the "Eldians are evil" narrative. Reiner, on the other hand, is someone who was raised with a hatred for Eldians and committed atrocities because of it, but came to face his past actions and save the world as a true hero. Reiner isn't Helos, he's so much better than that.

The question of how far Eren would go to achieve his goal of freedom has plagued the community for a while, and this chapter seemingly confirmed his willingness to even kill his friends, as seen by the deadly projectiles that the alliance only narrowly avoided. 61.8% of respondents aren’t surprised by this, despite Armin and Mikasa, who were in the line of fire, being voted as very unlikely for Eren to willingly kill last month. Armin is trying to manipulate Eren like what he did with Berthold but I think he will 100% fail .

Armin is really being built up here for an amazing redemption. These last three chapters we've seen him carefully being inserted into the pivotal role in the series just like in RtS.  I'm 90% confident the biggest plot twist of the entire series is coming, and Armin is the catalyst as he's always been for every amazing moment in the show prior to chapter 91. I think the ending is going to blow everyone out of the water, and that everyone predicting a side to win is missing entirely how the manga will end.

i think isayama states that the alliance is at fault too because they decided to still fight on eren's side until it was already too late and he activated the rumbling. not because they are killing people directly.

while I think that Eren is the main culprit of the Rumbling, true peace cannot be reached if everyone acts all high and mighty ""well, it wasn't MY fault"". After all this, the whole world has to be humble and willing to work together, otherwise it has all been for nothing.

I find it weird everyone (SC, warriors, the world) is blaming themselves for everything and readers are using their pre-death laments as a confirmation that Eren is right/justified. I don't like Eren being portrayed just like the product of his context, especially because he himself deny it and many chapters exist to reforce that (100, 121, 123, 130, 131, etc). I feel nobody is treating Eren as an individual, but as a force of nature coming to punish humanity for their sins. It's uncomfortable, because he's just a person like everybody else and not a god even if he has some god-like powers.

I don’t think the narrative is on eren side, but it also doesn’t absolve the rest of the world, the narrative shows that both sides have good and bad people, innocent and guilty, how each decision affect each character, and what they feel about it all. This story is about a cycle of hate, eldia used titan power to attack the world, then the world revolted and decided to attack eldia, now eldia (eren) attacks the world again, cycles have no end unless someone interrupts it, the question is; What is the most effective way to end this cycle?

Eren already lost. He wanted protect people on Paradis, his friends and Historia but it looks like his actions only have created more sadness and misery. A lot of people on the island died when the walls collapsed and now they most likely will have a civil war. Two of his closest friends are already dead and the rest feels depressed and miserable. The things for Historia don't look good either. Even if he fully rumbles the world, he will never really save anyone.

I haven’t seen anyone talk about it yet but in one of the manga panel you can see levi holding his sword in his way as if he had all his fingers back. So I think he does.

Save for chapters 130-131, the manga has been noticeably become underwhelming since 124. Like I implied above, there are many hints that this manga is going to have a GOT season 8 tier ending. Eren will be defeated and all the hate in the world will magically disappear. There will be some sort of unity between Marley and Cringevengers that brings peace to the world even though it shouldn't realistically be possible. And lastly, that baby near the cliff will end up living at the last moment and will end up being the baby from the final panel. "You are free", most likely being held by Armin or Reiner.

This is the first chapter that has really felt like the end REALLY is here.  The gang is engaged in battle with Eren, there is no turning back from this point.  They will either succeed, or perish in the attempt.

This story used to have the character growth and the plot at the center of the focus. I'm sad that it is all blown away in favor of cheap spectacle.

This is all a series of bad plot choices falling like domino. Are things gonna work out once we get to final revelations? Probably. Is it gonna feel earned? At this point I doubt it. I miss the passion in this story. Char. develp. has never been the finest but they've always been human. Historia's a uterus. Eren just cares about his freedom. Dialogue falls flat as if Isayama didn't believe in what he writes and he's trying so hard to force feed the reader. If the rumbling is the final stop why was half of this necessary when it gave no closure to any character? But if it isn't, we deserved a real build up of events.

Zeke finally back but we still didn't know if he being controlled or willingly

Zeke is not being controlled and instead helping his brother, Eren is going to win and killed some of his friends, Levi is going to survive, Historia is going to survive with her baby and showed up at the final chapter. That's all I'm sure at this point. Mark my words.

Ever since 133, it's two chapters which have amazing elements but ultimately falls off as dissapointing. The plot needs to move forward. I thought we were going to have Bertholttalk and Ackertalk. 132 was such a masterpiece of a chapter that it becomes a let down.

Everyone told Eren early on that he'd have to abandon his humanity to make a difference, to save Paradis- especially Armin. Regardless of whose on which side, its ironic that now Armin is the one who can't accept this.

I’m baffled by the amount of asks I’ve received pertaining Historia’s pregnancy just because of that one post! 😅 I’ll try to answer everything in this one.

Unfortunately, answering the question to why Historia decided to bear a child isn’t as simple as it may seem. Despite chapter 130, there’s still no clear reasoning to why she got pregnant. That’s the short answer. If you want the long one, carry on reading.

The initial plan (Zeke’s) was that she’d bear as many children as possible within the span of thirteen years so she’d have manifold heirs and, in turn, titan shifters that would protect the island for fifty years.

However, the situation changed with the wine and once Eren finally devised the plan he wanted to carry out to save the island. Eren told her about the genocide he intended to commit, and she disagreed with it. But he swayed her when he told her she saved him, and that’s why he needed to end the cycle of hatred by destroying the outside world. All we got from Historia out of his passionate speech was “how about I bear a child?”

But the reason is still not explicitly stated. Why did she decide to bear the child? To buy both of them enough time for a year while Eren gathered the resources to go to Marley? It’s not clear. Just look at this dialogue:

Eren: “If you can’t live with it (guilt), I can manipulate your memories using the Founding Titan. But if you stay still, you can do it. You... you saved me... I was saved by the worst girl in the world.”

Historia: “Then, Eren... how about I bear a child?”

It seems incomplete to me. Why was Historia’s course of action to do the one thing Eren didn’t want her to do, which was get pregnant? Because in this case, the objective wasn’t to pop out babies for thirteen years, then wither away and die by hearing her bones being chewed to pieces. But there must be something else, a deeper motive, something I’m sure she told Eren to add context to her decision, but as the readers we don’t know simply because it’s not time for us to know yet.

We know that one of the reasons she got pregnant is because of Eren. It’s that simple. Eren decided to confide in her, and even though she didn’t agree with his plan, she went on with it and decided to support him, and out of this support the idea of pregnancy came to fruition.

We know one reason of why she got pregnant. The problem is that there has to be more, it can’t be something as superficial as “I’ll bear a child because of Eren’s plan.”

We have enough information to say one of the reasons she got pregnant is because of Eren, but we have no information to say one of the reasons is political and because of her people. If this were the case, if duty and her people were strictly the reason, I think she would’ve been more firm on carrying out Zeke’s plan instead of being swayed by Eren’s insistence of protecting her and finding an alternative despite their utter lack of time. Even though she has a strong sense of duty and her people are one of her priorities, they’re not at the very top of her list. Very close, but not at the top. Whether we like it or not, it’s clear that Eren is, simply because they share such a strong bond. She’s never Queen Historia around him, she never exerts any authority even when told he’ll commit genocide of not one or two races, but the entire world. She’s Historia, his friend, his confidant, “the worst girl in the world” who saved him. That day in the chapel was definitive in creating a beautiful relationship based in deep trust that Eren can’t find even in his childhood friends.

Eren may not have agreed with the initial plan, but it was because, like I said, it entailed the bloodshed of his dear friend and her children. This time it’s different, because it was meant to buy time, but also because there’s another reason we don’t know.

It is also very possible that this baby will be definitive for her character arc. It’s common to argue this pregnancy completely ruined her character, but even though she’s clearly not happy with this decision, it’s very likely there’s more to it than we think. We simply don’t know it because it’s not the time yet.

A common theory is the reincarnation of Ymir Fritz, hence the “you are free” last panel. I say that another possible theory is that this is simply a child born from a selfish decision by two people (Historia and Eren), but because of that decision that same child will be free and lead a peaceful existence. More importantly, despite the miserable context, it’ll be a loved child because Historia knows what it’s like to feel unwanted, and Eren is a person who loves fiercely and protectively.

That child will symbolise the birth of freedom and peace for a race that has been subjugated to cruelty for hundreds of years. The very first child born from freedom—the very pinnacle of a race that stands atop a pile of corpses. That’s my take.

If Historia and Ymir Fritz are clear parallels, they're also opposites, worst girl vs good girl, selfishness vs altruism. Historia broke the curse and became independent, which Ymir has failed in her life. King Fritz is also the antithesis of Eren, both are devils, freedom vs slavery, the first sacrificed a girl to conquer the world, the second refused to sacrificed a girl to save his country. Both sought out Ymir for her powers, however, while the King bound her to them, Eren freed her.

i LOVE this analysis and i have nothing better to add!!! except that historia was practically raised by frieda to be selfless like krista aka ymir fritz, to basically slave away and run the extra mile for the sake of others that wouldn't do the same for her EXACTLY like ymir fritz has been doing all her life. and now hisu is refuting that narrative altogether, she's cutting ties with those bad roots and unlearning a lot of ingrained behaviour from her childhood and early adolescence. like yeah, she's still helping the children of the underground by giving them food and shelter and education because she's still fundamentally a good person but sacrificing herself and her reproductive rights for the sake of people that she never met? lmao no thanks, she's not gonna fall for it again. i LOVE this development for her and im not ashamed to say that eren was instrumental in its achievement
