THIS GIRL NEEDS SOME ADVICE! 🤔💭 😏 A little known fact about me is that I'm a historian and published writer. 👩‍💻 Over the past 20 years I have compiled stories of my ancestors, most of whom led very interesting lives. I have told and retold their stories in many forms. The most recent version of my retelling has been to put them on a blog site for others to enjoy. The response to the retelling of the lives of my family has been surprising and inspiring. People from all over have been fascinated by the lives they led. Without knowing what I do for a living, some viewers suggested a couple be turned into films. Between their reaction to the stories and their compliments and approval of my writing style, that audience inspired me with their awesome idea. These stories really should be brought back to life. Tracing an enslaved ancestor is like tracking a unicorn but that doesn't deter me from searching. On rare occasions records surface. These are my daugher's ancestors who were sold at the Danvile, VA courthouse in 1857. Her grandfather Brice was sold by Joseph Stovall for $1200. His last owner before emancipation was William Mills. After emancipation he and his wife were recorded as finally living together on the VA Cohabitation papers.
