This is one of the few of my original songs I've written. I don't consider myself a poet yet but I do write a lot of songs/lyrics and I'd love to someday. I have had these lying around for awhile. So, I thought I should compile them together and put it out. Here's my maiden venture at publishing a book. It is available on Amazon kindle. CHECK LINK IN BIO. It is called, "Voices drown as the ice caps melt". The title is an attempt at highlighting the environmental issue and a metaphor for our social environment as well. "Living on a prayer" is a song straight up about the reality of not caring about the environment. Not all of these are based on environmental or socio- political issues but mainly focusing on self-awareness and realization. They aim at working as motivation for introspection. Hope you like it. "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" has a simple bass line but what's interesting is that it is syncopated in some places and to constantly play with the same velocity can be tricky. As a musician, you learn after years of struggle that it isn't really about how fast you can hit the notes, it's about how well you can connect with the crowd and the choice of notes you deliver. U2 has a unique sound and their style of compositions have always been a big reason why they're one of my top ten favourite bands. Haven't posted in a while and very often because I've been busy with a lot of work with the bands I'm associated with, managing a few new venues and travelling a bit. Also, to be completely honest, earlier this month I lost my beloved Liebchen. I've been distraught. The sad part isn't that she gave up finally after months of suffering, it is the perseverance and resilience she showed right till the end. Nothing but inspiring. 11years of nothing but unconditional love and affection. No matter what state of mind you're in, your pets accept you for who you are. If we humans were to learn from them, we'd be a much better, happier society. Although, I hate to say that none of the perseverance and resilience was reciprocated back to her. It is shocking how soon we become desensitised after a taking some emotional pain and hurt. Today we live in a society where we just keep moving to the next new thing, trends , issues, hobbies etc. We glamourise small problems and ignore the big ones and move on without addressing them. We've forgotten how to persevere. We've stopped being resilient. We're so used to brushing things under the rug that we forget that once the rug comes off all those problems come back together. Then what do you do? Quit. That's a rational solution at times and at certain times an easier one but many times quitting isn't the only solution. At such times we need to be resilent enough to see the problem head on and deal with it right there and then. Don't give up until you've tried everything and every way possible and I am sure you'll see a positive change. Good luck! . .
