Social Media and My Audience
So I am just starting out with my own brand on Instagram. I decided to start my blogging experience via Instagram to try and gather followers. Once I hit my target goal with a good number of followers I will reflect the ‘gram on my own blog.
For now I have just over 300 followers. I started my brand, TravelBeautyFully in March of last year and realised with consistency comes followers. I have been rather quiet on the site for roughly 6 months, sporadically updating with a post here and there but not as consistent it should be.
I have a mix of followers, both men and women but more so women - probably around 80% women to 20% men. Many of the followers have similar Instagram but with a bigger following and more daily updated content.
Most responsive traffic occurs around 10am and then at 6pm to 9pm. More so on weekends as I find more people update their own Instagram to check out fellow Instagrammers and I get the most responses with travel posts.

This material is striped in the depth of the material.
To create a more defined stripe affect I would include handpainting stripes of varying colours and widths.

This is a shopper bag made out of light card stock.
In production I would want to make the shopper/tote out of lightweight, waterproof, material such as PVC; the print of the tote would be the brand’s identity.
Production Costs:
PVC £12.99
Thread £2
0.5 @ £9 £4.50
Total Production cost - £19.49
20% profit 3.898
Total Production cost + Profit - £23.388
Estimated Retail Price £25

Research Trip
Tumblr media
I normally don’t try before I buy but having recently carried out the task of comparing the same size clothing in a number of retailers, it is actually rather shocking to find that a size 10 in one store is not the same size 10 in another! I realise the design, pattern, cut, material and stitching affects each and every item of clothing but at least as a customer we can be more aware of the fact that we might not have ‘body issues’ as much as we thought we did. It is in fact the retailer causing the distorted body image! One thing I noticed when trying on the same style jean but in a variety of sizes was that the difference in size wasn't as great as I expected it to be. Size 8, 10 and 12 don't differ too much, mainly length and a slight difference in waist. What retailers are failing to remember is that a curvy size 8 differs to a slim size 8. So just because you are curvy, doesn't make you a bigger size but just that your shape is different to another’s. It would be great to see this represented in the stores.

Production Costs
Many variables are involved when taking into account production costs of any product. Researching about what materials are most cost effective took me time and much to consider. Bulk buying, I found, was most cost effective as the materials needed for my design piece could allow for mass production. This ultimately made me consider whether the products I would create were to be mass produced or more of a bespoke nature. Constructing the choker was fairly simple but the clasp proved most time consuming as it is key to the design element. At the end of the task, I still felt the production costs were too high to price the finished choker at £15. I don’t think the consumer would pay this much so I would have to rework the production as well as look into other materials and fabrics.

When you enter a Michael Kors store you are immediately drawn to the back wall where the advertising video plays on loop. Michael Kors is all about the jet set lifestyle and you gather this as soon as you watch the advert and then see the product that featured. Gorgeous models boarding a plane, walking the streets of a new destination all with their trusty Michael Kors bag and chic trainers. It is very enticing and accessible making the customer want to be the girl in the advert. Luxury is the word that comes to mind when you look at the product in the store. Gold, silver, rose gold are key in the details of most of the accessories and shoes. The shoes are displayed separately to the bags and most are organised in colour gradation and styles. The bags are organised from the commercial pieces at the back of the store and the most recent, newer styles in the front of store and in the windows. Enticing customers to see what is new but also providing the styles which people know Michael Kors for. This is the Michael Kors store in Mumbai.
