anxiety is writing the first two chapters to a fic, getting two different people to check on it, getting their okay, and still being so freaked out about publishing that you don't do it for a month.
that is to say, i'm publishing my fic today!
check out the link later!

it's probably a result of child-centric media, but trollhunters is interesting to me when you view the trollhunters parents as well-meaning, but perennially absent. they have boundless love, but it's never meaningful because they're never there to give it on time.
yeah they come back, but it's late in the game and the children have already suffered.

bro, I went to Los Angeles over the summer and I saw an Arcadia Lane, and there was a canal that looked exactly like the one in trollhunters.
I think i just saw trollmarket.

We know that Merlin doesn’t appreciate/understand/like Douxie’s music, but you know who I bet would?
Varvaatos Vex.
He likes music, he loves Krel’s music, he, in his own words “feels the beat.”
Krel introduces Douxie as “This is my friend Douxie, he’s a wizard and also a musician.” Douxie plays. Vex likes this “rock.” It is violently pleasing to the ear and makes Varvaatos feel as though he could rip his foes to pieces even in his wrinkly geezer form! It is, as the hoomans say, Quite The Banger
Vex attends every ADP concert religiously as if they were talent shows, despite ADP being a relatively-popular band with a good following already. The rest of ADP loves seeing “Douxie’s grandpa :D” (he’s not correcting them) at all of the concerts. Vex yells the loudest of all the fans.
It’s pretty standard to hear an enthusiastic “GLORIOUS” after every song.

tell me this isn't the face of a man arguing with his teenage son.
(excuse the shitty image quality)
my headcanon that i have inserted into canon is that varvatos saw a lot of himself in aja, but he was way more attached to krel because he saw his own child in him.

3below is honestly the best show to use the 'aliens as POC' metaphor in a way that was both funny AND addressed the struggles of POC in white-majority countries.

no series has ever managed to fill me with a sense of pity and tragedy more than the series finale of Trollhunters.

is there like a discord server or anything where tales of arcadia fanfic writers can like ask for advice or bounce ideas? or simply someone who has experience in beta-ing?
-a new writer who has no idea what they are doing

Tales of Arcadia Trailers: whiny voices, fart jokes, bright colors, “This is totally a show for children, nothing deep or dark here!!!”
The Actual Show: tortured screaming, desperate sobbing, severed limbs, forced mutation, existential dread, beloved characters dying, “We will rip your heart out and stomp on it and we won’t even feel bad for it.”

i love how much needless sacrifice is such a constant theme within tales of arcadia.

my personal headcanon for douxie remaining mentally and physically as a teenager for nine centuries is that it stems from his loss and grief over losing Merlin during the Battle of Killahead, and basically traps himself as his teenage self due to him feeling unprepared for facing the world on his own.

Jim: Do you think lava would taste spicy?
Claire: Jim, please, don't eat lava.
Blinky: Eat it and let us know.
Toby: It's made out of molten rock, it probably tastes bland and dusty.
Jim: Thank you Tobes, you understand me.

I don’t know how to explain it perfectly now, but Strickler having an umbrella while Jim doesn’t in the scene where Jim’s supposed to turn himself over really shows a visual power dynamic. We’re not meant to feel good about this meeting or Jim’s decision or his chances here.
