Righto, so far I’m probably going to have this one and Jeff the accountant as prints at the toy fair and OZCC Adelaide. I may make some of the chibis into stickers… less than a week til the toy fair!

So I took the tentacles out and swapped it for the most heartbreaking bit of perfect day and I think it works better. Oh and I also took the blue filter off the ‘underwater’ bit which I think works well because you can see Ed better.

SPN AND OFMD SPOILERS

The thing is, the logical part of my brain KNOWS that if you want representation and happy queer stories - you don’t go to the CW or any of the older major networks that have made a ton of money perpetuating toxic masculinity and creating hetero mainstream content (and don’t come at me with the cw being bankrupt, all those big companies have creative accounting that makes it seem like they’re bankrupt when they’re not).

Something that occurred to me watching Our Flag Means death though is that these past queerbaity shows and their production companies were always protesting that they couldn’t/wouldn’t make their mains queer because “that’s not what it’s about” but like SPN in particular was on for 15 YEARS - the idea that these characters have had life changing shit happening to them every year and not develop past the characters they started as is weird, right? But to watch that last episode - they’re exactly the same as they were in season one??

Intentionally put your same sex characters in romantic trope situations but not follow through?

*FART AND BOOING NOISES*

Have token queer characters but make them either evil or kill them brutally and leave them in a bathtub?

*FARTING AND BOOING INTENSIFIES*

It was never that they couldn’t. It was ALWAYS homophobia.

OFMD has been healing.

Who knew that Queer characters, Men with feelings, minorities and people outside their teens and 20s existing and experiencing everyday love and relationships within a single show would be such a revelation? LITERALLY EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN ASKING FOR REAL REPRESENTATION FOR DECADES.

Protect David Jenkins, Taika and Rhys and every single person involved with OFMD at all costs.
