Addressing Toxic Shipping
FYI: This is not a blog to hate on stans for shipping, this is to bring eyes to toxic shippers. Shipping two people is perfectly fine but you have to know boundaries and that is what is represented in this blog.
This is fully based on one of my personal opinion.
If you’ve ever been in a fandom shipping is a very common thing. Not in just kpop fandoms but fandoms everywhere. Whether they’re shipping a friendship or a relationship, it’s very common to see these posts. In this post, I will use BTS members as my example. Please don’t get offended by the people I use, it’s just for example.
The most common type of shipping is between two members of a group. I think the friendship type of shipping is adorable and I think the relationship ones are cute. This, however, does not mean I support those who ship two people so hard they think they’re actually dating, this is where we move into toxic shipping category.
Now before my words get twisted, thinking two people are dating is not toxic. Thinking that these two people can only date each other and if they date anyone else they’re lying to cover their relationship with the other member, is toxic.
Also, this doesn’t really have a lot to do with this. but it seems like bts can’t do normal things friends do without someone thinking they’re dating??? Like Jimin could look at Taehyung and someone in the comments thinks it’s sexual tension, I don’t understand that part but anyways.
We’ve seen this happen before if you were a fifth harmony stan you can probably remember. Camila and Lauren were just friends but people constantly forced a ship onto them and it ruined their friendship. After the group disbanded  Lauren said it made them uncomfortable. As of today they still can’t have relationships without someone commenting about Camren. That’s what happens when shipping is taken too far. You can ruin the bond that built the ship in the first place.
A reminder that this is my personal opinion so take this with a grain of salt.
Don’t assume people are straight, gay, bi, etc. Just let people live and be free.
All this is saying is, know your boundaries.
