Friends wanting to do a small gathering at my Airbnb
So I'm staying at an Airbnb for a bit of a vacation. Anyhow, tonight we're gonna be having a small gathering of four of us in total, and the host has a strict no party policy.
We're not gonna cause any problems, but I wanna be respectful and I know my friends are respectful people. Anyhow, would you say a small, quiet gathering of four would constitute a party?

Last guest had Covid!
I’m sitting in a plane on my way to Portland, Oregon. My host messages me that the guest that checked out today tested positive for Covid and was symptomatic.
We can’t stay there now. The host won’t clean. They said they were contacting Airbnb but hadn’t heard anything yet.
I’m about to land in an hour and cannot call until then. I don’t know what I’m going to do. Suggestions welcome 🙏

Budget/style for furniture?
I bought an apartment as an investment and want to put it on Airbnb. Very new to this and just trying to figure out a sweet spot between quality and price for a 2 bedroom condo in the Tulum area.
How do you approach furnishing an apartment? What style seems to work best? Should I try to make it stand out or look minimalistic? Is there anything extra I should think about (a crib available if the guests have young children, etc)
Just a few pointers would be appreciated.

DODI - Manage your bookings remotely
Hello, folks!
I know there are many hosts around and I know some of the problems you are facing from first hand. One of them which I struggle with was property access and key management for bookings. To deal with it, I developed a platform working with a variety of smart locks. I’m sure such solution can help many of you. The apps are going to go live soon this year and it will be interesting to me to know how you handle this platform and whether such platform will be helpful and useful for you. You can check it here: https://www.dodi.li
I will appreciate your feedback.

Prices. (Staying a little more than a month)
Hi AirBnB community,
I’m currently looking for AirBnBs to stay at and the stay will be about a 40days, so a little more than a month worth.
I am seeing month pricings, but when I go to reserve it’s completely different and high compared to what it says.
I understand the cleaning and service fee, but according to what it says, it still is way over what it says.
For example, I see a place that says $961/month but then going into reserving says $1571. Picture here
Can someone explain please? Thank you.

how to extend a stay with a custom price?
If a host and guest have negotiated an extension with a custom price, how would they extend it in the AirBNB website or app? As a guest requesting an extension there is no option related to price. Does the host have such an option? Or would we need to pair the extension and a refund in separate steps (which I suppose would inflate the AirBNB fee)?

Fraud
Is there anyway to contact Airbnb fraud service without having an Airbnb account? There was a charge on my credit card and I’ve never used Airbnb. When I called my back they said the card credentials were already on file for Airbnb. Crazy! The back is going to take care of the investigation and my card has already been canceled but Im just so curious how this happened. Thank you for reading!

Guests who stay in shared homes or shared rooms, how do you do it?
Do you feel like you need to be on your best behavior?
I know everyone's different. I get this icky feeling about sharing a home or a room on Airbnb. I don't even like sharing a restaurant table when traveling through Hong Kong. The first time I ate at a restaurant in Hong Kong I had a small booth to myself and then some random guy sat down and had his lunch. A few minutes later, a second random person sat next to me.

Host changed dates for wedding reservation
My fiancé and I reserved a location for a Saturday and Sunday for our wedding which is in 5 months. The day after we made the booking, we asked if we needed to book another day prior in order to prep for the ceremony on Saturday. He said yes we can book for the evening before. We got the invoice and paid.
We made this reservation about 4-5 months ago. In this time we have booked vendors and family/friends have booked flights.
Yesterday our host told us that he made a mistake and the night before was actually booked to someone else. We would be allowed to enter the location on Saturday at around 2PM.
This has destroyed everything... we can’t change our vendors, plus everyone’s set in stone plans. We have paid for thousands and thousands for product/Vendors all according to this
Is there anything that we can do here? Almost every venue that can handle what we need is booked for our wedding day.
I have in communication with the host on the app confirming all of the dates, confirmation, and their mistake. Does the host have to accommodate us? What can be done to make this right? We have too many things in place to just unwind our wedding… please help!!

Where do you find hosts who are like a friend and show the city?
Hi,
I am wondering how to find hosts who you get along with and show you a city and stuff like that. For instance, I am interested in visiting Lissabon alone for 10 days. It would be awesome to find a host who shows the city and have a beer with,
I am an Airbnb Newby, have mercy :D

Hosts should not require guests to clean towels and linens
Here’s my rant. I’m staying at an AirBnB we’re the host has a guest policy that all used towels, linens and dishes must be cleaned and put away before you leave. This means we are spending our last day of vacation doing chores.
To make matters worse, the previous guests did not appropriately wash everything so some of the towels are sticky, the couch throws are itchy and the bed sheets smell like mens cologne.
The dishes in the cabinet were filthy and had grease residue on them. We basically had to spend personal money buying cleaning products so we could re-clean everything when we arrived. Now we have to do it all over again before we leave.
We realized this happens anytime we stay at an AirBnB with the “clean your own stuff” policy. The ones with cleaning services are much more polished and the linens are always cleaner or new.
If you are a host, I’m begging you to PLEASE just hire professional cleaning services as a hygienic courtesy for guests.

am I getting scammed?
I've never booked an Airbnb until now. I am traveling to a new city for a summer internship and booked a place for when I'm there. After I booked, the host called me and we spoke for a bit. He seemed very nice. Well last night I randomly get an email that my 3-month reservation was cancelled. I'm freaking out bc my internship starts soon and I need somewhere to live. I call the host and he doesn't pick up. I text him and ask why I got cancelled. He texts back and says don't worry, his account was hacked and the reservation is still all good. He asks me to forward him the email I received. I did, and he emailed back asking if I have venmo. He did say no need to send money until the reimbursement from airbnb gets back into my account, so that's something I guess? I don't know. Like I said, I've never booked an Airbnb before and have no clue if this is normal. The host had decent reviews and identity verified. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Guest snuck in a pet.
So a guest brought a pet. Didn’t declare it when making the booking. Airbnb is refusing to recover costs. The settings on this property are set to charge $60 if a pet is brought. Any tips on what I should be saying to airbnb?

Looking to book Friday and leave Sunday the following week, 8 nights, however when I go to book the 8 nights it wants me to pay for the sunday and checkout on sunday by 10am, so I am confused why I have to pay for the sunday as a night if I have to leave by 10am. Never in my life have I had to do this going through hotels etc, just joined Airbnb and im hit with this, not impressed.

Do I need to mention loose bed slats to the host?
I've been staying at my first airbnb for the past 4 nights (with one night left) in the UK. The bed is obviously a cheap day bed (single bed, likely designed for kids) and every night throughout the night multiple slats will just give out even if im laid perfectly still. This is affecting my quality of sleep as I'm scared to move on this bed incase it breaks on me. Tonight I will probably move the mattress onto the floor for the last night just so I dont have to reattach multiple slats.
No damage has actually happened to the bed, the slats go back in perfectly fine so is it acceptable to just knock a star off the review and mention a flimsy bed in it, or is this something to mention to the host privately? Im scared of getting charged even if theres no damage. The rest of the Airbnb is fine and actually has great facilities, but yet I've spent £230 on somewhere where I can't get a good night sleep.

30 day rental costs
Are there any additional costs to a 30-day rental? Or is the price I see at checkout the final price I pay?
