This talk of superheros and powers makes Edgeworth feel slightly light-headed. He knows that it has to be nonsense, and yet he believed that spiritual power was nonsense up until recently, so he's still trying to wrap his head around that. Still, though. The idea that any of it could involve him in a more... personal manner is laughable - or at least, he wants it to be.

"There's no way that I have anything to do with the spirit world."

The last two words are spoken with a hint of disgust, though their delivery makes him sound more unsettled than anything else. Edgeworth would feel bad - well, not by a huge amount - but he has been trying not to talk about his distaste for anything spiritual so as not to make Phoenix uncomfortable. His friend, Maya, is a spirit medium, after all - not to mention the fact that Phoenix had managed to prove to Edgeworth that the Kurain Channeling Technique was real just like he'd predicted - and in the most undeniable fashion, too!

But this feels different. And he feels strangely vulnerable all of a sudden, as he often does around Wright - not knowing what to say or do.

"Isn't it just that everyone experiences that magatama's powers differently? It seems to be the far more likely option. You yourself suggested it just a moment ago."

it was fascinating. utterly fascinating. both to listen to Edgeworth explaining a phenomenon he doesn't necessarily believe in to be real and to hear about the experiences he's had with it. spiritual energy, pearl had mentioned, was something so sacred and powerful that if put into the wrong hands a lot of damage could come about it - they had trusted phoenix with the magatama and everything it did - and in return, he'd use that mystical energy to help. the downfall of this was how little information he could obtain about its use by non medium parties; it's not as if he hadn't asked the cousins what he would expect, in fact, pearl tried explaining the psyche-locks during his first use of it. but not even they could prepare him for what he may feel, see, because he wasn't attuned to spirits as them.

hearing everything edgeworth had to say on the subject not only fed into that natural curiosity, but it made phoenix realise that while his own visions were relatively tame, in comparison, it could do the opposite desired effect for others, as it has done for the prosecutor. of course this makes him feel extremely guilty; had he known, that magatama would have stayed a secret in his pocket until his dying days.

" moved in unusual ways, huh? that's... wow. that's pretty cool, actually, reminds me of an extra power a superhero would get when given a particular item - y'know, to intensify the powers they've already got... " but as far as either of them knew, they were both... relatively normal guys, right? there was no way edgeworth had this super hidden ability which has only been brought to life because of a spiritually charged item?

no way in hell. that would be absurd. that would... make a lot of sense given the evidence they're both currently faced with.

the glare, while normally would cause a shiver through phoenix ( for multiple reasons, he refuses to think about right now ), goes straight over him as his mind begins to overdrive with thoughts - possible reasons for this to happen - to ensure edgeworth knows there would be no judgement from him over this. " no. it's like a single beat of my heart thuds loudly enough for me to hear, and visualise, before the world becomes dark and the chains with locks appear. "

a beat, before, " do you think you've got some sensitivity to the spirit world? kinda like the fey's do? "

"Oh, Runo! It's so good to see you! Did you enjoy the tea I made?"

Iris beams as she greets Ryunosuke with an infectious kind of cheerfulness, one that seems to have made its home in her lately - though she's always been a rather cheerful child. Right now, Herlock is busy with something or another, so it's just the two of them at the moment - but to Iris, Runo is practically family at this point, anyway.

She was overjoyed when she learned he'd be staying in London - to be honest, the thought that he might one day go away again had kept her up at night sometimes. Maybe it was a selfish thing to worry about, and she knew that, but... after living with him for so long, wasn't it only natural to feel that way a little? Well, anyway, it turns out she didn't have to worry so much after all. Though right now, Iris has something else on her mind that she wants to ask him about.

"I wanted to talk to you about something, if you don't mind. Are you busy?"

normally when i'm thinking about tgaa supernatural verses, i'm thinking of barok as the one keeping the secrets, but while i still love that concept too... i'm also really loving the idea of like, iris and herlock being the ones with the secret this time?? like them living a secret double life, one that they end up letting barok in on, through iris' insistence and in spite of sholmes' reluctance.

i also think it'd be cool if the supernatural had been affecting barok in some way already without him being aware of it... maybe he's been resisting a curse or something, idk. to the point where the detective duo are impressed at his resilience upon figuring it out (though he's still likely in need of their help! the verse can work without this aspect too, though!

Sometimes, Trucy's mind betrays her.

She knows she has no reason to be nervous. Not only is the "problem" she's facing nothing she actually needs to fear; even if it was - it's not like worrying would actually help at all. She hates the feeling of knots in her stomach and trapped butterflies - a sensation that every performer is familiar with, but one she's long since left in the past.

But this is a different matter. Because today she's going to be meeting Daddy in the past - before he'd ever even met her as a child, that is.

It's just as exciting as it is nerve-wracking, to be fair. Trucy feels herself practically bouncing with energy as she prepares herself to "meet" him. She remembers him from when he was that age, of course, but she had been so young at the time - and this is a once-in-a-lifetime scenario that no-one else can ever claim to have experienced. Even if... even if she can't stop thinking about the choice he'll have to make.

"Umm... excuse me, sir!" she exclaims, only needing a moment to stop the nerves from showing on her face and smiling enthusiastically. "Would you like to see a magic trick?"

"Umm... Daddy?"

Trucy's expression is the picture of innocence as she stands, hands held carefully behind her back, beaming up at her father with a smile on her face. In other words - she's definitely up to something. She's sure he's very aware of it, too, but it doesn't worry her - after all, Daddy has somewhat of a mischievous streak himself, and she knows that he knows that whatever she's planing is something he'll ultimately be able to handle.

Still, though. That wide smile and those innocent eyes can only speak to one thing - trouble. But it's actually not what one would expect that she wants to talk about today.

"Are you busy? I have something to show you, you see, and it really can't wait!"
