been talking through Phoenix and Trucy’s relationship while me and some pals play DD, and while I think it’s clear that they don’t necessarily have the classic father/daughter dynamic that people might be searching for in them, I also think that’s what works best for both of them during that time period, especially Phoenix. he’s certainly more hands-off with Trucy than we might expect, given how over-the-top he can be in his care for other characters (Maya, Edgeworth, Dahlia, etc). but I think that’s part of the reason their relationship is so comfortable, if not healing, for him. by the time Trucy comes along, we’ve seen Phoenix spend 3 full games bending over backward to take care of other people in ways that go far beyond the call of duty. I’d say he’s got some attachment issues for sure. and in the culmination of it all, he inadvertently gives up the entire life he’s built for himself in pursuit of protecting others.

and then Trucy comes along, and she’s… capable? she’s proven that she can handle herself, that she doesn’t need to be hover parented. and while she’s clearly still just a kid, I think Phoenix definitely leans into that (possibly a bit more than he should). after the tumult of the past 3.5 games, Phoenix gets to relax. he gets to love someone without needing to go to hell for them—and he would, for Trucy, but by the time Phoenix meets her, he’s tired enough and she’s experienced enough that he’s ready to accept it: he can love someone without giving his life for them unprompted.

for Trucy’s part, she comes from a complicated and shady family. she’s been overly-trusting and used and ended up causing pain for herself and others because of it. I don’t think it would be too much of a shock if a kid like that just wants to be loved without complications or drama. and Phoenix clearly loves her, but he doesn’t smother her in emotionality. he doesn’t ask much of her, and he largely lets her do her own thing. he gives her freedom. and, sure, Trucy was a small kid when Zak left and shouldn’t have been given that much freedom at that age anyway, but I don’t think that would have stopped when she came of age. freedom is something she would lack her entire life in that family, absorbed entirely into Troupe Gramarye without a choice. Phoenix lets her spread her wings and do her own thing, and magic is something she chooses for herself. he doesn’t force her to be his investigation partner and partake in what could easily become her next family business. Phoenix is safe, and he lets her be loved without expectations. in turn, he gets to love without indebtedness.

#obviously there’s a lot more nuance to it than this #most notably Phoenix takes away autonomy from Trucy by not telling her about Apollo #and I think they both use each other to some extent but #I think it’s somehow in line with the unspoken rules of their dynamic #I dunno this is just one piece of it that I’ve been noodling on #phoenix wright #trucy wright #c thinks

FINALLY yall get to see this lmao, basically Ive had an au (??) rattling around in my head where Apollo decides to hire Kay, a private investigator, to help him find and track down his birth mother, shenanigans ensue, some more things abt it under the cut (feel free to ask anything abt it it lives rent free in my head JHKLJ)

-Most likely takes place a year after SOJ- Though I havent actually watched it for myself yet so Im just going off of info from the wiki HGJKHL

-Kay is 26! shes been a PI for about 3 years now and has gained a rep for being VERY good at her job

-Apollo approaches her with basically nO info or leads and while its gonna Make their job MUCH harder, Kay decides to take it on anyways on the condition that Apollo acts as her assistant during this case

-Basically this is just Apollos lil secret mission for himself, he doesnt tell anyone else abt it since its so emotionally heavy for him

-Im not sure exactly /how/ theyd do it, but I do know that Apollos bracelet would be the best bet after looking through way too much paperwork, probably via finding out what its made out of it since its a special kind of metal

- Basically it'd go like: Find out who commissioned said bracelet > turns out it was Magnifi Gramarye > Uh Oh.PNG > Theres only one woman who was in Troupe Gramarye > Apollo crisis whenever he sees Trucy now > He needs more proof though beside that > Kay finds an older recording of Troupe Gramarye, Thalassa is seen out of costume, wearing both bracelets > Well it cant be just coincidence now > He Is Now a lil Magician man > Now they have to find Thalassa > Turns out shes dead > find out that she didnt ACTUALLY die, Magnifi faked her death> not sure how they would get from here to finding out Thalassa is Lamiroir > Also find out that Phoenix has knwon this entire time and didnt tell either trucy or Apollo > mixed emotions over aLL of it but GOD Apollo is just happy to know his mother is still alive

-I like to think that Trucy joins Apollo and kay at some point in their investigation since shes directly involved at that point

-Maybe a small side plot where Apollo hasnt told Kay about the perceive thing and so he knows shes lying about /something/ unrelated to their case (the whole being the yatagarasu deal)

-overall I think Kay and Apollo would be good friends they could ABSOLUTELY match each others energy and it'd be a good time, they're trans girl trans guy solidarity

-It /c o u l d/ be like an Investigations like plot wheres theres different cases that all tie into the greater mystery OR finding his mom is the focus of it Im not totally sure yet hjgkhlj

everyone is always talking about how apollo uses hair gel to put up his horns but i think we must consider that his hair just Does That and what he’s actually gelling is the rest of his hair so it stays against his head like a little turtle shell

exhibit a: in the original japanese his hair horns were implied to be all natural. his ‘so what if i used a little hair gel?’ line is unique to the localization which doesn’t really prove anything but it’s interesting that he was originally drawn with that intention

exhibit b: all the pictures of him as a child have his hair horns. do u think he was gelling it up at age ten from his home in the mountains or whatever??? (idk i havent played aa6) how about as a NEWBORN BABY because he is shown to have the horns when he is itty bitty and it’s the only hair on his head.

exhibit c: it’s genetic. jove justice and trucy both have hair horns. jove’s are pushed down by his hat and trucy’s are tiny on the top of her head like little ahoges

exhibit d: in his aa5 edgy fit, you’ll notice his hair is kind of messed up and looks longer, but his horns are the same. the implication is that he hasn’t had time to gel it because he’s too busy being tortured by visions, but if his horns are still up, that means he doesn’t need hair gel to keep them up

(however artists who draw his horns droopy when he’s sleeping are sooo right the hair horns are actually antennae)

You'll notice that not all colors necessarily match the character's color schemes. This is because while sometimes a character design can influence my synesthetic experiences (which is a whole other conversation in and of itself), they are still primarily based on the key of the theme itself—so a character theme in C major, for example, will always sound yellow regardless of which character it's meant to represent. This is both a blessing and a curse as sometimes the synesthetic color/mood will match a character perfectly whereas other times it will be completely off the mark. But it is still a very fun thing regardless—thank you for the ask!

Phoenix Wright:

Mia set the standards of a lawyer really high;

Yes, he did recognize talented lawyers and knew to be humble, but he never found someone as great as her;

He read in the newspapers about a new lawyer who managed to win some cases that many of his coworkers refused to take;

He did some research on her and all the cases she handled, just out of curiosity;

And noticed that each case was notably tangled in its facts;

His curiosity brought him to court to attend one of her trials and see with his eyes if what the papers said was true;

He stayed in the background for some time, but eventually the fact that both of them were lawyers brought them to work together, and ultimately together;

She also started to attend his trials, and often wanted to discuss them with him, getting close;

Whenever a paper talked about her case and her "invincibility", he bought it and just added it to his collection;

They both learned a lot from each other, and even though she "stole" Phoenix's spotlight, he was more than happy and proud to leave her to these praises;

Trucy was kind of sad when another lawyer joined the house, but she easily influenced her, too, with her passion for magic;

They were often apart, since both their services were needed almost everywhere;

She traveled more willingly abroad, while Phoenix preferred to stay in the country, mostly because of Trucy and his old age and body;

So they also learned to deal with the distance.

Ryunosuke Naruhodo:

They met when Ryu was still learning how to be a good defense lawyer;

He got close because he heard about her and her skills from the inspectors, the various papers both Susato and Sholmes bought daily and in the court itself;

Whenever he wasn't defending someone, he was in court anyway to be a witness to others' trials and learn the profession faster;

It eventually became a fair trade, she helped him with law studies, and he taught her some Japanese;

When things started to get more serious, they had to start seeing each other "in secret", since the Japanese were not yet fully accepted in England, and the last thing he wanted to do was ruin in some way her career;

In court he often posed as her assistant, doing his best to understand each case and be somewhat useful for both her and his studies;

(He often loses some documents, so this task is quickly set aside);

He enjoys so much imagining the various cases and performing them, as if in a theatre, and very soon involves her in this "hobby";

She is often called to various countries to represent hers and to study new law systems, and Ryunosuke too has to go back to Japan, although much less frequently;

Each letter they send to each other in those times is jealously and preciously preserved;

And whenever they're finally reunited, travels are suspended for quite some time.

Sometimes, Trucy's mind betrays her.

She knows she has no reason to be nervous. Not only is the "problem" she's facing nothing she actually needs to fear; even if it was - it's not like worrying would actually help at all. She hates the feeling of knots in her stomach and trapped butterflies - a sensation that every performer is familiar with, but one she's long since left in the past.

But this is a different matter. Because today she's going to be meeting Daddy in the past - before he'd ever even met her as a child, that is.

It's just as exciting as it is nerve-wracking, to be fair. Trucy feels herself practically bouncing with energy as she prepares herself to "meet" him. She remembers him from when he was that age, of course, but she had been so young at the time - and this is a once-in-a-lifetime scenario that no-one else can ever claim to have experienced. Even if... even if she can't stop thinking about the choice he'll have to make.

"Umm... excuse me, sir!" she exclaims, only needing a moment to stop the nerves from showing on her face and smiling enthusiastically. "Would you like to see a magic trick?"

✨introducing pianist and composer phoenix wright!!✨

just a full art post for the aa classical musicians au but i’ll just refer back to the word post for the headcanon details (although i do want to add that phoenix’s composition style is romantic and full of passion (like tchaikovsky) but develops into sarcasm and dissonant during aa4 plot (heavy shostakovich inspo))

anyways i think these two pieces are phoenix’s staple pieces (for the shostakovich piano trio piece, i think he plays it with kristoph the most (who’s the poor cellist i haven’t thought about yet lol))

he was inspired by miles’s playing as a kid to pursue music and be able to play alongside him. also pursued composing to be able to write music for miles to play (wrote a bunch of compositions in uni just about miles) be able to play alongside him. after aa3, became the japanifornia orchestra’s resident soloist and composer and was featured prominently until he was no longer active in the classical music world after a scandal, only composes, adopted trucy, and “friends” with kristoph gavin, a famous violinist and conductor.
