dragons dogma 2 is really missing the job board feature from the first game. having a reason to go out and explore beyond finishing a quest felt so good for self directed play in dd1. don’t want to advance the story just yet? Go to the job board and pick up a job that’s just like “kill a griffin,” that’s a tangible task that requires me to go find one, explore areas I’ve spotted griffins in before, and finally take one down for a tangible reward. in dd2 if you run out of quests you really do have no choice but to wonder around aimlessly or advance the plot

#and like the first game the plot is kind of nothing so it’s not much of an incentive #I spent so many hours in the first game just wondering around killing boss creatures but it still felt meaningful #like I was helping making the towns safer #now some boss creatures just feel like obstacles on the way to a mini map marker #you never need anything they drop so why bother? #dragons dogma #dragons dogma 2
