Lover
This is placed in season 17A without the Covid storyline as I don't acknowledge what happened to amelink after that (it's a joke, i joke sometimes.)
Inspired by Taylor Swift's song, “Lover.”
— Have I known you 20 seconds or 20 years?
“How could I ask you out on a date after you told me I was a rebound?” Link chuckled as he sliced his food.
“I thought you were,” she retorted, “there’s a difference.”
Link insisted, sneering at her, "No, there's no difference at all." Of course, he knew what she was saying, but he thought it was amusing how defensive she was about it.
"No, there most certainly is," she said, grinning as she saw Link place the nicely sliced meat on her plate. "Look, I've barely known you. For all we know, you could be a serial killer.”
Link paused for a moment and chuckled at her wit. "You decided to accuse me of being a serial killer out of all the things you could accuse me of?" Amelia slowly nodded as she ate her food. “You actually make a valid point; surgeons are assumed to be skilled with knives.” He continued
“Should I be scared?” Amelia mocked him.
He shook his head and took a moment to swallow his food. “I'm just an orthopedic surgeon taking a neurosurgeon out on a date because she requested for it.” Link joked, causing Amelia to roll her eyes.
“You're funny,” she said, sarcastically.
Along the quiet streets heading to where they had parked, Amelia smiled at how peaceful it was. The lights were dimmed and everything was just perfect.
"You didn't ask me anything," Amelia said, realizing she was the only one who kept questioning him.
“C’mon, you've got to get to know me.” She softly laughs, smacking his arm. He smiled and reached out to take her hand, which she happily accepted. “I know how your eyes glisten whenever you see or hear something you love. Like brain surgery, people walking their dogs, or the mention of your favorite food after a long day,” he started, “Your favorite color is blue but you love seeing green as you said it was pleasing to the eyes.“ Amelia nodded, quite impressed. “You don't admit it but you love dad jokes, you even make one without realizing it.”
“You know every single word to any Taylor Swift song,” he continued, “And you do this superhero pose whenever you deal with a difficult case.” Link even imitated the legendary pose which made her laugh. “You say you don't cook but you make really good waffles.” Amelia rolled her eyes when he mentioned the waffles. It's not even real food compared to what he had made for her but the fact that he appreciates it, warmed her heart.
“You love wearing comfortable sweaters more than anything else.” He looked at her and smiled. “I could go on if you want.” Amelia shook her head, clearly impressed.
“That's enough for tonight.” She said, smiling as she leaned on to his shoulder, walking towards their car.
That was a year ago.
Amelia and Link hadn't gone out on a date ever since they had Scout. It's either they didn't want to leave him, or they have busy schedules. Valentine's was around the corner and it was only today that Link got to have a day off.
He could tell Amelia was awake, so he turned to her and gave her a soft kiss on the cheek. "Good morning," he whispered softly as he ran his fingers through her hair. "Good morning," Amelia said, a broad grin on her face. She adores it when Link greets her in the mornings with kisses on the cheek.
Amelia looked at how bright it already was outside and groaned at the thought of going to work. She kissed him back on the cheek and gathered all her energy to stand up. “Early day at work for me, but you enjoy your day off, okay?”
Link smiled at her from their bed and had an impulsive thought. “Will you come home early?” He asked, quite excited about this idea he has on mind.
“I guess so, why?”
“How about we go on a date? Just the two of us, at our favorite restaurant.” Link said, watching her face light up as her eyes glistened when he pitched the idea.
“Today?” She asked
“Yes, since I'm fully occupied during Valentine's Day. You don't have to worry about anything. I'll book the restaurant and prepare your clothes, you just get home safe.” He said, eager to hear her answer.
“How about Scout?”
“I'll find someone trustworthy enough to watch him while we're out.”
Link smiled and walked towards her, wrapping his arms around her waist. “Go on a date with me, please?” He asked and gently pecked her lips. “Okay,” She chuckled, kissing him back.
Amelia had to go and he was alone with Scout at the house. Link went through all his contacts and websites finding an available restaurant for them to dine but all were booked.
“Amelia loves the idea of going out on a date and I want this one to be special, you know. It's Valentine's week and we hadn't been on dates since Scout but every restaurant is fully booked and busy this entire week, apparently.” He said watching his last resort confirmed they're fully occupied.
“Just be Atticus Lincoln, you love cooking.” Jo reminded him on the other line. “I'm sure she'd love everything you do for her, effort is what matters you know.” She continued.
“You really think so?” He asked, quite doubting about his plan B.
“I'm sure,” Link could hear Bailey calling her for a surgery. “I've got work to do, just do you, okay? I'm gonna head to Meredith's to pick up Scout immediately after work. I'm sure you'll do great.” Jo abruptly ended the call before he could even speak and it was up to him again.
“It's just you and me, little guy. We have to impress mommy.” He said turning to Scout for emotional support.
The preparation took him all day, from cooking to preparing the venue. Meredith and the kids unexpectedly came home early and decided to help. Jo had arrived a few minutes after them and Meredith decided to stay at the loft for a while so they can have the entire house to themselves. Amelia and Link had taken care of the kids when she's not around, she figured it was the least she can do.
"All right, good luck. It's not like you're proposing.” Jo rubbed his back and said, "Relax a little."
"You're right," he said as he stood there watching them leave. A few minutes later, he heard Amelia's car pull into the driveway.
“I thought we were—” Amelia didn't get a chance to finish her sentence as she stepped into the backyard, completely fascinated by the set up. The fairy lights set the perfect lighting for the perfect evening and the petals that led to their table made her smile. She wasn't the only one fascinated, Link was entirely stunned at how beautiful she was in her red dress and high heels. Her hair was on a bun and she wore jewelry that complimented her entire look.
“I'm sorry. I know you expected a fancy restaurant with some fancy food but they were all booked for the entire week. I wanted this to be special for the both of—” Amelia interrupted him with a soft kiss on the lips and glanced at the entire place again.
“My eyes glisten whenever I see something I love. That says a lot about what I'm feeling right now.” She said, cupping his face with her eyes evidently shining over the dimmed lights.
"Did you do everything by yourself?" " Link helped her to sit, and he took a seat next to her.
"Meredith and the kids helped out, as did Scout. He did a fantastic job," he exclaimed.
"I can tell," Amelia said cynically, her eyes almost hidden beneath her laughter.
Amelia felt her heart warm as she saw all her favorite dishes on the table.
“I'm sure you did this all by yourself.” She confidently said knowing no one else cooks in the house aside from Link.
They started eating and talked about their day. Link enjoys listening to Amelia talk. Hell, he could do that all day. She complained about her patients, ranted about how the residents tested her patience, and everything that has happened at the hospital.
Link sneakily operated on the music as they were talking. It was one of her favorite song, and it seemed fitting for their little date.
Amelia smiled as soon as she recognized the song. “You love Taylor Swift now?” She teased as she wiped the sides of her mouth.
Link slowly nodded admitting to her accusation. It's hard not to love Taylor when her music is the only one he hears every day whenever he's with Amelia. “But I love the person who loves Taylor, more.” Amelia blushed at what he said.
Link stood up and reached out for her hand. “It's my favorite part.” He said
“Oh, you have a favorite part now?” She laughed and hold on to him.
Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand?
With every guitar string scar on my hand
“Will you dance with me?” He asked
Amelia wrapped her arms around his nape and his around her waist. She couldn't stop smiling at how strangely romantic this was. She hasn't had this experience with anyone before, and she confesses it makes her feel soft.
I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover
My heart's been borrowed and yours has been blue
“We made out here.” Amelia laughed, remembering the night they had at this exact place.
“We did.”
“A multipurpose backyard?”
“I guess.” Link slowly spun her around and and took her back to his arms, swiftly.
All's well that ends well to end up with you
Swear to be overdramatic and true to my lover
“Thank you.” Amelia whispered as she hugged him while they danced slowly.
“For?”
“For being the best dad Scout could ever have. For loving us both and taking care of everyone at the house.” Amelia felt severely grateful to have him in her life. It was like having a gift of a lifetime.
“I guess I should thank you for choosing me as your rebound?” He joked that earned him a smack on the arm.
“You have to seriously let that go.” She said glaring at him. “But I am.” Amelia scanned his face and he was genuinely sincere about it.
“I wouldn't have had this beautiful family with my son's explicitly beautiful mother.“ He winked at her.
...
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
“I love you.” She said and rested her head on his chest. Amelia could hear his heart beating and she smiled at that little yet very important detail.
“I love you most.” He kissed his head and enjoyed the rest of the song.
It was the most ideal date she could have wished for, but anything with him is already perfect.
As they stayed there, embracing each other, the song faded out, and they were entirely overshadowed by the wonderful night and their love for each other.
a/n: everything's canon in my head including amelia as a taylor stan! <3

So, THIS IS HAPPENING 🥰
Takeovers tend to mean something significant is happening for that character so here are some of my theories;
Kai turns up in Seattle
Amelia’s pregnant
Amelia continues putting herself first and lays things out for Link
Amelia talks about Kai or her sexuality
Amelia talks about the project
I can’t think of any thing else right now, I actually don’t have any clue what could be going on for Amelia but, I can’t wait to see!
Feel free to share your theories! 😁

Wait, Shepherd?
prompt: Link's friend has cancer which will be operated on by Amelia but he doesn't know he's with her so he flirts with her.
“I didn't know you were visiting Seattle.” Link said, seated on a hospital bed with a pizza box beside him.
“I was traveling from one state to another. When you have a few months left to live, you gotta live life to the fullest, you know.” The patient replied and reached for the last slice.
It was one of Link's friends from high school. He hadn't gotten a chance to enjoy most of his youth because of cancer but when he became free of it, his friend helped him experience what a normal person would during their adolescence.
“My last trip before Washington was Nevada. Do you remember Nevada? You used to date a lot of women there.” He reminded him that made Link cringed a little. “Uh, no! Not Nevada. That was a weird moment in my life, and I wouldn't recommend that to anyone.” Link recalled, laughing.
“At least you scored a lot of hot chicks there.”
Amelia coincidentally arrived at the last thought and was surprised to hear it. She intentionally coughed to let them know she was there and smiled widely at Link who had a slight fright. “Oh. Uh, this is Doctor Amelia Shepherd, she's going to be your surgeon — she’s the top of her league, don’t worry.” Link almost stuttered which made her laugh a little without removing eye contact, making him nervous.
“Oh, I must have died because this looks like heaven! You’re miraculously appealing to the eyes, Doctor Shepherd. I’m Daniel, Link's friend. You can call me Dan or literally whatever you want, I don’t mind.” He foolishly said that embarrassed Link a little.
“When Link suggested the finest brain surgeon he knew, I didn't know he meant professionally and quite literally.” Dan added that shocked them. Amelia doesn't mind the compliments, in fact, she loves them. Meanwhile, wincing in embarrassment, Link rubbed his neck and grinned at her.
“I'm sorry.” Link whispered that made Amelia chuckle. “I don't mind.” She said and smiled widely at the patient.
“I'll get you ready for pre-ops and I'll see you later, Dan.” She walked out of the room, followed by Link.
“I really am sorry for that, he’s not always like that.” Link told her. “I’m more concerned about you scoring a lot of hot chicks.”
“You heard that too?” He sighed.
“Don’t worry.” She paused and stared at his well-structured face for a second. “It’s understandable.” She continued and walked her way to prepare for the surgery.
Amelia was walking Dan to the operation room when she noticed how he was trembling a little. “Are you okay?” She genuinely asked.
“I’m just a bit nervous. Surgery is a 50-50 chance and I believe in you doctor; I really do. I just don’t believe in me that much; I might give up on your table.” He anxiously said “When I do, that’s on me and not you. I just want to let you know, in case.” He continued
“I won’t let that happen.” Amelia said and held his hand. “I mean, I’m gonna die eventually. My previous doctor even said I have a few months left to live and you’re just extending those months. So, if I’m going to die, might as well die trying.” He spoke.
They were still at least 10 minutes away from the O.R and Amelia has observed that his trembling happens less when he talks. Right now, he’s pretty much shaking.
“Uh, where did you meet Link?” She asked, trying to start a conversation. “I met him in high school. We were like brothers, we still are, but I became busy trying to live my remaining days. I haven’t really caught up on him lately.” He replied
“Although I heard of his son. I’ll meet him eventually if this surgery goes well. Also, this woman he's dating, he talks about her often, but I haven’t seen nor knew of her name. I’m starting to think she’s not real cause he talks highly of her, like the perfect woman he’s known. But I’ll believe him because they have a child as proof so there’s that.” He babbled that caused Amelia to laugh, considering she’s literally beside him.
“Not like the other women he’s dated?” She laughed
“Oh, definitely not. Love isn’t his thing until this woman. I want that for me, you know. I want to experience that.” He said and looked at Amelia, mesmerized by her smile. “Are you seeing someone, Doctor Shepherd?” He asked
“Would you like to experience that with me?” He continued.
“Wow, you’re so direct. You really don’t waste time, do you?” Amelia laughed
“I mean, life’s short. It’s quite literally for me.” He genuinely waited for Amelia’s answer, and she just smiled until the elevator doors opened.
“Doctors don’t date their patients, it’s a thing.” She turned him down as nice as she could possibly be. “Well, fair. But you’re not going to be my doctor anymore if this goes well. I’ll try to find another one and I’ll take you out to dinner, if you’ll allow me.” He insisted.
“That would be nice, but I’m seeing someone.” Dan jokingly acted like an arrow pierced through his heart while hearing those words, and nodded. “It was worth to try.” He responded
“That person's lucky. Not many people would have this chance.” Dan said before going through anesthesia.
The surgery was a success, but he wasn’t waking up any time sooner. He hadn’t shown any sign of consciousness and it’s already been a week. Link never left his side and always checked up on him until he started moving a muscle a few days later.
“Page neuro.” Link abruptly said and checked his vitals. His eyes were starting to open as Amelia arrived. “His vitals are good; he moved a muscle. He’s trying to wake up.” Link enthusiastically reported, as the surgery was a success all throughout.
“Dan? Can you hear me?” Amelia called him, softly being as gentle as possible as he’s going to be sensitive to sound. His eyes took some time to fully open, but he immediately smiled when the first thing he saw was Amelia. “Will you give me a chance now?”
Link was clearly surprised to hear those words while Amelia just laughed, knowing she didn’t worsen him.
They gave him a day to recover his strength and Link eventually kept his promise. “This is Scout Derek Shepherd Lincoln.” He said and brought Scout to his side. Dan was smiling so widely until he realized something. “Wait, Shepherd?” He clarified
“Yeah, you were flirting with his mother and my girlfriend.” Link told him that sent waves of embarrassment to Dan’s body. “Oh, kill me now.” He exclaimed that shocked Amelia who just arrived at his room. It was so out of context that Link had to laugh. “What happened?” She asked
“You didn’t tell me it was Link who you’re seeing.” He said in complete embarrassment
“Seeing?” Link asked and gave Amelia a look knowing what they are wouldn’t be described as seeing.
“What? I enjoyed the compliments.” Amelia laughed and moved to Link’s side.
“Don’t worry, she turned me down twice.” He assured him. “Of course, you fit the description.” He said, recalling their conversation a week ago. Amelia just smiled and became serious right after. “I’ll check up on you from time to time. You’ll have to start chemotherapy soon, but you can still continue to live life to the fullest, the way you want it. Just do less extreme activities.” She spoke.
“Well, I believe in living as if it’s your last. Thank you, Doctor Shepherd.” He sincerely thanked her for giving him more time.
“Amelia. You can call me Amelia. And of course, a friend of Link is a friend of mine.” She said and smiled at both his boys.
“We’ll give you guys some time alone to catch up.” She offered and picked up Scout from his dad’s arms.
“You have a beautiful family, Link.” He spoke. “I’m sorry I flirted with your girl.” Dan laughed.
“If I have a dollar every time that happens, I would have been rich and quit medicine." Link replied, laughing with him.

Coming Home (part two)
synopsis: amelia and addison talk about link and shared in ways they've never done with other people.
“You didn't tell me you were coming to Seattle.” Amelia said as she helped Addison with her bags.
“You didn't tell me you had a brain tumor.”
Addison was already crossing her arms, watching Amelia's reaction now that she knows.
“Fair.” Addison scoffed at what she said and stopped her from walking to the driver's seat. “No, not fair!” She argued
“You had a brain tumor, Amelia. I wasn't there for you. The practice wasn't there for you, that's not fair.” Addison lowered her voice, trying not to disturb her nephew from sleeping.
“I came here expecting I'd surprise you somehow but I'm the one who's obviously surprised here. We called days ago and you didn't bother to tell me your baby daddy proposed?” She continued
“I can't really tell you everything, can I?”
“And why's that?“ Addison asked with her furrowed brows, genuinely wanting an answer from Amelia.
“Because.”
Addison was blocking the door to the driver's seat and she wasn't planning on moving any time soon.
“That's a very lame excuse. We're not done talking.” She said and finally moved to her side. “I miss you too!” Amelia chuckled as she watched her trudge to the passenger's seat.
Addison already has a hotel room booked nearby. She's staying there for a while until she's done with her work in Seattle. The next morning, both of them entered the hospital together. As usual, Addison was a head turner — despite everyone being busy, she was able to catch their attention. “I really should get used to that.” Amelia said, slowly getting shy at how almost everyone was looking at them.
“Oh, I got paged for a consult.” Addison pouted as morning coffee got crossed out from their plans. “This early? Oh you're so in demand.” Amelia said with a hint of sarcasm that made her roll the eyes.
“I'll see both of you later.” Addison said, kissing Scout on the cheeks. “I'll see you later, okay?” She repeated but with her baby voice this time.
Addison headed to the patient's room and was surprised to see a familiar face inside.
“Good morning.” She greeted, smiling at everyone.
She was staring at this particular person as he was also surprised to see her there. “You must be Atticus Lincoln.” She continued and offered to shake hands.
Link recognized her, of course he would. Amelia basically has a picture frame of them in her room and aside from that, they call each other often.
It was an awkward first meeting that left him quiet for a while. He stood there beside Jo who was having a fan girl moment with Addison. Link could literally see the heart eyes forming while she listened to her. “I thought you paged Carina.” He whispered
“I did but she was taking a day off.”
“Dr. Lincoln will handle the tibia and fibula diaphysial fracture, while I monitor your baby. It's going to be fine.” Addison assured them and asked Jo to book an OR.
The surgery was doing well so far. There wasn't anything alarming going on as they made all the right calls for both the mother and the baby.
“How is she, by the way?” Addison asked in the middle of their surgery.
“Uh, her vitals are normal—”
“I meant Amelia.” She interrupted and looked him in the eyes. Jo, who was assisting Addison, got worried for him but she couldn't really say something about it.
“I'm not here to pry, I'm genuinely asking.” She continued.
“I... We haven't talked that much recently.” Link said, clearing his throat in between sentences, assuming Addison knew about the proposal.
She thought that was the only response she'd get, but Link spoke again. “She's a great mother to Scout... That word even is an understatement as to how she is with him. I really couldn't ask for a better partner to raise our son with.” He continued
It wasn't visible behind their masks but Addison was smiling from those words. What he said somehow warmed her heart.
But like what she told him, Addison wasn't there to pry. She stopped asking right after that and focused on the surgery.
It took longer than they've expected and it even had a few complications along the way but they still managed to finish it successfully. The baby was fine, and the mother was stable. They still need to check on her from time to time, but at the moment, she's comfortable.
Link went ahead to update the husband while Addison walked her way to the attending's lounge, looking all tired and ready to sleep.
“Hey, busy day?” Amelia appeared beside her. Although she was tired, she still managed to smile at her sister.
“I just spent the entire day with your baby daddy.” She said
“Addison—”
“What? I didn't scare him away, don't worry.” Addison assured her. Amelia couldn't tell if she was telling the truth considering how Addison could be intimidating sometimes but she also realized that if Link's distant—which he already is—it's definitely not because of Addison.
“Well, he's already avoiding me.” The lounge was empty when they arrived and Addison took it as an opportunity to finally have a conversation with her. “He seems like a great guy, Amelia. I can tell he's a great father too.” She said
“No, he's the best. I couldn't ask for a better partner in raising Scout. You should see how he sings him to sleep.”
Addison smiled from ear to ear that made Amelia question every word she said. She gave her a look asking what was funny and Addison shook her head slowly. “Nothing. He said the same thing about you.” She explained
“Wait, you talked to him about me?”
“I just asked one thing, relax.” Amelia glared at her for a while, trying to figure out if she was telling the truth but it really didn't bother her that much. She saw it coming. She hasn't told her a thing, so it was to be expected that Addison would ask around.
“C'mon, spit it out.” Amelia noticed the silence in the room and immediately knew what was inside Addison's head.
She was just staring at her, thinking. It eventually forced Amelia to initiate the conversation. “I didn't tell you I had a brain tumor because I thought I wouldn't make it.” She started out blunt.
“And that's supposed to make me feel better?!” Addison said in shock as her brows practically met each other.
“Well to be fair, I didn't tell my family.” She said hoping it would somehow make Addison feel better but it didn't, instead her mouth dropped open in disbelief.
“Look, I thought I was gonna be gorked and I didn't want your last memory of me in person to be that way. I'd rather choose that 30-minute ride to the airport where you nagged at me all night for leaving James and the practice — that was better.” Amelia rattled off, causing Addison to laugh a little. It made her laugh too, and she hasn't genuinely laughed that much since.
“Still, you should have called me. I would have taken care of you anyway.” Addison said
“I know.” Amelia smiled and realized that other than the brain tumor, she hadn't kept a secret from her until recently and she's quite sure the conversation was heading there.
“And the proposal?” Addison asked when it felt like the right time to be talking about whatever went wrong between her and Link.
“Well...” Amelia started playing with her fingers, as she thought of her next words.
“How did you know that you were ready to marry Jake?” She genuinely asked that made Addison think. It wasn't a hard question, in fact she already has an answer in mind but before she could even say it, Amelia continued talking. “Because you were ready, right?
Addison was going to say that she's too in love with Jake and that it would be a waste to let him go — not to mention the early breakfasts in bed, but sure, what Amelia said made more sense than what she had in mind.
“It took all my energy to stay sober last year. Unlike other people, I can't go running to a glass of wine, because then it would become a bottle, and then another bottle, and then another one.” She continued
“And then when I thought I finally had a grip of myself, he said he wanted to have more kids.” Amelia took several deep breaths in between sentences that made Addison realize how unbearable that was for her.
“I spent the entire pandemic taking care of four kids — three of which are not my own, and I was barely holding on. If he wasn't there, I would have lost it, Addison.” Amelia said with a more serious tone.
“I couldn't do it. Every day felt like I was drowning seeing him imagine this whole perfect future together, and I couldn't really tell him that, because it was nice... Until you face reality — It was nice until I realized some of it weren't for me.” Even from a distance, Addison could see how Amelia's eyes glowed as her tears started to form around it.
“It got worse after that.” She said, forcing a laugh while wiping her tears. “He proposed — several rings, with kids watching, at someone else's wedding — that was my last straw.”
Maybe the reason Amelia hadn't talked to anyone about it was because she never expected it to hurt this much. She was trying so hard to hold herself together in front of Addison and it's taking quite a lot of energy.
“I don't know if that's selfish, but saying no felt right.” She added.
Addison stood up and sat beside Amelia, holding her hands firmly which made it more real and quite emotional for her.
“I love him too much that I fear I might not recover when our marriage goes downhill, which it would because it's not something both of us wanted. And I'm starting to love myself more by choosing not to go down that road and see what would happen, especially when I'm not ready.” Amelia said. “I still want us to work, you know. I tried telling him, he's not listening.“ She continued.
”Why didn't you tell me this?” She asked, running her hand behind her sister's back.
“You proposed to Jake — with no rings and an audience — look how that went. You guys are still happily married.” She pouted at her.
“And maybe I was afraid that these are all in my head. Besides, I was doing well before it... I didn't want you to worry.” Amelia added.
Addison gestured for Amelia to lean on her shoulder, which she hesitated but she missed it so much. “First of all, this is not all in your head — it's scary, but it's real. What you're feeling? that's real.” Addison acknowledged her emotions.
“Marriage... It doesn't always seal the deal. It's not always a choice in deciding to spend a lifetime together.”
“I tried telling him that, subtle and quite literally.” Amelia told her.
“And you're right about that. A paper acknowledging your bond together doesn't always mean validation, and that's coming from me who has experienced both failed and successful marriages.“ Addison wasn't joking but Amelia laughed a little knowing that the failed marriage was with her late brother.
“That doesn't make you selfish, Amelia. Choosing yourself for yourself, that's not selfish and I'm proud of you.” Addison continued, making her feel valid.
“You're just saying that to make me feel better.” Amelia half joked and glanced at Addison. ”I'm serious.” She replied, smacking her arm slightly.
”I might be miles away before until now, but that did not mean I was less proud. I've always been proud, maybe even the proudest.” Addison continued.
Amelia smiled from what she said. This is why Addison will always be the better sister she's ever gotten. Amelia would sometimes think how it's kind of funny that people who she's not related to felt more of a family to her than the ones she had.
“I miss this.” She admitted, leaning closer to her sister. “I've missed you, Addie.” She whispered
sorry the update took a while, i wanted to have a separate fic for when addison and amelia would talk about link but decided to keep it here instead. this is what i've imagined their “beautiful scenes” and “sharing to each other the way they've never done with others” would be and sorry it's quite long, i didn't want to skip.

Coming Home (part one)
synopsis: based on the first promo picture released with addison in it, and then the rest of the plot follows. (addison meeting amelia)
It was Addison's first day back at the hospital and she's already gotten an urgent surgery at her plate. She's operating with Meredith which was quite weird at first realizing she's now an attending and she can't really boss her around the way she used to back then.
“I never got a chance to thank you.” Meredith said in the middle of their work.
“Back when my medical license was at risk, you sent a letter and it helped.” She added
“Ohh. Well, Karev was determined to get you out of that hell hole, he contacted me around 2 am while I was peacefully sleeping with my family. Mhm, I heard he left and went with Izzie?” Addison curiously asked, trying to catch up.
Meredith hesitated to answer but the silence was loud enough for Addison to get the message.
“Don't worry, nothing much really changed here. They just redesigned the place, that's all.” Meredith assured her which made Addison laugh a little.
“You're joking, right? Tell me you're joking.” Addison said but Meredith didn't look like she was joking.
“The several deaths and people leaving? I think that's a lot of change, Mer.”
“Oh, that too.” Meredith realized as if it was nothing to her.
Addison was quite surprised on how Meredith reacted but she gave her a break considering she almost died last year— that's still a lot to process, but then again, Mer has survived almost every death trope given to her.
The operation room was quiet for a while until Addison remembered something she's been wanting to tell Meredith in person.
“I hadn't gotten a chance to tell you why I didn't attend Derek's funeral. It was—”
“Too much? I know. You lost him too, I understood.” Meredith interrupted and although it wasn't visible behind their masks, Addison smiled at her briefly.
The surgery lasted for 2 more hours until they successfully saved the patient and her newborn. Both of them were scrubbing out and before they could go on their separate ways, Meredith spoke.
“Have you talked to Amelia?” She asked
“Amelia? No, I haven't seen her since I got here. I'm going to see her now. I haven't really told her that I was coming, it was more like a surprise. Any hint where I can find her?” Addison cheerfully asked, without knowing what's next.
“Probably in an OR, operating. She hasn't taken a single break ever since what happened and we are worried about her. She won't talk to me about it, maybe to Maggie but I'm not sure if she had spoken to anyone at all.” Mer said that painted confusion all over Addison's face
“Wait, I'm lost.” Addison stopped her
“What do you mean by ‘ever since what happened’?” She asked
“You know...” Meredith looked at her, waiting for her to remember but Addison's face became serious as she really don't have any idea to what she's saying.
“You really don't know, don't you? I thought you knew, I mean isn't that why you're here?”
“Richard called me to help teach new residents—that's why I'm here. Now tell me what's going on with Amelia, Mer.”
Meredith had no choice but to tell her, she figured Addison has the rights to know as well. It was a long conversation and Addison found out about the stories Amelia left out from their calls. She didn't even know about the brain tumor which explains why she wasn't there and now the proposal which happened recently. They've called each other days ago but Amelia didn't bother to mention anything about what happened. She was not angry, rather worried cause it must have been that heavy for her to carry alone that she couldn't tell anyone about it.
Addison immediately went to the gallery where she could see Amelia working. It's been years since she saw her personally. She felt bad for all the times where she wasn't there when Amelia probably needed her the most. Addison knows it wasn't her fault, but she felt bad anyway.
She was seated there for a while until she remembered her schedule. She's supposed to be meeting new residents, but she sat there, watching her sister until Bailey paged her. Amelia didn't notice her come in, neither her leaving so she still has no idea Addison's in Seattle.
Bailey was on the reception desk waiting for her to arrive alongside the residents she's about to teach.
“Oh finally, Addison! Here she is!” Bailey cheered as Addison approached them.
“Did you get lost on your way here?” she whispered
Addison just laughed but her mind was elsewhere during that time.
After that short briefing, Bailey noticed how quiet she was. She was filling up some charts but took glances of Addison who was staring straight ahead.
“Hey, Jo!”
Until someone caught her attention.
“Have you booked that diner for tonight?” A familiar voice she's heard often, appeared in front of her.
It was Link and she knew him obviously. He's the father of her nephew and whenever they video call, he's often there until recently. Now she knows.
Addison watched him and one of the residents from earlier walk away as she leaned in towards Bailey to gossip.
“Are they?”
Bailey knew who she was referring to, she's practically spying on her at the moment.
“Not that I'm aware of.” She said
“So, they're what? best friends?” Addison asked again.
“There's no malice between them, they're just best friends.”
“Well, best friends sleep with each other and that's coming from me.” Addison added, that made Bailey jokingly roll her eyes, understanding the reference.
“If you're asking because of the whole Shepherd and Lincoln situation, you should ask directly from the source who you're closest to. We know nothing about them other than they're not talking nor seeing each other outside work.” Bailey told her
“Right. You're right.”
“How was it being back here?” Bailey changed the topic as Addison became quiet right after that.
“Well...” Addison took a moment to think and look around. “It definitely changed, the place especially.” Addison smiled at the wall where she can see Mark's name on it.
“The last time I was here, I helped deliver Mark's baby and now his name is all over the hospital.” Addie reminisced
“The last time you were here, everyone was alive and present. Now most of them are gone, off to some new paths, and gone literally from earth.” Addison scoffed but looked seriously at Bailey.
“Yeah but you, Richard, Meredith— you guys are still here. It still feels like home somehow. And well, Amelia's here. She's family to me.” Bailey smiled to what she said and remembered something since they're on the topic.
“You also have a family back in LA, I never got to personally congratulate you on that.”
“Aww, thank you Miranda.” Addison softly squeezed her which shocked Bailey but it was their first hug since then, she eventually gave in.
“How's that going?” Bailey asked the moment they parted
“I married a loving and thoughtful husband. I wake up happy with my boys beside me. Henry's nine, but he still sneaks in bed with us when there's thunder. They're pretty great, I'm grateful for that.” Addison said which made her miss them sooner than she expected.
“They sound lovely.” Bailey said and smiled proudly at her. She practically saw Addison with her love complications before, so hearing how she finally got the life she's ever wanted makes her heart happy.
Bailey tapped her shoulder, as she started walking away to handle her patients. Addison watched her go and thought of something to effectively spend her break.
Amelia just finished her long surgery and it was already 7 pm. It was her day with Scout and that's the only thing keeping her rested despite hours of standing in the OR.
She picked up her things from the attending's lounge and walked her way to daycare.
“Hey, uh, where are the children here?” Amelia asked the one on duty who's also about to go home. When she reached there, the lights were already off and no kids were on sight.
“I think everyone's already picked up by their parent or guardian.” She replied briefly
“No, there must be a mistake. My son, Scout Shepherd-Lincoln, I'm supposed to pick him up today. Can you check?” She asked as she was sure it was her turn with Scout.
The nurse grabbed the paper where they write the kids who were there and searched for Scout.
“Ah, here. It says her aunt picked him up.” She said
Amelia was confused as Maggie nor Mer didn't say anything at all but she also felt relieved knowing he's safe. She grabbed her phone from her pocket and asked the nurse who it was so she can dial either of them.
“Uh, Addison Montgomery?”
Amelia paused from what she was doing as her face was all confused from what she just heard. Her mouth dropped open as she looked at the name written on the check out section and it's really Addison's name with her handwriting.
She was still very confused and at the same time surprised that Addison's in Seattle. She slowly walked downstairs hoping to see them on the hallways before she decides to call her.
And there she saw them, standing near the entrance door with Bailey making faces to Scout.
Addison turned to her side and saw Amelia who was still wondering what's happening. She's feeling various of emotions as she walked nearer to them and Addison smiling at her practically made her quite nervous.
“Addison?” She called
Bailey offered to carry Scout for a while so Addison can have a moment with Amelia.
She opened her arms to her and hugged her tight, squeezing in those years of having not seen each other.
Just when Amelia thought she'd let go, Addison pulled her tighter and she eventually gave in, embracing her back.
I have a few more versions of how they'll meet but i chose this one to share, sorry for the errors i started this very sleep deprived :) (this has 2 parts, i'll be posting the second later)

Exile
prompt: new plastics surgeon, link and amelia fights.
“Hey, you're back!” Meredith cheered, seeing Amelia who was changing into her scrubs as she entered the attending's lounge.
“So, how was LA?” She asked
Amelia had taken a few days off from work to visit Los Angeles for a while. She felt like she needed some time to breathe outside Seattle, so she decided to visit her people from the practice.
“Ah, it was great. They were so fond of Scout. In fact, not a minute did they let him go. I really had to ask them if I could spend more time with my son. But other than that, they were great.” Amelia recalled, smiling.
“How were things back here?” She continued as Meredith sat beside her.
“Well, nothing much. There's a new plastic surgeon who arrived two days ago. Jackson was also here to pass it on since Mark had done it with him before. If you're asking about Link—” Before she could even continue, Amelia stood up and interrupted her.
“Thank you for filling me in, I have to go save lives now.” Meredith was surprised at her sister's reaction. Usually, Amelia would ask about him since they're not talking but she figured Link probably cared less about her so she decided to stop. That could also be part of the reason why she got so suffocated in Seattle, especially at the hospital. The sight of Link acting like everything's fine but at the same time pretending she never existed was burying her alive. If this is how he wants to do it, then she'd do the same.
On her first day back, she already got a complicated surgery that she successfully operated on. It was a long one that she felt the need to take a rest or maybe eat something. Amelia was erasing her name on the board as someone suddenly stood beside her.
“Amelia?” He called
She looked at the direction of the voice and saw an unfamiliar face that seemed to know her.
“Am I really seeing Amelia Frances Shepherd right in front of me?” He continued that confused her even more.
“I'm sorry, do I know you?” She curiously asked, having to pause from what she's doing, trying to remember if she knows this guy.
“It's Kyle!” He cheerfully said, as if she's going to remember someone with an unfamiliar face and a one-worded name.
“Kyle Schroeder??? Ring a bell???”
Amelia just stood there, really clueless about what he's saying. She often remembers faces more than names but right at this moment, she feels a second hand embarrassment creeping into her. This guy claims to know her and even knew about her full name, so she thought they really must have known each other.
“You really don't remember me, do you? Hopkins? Guy with that colorful braces who tried to eat with you at lunch? Followed you around because I thought I was into neuro but it turned out I was just into you?” He blurted that shocked her, the shock was really evident on her face that he had to laugh.
But when she thought of it, that guy he had just described suddenly became familiar like a rusty memory somewhere in her mind.
“Oh my god.” Was what she said as her face lightened up, slowly remembering him.
“You do not look like this before.” She recalled scanning his face and noticing how much it had changed.
“It was the braces and the weird hair.” He joked.
“Oh my god, yes! I remember you now.” It became a habit for Amelia to hug someone she knew back then, and so they did embrace for a split second but parted immediately since she still barely knows this guy.
“Wait, you're the new guy?”
“I'm the new guy.” He laughed
They were staring at each other for a little while, until Amelia caught sight of Link who also just came out from surgery.
“I have to go, it was nice to see you again though.” She said and tapped on his shoulder as she started walking away, opposite from where Link was standing.
“Catch you up later? Dinner maybe?” He asked and Amelia just smiled briefly at him, noticing how Link was already staring at them.
Later that day, Amelia was resting on the couch of the attending's lounge when she noticed how the door opened and it revealed Link who was also surprised yet disappointed to see her there.
They haven't been in a room together since the day of the wedding and the tensed atmosphere already began to form around them. It was silent for a little while until Link decided to speak.
“Should I pick up Scout today or you're too busy catching up with that plastic surgeon?” Amelia smirked in disbelief as those words unexpectedly came out from his mouth. Just when she thought they could finally be in a room together again, this is what he surprised her with.
“Is this about what you saw earlier?” She asked although it was obvious remembering how Link was glaring at them.
“I don't know, you tell me. That was kind of cozy, don't you think?” He sarcastically said that fueled the anger inside Amelia.
“You know what? I don't have to explain myself to you — not anymore.” Amelia stood up and walked to the door, but Link spoke again and what he said stopped her.
“I hope when you say yes to that dinner, you'll remember how you said no to me.” Was what he said, and it was enough for Amelia's already existing anger, to burst out.
She shut the door closed and the next thing she knew, her palm landed hard on his face. It was when Link realized how low it was for him to say what he said but it was too late.
“You son of a bitch, you do not get to pull that card!” She pointed at him as her face contorted with rage and her tears slowly forming around her eyes. She knew he was going to use that against her but somehow deep down, she thought Link was better than that.
“You forgot about me, Link! You forgot to check in!” She continued, trying to stop herself from crying but she was too angry at him that she didn't care anymore.
"You were too busy planning this perfect future without even noticing the present in front of you! I was suffering Link, I was drowning for months!”
“You could have told me! We were in this together, Amelia! That's what we were supposed to do!” Link shouted back and Amelia's eyebrows were pulled closer as she heard the funniest thing he had said.
“Well you should have thought about that when you decided to have another kid in our custody and asked for marriage!”
“So it's my fault now? It's my fault to want something!?” Link raged out
“That's exactly the point, Link! You want something I don't! But what about me? What about what I want!?”
Link knew they were both held responsible for what had happened between the two of them, but at that exact moment, he felt guilty and realized what rooted their current situation. It became oddly quiet as their hearts were beating faster than ever, and Amelia was waiting for him to say something, literally anything but he stood there in utter silence as his furiousness turned into regrets.
“Just moments ago you pretended I was a stranger you'd never fallen in love and have a kid with. It was that quick for you to throw everything and never talk nor look at me as if I didn't exist in your life and it ate me alive.” Amelia said quavering as her eyes were swollen red from nonstop crying.
“I don't know where we stand anymore.” Her voice was already trembling as it was the truth she never wanted to speak until now. Looking at Link's reaction, it was his fear too and both of them knew it in their hearts but they were too afraid to say it out loud.
Amelia turned her back and slowly walked towards the door, gripping on the knob as Link hadn't said anything still.
“And for that dinner?” She turned around, one more time to look at him. “I wouldn't betray you like that but I honestly don't know anymore.”
That was the last thing Link heard from her before she faded from his eyes. And he trembled as she was gone.
i'm starting to lose original prompt ideas, go send me some prompts hehe <3

brb i'm just gonna go and cry
custody
i was rewatching the calzona custody battle and this happened 💀 i hope this never happens and i know link would be much more kind but i felt like having an antagonist and it obviously wasn’t gonna be amelia 💅 so sorry this sucks buuuuuuuut whatever
“This is the end. The end of us, the end of what we have . . . the end of everything,” Link ranted as he shoved the rest of Amelia’s things into a bag
“I trusted you- and you’re doing this?” The shock was evident on Amelia’s face.
“You trusted me?! I trusted you! And you rejected me! I poured my heart out to you, and you couldn’t even say anything. You didn’t even have the decency to say no.”
“Link, you stopped checking in.” Amelia crossed her arms, refusing to play the offender. “You didn’t even know if I wanted to get married.”
“I thought we were on the same page.” Link mimicking her stance.
“Well, we’re obviously not.”
“Obviously.” The two stood staring at one another with arms crossed and eyes glaring for what felt like an eternity.
“Alright. I guess this really is the end.” Amelia confirmed, yanking the bag off of the floor and storming into their son's nursery.
“Woah Woah Woah, what are you doing?” Link shouted as he watched her.
“Taking Scout.”
“No, your not.”
“He’s my son.”
“He’s also mine.” Link reminded, his heartbreaking as Amelia picked up their son.
“Well, you didn’t carry him around for nine months and push him out of a tiny opening.”
“Wow, your playing that card.”
“Yes, I’m playing that card because if I remember, there was a time you didn’t even know if you wanted to be in our lives.”
“Amelia-“ She slammed the door before he could finish his sentence. He punched the door before sliding down it, questioning what had happened in the past 48 hours.
_______________________________________
“And your sure your want to do this?” Jo asked as she ran her finger over the rim of her glass.
“I’m damn sure she took my son, and I haven’t heard from her in a week.” Link said after he downed the remainder of his scotch.
“You can’t take this back.”
“I won’t want to. I’m getting my son back.” Link pressed the button calling his lawyer.
_______________________________________
“You’re fucking kidding me, right?” Amelia laughed into her phone, trying to conceal her tears. She flipped through the pages that her lawyer just sent by informing her she was being sued for custody.
“No.”
“You’re turning into your parents.”
“No, I'm not.” Link defended quickly.
“What do you call this then?”
“Standing up for myself and my son.”
“This isn’t necessary.”
“It is you’ve been ignoring my calls! I haven’t seen my son in over a week!”
“We can figure this out. Please. I don’t want to do this.”
“I didn’t either. This is your own doing” Link quickly hung up before he could hear her response, not wanting to listen to her hurt.
_______________________________________
“Mom? Dad? What are you doing here?” Link asked as he kicked an empty pizza box out of view of his parents.
“Well, that’s such a kind greeting,” Eric smirked, allowing himself further into the apartment, shocked at the state of disarray.
“Where are Amelia and Scout?” Maureen asked cautiously as she took in her surroundings, suspecting they weren’t here and hadn’t been for a while.
“Some notice would’ve been nice.” The son muttered as he quickly picked up around the apartment.
“Link, what is going on?” The concerned mother asked, grabbing him by the shoulders to stop him.
“Amelia and I are over.” Link avoided his mother’s gaze.
“Oh, Link.” She knew exactly what this felt like and the stress and worry with a child on top of it.
“Do you have a lawyer?” Eric asked, stepping closer to the pair.
“Eric!” Maureen scolded, though they had forgiven each other for a whole lot; that was something that always lurked. The lawyers, the paperwork, the court dates, the fighting, and the heartbreak.
“I do, a great one. Highest rated family court lawyer in Seattle.”
“Link!” Maureen scolded again, shocked that her son made the same mistake they had made 30 odd years ago. “You didn’t.”
“She was keeping him from me.”
“The kid has a point,” Eric muttered, he didn’t want to get into this fight with his wife again, but he understood where his son was coming from.
“How’s Amelia?” Maureen glared at her husband before averting her gaze back to her son.
“Upset obviously, but she had this coming.”
“You two really can’t just come to an agreement? Like two two three, or every other week?” Maureen sighed, lowering herself onto the couch. “Why do you have to repeat our mistakes?”
“I’m not repeating your mistakes; we’re civil.”
“Are you? Cause it doesn’t seem like that if you're bringing lawyers into this.”
“I really don’t need your opinion.” Link groaned; the last thing he wanted was, to be compared to his parent's messy divorce, even though in the back of his mind, the reality that it was was gnawing at him.
_______________________________________
“I can’t believe you let them say those things about me.” Amelia scowled, trying to hold back the tears that had been threatening to spill out for the past couple of weeks.
“We shouldn’t be talking.” He struggled to avoid eye contact, all he wanted was to forget any of this ever happened, but that wasn’t possible.
“I would never do that to you.”
“This is court, and you don’t win by being friendly.”
“Link, what happened? Why are you doing this?”
“I’m doing this for my son; he deserves someone who wants him.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” The neurosurgeon crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes.
“You never wanted scout.”
“Don’t you ever say that? And we both know if I hadn’t gotten pregnant, we never would’ve considered even having kids. I don’t regret a single that has happened and wouldn’t trade the past year for anything. Scout is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.”
“He’s not the best?” Link scoffed, he knew he was pushing too far, but some part of him wouldn’t stop.
“You’re one sick bitch.” Amelia shook her head in disbelief, storming back into the courthouse before he could see her tears. She wanted to yell at him and tell him all the dark thoughts that couldn’t stop, but she could never articulate. She tried to let him know about the cravings pounding into her head, about the guilt that suffocated her revolving around Christopher, about the apathy that encroached on her way of thinking. The words just never seemed to arise. Scout was what kept her going, he needed her, and she needed him. He was the only reason for her to stay sober.
________________________________________
“Amelia! Wait!” Link called as he caught up to Amelia as she opened up her car.
“What? What else could you possibly want from me?”
“I’m sorry.”
“Yeah, okay, Link.”
“You get why I did this, though, right? Later on, we can talk about you coming to see him.” Amelia breathed in heavily, trying to calm herself before she punched him.
“I hope you and Jo have an amazing life. I hope she provides you with everything I can’t.” Bitter tainted in every word she said.
Before Link could get another word in, she slammed her door and zoomed off, leaving him alone to think about everything that had gone wrong between the two, slowly realizing he was the reason Amelia drifted away. He stopped checking in, and he ignored the silent pain that engulfed her. The longer he stood there, the more he realized he fucked up. Fear suddenly soaked in; he accomplished the one thing he vowed he’d never do. He didn’t get divorced, but had a messy custody battle that would leave the three of them scarred and broken. He turned into his worst nightmare.

Since you've been gone
prompt: the rumored (which i know could be fake) synopsis for season 18 episode 1. — “The team of doctors from grey-sloan prepare for an incoming trauma, but are instead met with two old faces & Link avoids Amelia.”
It was still very early and Jo was already pissed at her best friend who couldn't stop talking about literally anything that comes in his mind. He's been going on and on about how the government should put more effort into saving the planet from global warming to how Scout would look in a marvel costume.
Jo had never spoken a thing since Link has been doing all the talking and she's been staring at him like she's about to kill him if one more word ever comes from his mouth again.
But Jo's been trying to keep herself together, listening to the same thing over and over again. She had undergone this kind of denial, shifting topics here and there but never about the one thing that actually bothered her the most. Seeing how Link's undergoing that similar phase, Jo figured that as his best friend, and the only person he's been talking to since that day, she should at least pretend to care.
“Oh no, I got paged to the pit.” Link said that relieved Jo.
“Thank God.” She whispered to herself, as she got saved by the bell.
“It looks like an in coming trauma. Are you okay being alone here?” He asked
“No, I'm fine with just me and the babies. You should go.” Jo assured him. She's impatient for him to go so that she can finally have her own peace and quiet.
“Okay then. I'll see you in a bit.” Link said and walked his way to the pit. Jo watched him go, making sure he was far enough before she cheered having to get some time alone with the newborns. Although she misses being called for an incoming trauma, Jo found comfort in her new job.
“Hey, you're paged too?” Link asked Nico who arrived before him.
”I think everybody got paged.” He replied as he helped Link with the trauma gown.
Link looked around and saw Amelia running to the entrance, following Owen with some interns and residents.
“Amelia, what did she say?” Owen asked as they waited for the ambulances to arrive.
“She said there was a huge accident near the airport and a mother and her son are in critical condition. She's carefully holding the child but one wrong move could get him paralyze.” Amelia reported, getting really worried about her incoming patient.
“And the mother?”
“I don't know. The call got cut off before I could even ask.” She added
“Who's getting paralyzed?” Link, who just arrived at the pile of doctors, asked one of the residents but he was also unsure about the whole situation.
“How did they meet? I didn't even know they were here in Seattle.” Owen told Amelia
“They met them at the plane, that's all I know.” Amelia responded and accidentally made eye contact with Link who immediately looked away.
The doctors' attentions shifted as they heard the sirens getting louder and saw the ambulances approaching their way.
When she wasn't looking, Link glanced at Amelia who was focused on her task as the paramedics stopped in front of them.
“Where's Doctor Shepherd? Amelia Shepherd?” a familiar voice to some of the doctors was heard on one of the ambulances and it allowed Amelia to locate her.
The other ambulance opened and it revealed the mother who was in extreme shock but was taken care of.
“You.” A brunette who accompanied the mother in the ambulance called out to Nico who's standing right in front of them.
“Are you a surgeon?” She asked
“Yes ma'am.” Nico responded as he approached the gurney.
“Ortho.” He added
“Well what a coincidence, I'm from Ortho too. Callie Torres, nice to meet you.” Even in the middle of an emergency, Callie found the time to properly introduce herself to a new face from the hospital she used to work at.
“Torres, do you need more help?” Owen asked and gestured the residents to help them.
“No, it's okay. I have Doctor Ortho with me.” Callie shouted as they were taken care for. “Arizona might need some help on the other ambulance!” She continued
Owen looked around for vacant surgeons and saw Link who could be of massive help to the other case. He hesitated at first because Amelia was also in the case but it was their duty as doctors to help save lives no matter what.
“Link, go with Amelia on the other patient. She will need you.” Owen said and Link had no choice but to follow.
“Can you tell me what happened?” Amelia asked as she carefully examined the child before moving him.
“He was on the car with his mother when this other car accidentally crashed into them. By the looks of it, the crash could have caused injuries to his spine. He was seated at the back and the other car came at their back. He's been unconscious, Amelia.” Arizona worryingly told her while she could feel her arms getting more numb since she hadn't moved a muscle in fear that she might paralyze the kid completely.
“Doctor Lincoln, can you support the kid from the neck?” Amelia asked that surprised Link. They haven't spoken with each other since that day and it was surprising to him that Amelia called his name.
“Yeah, sure.” He went beside Arizona and carefully replaced the support from her arms with a cervical collar to ease her from the numbness that she's been feeling.
“I'll book an O.R” Link told them and Amelia just nodded as she waited for Arizona who was taking a moment to regain her energy.
“Are you hurt?” Amelia genuinely asked
“No, I'm fine.” She responded
“Nothing much really changed here, huh? Just same old Seattle filled with crashes and near deaths.” Arizona sighed as she stretched down.
“Welcome back.” Amelia smiled at her and both of them walked their way inside the hospital.
— — — — — —
It was a long and risky surgery for both the mother and child but thankfully no one died in the middle of it. Meanwhile, Callie's surgery had finished hours before theirs and she had accidentally fallen asleep beside the mother, waiting for an update about her son.
“Is it too early for me to say congratulations?” Amelia asked while both of them scrubbed out.
“You saw it. You saw the ring.” Arizona laughed at her, searching for the ring in her pocket.
“Of course I saw the ring. That's one shiny ring.” She joked as Arizona proudly showed her the diamond ring that she took off before surgery.
“I'm glad things have worked out between the both of you.” Amelia said
“Me too.”
The two of them walked side by side as they head out the operation room and coincidentally came across Link.
“Hey, you!” Arizona called and gestured for him to come.
Amelia suddenly felt uneasy as Link hesitantly approached them.
“I never really got the chance to properly introduce myself. Also I haven't asked about your name since you were so quiet earlier.“ She said. It's true, Link hadn't spoken a thing in the O.R other than nodding and commanding, compared to how incessant he was talking to Jo earlier.
“I'm Arizona Robbins, I bet we were ships passing when you started working here?” She continued.
“Yes, uh, Atticus Lincoln.” He said and reached out his hands.
“That's quite some historical name you got there.” She joked but both him and Amelia didn't laugh as Arizona suddenly felt this tensed atmosphere around them. Amelia stole glances from Link here and there but he couldn't be bothered to at least look at her for a second. It's like she wasn't even there and it's slowly eating her alive by every second she stood there unacknowledged.
“I have to go check with the other patient. It was a pleasure meeting you, Doctor Robbins.” Link said when neither of them bothered to speak right after. The awkward walls were starting to build around them, that he had to walk away avoiding it.
“Okay what was that?” Arizona asked her, confused about the whole situation. She felt how tensed the both of them were around each other that it intrigued her.
“Like some kind of weird and hard to describe atmosphere. What the hell was that?” She pointed out and asked Amelia again.
“That was something I'd rather not talk about.” Amelia said, heading to the elevator.
“Amelia.” Arizona called as she watched her go.
Arizona was supposed to go to Callie and deliver the good news herself but she figured Link would probably do it for her, so she found herself getting inside the elevator with Amelia.
“So you're avoiding him, why?” She asked as she watched the floors go down.
Amelia sighed as she realized Arizona wouldn't stop asking about it. She hesitated on sharing this with her, but she hasn't really spoken to anyone about it and she figured she could trust Arizona.
“I'm not avoiding him, he's avoiding me.” Amelia told her.
“Okay, but why?”
“Because.” Was all she said. Arizona looked at her and Amelia just gave her a smile but it wasn't the kind of smile where she's happy. That one word she spoke had so much weight and with that smile radiated sadness all over the place. Arizona got a hint as to why. She knows that face, she had seen that face before.
“He's the father of my child and he proposed, and I didn't say yes. Well, I also didn't say no. As a matter of fact, I didn't say anything at all.” Amelia continued
“That's why he's avoiding you?” Arizona curiously asked, trying to process everything Amelia just said.
“But you guys work in the same place together, that's hard to avoid.” Arizona added. But then again, she also had done this before, as well as so many others.
“This is the first time we've worked together since that day but when we're not, I'm usually at radiology and he's at the obgyn floor with Jo.”
“Obgyn? Jo Wilson?” Arizona asked, confused, having to feel like she missed several chapters from what she just heard.
“Yeah she changed specialty now.”
“Are they?” She didn't continue as she couldn't imagine Jo being with another person other than Alex but Amelia immediately shook her head and it relieved her quite a bit cause that would have been worse.
“No, I hope not.” Amelia said realizing she was still hopeful for the both of them. “But if he wants to, I'm letting him go.” She continued seemingly saying it like a hard to swallow pill and it became quiet for a little while.
“You're not going to ask why I didn't say a thing?” Amelia curiously asked, noticing how Arizona wasn't that eager to know anymore.
“Nope.” Arizona said as the doors opened.
“I'm not sure where you're going but I'll be doing my rounds.” Amelia said, stepping out.
“I'll pick up Callie. Bailey was asking for us earlier, we'll meet her together.” Arizona said and waved good bye to Amelia.
She didn't ask because she had seen that familiar face with Callie back when they were doing couple's therapy. Amelia might have been happy with Link until she wasn't. That happened to them before, too. And even though Amelia hadn't said that much for her to empathize, the underlying pain beneath Amelia's exterior was clearer to her now. It was similar to what Callie had felt. And how her heart broke seeing her like that.
"Hey, I didn't know there are a lot of orthopedic surgeons in this hospital now. Back then it was just me.” Callie said as she welcomed Arizona who just arrived from the elevator ride she had.
“I met Atticus Lincoln who's also an orthopedic surgeon. He calls himself Link, no offense but his nickname could have had so much potential other than Link.” Callie laughed as Arizona intertwined her hands.
“This place brings so much memories.” Arizona changed the topic as she looked around remembering what had happened here over the past years. This is where she found her true love and got her heart broken. She gained a family here and lost loved ones too. Going back gave her the nostalgia and seeing some new faces around made her wonder about the new stories this hospital will tell.
“Yeah, it does.” Callie agreed while Arizona rested her head over her shoulders.
“Did you know Wilson changed careers?” Arizona mentioned. Callie looked at her, surprised on what she heard and Arizona just softly nodded her head.
“Wow, I always thought she was going for ortho and then peds since Alex was there.” Callie replied, sighing to how things have changed since they've been gone.
“Well, things aren't the same here after all.” They stayed like that for a little while until Arizona remembered why she was there.
“So, Bailey has been waiting for an hour now. We shouldn't upset her on our reunion.” Arizona said as she looked over her soon-to-be wife for the second time around.
“Oh no we don't. Maybe she'll offer to wed us again.” Callie half joked, walking ahead and reaching her hands out for Arizona.
“Ooh, I like that idea.” Arizona laughed and held onto her as they walked hand in hand together at this hospital again.

This Married Life
prompt: fluffy married amelink both at home and work with link saying “i'm incredibly proud that you're my wife.”
Link's barely awake but feeling the sun touch his face was an indication that he should have gotten up hours ago to prepare for work. The sun was slowly rising but the chances of him being late didn't bother him at all. In fact, he'd rather cuddle with his wife for hours having no regrets or whatsoever. For every time that he wakes up beside Amelia, his first instinct was to roll over his side and cuddle with her. But to his surprise, there wasn't anyone to cuddle with and it awoken him more than anything.
His face was filled with confusion as he searched the room looking for Amelia. Although he was still very sleepy, Link gathered the energy to get up from bed and walk downstairs, hoping to find her there.
Link felt relieved when he heard her voice from the kitchen, talking to their son.
“Look, daddy's awake!” Amelia cheerfully said as she picked up Scout and walked towards Link who immediately smiled at the sight of his two favorite people in the world.
“I'm sorry I didn't wake you up. You looked so peaceful while sleeping, I didn't want to disturb that. But don't worry, I've already prepared your clothes and some food so all you have to do is to take a shower and get dressed.” Amelia assured him, standing proudly in front of her boys.
“You did all this?” He asked looking at the food she prepared and how pampered Scout was. Amelia nodded, confused as to why her husband was smiling so wide at her.
“I'd say Scout and I are the luckiest boys in the whole universe.” Link proudly told her causing Amelia to roll her eyes.
“Now you go or we're going to be late for work.” She said and took Scout on her arms once again.
At the hospital, a patient that Link's been working on for weeks was already ready to be discharged with just some few neuro examinations left. It's been a really long day for him but aside from going home to his family, he gets to allow this patient to go home to hers and that's what keeps him motivated to get through the day.
“Now that you're technically not my doctor anymore, can I ask you out?” The patient bluntly asked Link that shocked him. It was evident in his face that she had to explain further.
“I'm sorry that was quite impulsive and blunt. It's just that, we spent a month together and you're insanely good looking as do I, so eventually that's how it goes... right?” She blushed as she laid out her presumptions.
“Um...” Link was thinking of ways to decline her offer and clear her presumptions while still being respectful but before he could even formulate the words, the patient spoke again.
“Unless there's someone? I mean, of course there's someone! You're good looking and insanely hot. You're probably not the type to still be on the market, aren't you?” She asked again, reading his face that basically says it all.
“Uhh, I'm sorry... But there is someone.” Link said, suddenly feeling some sort of guilt as the patient became embarrassed about what she had just told him a while ago.
“Ah, no need. I'm guessing you already have plans with this someone huh? C’mon spill! I can be happy with other people living my dream life.” She joked but it came off rather awkward to Link. The patient was eager to hear from him, although he didn't actually have some huge plans with Amelia later today.
“Or at least tell me about this someone!” She insisted and Link gave in. Coincidentally, Amelia arrived at the the nurse's station right outside their room, filling up some charts.
“You see that doctor over there,” Link started and gazed outside, making the patient follow. “That's my wife.” He continued.
“Of course you're married!” She rolled her eyes in disbelief as she cringed even more about what she did.
The patient looked at Amelia once again and back at Link. “She's really pretty... I must say hotter than you. You hit the jackpot there.” She admitted causing Link to laugh a little.
“I really did. And for the plans, everything about us comes unexpectedly. It's actually what I love most. We'll probably just head home together with our son, eat dinner and cuddle each other to sleep. I've gotta admit, it's been a really long day.” Link said in contentment and smiled at the thought.
“Ugh, of course you have a child together! Damn it felt like I've missed some several chapters here.” The patient laughed
“She's also the one who would examine you before I'd fully discharge, just in case there would be neuro complications which I doubt. Be nice.” Link half joked as Amelia walked towards their room with a warm smile that she always wore when treating patients.
After a few minutes of examining, Amelia finally gave them the signal to officially discharge her from the hospital.
“Thank God that was fast! Doctor Lincoln here has places to be and plans to accomplish with this special someone.” The patient exclaimed as Amelia helped her out.
“Special someone?” The neurosurgeon curiously asked and looked at Link who was also taken aback by what his patient said.
“Apparently, he's married but no worries, I've seen the wife, truly worthy for each other.” Amelia blushed as she cleared her throat, stealing some glances towards Link. The patient winked at him as both of them walked out her room.
“You told a patient that I'm your wife?” Amelia shockingly asked, trying to hide the wide smile she's been keeping.
“Well, she was nosy.” Link joked and wrapped his arms around Amelia's waist, kissing her head.
“And for the record, I'm incredibly proud that you're my wife.” He added earning a tight hug from his wife.
hahahahaha married amelink :)

It takes one to know one
prompt: a line from charlotte king that says “you can tell me anything, you know. you used to tell me everything.” and she comforts amelia.
It was Saturday morning and Amelia took a day off to unwind from the busy week she had at the hospital. She's been working nonstop, operating here and there, just so she can distract herself from having to talk to anyone about how she's doing or what she's feeling.
Amelia has this list of things to do during her leave but instead, she found herself lying on bed for the last couple of hours. The kids weren't at the house, neither was Scout since he's with his father. She could literally do anything, but she chose to stare at the ceiling while her thoughts slowly drown her.
That's when her phone rang.
Amelia lazily picked it up, expecting to see a common name from the hospital, hoping it would pull her to work but to her surprise, it was actually someone who mattered.
“Charlotte?” She called on the other line, confused why she's calling at ten in the morning.
“Okay, so I went to Grey-Sloan looking for a Doctor Shepherd and an intern told me you didn't come to work. Of course I got worried quick cause why wouldn't you be at work but thank god Meredith Grey told me that you took a harmless day off. So, are you at the house?” Charlotte rattled on.
Every word that came out from her friend's mouth just made Amelia's brows furrowed even more, confused as the conversation progresses.
“Wait why were you at the hospital? You're in Seattle?” Amelia asked, sitting down.
“You haven't been picking up your phone for days, we got worried. Now are you at the house?” Charlotte asked again.
“We? Who's we?”
“For God's sake Amelia, the whole practice. Addison, Jake, Cooper, Violet, me, should I keep going?”
What Charlotte said was true. Amelia was ignoring everyone that's why she's been burying herself on work so that she would have an excuse, but this is Charlotte she's talking to. She knows her.
“Are you really not gonna answer if you're at the house or should I kick this front door myself? I doubt Meredith Grey wouldn't mind a few fixing.” Charlotte asked that bewildered her even more.
“Wait, you're here? As in right in front?” She eagerly asked as she hurriedly walked out from her room and downstairs.
“As in about to bust this door open.” That was the last thing she heard before opening the door and seeing her blonde best friend, relievedly smiling right in front of her.
It's been years since they've seen each other in person. They call to check up on each other often but this was different because she's actually in front of her and even though it was unexpected for Amelia, she's been wanting for them to reunite, particularly during these times. No one knows her more than her people from Los Angeles, especially Charlotte King.
“Where's your boy?” Charlotte asked, seated at their dining area, as Amelia gave her something to eat.
“Scout? He's with his father.” She briefly said.
“This father, Atticus?” Charlotte continued
“Yes.”
The conversation wasn't going anywhere if she keeps up with this basic talk. Charlotte looked around and saw nothing unusual that could worry her about Amelia.
“What are you doing here? I thought you were with everyone when you said ’we’ earlier.” Amelia asked as she sat right in front of her.
“Addison got pulled in from an emergency surgery, Violet couldn't leave because Lucas had a cold, Naomi had to be in the practice since Sam is booked and busy, Sheldon, well, he's Sheldon. But he really wanted to be here.” Charlotte reported but there were other people missing. She noticed that Amelia was waiting for a continuation and so she gave it her.
“Jake and my husband are babysitting in the park— they're here with me. I told them that we needed some girls talk.” She added.
“You're not asking for James, are you?” It made Amelia chuckle and immediately shook her head to clarify.
It was quiet for a moment until Charlotte broke the silence, asking what Amelia's been waiting for her to ask since she got here.
“Are you okay?” It took a while for her to answer since Charlotte could see right through her, she wasn't dumb and clearly it wasn't the first time— if she lies, Charlotte would know.
“You can tell me anything, you know. You used to tell me everything.” Charlotte added
“I tell you on our calls.” Amelia defensively said.
“Sure, like, how are you amelia? oh i'm fine! work is great, I get to save lives, wohoo me! every time.” She replied, imitating their recent conversations during calls, that made Amelia laugh a little.
“Well, that's something.”
Charlotte was dissatisfied and gave her a look, waiting for Amelia to take her seriously until she couldn't look her in the eyes because she knows what Charlotte's doing.
“I haven't been drinking. No alcohols. This is a liquor-free house. Certainly not taking anything. I've been to meetings, although not last week because I busied myself at work.” She said forcing a smile.
“When I feel like I'm losing it, I look at my son and it gets a little better. One day at a time.” She added
Charlotte leaned in and held her hands keeping eye contact at her brunette friend.
“You know I'm proud of you, right?” She said.
Amelia briefly smiled at what she said but there were no lies that it made the weight she's been carrying for weeks, lighter.
“I'm happy to see you like this.” Charlotte added with a reassuring smile.
“Like a hopeless broken, probably single mother, who locks herself in her room when she's not at work?” Amelia half joked.
Charlotte slowly shook her head and squeezed Amelia's hands, “A brave and caring mother.” She said. The sincerity on how she said it gave Amelia the reassurance she needed and it was enough for her to get through the day.
In honor of Caterina commenting on Kadee's post and then fleeing right after like who allowed them??? :")
