We'll get sexually experienced Colin on the show and I've made my peace with that (kind of, still hate this supposed brothel scene because really...why? you can make clear he's experienced without showing me him fucking someone who's not his lead) but I'll admit I'm personally (because I need to make clear this is my opinion and I'm entitled to that, even if you think I'm dumb or wrong for having it), a little sad we won't get inexperienced Colin because that would've been cute and different than what we got on previous seasons (He really gave me major Demisexual vibes in S1, he seemed pretty reticent about romantic and sexual advancements without fully feeling sure about his feelings for the person in S1. As one myself I liked that, but alas). I'll skip the unamable scene and enjoy my babies recking havoc (and tearing clothes) in that carriage.

thank you for the answer! tbh, i don't think i ever thought he was a virgin based on the s2 swearing off women thing which is probably just a perspective thing of them showing the men treating sex and love/marriage as very different things (bc ofc they do 🙄). i admit i didn't read all of the books so idk know about him being one in s1 or if/where it says anything about in the books other than the polin book so obviously i might be missing info on that.

i just assumed that the difference is that they portrayed him as a boy in s1 & 2 and since this is his season they want him to be shown as a grown man the way penelope looks more mature as well (tho still, i think this can be conveyed without showing us the actual scene itself but i get it storytelling wise). since we're getting the polin story almost 10 years (ish?) earlier than it happened maybe that plays into his transformation i have no idea.

i get what you mean tho, for sure! maybe they should have given a hint earlier, i'm not sure where they could have put it since it didn't really seem to fit into his s2 story so that's why they're doing it now, i got nothing else other than it's there to show him as a man bc that's what the show does lol.

Regarding Polin and *that* article:

I want to start by saying I don’t trust The Sun at all.

That said, I also think that some things in the promo and some of the stills from the episodes support the “sowing his wild oats” Colin. I do think he’s going to be going a little wild when the season starts, both to test out his new “swagger” with the ladies and to prove to himself and others that he is less naive than he was when the show started. I think it’s also how the show plans to prove that he’s over Marina.

Which honestly…kind of sucks. I like Simon and Anthony and appreciated their character arcs, and for a character like Benedict a little recklessness makes sense too, but I really don’t think Colin is the type and was hoping for a slightly different take on the MLI this season.

I actually have a question about the virgin colin thing and I promise it’s in good faith. Outside of the first season where Anthony saying he’s green, do they say it or imply it’s a recurring theme with him? I may have missed it because I felt like s2 dragged on a bit and I zoned in and out a bit but I don’t remember it being brought up again. I don’t disagree that it’s a tired trope and what they’re implying could be done without showing it but I feel like I saw it said way more in fandom than as an actual plot point of the show.

Hi no worries, I love a good conversation. Well, about S2, directly we didn't have any confirmation. The thought of him continuing being green comes perhaps from his "swearing off women" thing. But I think what drives the point that he was green still in S2 is perhaps how they're all trying to sell that he's coming back from this new trip with "experience", which suggests he didn't have it in S2. But it's exactly as you say, if they did it in a subtle way, like him showing confidence whatever, we wouldn't be like: okay so he lost his V card right before his season, we would just ignore it and continue the day not giving any thought. Doing the way they're doing it really makes it seam that he was a virgin baby in S1 and S2 and it brings the point of why change that just before his season. My problem is not that Colin is not virgin anymore per se, is that he already wasn't in the books and they changed that in the show and for what? if not for it to make it something for Polin. I hope I have made sense

Are the Bridgerton showrunners going to push the every Bridgerton male is a playboy every season (and the love triangle thing too, don't think I didn't notice that miss Rhimes)? I don't know if the rumors of Colin coming back a rake in S3 are true, but if they are I don't understand the point of having made him a virgin in S1, he was not in the books and if that change wasn't to make both him and Pen virgins then what was the point? To make him seen less responsible in the eyes of Anthony? (and let's not even talk about the fact that to think that not going to brothels or having a mistress is being less responsible is garbage). I know that canonically some of the male leads are rakes, but if they changed the show to make Colin not one then why change that in his season but NOT with Penelope? I mean, they literally alluded in the series that Edmund was a rake when is CANON in the books that he had never done anything before Violet? If it goes like this they'll make Phillip (a man that canonically hasn't slept with anyone in 10 years since that one awful time with his wife) a playboy.

I feel like I went on a rant but I guess it comes from my recent found frustration and growing dislike of the "all male leads have to be playboys" trope in books and series, plus the fact that is not even them just being playboys, is the fact that we're constantly reminded of that. Like, I don't wanna be constantly blasted in the face with the fact that he has slept with half the world population when I'm supposed to be following his love story with this one person. It's not that the leads have to be virgins (although I'll be honest, would love more of this trope), is that I don't see the necessity of reminding the audience all the time of what is the ginormous body count of this supposed sex god, like....okay, what does it matter to his romance with the one he's gonna end up with? Do you need to focus on his past and how he sleep with this one and that one so much while you're trying to sell a romance with another person to me?

anyway, sorry for the rant but I spiraled this evening and this is the best place to let go of my thoughts.

A funny little head canon I will include in every fix it fic that I do for Daemyra is that Beesbury panics with the amount of children Rhaenyra decides to have (and in my fics she surpasses Queen Alysanne) because there’s no dissuading Viserys from throwing a huge days long celebration every single time. It gets to the point where he creates a little separate fund called: “To be used to Viserys’ spoilings of his grandchildren”
