Rurouni Kenshin (2012)
Synopsis: Former legendary assassin Himura Kenshin has now become a wandering samurai. Offerring aid & protecting those in need as atonement for his past deeds. During this time Kenshin Himura comes across and aides Kamiya Kaoru. Her father opened the Kamiya Kasshin-ryu, a kendo school located in Tokyo and Kaoru is now an instructor there. Kaoru then invites Kenshin to stay at her dojo. Their relationship develops further, but Kenshin is still haunted by his violent past ... Main Cast: Sato Takeru as Himura Kenshin Takei Emi as Kamiya Kaoru Kikkawa Koji as Udo Jin'ei Aoi Yu as Takani Megumi Aoki Munetaka as Sagara Sanosuke Ayano Go as Gein Tanaka Taketo as Myojin Yahiko Eguchi Yosuke as Saito Hajime Kagawa Teruyuki as Takeda Kanryuu My opinion: If you're a fan of the anime/manga this movie is not going to let you down! The movie is a "mini-mix" of the beginning of the story from the manga. I say that because they interlaced the introduction stories of Kaoru, Megumi, Sano and Yahiko(being the opium dealer from megumi's story the main villain). And I thought Sato Takeru was a great choice for the role. As I was watching the movie I could really see the character come to live. I highly recommend it! And if you're not familiar with the series, you should totally watch the anime and read the manga, it's a great story!

Me too, Flower! (2011)
Synopsis: A tough female police officer who suffers from depression falls in love with a young multimillionaire whom she initially believed was a parking attendant. Instead of counting her lucking stars, she is taken aback by how rich he is. Officer Cha Bong-sun is a peculiar woman who defies the rigid social hierarchy and rails against it. And Seo Jae-hee, the millionaire boyfriend, is a peculiar man who falls in love with this quirky police officer. They fall passionately in love with each other. A crazy sort of love. A story about people, relationships and love.
Main Cast: Yoon Shi Yoon as Seo Jae Hee Lee Ji Ah as Cha Bong Sun Han Go Eun as Park Hwa Young Jo Min Ki as Park Tae Hwa Seo Hyo Rim as Kim Dal Lee Ki Kwang as Jo Ma Roo
My opinion: Not that typically boring love story, but also not one of those dramas that you wanna tell everybody how cool it is, but I liked it. It's been a while since I last finished a drama of this genre because I was really enjoying it and not just for the hell of it. The whole "rich guy falling for the poor girl" thing may seem kinda cliché, but the story manage to overcome this and I think it was very unique, because they talked about things like depression, lonliness, obsession, etc.

He says I’m pretty. That he’s happy because of me. That I’m like a light on a dark road. But… who would think like that? That I’m a gift from heaven? Who would call me that? It doesn’t make sense. It’s all a lie.

My opinion:
This movie is INSANE, it blew my mind. One of the best Japanese movies on the genre, on my opinion, a true masterpiece.
Tumblr media
This movie is both disgustingly perverted and vividly surreal.  It combines dazzling cinematography and mind-bending dream sequences with some extremely graphic sexual content.
It also does a superb job of blurring the lines between fantasy and reality. Most of the film is told through flashback sequences inter-mixed with very bizarre dreamlike scenes of a macabre circus.
If you like psychological thrillers that are dark and morbid you might want to give this one a try.   I will admit, though, Strange Circus is definitely an acquired taste and not for everyone.
