Tolkien’s subtle connections between LOTR and The Silmarillion are just glorious to discover. Like the reason Gollum hates sunlight and moonlight is the same reason the Nazgûl get scared off when Frodo calls out to Varda! Sauron, and thus his servants and his Ring that has completely corrupted Gollum’s soul, shares the absolute darkness of Melkor, who always hated and feared Varda because she is absolute light and thereby she created the Sun and Moon in defiance of that darkness… and she created them out of the last remaining light of the Two Trees which Melkor destroyed, so every time a piece of Melkor’s darkness comes into contact with the light of the Sun and Moon, it is reminded that Melkor did not destroy that light completely, that it lives on. Gollum can feel Varda’s creations forever clashing with what is indirectly Melkor’s creation.

Ulmo, in his elaborate matchmaking effort to make sure Earendil was born, looked at Tuor and Idril and said "THIS SHIP WILL SAIL AND NEVER SINK" and then personally made sure of that, sending Earrame straight to Valinor and getting Tuor immortality so he and Idril could stay together forever.
Ulmo, despite being single, and besides from being the Lord of Waters, is also the Lord of Ships, in more ways than one.

Obsessed with the idea of Maedhros being programmed to react to crying babies.
Like, anyone could hand Maedhros a baby elfling, edain, or anything else humanoid and he’ll just Take The Baby and start cradling it on instinct.
This guy has six (6) younger brothers.
Imagining a scenario where post-angband Maedhros is sleeping (miraculously) but someone’s baby starts crying outside his tent and Maedhros just, shoots straight up immediately like “where is baby. Why is baby crying.” And it’s the most encouraging thing that Mae’s done since Fingon rescued him.

Oh my gods oh my gods!!!
I was inspired by Davos from Game of Thrones talking about Shireen and I thought it fit for Aulè yelling at Melkor about Mairon/Sauron and about how Melkor "killed" Mairon and manipulated and killed his beloved Maiar to create Sauron.
It may go something like this!:
Aulè: "You killed Mairon!"
Melkor: "I did no such thing-"
Aulè: "I loved that boy... like he was my own... he was good, he was kind, and YOU KILLED HIM!"
. . .
Aulè mourned for Mairon the way a parent mourned for their child...

Do you ever think about the fact that according to at least one version of the story (this is from Lay of Leithian Recommenced, lines 518-531, the highlighted line is 523, if anyone wants to look it up), Beren, in the time between his father's death and him finally leaving Dorthonion, manages to actually wound Sauron and still escape that encounter with his life??

To me, as I perceived it, Manwe and Melkor are bound to each other, they are brothers and the eldest of the Valars, and they understand Eru more than the others. But at some point I think that Melkor was more powerful than his brother, even though at the end he didn't have authority over Arda because of his treason.
It's kinda love hate relationship because at a certain moment Manwe didn't really take a bold decision against Melkor, because he was his brother, and so is Melkor.
That's why I depict them in a same manner, the melancholy in their gesture is what I wanted.

tar miriel dreaming the fall of numenor add so much depth to her tragedy. here she is dreading the future, because she received an omen regarding her beloved kingdom. then, come the future where ar pharazon took her throne and let his arrogance lead his mind. later on, her council and her people will be consumed by sauron influence which lead to the destruction of her city. then the blasphemy that comes after.... there's nothing else she can do about it but to watch in fear. all that she worked for- gone.
