Greg’s still looking at him in a way that brings to mind there is no penny. And there’s definitely no pounds. “I still don’t follow, John.”
“You know…” he gestures with his glass of beer between himself and Greg. Like an idiot. Good heavens, Sherlock owes him big time. “Sherlock’s a special kind of human being, and I don’t know how to tell him that, you know, I’m interested in him.”
Greg seems amused, holding back a grin. Unsuccessfully, John may add. He sets his elbows on the table and John’s eyes trail down to his forearms. Rather shapely, they are. “I’ve no idea what you're about.” Greg’s usually soft spoken, but this is the specific way he talks to people he either subtly makes questions in crime scenes or he considers dim enough to not understand him if he speaks fast.
Filling his lungs with air, he lets it out slowly. “Well, you managed to get Mycroft, didn’t you?”
Seduction for Beginners [T] in AO3
My 100th story for Mycroft & Greg!

“And how many lovers did he have?”
“At least thirteen. Men and women, and the in between.”
“Lord!” Greg stared at the man. He couldn’t understand anything of it.
“You should ask Mycroft.”
“Mycroft? How would he know?”
“Mycroft? You mean the king of nail and bail?”
“What? Mycroft?”
“Yes John, Mycroft. You don’t think he was born in a three piece suit and an umbrella, do you? He had quite the colourful, wild youth, my dear brother. It’s a surprise he doesn’t have a crazy ex, or five.”

The Master and Margarita is one of my favourite novels (100% recommended) so I used a quote from it, and with one hell of headache, I typed:
'Vladimir Nabokov (don't ask), The Master and Margarita'.
Thankfully, before I hit publish, I thought "Yeah no! It's Bulgakov! and corrected it. Just Bulgakov though. Vladimir stayed as it was. So today, & while the migraine still rages I see "Vladimir Bulgakov".
Something special for Hallowe’en! Three wonderful, slightly spooky, behind-the-scenes photos of a ‘dead’ Martyn (Rupert Graves) in Louis Malle’s Damage (1992)

I was cripplingly shy. I remember walking with my first girlfriend – I was shaking, I literally couldn’t speak. It might be true that some girls quite like that shyness but you don’t see it like that. You see a world full of capable people and you look like the fumbling big-handed, big-footed, misshapen-headed monster. [source]
