Two-color long-sleeved Baltis shirt with a band collar, made in complex raglan style. The shirt can be worn in several ways - both the sleeve at the elbow and the sleeve-ends at the wrist can be rolled up or it can fall freely. Off-white Agoya Mother of Pearl button reflections are the third color. Illusion (trompe l'oeil) of a short-sleeved shirt layered over a long sleeve.
Designed and handmade in Lithuania.

1983 Christopher Nemeth suit made out of discarded UK mail/postal bags. This suit was originally purchased directly from Nemeth by one of his roommates when he was based in London in the year after he graduated from the art school. He would move to Japan several years later.

ALTERNATIVE STYLE ICON: JAWN FETTERMAN
by Réginald-Jérôme de Mans
I often spare a thought for my friend, fellow cat lover and erstwhile Elliot Richardson impersonator Derek Guy, who founded a blog called Die, Workwear! and now writes extensively about the wonkiest of workwear, himself sporting Japanese versions more authentic than the originals.
It is easy to write about gestures. About a particular pose that readers can infer stands for sincerity or that authenticity. In that manner, I could write paragraph about paragraph about John Fetterman, the 6’8” tall, imposing and intimidating lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania.  He posed for his official portrait in a Dickie’s work shirt, the better to suggest he was down to earth and up for any job, no matter how unglamorous. He had his arm tattooed with the dates of each murder that occurred while he was mayor of the post-industrial town of Braddock! He spurned the official residence of the lieutenant governor to live in a converted car dealership with his wife, a former undocumented immigrant. He punctuates Twitter with the occasional pithy tweet and seems to make most of his appearances in jackets from Carhartt, another no-nonsense workwear brand.

Every thread or scrap of fabric could save them from the freezing cold in winter or from the scorching sun in summer. Poverty forced people to make only functional clothes with low representational value. Construction of boro is essential, determined by necessity and traditions. Designs are distinguished by different patterns of patches and functions; for example, a blanket and a sheet for childbirth bodoko, winter jacket hanten, sleeping coat donja and other. Sashiko stitches that hold the scraps together are not hidden but rather intertwine with the fabric and reinforce it.
Bodoko, hanten and donja are all mended and patched up like armour to protect from the external effects. In theory, such garments could continue being repaired endlessly. Just like the Ship of Theseus, where rotten wooden parts were replaced by new ones, these garments could last for decades remaining the same, yet different. The garments have an implied frame and shape, which survive throughout the constant repair of fabrics.

Creation of clothing has gradually turned into the creation of fashion, and now it is even referred to as the fashion design. Even the Bauhaus movement, the simplified and functional traces of which can be found nearly everyday in our environment, didn’t leave noticable traces in creation of clothing. Constructivism has taken strong roots in architecture and industrial design, but its application in creation of clothing is more complicated as there are certain peculiarities to be factored in; e.g. changes in clothes during movement, physique and geometrically imperfect organic shape of the body. The most simple and impractical expression of constructivism is to dress the body with geometric shapes, like the stage costumes of the Triadisches Ballet (The Triadic Ballet), which look more like moving sculptures rather than costumes. In this example, the kinetic function of geometric forms prevails over the comfort of wearing the costumes.
