Been thinking about how post-6.0, Roscoe wields the shattered shards of his greatsword in the same way a sage wields their nouliths. Ghimlyt Dark, my beloved gpose stomping ground, how I love you so
Saran Qalli, Memoriate-turned-voidsent and thirteenth shard of Euphony.
Roscoe first made contact with her on the Void Ark, when his exposure to the voidgate unlocked his affinity for black magic, present in his Mhachi bloodline, and the two of them forged a connection. It wasn't until Roscoe managed to find a way to help her regain a humanoid form that they managed to communicate properly, but they're still unaware that they are shards of the same soul.
Their relationship is amicable, but both are searching for a way to release Saran from their pact and allow her to live her own life again.
(I'm currently waiting to see what happens with MSQ to decide whether they succeed and Roscoe loses his BLM/RPR abilities, or if they rejoin!)
I finally did it, I put together a voice claim video for Roscoe (featuring his mama) ✨ Dialogue is from Sean Bean and taken from Civilisations VI and LOTR. Roscoe is a gruff little Yorkshireman - I mean, Ala Mhigan
I set myself a little personal goal during the tomestone event to heal all the Nier raids and ran Paradigm's Breach as AST last night, which mean I've now healed every alliance raid in the game! Given that when I first started playing I swore I would never tank or heal because they were too scary, and I've been a tank main for four expacs now and healed all alliance raids, I'm pretty pleased with my character development!
I've been wanting to create 'boss' images for the lalas for a while, and where better than this trial? Thanks to my pals for queueing with me so I could get these shots!
At the edge of the universe, Roscoe almost succumbed to grave injuries, his greatsword shattered and his body pushed beyond its limits. Only thanks to his manifested darkside Esteem and his daughter Yuyuka did he make it home.
Roscoe lore below!
Now, he still uses the same sword. His weakened wrist, which was damaged in the same fight, means he can no longer wield a traditional greatsword, so he now uses a weapon made mostly of aether with the shards of his old sword suspended within it. I really need to draw it to better demonstrate this, but the sword can split into parts depending on its required use. Roscoe may technically be an AST in terms of calling power from the stars, but he channels that power through the pieces of the greatsword SGE-style.
Also yeah. The final EW cutscenes? None of it canon for him, because he was unconscious. He made it through most of the story but at this point he hit his limit. He's not infallible, and he fell at the final hurdle, but with the love of others - and self-love - he made it through. I don't really have a lot of character influences for Roscoe but I have big feelings about him being a hobbit-style character. A little guy on a big, unexpected adventure. And at the end, he 'fails', because that adventure pushed him too far. But that doesn't mean a moral failure and it doesn't mean people think less of him for it. That parts means a lot to me. I love my lil man ♥
Roscoe has no love for battle for its own sake, but when protecting the ones he loves, you'll find him in the thick of the chaos: a raging flurry of petals and blades
