Pre-TBOSAS SNOWJANUS AU: (PART 3)
[P.s: This is from Alexander's POV]
Alexander looked up at the sky in frustration. Truly, this day couldn't get any worse. It's his first day in this wretched university, and he just had to go and get himself lost. Not that it was all his fault.
The students weren't much help in guiding him around the campus grounds. Each time he'd approach someone to ask for directions, they'd either scoff and ignore him, or turn to him, look him up and down and glare in a manner that would make you think they'd seen some sort of wriggling bug.
The teachers weren't much help either, rushing from one building to another. He accidentally bumped into one said teacher, and their reaction was...alarming, to say the least. Alexander shudders at the thought of that encounter. Hopefully, he won't be seeing any more of that particular teacher anytime soon.
He sighs in exasperation. He looks around once more, taking in his surroundings and scratches the back of his head. He decides that there's no point in turning back. He's already lost half of his morning classes, and by the time he finds wherever it is he's supposed to be, the entire school day will be over.
He shakes his head, and a small smile appears on his face. He might as well enjoy the scenery around him. He walks for bit, feeling the cool breeze in his hair. It's quiet, no sound of busy teachers or gossiping students anywhere close. It's nice.
He frowns a bit as he thinks of the student again. Most of them come from old money, or new money, who cares. They all seem to carry themselves with an air of confidence and arrogance that feels forced and suffocating. He'd seen the way they judged his appearance. He'd heard some whispered comments as well. Did they not know what the word 'subtle' or 'discreet' meant in the Capitol?
Honestly, for being the most advanced city in charge of an entire country , you'd think it's people would know how to behave appropriately. There's a thing called manners, you know?
The people in the districts have them. Do the people of the Capitol believe themselves to be above all social queues as well? Ridiculous. To Alexander, it seemed like they were pretending to be more than they were. Clowns in fancy clothes. Idiots trying to rule a country when they couldn't even rule a city.
Alexander clicks his tongue in annoyance. He wants to go back home where he belongs. Back to 4. He knows he can't. He knows he's been luckier than most. A nice new home in the Capitol, with nice new clothes and nice warm food. His parents with well paying jobs. All because they happened to be on the 'right' side of the war. He hates it.
He's only been in the Capitol for a short while, and he already knows he'd rather be back in district 4. No matter how bad the situation may be over there. He'd rather starve and fight for scraps each day than live a lie in this fake paradise.
How could anyone expect him to simply enjoy his life in luxury when he knew how bad others had it back at home? In his district. In every district. His parents told him to move on. They told him that they were above them now, that they were better now. That they were Capitol now. He scoffs.
He'll never accept such a fate. One day, he'll go back. He just knows it. He can feel it to his very core. No matter how much anyone tries to change him or mould him into the image of a perfect Capitol boy. Inside....inside, he'll always be district.
He stops walking once he reaches a large oak tree. It's beautiful. He can hear the faint sound of the leaves dancing in the wind. The birds chirping high up in the branches. And an odd sound that he can't quite place.
He moves around the giant tree roots to find wherever that misplaced sound is coming from. He finds a thicket of bushes shaking in an unnatural manner. He walks up slowly, an uneasiness creeping up his spine. The shrubbery suddenly stops moving. Alexander freezes, waiting.
A moment passes, then another. Alexander exhales and relaxes, a goofy grin spreads across his face. His mind is always looking for trouble where there is none. He chuckles and goes to move away. That's when it strikes.
In an instant, a furry ball jumps out of the bushes at lighting speed. Before Alexander can react, the little monster latches itself to his face. He let's out an undignified screech. He takes several steps back, trying to shake the little demon off.
He reaches up to grab it, but it moves. It crawls around his body, refusing to jump off. Alexander erratically shakes his arms and moves his legs in all directions to no avail. Then he feels nothing. He holds his breath.
He slowly opens his eye and realises the tint beast is nowhere to be seen. He sighs in relief. It's gone. He turns to leave , he'd rather not be around trees with rabid animals in them. He notices he can't move. Why can't he move?
He looks down and sees his foot lodged in an odd angle, shoved into a small hole near the bushes. In his fright, he hadn't noticed that his foot got caught. He tries to tug it out, but it's shoved into the hole pretty tightly. He kneels down, trying to pull his leg out with the help of his arms. That's when he sees it.
On his arm. It's there. It's still there. That mutated, rabid squirrel hybrid is watching him with it's evil beady eyes. They stare at eachother for a split second. Alexander already knows what comes next. It leaps up to his face once more, but Alexander leans back quickly.
He manages to dodge the feral creature's tiny claws, but in his haste, he doesn't realise that his foot slips out of the hole. His entire body plummets down to the bushes behind him. He accepts his fate. He lands in the middle of the biggest bush in an ungracious manner. He sighs in exasperation once he realises he's stuck once more.
He looks up at the sky, watching the white clouds float by. He doesn't know how long he stays there. Long enough to fall asleep, it would seem.
He wakes from his short nap to the sound of whimpering. He tries not to make any noise. He doesn't want to disturb whatever is outside the bushes. In trying to be quiet, he accidentally shifts his body, making the bushes shake as well. The whimpering stops. He holds his breath and waits.
After a moment, he sees the leaves above him being parted by shaking hands. A face appears above him. A boy. The sun right behind him, creating what seems like a halo of light around his dark curls. Pretty.
Pretty is the first thought that crosses his mind while looking at this boy. He must be an angel sent to save him.
"Are you ok?" The angel asks Alexander is still admiring the angel's face. Once he takes him all in, he frowns.
"Why are you crying?" He asks bluntly. The angel moves away quickly, and Alexander can no longer see his face. He tries to untangle himself again. The angel reappears and helps him out of the bushes, grabbing him by the arm and slowly guiding him to safety.
Once Alexander composes himself, he turns to the angel. He's short, well not short, short, but shorter than him. Not an angel then. A boy.
He looks down at him and smiles. He can tell the boy doesn't trust him when he extends his hand to introduce himself. He watches him warily as he explains everything that had just transpired before he was found lying in the bushes.
After his dramatic, and honest retelling of the squirrel attack, the boy laughs. Alexander watches him in awe. What a lovely laugh. What a lovely smile. He tells him as such, but the boy just laughs again.
Alexander asks why he had cried before, but the boy simply changes the subject. He must not want to talk about it with this random stranger. He could respect that.
Alexander tries to introduce himself again. The boy finally gives him a name. Sejanus. What an interesting name. Sejanus, sejanus, Sejanus. It sounded odd in his mind. A perfect name for him though. A lovely name for a lovely boy.
They shake hands and it feels like a promise. He thought he wouldn't be able to make any friends at this awfully institute. Perhaps he was wrong. After all, the Capitol couldn't be all bad, if it had bought such a nice person a Sejanus to him.
He'd like to be his friend, he thinks as he smiles at him. In the distance, something catches his eye. He looks behind Sejanus for a brief moment. He sees someone watching them. A tall blonde student. He can't see his face clearly.
He looks tense, before Alexander can get a better look, the blonde student turns and walks away quickly. Huh. Strange. He shrugs it off. He's sure it's nothing.
Alexander's sure he has nothing to worry about. He goes back to smiling at Sejanus. How happy he is, to finally be making a real friend.
Surely, nothing could go wrong.
~~~~~
Part 3 done! Let me know what you think. This is from Alexander's POV and how he sees Sejanus and Coryo at the end. He's in for a wild ride with these two.
The next part will be from Coryo's perspective.
Let me know if I should keep making parts from different POV's or if I should just stick to one from now on🥰
Pre-TBOSAS SNOWJANUS AU: (PART 2)
[P.s: This is from Sejanus' POV]
Sejanus walks away from his spot, devastated at what he had just heard. Coryo finds him annoying. He barely tolerates him. Sejanus rubs his burning eyes away. He can't cry. Not here, not now.
He leaves before he can hear what other comments Coryo might add about him. He walks around the campus grounds. Normally, he'd admire the landscape, taking in the view of the University buildings, trees, exotic flowers and lush bushes surrounding them.
He doesn't do that today, or any other day for that matter, he can't bring himself to look up from the ground. Watching as his feet take one step after another. He feels numb. Empty. It goes on for a week.
He avoids going to the same lectures as Coryo, he skips meal time, so he doesn't have to see him in the lunch hall. He even goes out of his way to walk on longer routes to the University, so he doesn't cross paths with him.
He thought Coryo was his friend. His only friend. The only person who understood where he was coming from. As someone born from a district, he already knew about the scrutiny and judgment that he would be subjected to, even at a young age.
But he never expected this from Coryo. Ever since they first met, Sejanus was enamoured with the way the little boy carried himself. He was charming and kind and gentle. He was the perfect boy.
He was so happy when Coryo smiled at him for the first time. Only eight years old, playing in the park. He remembers being scared, not knowing any of the children there. Gripping at his mother's skirt, refusing to let go.
The other kids were nice to him at first. They played with him, and laughed with him. That is, until he told them that he was from district 2. That's when things changed.
They no longer smiled warmly. Instead, they watched him warily. One kid muttered a slur, another backed away, glaring at him. One boy stepped up and shoved him, pushing him to the ground. Sejanus looks up in fright as he hears the boy say, 'My father says that people from the districts are monsters. You are a monster.'
The other kids surround him and agree, a chant starts as they throw twigs and pebbles his way. 'Go away you monster, leave us alone!' They repeat it over and over. Sejanus curls into himself. Crying and afraid, wanting to reach out to his Ma.
After a while, the kids seem to bore themselves. They leave, but not before Sejanus gets one final kick to the stomach. Sejanus closes his eyes, waiting for the pain to subside. Everything hurts.
Then he feels something soft wiping his tears away. Slowly, he opens his bleary eyes, the sun hitting him in the face. He sees the silhouette of whoever is touching him so gently.
He clears the tears from his eyes and lifts his head to get a better view of the mysterious person. Once his eyes focus, he holds his breath. It's another Capitol boy, staring down at him. His hair seems to shine with the light of the sun behind him. Sejanus notices that the boy's hand is still on his face, slowly wiping away any stray tears with a soft handkerchief.
Sejanus gasps and instinctively flinches away, expecting the young boy to attack him at any moment. Instead, the boy pulls his hand back and seems to study him for a moment. He watches Sejanus for a few more moments. He frowns and tilts his head.
Sejanus shivers under his gaze, he feels like he's being dissected. He lowers his gaze to the floor, waiting for the boy to do something. Then, a hand comes into his view. He looks at it, then back up at the boy. The palm of his hand open wide, waiting expectantly for Sejanus to grab on.
Sejanus slowly lifts his hand up, hesitantly placing his hand in the other's. He slowly lifts him up, never taking his eyes off of him, almost as if he was watching a wounded animal. He helps Sejanus stand up. He trembles for a moment and then composes himself.
The boy leans back and asks if he's ok. Sejanus nods. Then he smiles. At him. Not the way the other kids had smiled before. Compared to his smile, they fell short, fake almost. Sejanus tried to smile back, but winces. He realises his entire body feels sore.
The boy, Coriolanus is his name, helps him look for his Ma. He gives him an odd look when he addresses her as such, but Sejanus supposes that the people of the Capitol call their parents by different names. Once they find his Ma, Coriolanus stays at his side while Ma Plinth worries over him. Once she notices him, she thanks him profoundly.
Coriolanus says he doesn't mind. She gives him a bag of gumdrops as a thank you gift. He stares at the bag strangely. Sejanus watches him and giggles. Coriolanus snaps his head to study him instead of the bag of sweets.
Sejanus doesn't remember what they spoke about that day, all he remembers is feeling warm and content. They parted ways shortly after, Sejanus waving as his Ma dragged him away from the park. Coriolanus didn't wave back, he simply watched as they walked away.
As he walked back home with his ma, he couldn't help but smile. He may be bruised and banged up, but perhaps it was worth it to make a friend . A real friend.
Looking back through his memories, Sejanus wipes away a stray tear. It makes sense in a way, that he would somehow interpret their first encounter as the beginning of a long-lasting friendship. It would seem he got it all wrong.
Coryo, no. Not Coryo, not anymore, that was reserved for close friends. Coriolanus didn't see thier first meeting as the building blocks of a friendship, but that of unsatisfied tolerance throughout the following years to come.
How could he have been so blind? He blindly followed Coriolanus around, thinking, believing they were friends. How long had he been whispering about his true feelings to the other students? Where they all in on it? Of course they were. Of course they knew. Mocking him from the shadows as he dumbly followed the light that was Coriolanus Snow.
Sejanus stops walking and catches his breath. He hadn't realised he started hyperventilating. Sejanus tries to calm down, but he can't. A small sob escapes his mouth as he stands near the trees. His hands are shaking. He just wants it to stop.
He hears a rustling sound nearby.He sobers up, instantly alert. He doesn't need some student finding him like this. He'll never live it down. He scans the area around him slowly. He doesn't see anyone. He let's out a shaky breath. Then, he hears another rustle.
He looks to the side quickly. The bushes. The sound is coming from there. He creeps up slowly, reaching the giant bush. He sees it move in an unnatural manner. He lifts his hands and part the leaves away. There, sitting in the bushes, is a boy.
The boy looks up at him in shock. Leaves are stuck in his dark hair. He seems to be in an uncomfortable position. Sejanus can only assume he fell down, into the bushes. What a weird boy. How on earth did he end up here?
Just as Sejanus is going to offer his hand to help the boy up, the other speaks up.
"Why are you crying?" Sejanjus takes a step back. He had nearly forgotten what he was doing there. He quickly turns away and wipes his tears. At least now he can control his breathing. It would seem this boy was a good distraction from his clouded thoughts.
When he turns back around, he finds the boy trying to pull himself out of the bushes. Sejanus sighs and grabs him by the elbow. He slowly guides him out of the shrubbery, making sure he watches his step as he walks.
Once he's finally out, Sejanus notices how tall he is, taller than Coryo- Coriolanus his mind corrects him.
The boy smiles at him brightly. Sejanus is taken aback. He's not used to students smiling at him like that.
"Thanks for helping me out back there, I was a bit stuck before you showed up." The boy says casually.
It takes a few awkward seconds for Sejanus to realise that the boy is waiting for him to answer.
"Oh, it was nothing really. I'm glad you're alright" with that, Sejanus turns to leave, believing the conversation is over.
"You didn't answer my question earlier." The boy says, not in an accusatory tone. He sounded, curious.
"What question?" Sejanus asks
The boy points at his face. How rude.
"You didn't tell me why you were crying. You're pretty far away from any of the main buildings. There isn't anyone around. You must've walked quite the distance to get here. Whatever's bughing you must be really important." he says as he looks at Sejanus.
Sejanus is, for a lack of better terms, genuinely weirded out. Why was this guy still talking to him. Surely he wouldn't want to be associated with a district boy. He doesn't want to sound mean.
"I'm fine. I wasn't before, but I am now. Your bush adventure took my mind off of things." He looks around and notices that the boy is right. He was far away from any of the campus faculties. Instead, all he sees are the trees, the bushes and the grass nearby.
"I was just....lost in thought. I got a little distracted is all. What brings you here, stranger?" Sejanus asks the boy.
The boy perks up and extends his hand excitedly.
"My name is Alexander, my friends call me Alex. Its nice to meet you." He says, almost too excited.
Sejanus doesn't know how to react to so much positive attention headen his way. He looks at the boy's extended hand and then back up at him. Alexander seems to notice Sejanus' reluctance to shake his hand. He drops his hand down and smiles.
"Sorry, I can be a bit much. Before you helped me out of the bushes, I was walking idly, minding my own business, you know, enjoying the view. And then it attacked me!" He shouts out.
Sejanus is surprised. Attacked? Here on school grounds? It sounds improbable. Who on earth would attack him here?
"Who attacked you?" Sejanus asks carefully
"Not who, What!" He replies
"...what?" Sejanus asks doubtfully
Alexander nods excitedly.
"Yes, what! It came out of nowhere! And then it jumped me. I tried to get it off, but then it's claws came at my face so I had to take a step back, you know to defend myself. But then I tripped in a small hole and fell into the bushes. It was still on my face when I went down. If you heard me scream, no you didn't. Anyway , as I was valiantly fighting the creature off....."
Sejanus had to take a step back, and then another. This guy sure talked a lot. And so very passionately and vividly. Each time he finished a sentence he'd take a step closer to Sejanus' face. Sejanus backs away slowly.
Once Alexander stops rambling, Sejanus smiles awkwardly.
"What exactly did this giant creature look like? Do you know what it was?" Perhaps a rabid mutt had escaped from Dr. Gaul's laboratory. If so, Sejanus can't help but feel sorry for Alexander. The Dr's mutts are horrid beasts of her own creation.
Alexander stops for a moment, the smiles triumphantly.
"A squirrel" he says as a matter of factly.
Sejanus gawks at him for a moment, his mouth dropping a little. Did, did he heat that right?
"....You where attacked....by....a squirrel?" He asks
Alexander nods again. Before he can start rambling on about how strong the little rodent was, Sejanus laughed. Soft giggles turn into a full on laugh. The boy smiles as he looks at him oddly. Sejanus can't help it. What a ridiculous story. He can't keep his laughter inside.
"A squirrel jumped out of nowhere, jumped onto your face, made you trip in a hole and managed to get you trapped in a bunch of bushes?" He asks once more, wheezing as he spoke.
Alexander watches him and simply nods. Sejanus let's out a few more laughs. He hasn't laughed this much in so long. He hasn't smiled all week. Once the laughter stops, Alexander clears his throat. Sejanus looks up at him expectantly.
"You uhm..... you have a pretty laugh" he says bluntly. Sejanus let's out one final laugh. This guy sure knows how to joke around.
"I haven't laughed like that in a while, thank you. You should be more careful in the future, make sure you don't anger any other crazy squirrels." Sejanus comments. Alexander agrees.
"Oh! I didn't get your name." Alexander extends his hand out one more time, an almost hopeful look on his face. Sejanus grabs Alexander's hand and shakes it gently.
They smile at each other for what feels like forever.
"Sejanus" Perhaps he can make a 'real' real friend this time. Maybe not. There's only one way to find out. "My name is Sejanus, it's nice to meet you."
~~~~~~
Part 2 done! This is like chapter one, but from Sejanus' POV. Also, I know the flashback took over most of the chapter, but I thought I made sense when I wrote it down.
Let me now what you think🥰🫧❤️

Pre-TBOSAS SNOWJANUS AU:
I can't get this fic promt out of my head:
[P.s: This is all from Coryo's POV]
Coriolanus admits to some of his classmates that he finds Sejanus annoying, clingy, and that he only tolerates him because he pities him for having no friends. Sejanus overhears this conversation and is devastated.
Sejanus decides to give Coriolanus the space he wants. If he doesn't want him around, he won't stick around. He won't be a bother where he's not wanted.
From that day on, Coriolanus starts to notice that Sejanus is nowhere to be found. He doesn't see him when he arrives for his classes, or when it's time to eat in the lunch halls or anywhere on campus.
At first, he thinks that Sejanus is home sick, but when he asks other students, they all confirm that they've seen Sejanus on campus and in Lectures, and walking on school grounds.
Coriolanus finds it hard to believe that he hasn't once crossed paths with Sejanus in the last few days. It doesn't even cross his mind that Sejanus might be avoiding him. That would be ridiculous.
After a full week has passed without seeing a glimpse of Sejanus, Coriolanus starts to get annoyed. He's used to being greeted each morning by Sejanus' big smile, warm brown eyes, and baked goods that his Ma would make him bring for Coriolanus.
He's used to having his ear talked off by the rambling boy as he speaks of everything and nothing. He's used to Sejanus sticking to his side throughout the day, only leaving him when classes are over, and it's time to go home.
Coriolanus likes things to be in order. He likes knowing what will happen, and he has a routine that he likes to follow day to day.
Sejanus, annoying as he is , is a part of Coriolanus' daily routine. Something that he's gotten used to having. He doesn't much appreciate his schedule being rearranged without his knowledge.
Coriolanus snaps one day, and decides to wonder the campus grounds. He's not looking for Sejauns, he tells himself, he's not that desperate. He's just...going for a walk.
He wanders around for what feels like hours. In reality, no more than 20 minutes could have passed by. Honestly, why was he making such an effort? Surely there was a logical explanation as to why Sejanus was nowhere to be found.
Just as he's about to give up and go home, something catches Coriolanus' eye. He turns and sees a familiar mop of brown curls. Sejanus is in sight.
A sigh of relief leaves his body. It's as if a weight has been lifted off his shoulders. He hasn't felt this happy in a while, a cocky smile plasters itself across his face. He had nothing to worry about. Not that he was ever worried to begin with.
As he turns to walk in Sejanus' direction, he stops. There, in the distance, something stands next to Sejanus. No, not something, someone. Another student perhaps?
As he steps closer, he gets a better view of the pair. Sejanus is smiling at this student, a boy, his mind adds. Why is Sejanus smiling at this boy? Coriolanus approaches them slowly, watching them, waiting to see what happens.
This unknown student, this boy, he's taller than Sejanus. He smiles down at him gently. He makes a comment that Coriolanus can't make out, too far away to hear their conversation.
Whatever it is he says gets a reaction from Sejanus. He laughs. Coriolanus freezes. He looks at Sejanus, he watches him laugh. Not an awkward, fake, shy laugh. A real laugh, Sejanus is happy. That student, that boy made him laugh.
Coriolanus' mind can't process what his eyes are seeing. Who is this mysterious boy? Who does he think he is? Making Sejanus laugh at his jokes, making him smile as warmly as he does when he looks at Coriolanus.
Could it be? Had Sejanus made a friend? A real friend? No, that couldn't be. Most students , himself included, tended to look down at Sejanus for being District born. But not him, not that boy.
He seems to genuinely enjoy speaking to Sejanus. Coriolanus just can't wrap his head around it. Before his mind can come up with an excuse as to why they might be together, his eyes snap up.
He watches as the mysterious student lifts his hand up and gently grazes his hand against Sejanus' elbow. Coriolanus' mind goes blank.
What is he doing? What is IT doing? Why was it touching Sejanus? His Sejanus. How dare he. Surely Sejauns would swat his hand away.
But as he watches, Coriolanus sees that Sejanus makes no attempt to remove the creature's claw from his body. He seems perfectly content, as though he is used to such physical intimacy with another person.
What was going on? Why would sejanus allow such a beast to touch him in such a manner? Why wasn't he stepping away? Why does he seem so happy?
It can't be. It can't be. They are not friends. Coriolanus is Sejanus' friend. Sejanus' best friend. Sejanus' only friend. He doesn't need anyone else. Only him. Sejanus is his. He doesn't need that thing's attention when Coriolanus is right there.
This simply won't do. Coriolanus looks at the one last time. They seem to be in their own little bubble of conversation. No, it won't do at all, he turns and walks away. A dark, seething look crosses his normally stoic expression.
He'll just have to remind Sejanus where he belongs, at his side, always. He'll make sure to make it clear to that creature that Sejanus Plinth belonged to one, Coriolanus Snow.
~~~~~~~~
That's done, did you like it? Should I write a PART 2 of this little idea of mine?
I just can't stop thinking about how Coriolanus would react if Sejanus actually made a real friend. Would he be jealous? Possessive? Angry? Who knows.
Let me know what you think🥰❤️
