Legendary | Chapter Ten
Tumblr media
I lay on the sofa that night, staring up at the arched white ceiling above me. I set the blinds down to engulf the home in darkness; due to the three suns darkness didn't come to Namek whatsoever. I had changed into shorts and a vest top, suited to Namek's warm climate. The sweat slowly ran down my forehead as I knew sleep wasn't coming to me easily tonight. I kept thinking about Broly and his behaviour when we got back to the house, it seemed off to me. I tried knocking on the bedroom door a few times before resting my head. Before I closed my eyes to head to sleep, I thought it would be best to try one more time.
I pulled myself up to sit upright, stretching as I let out a yawn. The travelling and festivities were gradually catching up with me and I was in need of a proper rest. After stretching my legs and finally stepping up, I headed to the bedroom door. I lightly knocked it with my knuckles.
"Broly?" I asked quietly as I knocked again, "Broly is everything okay in there?"
Again I was met with no answer. I sighed as I sat my forehead against the door, once again knocking on the door. Whispering, "Please."
Quietly I heard the door click open, no light shined out as Broly had set down the blinds too. The room was covered in darkness, other than a tiny light near the window. The only sound I could hear was a slight whimpering sound coming from the blanketed mound on the bed. I slowly slipped into the room and closed the door behind me. I called out his name one more time before sitting myself down behind him. When I set my hand on the pillow beside him, my hand was met with dampness. I moved myself a little closer and gently ran my hand over his shoulder, "Broly, why are you crying? What's wrong?"
As my hand touched his shoulder again lightly, he flinched a little and turned himself over to face me. I could see the softened details of his face only slightly in the light. His eyes were red and swollen, tears continuing to stain his cheeks. "I'm sorry, Flora."
"You're sorry?" I questioned, moving his blanket away. "Sorry for what?"
"The way I am." He sniffed. "I have nightmares all the time about my past. It's scary."
"You don't have to be upset Broly, what's caused all this?"
"I heard what The Grand Elder said. I wasn't eavesdropping, I-I promise." His voice hitched as he once again tried to wipe his eyes. "I went to walk back in the room and I heard him talking about my father. I stayed outside the door... I didn't mean it, Flora."
After he finished what he had said he started wailing loudly. The sound was a little overwhelming, all I felt I could do was gently pat his back in reassurance. "There, there. I know you didn't mean it."
"I don't want to hurt you." He sobbed, "When I get angry and I don't remember. I don't want to kill you too. Maybe you'd be better off if I went back to Vampa, that way I could stay away from you."
"Broly, you don't have to go anywhere. We'll figure it all out. Those nightmares you have and the way you turn when you're angry, that's not the Broly I know. Your past doesn't define you, imagine if mine did. I wouldn't be here trying to help the people of Namek." I could feel a surge of empathy course through my veins, I shook my head softly as I moved closer to him. I wrapped my arms around him, cuddling his head into my chest as I let him continue to cry it out. I could see him peak up slightly as he continued to listen attentively. "You're here with me now. Don't worry, I can keep myself safe. We'll figure out how you can control your power together."
He nodded as he snuggled his face into me, his tears made my top wet. I squeaked a little as I felt Broly's monstrous arms wrap around me as he got himself comfortable. I lay myself back on the bed as I cautiously found myself playing with his fluffy hair. His breathing still hitched but I could tell he was a lot more calm than he had been. I looked down as his eyes closed over, he hummed softly as my fingers continued to dance amongst his black strands.
"If you want I can head back to the living room to sleep?" I whispered softly. Broly shook his head, gripping my body a little tighter.
"No... comfy..."
~
The next morning I woke up and lay on my side. I let out a yawn and a small stretch, my movement feeling restricted as I looked down. Broly's arms were still wrapped around my body, my back flush against his chest. I smiled to myself, something about the intimacy made me blush a little. I carefully untangled myself from Broly's embrace, trying not to wake him. Slipping out of bed, I tiptoed to the bathroom to freshen up, allowing Broly to continue resting peacefully. As I splashed some water on my face, I couldn't shake off the events of last night from my mind. Broly's vulnerability had surprised me, but it also made me feel closer to him in a way I hadn't anticipated.
After gathering my thoughts, I headed back to the bedroom to find Broly stirring awake. His eyes fluttered open, and he blinked sleepily before his gaze met mine. There was a brief moment of silence before a small, shy smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
"Morning," I greeted softly, returning his smile.
"Morning," he replied, his voice still husky from sleep. He shifted on the bed, sitting up slowly and running a hand through his messy hair.
"How are you feeling?" I asked, concern evident in my voice.
Broly paused for a moment as he had to think about his answer. With a hint of uncertainty in his voice, he finally responded "Better, I think."
I nodded understandingly. "It's okay to feel overwhelmed sometimes. Just know that I'm here for you, okay?"
He gave me a grateful nod, his expression softening. "Thank you, Flora. I... I really appreciate it."
With a reassuring smile, I made my way to the kitchen to prepare breakfast, leaving Broly to gather his thoughts. As I went about cooking, I couldn't help but feel a sense of determination wash over me. I was determined to help Broly overcome his haunting past and I was determined to help him gain control over this "Legendary Super Saiyan" form he had. Maybe I needed more answers before I could even think about helping him, however helping him was proving to be my goal.
I set a pan on the hob, tossing some vegetables in along with some oil and seasoning. Keeping it on a low simmer I toasted and buttered some bread. As I continued to stir the frying vegetables I felt the soft touch of massive hands slip around my waist. I jolted back a little, looking up as my eyes met Broly's. He smiled warmly, his hair was soaked and dripped onto my shoulder. "Smells good."
"Have you just showered?" I asked him, turning around to face him. "You need to dry your hair it'll make a mess."
He nodded quickly, letting go of me to run and grab a towel. I blushed a little to myself as I cracked a couple of eggs in the pan, finishing up what was supposed to be breakfast omelettes with toast. I sat our plates down at the table, taking my seat on the plush cushion at the floor. Broly returned, towel rubbing off his head as he sat down across from me. We made mindless small talk over our breakfast. The tension from last night seemed to have dispersed, replaced with a feeling of tranquility. Broly relaxed where he sat, his shoulders no longer tense with worry. I couldn't help but beam as I saw him clearly enjoying what I made him.
After breakfast we agreed we'd spend the day relaxing before allowing ourselves to begin our rigorous training exercises. A day of rest wasn't something I allowed myself to have often so the thought was a little unusual while the sentiment was nice. We started off with a little walk, getting to know our location better. The lush greenery and crystal-clear lakes providing a soothing backdrop to our long conversation we shared. The longer we strolled, the more I found Broly was able to open up a little more about his father and his past. He was sent to Vampa as a baby, finding out that he could transform into a crazed ape like beast under the moon. That was what led to his father's demise. The creature whose ear he wears around his waist bit off his tail to stop it from happening again. The Saiyan anatomy sounded crazy to me. We sat down by the waters in amongst the grass and flowers. With his left thumb he tugged at the metal collar around his neck, something I had noticed when we first met.
"When I'd get out of control, the way The Grand Elder said I do, father would press a button and the collar would go BZZZZZ." He continued, "It would really hurt. I would always fall over shaking, I'd feel so cold when I'd wake up."
"I'm sorry Broly," I said softly as I listened to him intently. I could feel my heart ache for him. I reached out, gently taking his hand and squeezed it reassuringly. "You're not alone anymore. I'll figure out a way I can help you control your powers. I won't hurt you like he did, I promise."
He glanced at me, the light shining off a wet glimmer in his eyes. "Do you really think you can?"
I firmly nodded in response, "I do. Together we'll find a way. Until then you can count on me for anything. I'll do my best. The emotional support thing is really new to me but I'll surely try my best."
I caught a glimpse of the small smile creeping its way across his lips. For the first time since we met, I saw hope shine in his eyes. "Thank you Flora. I... I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Hey." I said, gazing back at him with the same sincerity. "Just know you don't have to deal with this all on your own anymore. We're in this together. Like it or not, you're stuck with me now."
The rest of our night was spent back at the house. We rested up on the sofa and watched some films that were broadcast on a little screen. Broly suspected they were from Earth. Tales of adventure and sacrifice, stories of heartache and choices, it was all very investing. Broly kept his arm around me as I tiredly rested my head against his chest. By the end of the night I recalled being carried to bed in his arms, tucked in and wrapped up similarly to how I had done it with him the night before.
There was a feeling that felt new and terrifying inside me, something I hadn't realised I could even feel. The affection from him made me feel warm and I was eager to reciprocate it.

Legendary | Chapter Nine
Tumblr media
The evening's festivities ended on a positive note. Eventually, the council began to leave the dining room and return to their homes. Broly stood up from the table, swaying gently from the copious amounts of wine he had drunk. Awkwardly, he pointed to the bathroom to communicate he would be back soon, giving The Grand Elder and me some time to discuss the topics. I stayed seated at the table, hands clasped as I looked up at him. "You wanted to discuss something with me?"
"Your name is Flora? Am I correct?"
"Yes, sir," I responded. "My comrade Broly chose it for me."
He nodded with a smile, slowly rising from his chair at the table. He beckoned me to do the same, so I quickly rose to my feet. "Tell me, my dear, you were a nameless warrior, weren't you? Not one on the side of good until now?"
I nodded softly in agreement, "Yes, sir. Unfortunately, I was, until now, part of the Frieza Force. We would wipe out planets and hunt for remaining Saiyans."
The Grand Elder calmly stepped around the dining room, leading me along to a wall that was coated in carvings. He slowly ran his gigantic hands across them, smirking as he chuckled. He stopped by one just behind where his chair sat, requesting I come forward. "Could you tell me what you see in this carving?"
I bounced over, crouching in front of him as I squinted my eyes. I tried to make sense of what I could see, but as I wrapped my head around it further, I was taken aback. The carving depicted two figures. One was taller than the other. They stood in a victorious pose, the taller one having his foot on a body on the ground. The more you looked at it, the more it made sense. The taller figure was masculine and covered in marks, fluffy hair shaded in with a muscular physique. The smaller of the two was a woman, with shoulder-length black hair, her arm raised high. "That's... that's Broly and me!"
"Yes, my dear," The Grand Elder continued. I stepped back in shock, shaking my head as my hand covered my mouth. "Your arrival was foretold many years ago in a prophecy. You would both protect Namek from the oncoming evil."
I looked up at him as I nodded, "That's why you reached out to us..."
"I could sense your appearance was imminent, so I had to act with haste. The distress signal was a risky move. I'm glad that we timed it just right."
He smiled softly at me as I traced my fingers over the marks on the wall. I was in utter disbelief. I couldn't believe that the Namekians saw us arriving to help for so long. It felt like I had big shoes to fill and a lot of people I couldn't let down. The conversation continued, circling questions that The Grand Elder was keen to ask.
"You don't remember much about your past, do you?"
I squinted as my mouth sat open, trying to physically think, "Uh... I wouldn't say so. All I remember really was waking up one day on a ship on a cold table, and the next day I was thrown in a gym."
"You will find out in due course what brought you to that ship, who brought you there, how long you actually were there for... in due time." He shuffled his feet as he returned to his chair at the head of the dining table. "However, I will inform you that you have family out in our universe."
"I do? A family?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, returning to my chair too.
"Yes. You have an older brother. He's an inhabitant of Planet Earth now."
"Ear...th. I haven't heard of that one."
"It's 48 light-years from here. I predict it would take three years for you to fly from here in the spacecraft you brought here. The engine is better than most other crafts we have seen, although our knowledge may be lacking. If you were to go out there and find him, you may be able to rediscover who you once were."
I nodded. I had family out there? A family I couldn't even remember? The more the conversation went on, the more I began to feel uneasy about my own memories. I couldn't even picture a single family member's face. I couldn't remember. Of course, that wasn't everything he wanted to talk about. The conversation went on much longer to the point I started to get concerned as to where Broly had disappeared to. Maybe in his intoxicated state, he was struggling to find his way back.
"Do you know why Frieza was so afraid of the Saiyans, Flora?"
"I can't say I do. I had it drilled in my head they were evil until I met Broly."
The Grand Elder leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a hushed tone as if sharing a forbidden secret. "The Saiyans were a warrior race, feared across the galaxies for their prowess in battle. But what Frieza feared most wasn't just their strength... it was their potential."
I furrowed my brows, puzzled. "Their potential?"
"Yes," he affirmed, his ancient eyes gleaming with a mixture of wisdom and sorrow. "The Saiyans possessed an ability that Frieza could never control or suppress entirely: the power of transformation. While they could harness their anger and transform into incredible forms, each more formidable than the last, one form surpassed them all. The fabled Super Saiyan."
My breath caught in my throat. "Super Saiyan..."
The Grand Elder nodded gravely. "Yes, a being of immense power, capable of rivalling even the most tyrannical of overlords. Frieza knew that if a Saiyan were ever to achieve this form, his reign of terror would be over. And so, he exterminated their race, or so he thought."
I felt a shiver run down my spine. The weight of the revelation settled heavily upon me. "And Broly... he's a Saiyan. Could he...?"
"It's possible," the Grand Elder admitted. "Though rare, there have been Saiyans who have achieved the legendary transformation. Broly's potential is vast, perhaps greater than even he realizes. But whether he can harness that power for good or succumb to its destructive nature... that remains to be seen."
As the gravity of the situation sank in, I found myself torn between hope and fear. Broly, my comrade, my friend... could he be the key to unlocking a power capable of protecting not just Namek, but the entire universe? He didn't have a bad bone in his body, at least when he has control of it.
"When Broly gets angry he gets so powerful. He emits this energy that would light up the world if it could, it's a bright green aura. He seems to lose all focus on himself. He goes absolutely berserk. What do you think of that, Grand Elder?"
The Grand Elder listened intently, his expression grave yet contemplative. "Flora, what you describe is the hallmark of a Saiyan on the brink of transformation. Broly's power, his uncontrollable rage... it all aligns with the ancient legends of the Super Saiyan."
"But what triggers it?" I asked, concern lacing my voice. "What sets off his transformation?"
The Grand Elder's gaze shifted back to me, his eyes filled with a sadness that seemed to stretch across aeons. "Broly's power is intertwined with a tragic past," he began, his voice heavy with sorrow. "He is the Legendary Super Saiyan, a warrior of unparalleled strength. But his power comes at a great cost."
My heart clenched at his words, a sense of dread settling over me. "What do you mean?"
The Grand Elder took a deep breath as if steeling himself for what he was about to reveal. "Broly's transformation is fueled by the pain and anger he carries within him. It stems from a childhood of torment and betrayal, inflicted upon him by none other than his own father, Paragus."
A gasp escaped my lips as the pieces began to fall into place. Broly's haunted expression, his violent outbursts... it all made sense now. "His father... he did this to him?"
"Paragus saw Broly not as a son, but as a weapon. He exploited his power, manipulated him, and subjected him to unspeakable cruelty in the name of his own ambitions. Broly's rage, his uncontrollable fury... it's a manifestation of the trauma he endured at the hands of his own flesh and blood." The Grand Elder nodded solemnly. "That may be why when Broly was able to reach this form, his father's blood was on his hands. You never know though, he may turn on you next if he can鈥檛 get it under control."
I stared at the Grand Elder, my mind reeling with the weight of his words. The revelation of Broly's past cast a dark shadow over my thoughts, illuminating the depths of his suffering and the true extent of his inner turmoil. My heart ached for him, for the pain he had endured and the scars he carried.
"But... can he ever find peace?" I whispered, my voice barely audible in the somber air of the dining room.
The Grand Elder's gaze softened, filled with a profound compassion that seemed to transcend the boundaries of time itself. "Peace is not easily attained, Flora. It is a journey, a path that must be walked with courage and determination. But I believe that with the support of those who care for him, Broly can find solace amid his turmoil."
I nodded, the weight of his words sinking into my soul. Broly, my friend, my comrade... he deserved a chance at redemption and to rise above the darkness that had engulfed his past. And I would stand by his side, unwavering in my commitment to help him find the peace he so desperately sought.
"Thank you, Grand Elder," I said softly, gratitude swelling. "Thank you for your wisdom and guidance, and of course, the wonderful food. I best go find Broly; we should head back to the house for some rest."
The Grand Elder smiled warmly, his ancient eyes twinkling with a gentle light. "It is my honor to offer whatever assistance I can, Flora. Remember, you and Broly are not alone in this journey. The people of Namek stand with you, united in our determination to forge a future of hope and redemption."
With those words echoing in my heart, I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, we would face them together. For Broly, for Namek, and for the countless lives that depended on our strength and courage. Rushing out of the dining room, I found Broly sitting at the top of the grand staircase we had climbed when we arrived. I smiled, settling my hand on his shoulder. In response, he shuffled away. I crouched beside him, looking as he kept his chin against his knees and softly swayed.
"You ready to head home?" I asked softly.
"I feel dizzy," he hiccuped, slowly rising to his feet. I reached out to take his hand again, but again he swiped me away.
"Can't I help you?" I asked.
"No, I can manage," he responded sharply.
Broly's silence on the walk home wasn't out of the ordinary, however, as I kept an eye on him, I could see his face screw up. He started picking up his pace, walking faster than I was. Concerned, I quickened my pace to catch up with Broly, who seemed to be struggling more than usual. His brows furrowed in discomfort, and his steps became unsteady.
"Broly, are you okay?" I asked, reaching out to steady him when I had caught up.
He shrugged off my touch, his breaths coming in ragged gasps. "I'm fine," he muttered, though the strain in his voice betrayed his words.
Something wasn't right. A palpable sense of distress replaced Broly's usual stoic demeanour. I scanned our surroundings, searching for any sign of danger, but the path home appeared tranquil in the moonlit night. He stayed this way the entire walk back; I looked up as he uttered the phrase for the door, staying close to his heels as we went inside together. The sound of a door slamming shut jolted me onto the sofa in the living room as I tried to slip off my shoes.
What was wrong with him?

Legendary | Chapter Eight
Tumblr media
Guiding us through the beautiful fields, The Grand Elder had two towering Namekian guards lead us to where we'd stay for the next while. Despite being quite close to The Grand Elder's home, we were secluded from the villages. With their direction, we were led to a white, domed, capsule-shaped house with a small garden outside. It was decorated with blue-leaved trees and various rock decorations dotted around in different shapes and sizes. The path in the garden led the way to an arched doorframe that welcomed the pair of us. I smiled to myself, the building looked quaint. After we took in the outside of the house, the guards gave us a password to use in Namekian that would allow the door to open for us and let us in and out. The guards bowed, their given instructions completed.
"The Grand Elder will expect you both at his home for a meal in a few hours. Please take this time to settle in and make yourselves at home."
We headed inside together, Broly gasping as he took in the inside. I was struck by its simple yet elegant decor and design. We decided to take a small tour of the house, noticing how strikingly spotless it was - almost as if it had never been lived in before. Walls were light grey, carpets were cream, and earthy-toned furnishings accented the room. The interior was bathed in a soft, ambient light that warmed the entire space. The bathroom was compact yet luxurious, the fixtures gleamed and the shelves were full of soft, fluffy towels. The spacious shower promised relaxation after our long journey and would prove to be perfect after any training we'd both endure on Namek.聽
The bedroom was equally as gorgeous, proving to be a tranquil retreat. In the corner of the room was a large, comfortable bed adorned with fresh white linen and plump pillows. The small balcony had breathtaking views over the green and blue surroundings. Taking a step onto it, I inhaled the fresh air as I admired the gardens below.
Finally, the main living room had a cosy seating arrangement. Plush cushions arranged around a low coffee table for dining and a small couch was in the corner, decorated with lovely woven blankets featuring traditional Namekian designs. I settled back on one of the spaces on the couch, swinging my feet up before letting out a relaxed sigh. Having been hosted by The Grand Elder and his people, I felt so grateful. I felt an undeniable peace within these walls, despite the looming danger we anticipated.
Broly paced in the living space in front of me, his brows furrowed with his finger on his lip as he was clearly deep in thought, "Do you think the Grand Elder knows why we're here? Do you think he saw who's going to attack Namek?"
I shrugged, I had only considered the possibility briefly. "It's hard to say in all honesty. If he sent that distress signal, I'd assume he must have an idea of what's coming."
Broly nodded, his expression serious, "We need to be prepared for anything. I know you probably wouldn't mind but I'd love it if you could help train me. You're strong and smart. I'd love to learn how to be more of a soldier."
I observed his determination, I was admittedly impressed as his request elected his sincere desire to grow stronger and keep his strength more under control. His openness to learn from me felt like a testament to his trust. It was touching. With a simple nod, I acknowledged his request. I understood how important it is to hone your skills, especially when we are facing potential danger together.
"I'd be honoured to help you train, Broly," I replied, meeting his gaze with a reassuring smile. "We'll start with the basics and work our way up. Your rage is a huge factor. It terrifies even me. You're so soft and gentle with me but when you're angry you go crazy. I can try and help with that. Remember, strength isn't just physical. It's about strategy. adaptability and resilience too. I'll focus on all aspects to ensure you're prepared."
Broly's expression softened into a grateful smile, a sense of relief clear in his eyes. "Thank you, Flora. I know I have lots to learn, but with your guidance, I believe I can become a better protector and a better warrior."
We started off discussing training schedules and techniques, and the closeness between us was more and more evident. Despite how uncertain the future head, we found solace in a shared determination. We have to protect Namek and it's people. Our discussions went on for hours. We planned to train in Namek's fields for an outdoor training space. They stretched for miles are weren't close to the villages so it was safe just in case Broly went a little out of control again.
As one of Namek's suns began to dip under the horizon, a warm orange glow was briefly cast over the landscape. We both knew it was time to head to The Grand Elder's home for dinner. Once we had showered we both got ready, changing into the garments the Namekians had provided us. Broly dressed in a black dress shirt and pants and I was given a white dress with a black corseted waist. I had never worn a dress before. Looking at myself in the mirror, I smiled gently. I felt pretty. I helped Broly button up his shirt, looking up at him as I made sure he looked presentable. It was hard for him to leave Ba's ear behind, it was going to be cleaned while we were out. I stepped outside, looking up to Broly to catch a relaxed level of anticipation behind his eyes.聽
"I've never been to something like this before," he trailed as he shuffled his feet in the fluffy grass below.
"Neither have I," I replied, approaching him slowly.
Together, we walked along a short path and up the hill that led to The Grand Elder's home. The air was filled with a gentle hum from the Namekian wildlife and the soft rustle of leaves in the evening breeze. The towering trees cast long shadows over the path as we quickly approached the tall standing stone building. We were greeted by the two warriors who had shown us to the home, ushering us inside. I looked around in amazement as the entrance was decorated with soft lighting and intricate carvings, Namek's rich history was all documented through these impressive designs immortalised in the stone. As we followed them both up some stairs we were led inside the grand dining room. Broly stayed close by my side as we were greeted by the head of the long, polished, wooden dining table that was set before us, The Grand Elder. The table was decorated beautifully with small statues and candles, each seat had it's own fine china and cutlery arrangement. As always, I felt calm,
"Welcome, my wonderful guests," The Grand Elder said, his deep voice echoing in the sheer size of the dining room. "Please, take your seats at each side of me. Dinner will be served shortly."
As we settled into our chairs, the table would gradually fill up with more guests from the Namekian council who were invited along with us. The chatter was loud as gradually the table was laid out with plenty of freshly cooked dishes. Plates were piled high with native fruits and vegetables, steaming bowls of fragrant soups and platters of seasoned dishes added more colour to the room. Wine sourced from local vineyards was poured into everyone's glasses, everyone clinking glasses as the festivities continued. Broly took a sip, pursing his lips and flaring his nostrils upon his first taste.聽
Throughout the meal I found that the conversation between The Grand Elder and I. Broly listened along, nodding as he filled his mouth with food and continued sipping from his glass. The Grand Elder was incredibly interested in the stories of how Broly and I crossed paths, our fight with Frieza's men and our brief journey through the stars before receiving his signal. When given the chance, Broly touched on his story too. He shared about his banishment to Vampa with his father, and the years he spent in solitude clearly reflected on him.
"May I ask my young boy, do you know what happened to your father?" The Grand Elder questioned. Sighing, Broly clenched his fork tightly as he looked down at his plate.
"I don't know," he responded. "One minute he was there, the next he wasn't."
The Grand Elder nodded, resting a hand on Broly's firm shoulder. I looked on, contemplating the mystery. I hoped it was something we would find out the answer to along our journey, for his sake more than anyone else's. He cleared his throat before issuing a response, "Just know your father would be proud of the strong man you are today."
He looked to me next, the discussion moving on. He placed a firm hand on my shoulder too. "My army is built of the finest kinds of warriors. Some of them exhibit unfathomable strength to protect our people."
His head turned to Broly, "But where would we be if we didn't also have guardians to overlook the planet's wellbeing?"
"My Namekian army is formed of warriors and guardians. The two roles cannot work in harmony without trust and understanding. I don't think I need to educate you both on that."
I looked across the table to see Broly smiling back over to me, I couldn't help but return it. I felt like an idiot for how wide my lips held my grin. His cheeks were warmed with a slight blush as he took another swig from his wine glass. The Grand Elder leaned towards me next, his lips near enough to touch my ear as he made a simple request.
"When the meal is over, would you mind staying behind? We have much to discuss."

Legendary | Chapter Seven
Tumblr media
The ship transcended towards the bright green planet of Namek. Broly and I peered out of the ship's viewport to marvel at the serene beauty the planet below had to offer. We spotted fields, lovely small villages and civilisations. We could see Namekian children and adults living in harmony as they frolicked in the fields or tended to their growing crops. We also spotted various training grounds, seeing strong warriors train with weapons and even their brute strength. Broly let out an impressed chuckle, taking in what he could see from above. The ship gradually touched down on some uninhabited grassy plains, I felt a wave of tranquillity sweep over me as I quickly undid my seatbelt. Broly followed my lead and undid his too, both of us heading straight for the door in our casual attire. My mind raced with wonder. The mystery of the distress signal was engulfing my mind. What could the problem be on such a peaceful planet? Who could have summoned us both here?
Broly stayed close to my side as we hopped off the ship together and onto the rich soil, I quickly looked around the terrain and took everything in that I could see. "Three suns. Isn't that different, it must never get dark here Broly."
There was no response to what I had said. I turned around slowly to catch his reaction, feeling a rush at what I could see. I could see Broly breathing heavily, his eyes darting around frantically as he started to back himself towards the ship. I could sense he was uneasy so I rushed to him. He sat back on the grass, looking up at the lime-coloured sky momentarily as I crouched down to his level. "Hey, it's okay! Just a little bit of a culture shock, you'll be fine."
I looked at him reassuringly, catching a glimmer in his eye as I sat my hand on his shoulder. He flinched a little at my touch, seeming a little unsure as I allowed myself to sit down at his side. he hummed to himself, a way to settle his nerves. I whispered to him gently, "I've never been on this planet either,"
I noticed a smile creep across his lips as he looked across at me. A question on his mind, "Do you ever feel like this? When you visit a new planet?"
"Not really," I confessed honestly, keeping my gaze fixed on his. "I don't even think about it. Maybe it's the soldier in me still in there. I can see it's a little too much for you. I promise it'll be okay once we settle your nerves."
"Yeah," he replies with a nod of the head. "I think I was on Vampa from when I was a kid, it's all I can remember. I don't remember what it was like back home. It's hard. I would've stayed on Vampa if you hadn't told me to run."
I nodded with sympathy, understanding how heavy his words were. "I understand. I don't remember anything before the Frieza Force. I'd love to remember where home was. You aren't alone. You have me now Broly, okay?"
I felt his tense shoulders relax under my grip as he took in everything I had said. He smiled a little wider, his face lit up as it graced his features, "Thank you, Flora, I'm thankful I have you."
As we wrapped up our heartfelt moment I remembered the purpose of our appearance on Namek had slipped my mind for just a few moments. I kept my hand on his shoulder, the feeling of familiarity reappeared with him like it did every now and then over the past several days. Every time I looked at him, I was overcome by a feeling I had never felt before. It made me feel uncomfortably warm and fuzzy inside. I... cared about this man? I cared about his feelings. I was putting my own life on the line right now to keep him safe. It was a strange feeling but set out to prove my development.
"Welcome travellers," a deep voice suddenly resonated from behind us. I jumped a little as I was caught off guard, clutching Broly's arm tighter as my head snapped around. My eyes widened as they were set on an incredibly large Namekian figure. His stature towered over Broly and I, his body draped in beautiful traditional fabric. His age was reflected in the wrinkly, wide lines etched across his dark green face. He looked like a leader, based on the congregation of followers that stood behind him with welcoming smiles. This must be the planet's Grand Elder, the highest-serving authority figure the planet has to offer. His voice echoed that of wisdom and leadership. Broly and I leapt to our feet to bow before him as a sign of respect, he wasted no time to introduce himself. "I am Grand Elder Guru, it is an honour to welcome you to our humble planet of Namek."
Broly and I exchanged glances, surprised by the Grand Elder's sudden appearance. We greeted him respectfully as we slowly inclined our heads, "Grand Elder Guru, the pleasure is ours. We received a distress signal on our ship when we were nearby. Could I ask if everything is alright?"
The Grand Elder's expression grew sombre as he regarded us both, "I'm afraid not, young one. The distress signal did originate from me after a meeting with my council. I have foreseen a great danger looming over Namek. Visions of my warriors being easily disposed of, villages being burned, the planet at great risk."
Broly's eyes widened, and his muscles tensed at the mention of danger. He spoke up with concern in his tone, "What kind of danger, Grand Elder?"
"A threat from beyond the stars," The Grand Elder's response was explained gravely. "Dark forces seek to exploit our planet's Dragon Balls for nefarious purposes. I fear an attack is imminent."聽
I felt a shiver race down my spine as I listened to his words, trying to process the severity of the situation. The Dragon Balls were divine objects that carried an immense power, something of a tempting target for those with evil intentions. I was surprised to hear that they existed and that Namek was their home. I had heard whispers of their existence amongst the soldiers on Frieza's ship. Frieza was one of those who sought after them. Many soldiers discussed double-crossing him, I would never see them again after that. They could grant any wish the user's heart desired. I remember hearing people who dreamt of using them for eternal life, bringing loved ones back from the dead and even the wishes of millions of Zeni, making them rich beyond their wildest dreams. "I thought the Dragon Balls were an old wives tale, just a story?"
He shook his head slowly at my question, "Far from it. There are seven scattered throughout our land. We cannot allow them to fall into the wrong hands."
I nodded reassuringly to myself, a burning determination took over my brain as I started to assess the situation and think it through. There was a moment of silence as I attempted to weigh up the pros and cons. Was this really worth the risk? If Namek's entire army could be wiped out according to the vision we were dealing with an unfathomable enemy. Would we be rewarded for such a job? Before I could utter another word, Broly stepped forward in my place and nodded. "We would be happy to help, Grand Elder. We'll do everything in our power to protect your planet and your people."
The Grand Elder nodded to Broly, turning to face you next. You were touched by Broly's strive to help. "Your resolve is admirable young ones. You will both be welcomed as allies of Namek. Come, we shall provide you with a place to stay while we prepare for the impending threat."
With my newfound sense of purpose, Broly and I followed Grand Elder Guru, knowing that the fate of Namek would rest on our shoulders. We walked alongside each other, I couldn't help but feel grateful that he was the one joining me in this battle that we would come to face. Together, we would tackle whatever evil came our way, and both of us were equally prepared to do whatever it took to protect Namek and its people.聽
