Latest take on pedalboard. I would document what we’re seeing here, except that I know for sure it’ll be changing again after the next show and another run through the pedal bin. 😀 The Super Six in particular is in my crosshairs at the moment - sounds fine, but not uniquely different from tones achieved via the adjacent pedals. Now … one pedal that is here to stay for absolute certainty is the @fender “The Bends” compressor. *Loving* that one so far … actually sounds far better than certain other compressors multiple times its price that shall remain unnamed. Anyway, if I drop the Super Six, wouldn’t mind popping on more of a just-for-fun time-based noisemaker of some type. Any suggestions as to what I should put in its place? (Requirement: must be something with a standard or mini enclosure - I’m pretty happy with the layout and not looking to change that.) Multi-Aerodyne Office Invasion continues. My buddy, Michael, brought in his Chocolate Burst Aerodyne Special Strat SSS so we could compare with my Dolphin Gray HSS. The tremolo arm tip on Mike’s guitar is not the correct one for this guitar and for this reason alone, I was tempted to declare mine the victor of our friendly competition. This particular guitar was the first instrument ordered through Fender Mod Shop back in mid 2016. Honest truth is that the array of options available to choose from was not near as rich as that that we enjoy in present-day Mod Shop - but it made for a nice and distinctive guit, regardless. Blast from the past. Played this guitar a bunch in the late ‘90s, pre Fender career. Had developed a fascination with Leo Fender’s creations at that point and was devoting a fair amount of daily effort to tracking down rarities and oddities from the later phases of his career. His later-phase inventions were still largely undiscovered at that point, so thankfully it was a financially viable pursuit even on a grad student’s salary. (Not so true anymore, these days!) Anyway … this 1981 G-200 certainly qualifies on the rarity/oddity front - a Leo Fender era guitar with a 24 3/4 inch scale length and dual humbuckers! Unadorned workhorse. Pickups / wiring / cloud control plate all designed by Mr. Fender. Neck and body were designed by George Fullerton. A mere 209 built in all. Long story short: the thing is actually still a hoot to play, and livened up nicely yesterday with a fresh setup. The fellers find it funny that I bring the Candy Tangerine Tele to band practices and gigs pretty consistently, despite clearly having — let’s say a few (*cough*) — alternate instruments to choose from. Be careful what you wish for, gentlemen. Enter the 2018 “Salvage” Meteora: returned for what appeared to potentially be a small crack in the neck heel, and sat idle for a bit, there.
