it's her only book thus far but again i did find it to be a good read and i hope you enjoy it too.
Oh wonderful, thank you so very much for the followup!! Sorry about that before, I tried googling the book and was met with sooo many things about audiobooks and i was like uh oh!

there is a book titled "Listen" which is a bit heavy (csa mention, suicidal thoughts, a religious comeback scene, etc.) but i have read it and have feelings about the concept of a DID interpretation with it. would love to see your thoughts!
Unfortunately I might need a lead on who the author might be to review this one, but it sounds pretty good from your interpretation!
If anybun might know who the author is, feel free to reply to the post or send another ask!

Ok, I feel kinda confident in sharing it officially.
So, I started working on a website a while ago that is meant to be a compartmentalised journalling service. The goal is to increase communication between alters in a system.
The main feature is how each alter gets their own space to write, and then there's a "Communal Journal" that's open to everyone in the system to use. Users can use it as a bulletin board, as a diary that everyone contributes to, whatever suits you and your system. Lighthouse also supports multiple systems for one user.
There's also pages to log about your inner world, post system rules/internal boundaries, and any wishes or goals alters may want to achieve. You can even set what terms are used in place of "alter" and "system".
At some point, there will also be interactive worksheets that are usually used for DID or C-PTSD to also use if one so chooses.
My system leaves updates on @lighthouse-app (also posted on the info section)! But feel free to send an ask either there or here if you need help or have a question!
*Lighthouse was not developed by a medical professional, and is not intended to be a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your mental health professional or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding your condition.
Also-- We do not want to gatekeep who can and cannot use this. If this method of journalling is effective for you, than by all means use it! There will be no public sharing of profiles, alters, or messaging between users, so everything is private.

I want to do reviews again, but the way I’d started doing reviews has gotten really bulky and exhausting to write. I think I’m gonna work on not sharing the entire story and just focus on talking about how the DID is portrayed as best I can
Idk, I really want to get back into this blog again, it filled me with a sense of purpose when I was doing it more, and I love seeing people find something that speaks to them :)
On that note, does anybun want me to get into any books or things? My partner’s willing to play games for me too. Any media is good, I just want to write again

DID Short Films
Something I really enjoy is watching short films about DID :) it's always intriguing to see what sort of representation can be showed in a few short minutes, and just how much care and attention to detail is put into it.
I don't have the energy to do a full review of each, but here's a lil list of my favorite short DID films, along with some trigger warnings!
___________
Petals of a Rose
Triggers to watch out for:
a non-explicit incestuous childhood sexual abuse flashback (there's a safe version to watch with this part cut out in the same link!)
a safe and gentle non-explicit sex scene
dissociating and switching during sex
spiraling, hitting self, friction between parts
over-crowded dialogue
Things I love about this short:
We get multiple stellar scenes of what it can feel like to have DID - like being overwhelmed in the grocery store, talking yourself through the steps of it all. I really related to a lot of this
A good representation of how both positive and negative triggers can cause switches
communication between parts!
the implication of there being more parts yet to be found and how that's just kind of an accepted reality? I don't know if thats relatable for anyone else, but it really is for me
A LOVING AND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP :DDD a partner who loves and supports and listens even if he doesn't fully understands, but clearly wants to. The amount of relief I felt when the partner STAYED with her after experiencing triggers during sex!!
The reiterations at the end that Now Time Is Safe and also, We Deserve to be Loved, and also, Each and every part is appreciated and loved
________________
Alter
youtube
Triggers to watch out for:
mild friction between parts
time loss + confusion
Things I love about this short:
The actress who portrayed the parts did a really stunning job with expressing complicated emotions surrounding time loss and the acceptance of a new part showing up
portraying a well-established system with functional multiplicity!
the use of color to portray parts is something I always remember about this one! I love that each part represents a color! I love that you can see all those colors throughout the home and in the outfits!! I love the rainbow-striped shirt she wore in the end with all the alters' colors + extra space, as if to signify that they're ready to accept more parts!!! aaaa!!! Such a great aesthetic to this film
I was SO pleased there really isnt anything triggering about this film. It's important to indicate that trauma creates the disorder, but it's SO nice when we get a bit of a break from the Horrors
supportive therapist :D
_____________
Alters and Me
youtube
Triggers to watch out for:
Mentions of trauma/abuse (very general + vague)
use of Alcohol to cope
self harm, visible scars
yelling/crying
Things I love about this short:
I like that this one's more like a general overview of the alters and how our main character came to understand and accept her DID
nonhuman alter representation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (a doggo)
The alter who struggles with alcoholic coping and self harm has a realistic reformation arc and turns out to be a cherished caretaker!!
Overall this one's pretty short, but very down to earth and realistic without being too triggering. I liked it a lot!
_______________________
I'm sure there are others that are good too, but that's my list for now! I tried to choose ones that didn't lean too far into horror trope editing or twists so they're safe for anyone to watch :) I might add to this sometime in the future if I see more
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy! Feel free to let me know your thoughts or share some of your favorites with me, you know I'm always curious to hear about this stuff

thank you so much for rbing that lighthouse post!!!! ive only been using it for a few hours but i think itll be perfect for our system :D
Of course! I’m really glad its been so helpful!! I started using it a few weeks ago and honestly it was an instantaneous hit with my system. Theres so much you can or dont have to put in, theres the huge emphasis on journalling and communicating, and its all extremely easy to use and completely PRIVATE!!
THERES SO MUCH GOOD I CAN SAY ABOUT LIGHTHOUSE AAAA
I’m so glad people are seeing it!! I’m going to do a proper review at some point because I love this site so much
If you haven’t tried it out like anon, please do! Its a game changer!!
(And if anyone can, please send the creator a tip for their hard work on such a great site: https://ko-fi.com/lighthouse_system )

for the ask game: 4. and 6. :D
Thank you Anon, it’s Hail
4. What sort of aesthetics do you draw to?
Snow and ice generally, lots of soft blue and whites. Depending on which part of my subsystem is around, we draw to either visibly warmer or colder temperatures.
My nickname from Chime’s system tends to be ‘sleet hail’ or apparently ‘mister slushy’ because I’m not the most solid of the three, and I tend to draw to images with more black and white rather than just white or light blue
6. What sort of emotions do you feel mostly when you’re out?
I don’t believe tired is an emotion, sadly. The same sense of curiosity and icy disconnect that the other Hails have, but with an anxious edge, if I’m honest

regained control of my phone
also, does anyone have recommendations for games that include characters with or elements representing dissociative identity disorder?
Would like to help a friend with some reviews.
Doesn't matter if the portrayals are positive/accurate or negative/inaccurate. it's all part of the review process.

Hi! Watching the live-adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho reminded me that there's DID representation in a later arc. Not the best rep out there (he's a villain), but still a lot more interesting than what Hollywood usually does.
I havent seen this, but it sounds really interesting :) I try to stray away from villains with DID a little bit on principle, but its always neat to see what kind of characterization they get

I've been reading a story on and off called "Love Me Whole" by Nicky James. I haven't gotten too far in it, but so far it has taken a lot of care to be respectful, and even explicitly states it will not go in-depth on very triggering topics. I wanted to see if you had a take on it?
Oh I’ve seen that one pop up in my searches before!! It looks really good, I’d love to read it :) I havent read it yet, so I don’t have a take on it, but if I do I’ll def let yall know 💛

Do you review games? The main character of Pocket Mirror canonically has DID, and she meets other characters in the game that represent different facets of her identity. It's a horror game, so I'm not sure if it's your cup of tea, but it would be super interesting to see you review it
I do not because games are a lot less accessible to me, but this sounds really interesting! Maybe others here would like to share :)
