the funniest dynamc between my boyfriend and i is the chef/baker divide runs so deep. experimentally my boyfriend is a genius with figuring out what flavor profiles will not just taste good together but also will be enjoyed by the specific audience he is cooking for. a recipe is not a guidebook so much as a suggestion and he will frankenstein ideas together to get exactly what he wants to happen. he also didnt know that sugar will not work properly if you dont mix it with the wet ingredients in banana bread and when i asked 'why didnt you do it in the order of the recipe' he said 'i didnt really think it mattered'. autistically i exploded his head in my mind

Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1

The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.

So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.

So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.

Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.

And the probe is working again.

From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.

there's a part of me that wants to publish a whole meta thing alongside the tamerlane fic i'm working on specifically because it's very long and written with the intent to be published as one chapter (i'm at 15k right now and am just over half way through my timeline, for context).

i have a lot of thoughts and reasoning behind a lot of my decisions within the fic, and a running list of little easter eggs, and i think it'd actually add to the reading experience to have the meta alongside it.

who knows, it might happen, it might not. this fic will eventually go up though. i swear it will be finished someday.

#i have colours i like and colours i dislike but favourite is too strong. i don't particularly have strong preference between colours i like? #context matters too. like in interior design and clothing i have different preferences #i wouldn't paint a wall black but i almost exclusively wear it. i don't wear sunflower yellow but i like how my blanket brightens my room
