BAD NEWSSSS.

hi everyone!

i have some bad news!

so my external SSD containing all of my photoshop files just got completely wiped. i'm trying to recover the files, hopefully i can. i will be able to retrieve the assets from my etsy and kofi purchases as well as anything i previously kept on my laptop, but anything that i've made from scratch since getting my pc is gone, unless they can be recovered.

what that means is:

if you purchased any icon borders or other graphic templates, or plan to in the future, i will not be able to make alterations to them in terms of resizing assets or borders, because the files you receive on kofi are flat and compressed into one uneditable layer. hopefully i can restore my files because i had some personal psds that i use for graphic previews and a new one that i was working on for a new carrd template, and i just lost all of my personal use icon borders and icons and banners and stuff, and the psds for those.

with all that being said, i don't have the mental energy at this point to go and redownload and reorganize everything from my purchase histories or laptop, so i'm not sure when i'll be making new graphics. hopefully i can get my things recovered.

i apologize for any inconvenience! but let this also be a lesson to remind everyone that you should keep important files and things in multiple locations to prevent data loss!!!! don't be silly like me!!!

update: i cannot recover my files, so i'll be redownloading my assets. i no longer have access to my original files for my creations, i'm so sorry ;w; ahhh i wish this didn't happen and i wish there was a way to get my things back but unfortunately i can't. hopefully once my classes are done for the semester i'll be able to make some new content. thank you all for your patience. please join my discord server if you'd like to keep up with updates / releases! i'll have to make a new release template as well since i lost the psd for that ;w;

my friend was trying to help me reformate and initialize a new ssd, which i have placed in an external case and plugged in, because the ssd itself is supposed to be an internal chip, but i'm too stupid so i got a shell for it instead.

the drive wasn't showing up for some reason, so when my IT friend remote accessed my pc, she thought that the drive that WAS showing up was the new one so she. wiped it on accident. i. we were not on call at the time so i didnt realize what happened until i saw "1 TB OF 1.81 TB" go back to "1.81 TB OF 1.81 TB" LMAOOO and she just. bought me a new 5 TB drive LMAO but truly i hope i can get my files back because 😭 i am now realizing just how bad it is LOL

my carrd layouts don't come with images. it's stated very clearly in all the descriptions.

as for promos and icon borders and literally whatever graphic template i sell, i use assets i purchased from etsy, kofi, any other site that sells little pngs etc. i specifically purchase assets that come with licenses that allow me to profit from them, and if the licenses aren't inherently included, i will purchase licenses from those creators.

please have some common sense before you come into my inbox or the inbox of anyone else making baseless accusations. if you have this much free time to go around the rpc sending people these anons, surely you've got the time to go do some research of your own and not be stupid on purpose.

I'd like to remind everyone that when talking about a person (or character), it's "person with albinism," not "albino."

I've mentioned before how deeply traumatic that word is for many of us. It carries a stigma that exists just as strongly as it did when we were featured in circus freakshows (which I've seen billboards for in my lifetime), because that's where people know us from and there hasn't been a movement to change that. We're still portrayed in media as freaks and villains, using our appearance to shock you. You're supposed to see us as evil, abusive, manipulative, and never worthy of redemption, because they don't expect for you to see those characters as human. If you can't think of any examples, check out the TV tropes article for Albinos are freaks.

I've experienced endless bullying and harassment, adults calling me disgusting and a freak, physical violence, and had my sunglasses and hat taken on multiple occasions (both are necessary for me to be able to see outside, essentially blinding me and leaving me downtown somewhere). I've been discriminated against so many times I can no longer remember each detail. This is what albino means to me: being subhuman.

I will never see albino as a positive word, even when people mean well. Getting people to care about us is like pulling teeth; I'm not saying this is a slur and you're a bad person if you ever say it. I'm asking for some common respect, and for you to learn about us before you talk about us and make your OCs based on more than just looks.

There's a lot more I could cover but ultimately I'd really like the word albino to fade out of our lexicon. I don't really care what you call animals, although albinistic is the scientific term.

Of course i don't speak for everyone with albinism. For more on that, here's a very short article about our various feelings on the word.
