Today is #nationallongcovidawarenessday. I鈥檝e been a long hauler since 2020 and my life has changed so much in the past 4 years. I can no longer do some things and others are much more difficult to do.
I deal with an array of symptoms every day. These symptoms can be anything from fatigue, nausea, headaches, joint pain, shortness of breath, congestion, a sore throat, a cough. They fluctuate in severity day by day. Some days I stay in bed, while others I鈥檓 able to go out.
Long COVID has disabled me. I can no longer work full time. As such, I can鈥檛 live on my own anymore. Long COVID took away my complete independence.
I am just one of the millions worldwide affected by long COVID. We are not rare.
In the summer of 2022, Shawn Mendes cancelled his world tour 7 shows in so that he could focus on his mental health. Between that time and now, he spent a lot of time on himself and with his family/friends and away from the public eye for the most part. He did a Tommy campaign last year as well as appearing as a special guest for both Ed Sheeran and Niall Horan at their respective shows. Lately, he鈥檚 been spending a lot of time in the studio, which was something he had a hard time doing last year.
Today, he announced he鈥檚 headlining Rock in Rio in September and that he is also working on a new album 鉂わ笍 He hasn鈥檛 been on stage (other than his guest appearances) since July 2022. Idk if he鈥檚 doing any other festival dates prior to this one. If not, his Rock in Rio performance will be his FIRST concert in front of a large crowd in over two years. This is absolutely HUGE for Shawn 馃ス He has come so far in the last couple of years and grown so much as a person. I鈥檓 super proud of him and this achievement.
I can鈥檛 wait for his new album and whatever else this year will bring for him.
