Everything Turns Out Right - Ross Colton
He’s out of surgery and she meets him in his room afterwards, telling him “you know, they almost didn’t let me in here. They said I had to wait until you were up and asking for me.” Her pointed look towards him.
“They only let me in because you had me listed on your paperwork as your wife. Though I had to convince them, due to us not having the same last name.”
He put his hands up in a half-hearted attempt, “I’m trying to manifest the things I want by speaking them into the universe.”
“And you want a wife?” A faked pointed look shot to him.
“Only if it’s you.” A cocky grin spreading to show his pearly whites.
“I think your meds are too strong. You, mister, are lucky. I was able to convince them we hadn’t agreed to us taking each other’s names yet and that we were waiting for my passport to be renewed before anything else.”
He chuckles, “So you’re going along with this wifey?” Her heart racing hearing him jokingly call her that name she desperately wants him to actually mean.
“Only because I wanted to be here,” she stuck out her tongue, settling next to his bedside.
Hours must have passed before the next person visited. “Mr. Colton…” stated a middle aged nurse.
“Shhh…please. She is trying to sleep,” he motioned to her curled up in the corner of the hospital room couch. “Kept her up all night worried with the injury as she had to fly in before learning anything further.”
“So sorry, Mr. Colton. I was trying to inform you that visiting hours are soon to be over.”
“She’s my wife. She can stay.”
“My bad sir.” The nurse ducked out of the doorway. She stirred soon after. Blinking around, searching to understand her surroundings.
“Tony is on his way here with real food for you. You need to eat. I’m pretty sure you last ate that snack size bag of Cheez-Its before the airplane ride.” He said. She squinty-eyed him. “You know I’m right.”
“You need to eat too, R,” she huffed.
“Already ate. Hospital food. Not half bad,” he shrugged, motioning to the bed tray with the past dinner plate.
“I can go down to the cafe and get something before they close for the night,” she started to protest. He shook his head.
“Too late sweets. He’s on his way. Meantime I’ve been channel surfing and I found a Jurassic Park movie marathon.”
Thanks to Tony coming in with true food for her before retreating back to the team’s hotel, she was left with him again. “Come here sweetheart,” he motioned to the slightly larger than a twin bed.
“R…” she started to protest.
“Nuh uh honey. Join me, I need you here to make sure no dinosaurs come to eat me.” She rolled her eyes.
“You’re a dork.”
“Yeah, yeah, but I’m your dork. Now get over here.” She gingerly climbed into the bed as best as she could to avoid bumping into his shoulder.
Before the team jetted off to the next city for the next game in the road series, a few stopped by to check in. She had slipped out to grab a cup of coffee while the men all talked briefly. “Soooo Tony spilled the beans that you told the docs she’s your wife…” Patty joked.
“Well I knew she would just be too anxious to sit in the hotel room with one of you guys. No offense,” he replied back.
“You must really love her to go that far to lie about her to a hospital,” Brayden chimed in.
“And to have us use your card to buy her that emergency flight,” Steven commented. “Ross you have to just tell her the way you feel. Sandra tells me that the way she looks at you is the same way that all of our ladies look at us, but that there is that look of longing written deep in her expression. Hate to break it to you now, but do something about it. Seriously.” No one knew that she had returned from her coffee adventure to over hear the conversation.
Steven was right. All the guys were. Sandra was, and she knew exactly her feelings towards the New Jersey native as it was a family common topic of discussion in the family box. “I want to give her the entire universe. I wasn’t really lying about the whole wife part, more just trying to actually speak what I want into existence with her. I know Tony knows this since he was there to help me pick it out, but I have the ring for her.” A ring?! So he had that planned out already.
She burst into the already cramped hospital room, carefully flinging herself into the body of the man she loved so much. A couple of the guys chuckled at the scene in front of them. “I love you so much, R.”
“So I am guessing you heard the conversation,” his laugh reverberating through her.
“Every word.”
“Well fuck this wasn’t really the way I had thought it would happen,” he glanced around the room at the guys. “I don’t even have it with me. Didn’t expect to have you here with me, even if it is due to the unfortunate circumstance.”
“I don’t care if you physically have it. You have known that items aren’t important to me.” Her eyes getting all teary.
“Sweetheart, it’s important as it’s my promise to you. You deserve to have a ring. It’s been in my nightstand drawer for months.” That was true. He bought the ring almost a year ago. She had left for a weekend to visit her family, which meant he was able to go pick out the right ring for her. He had been speaking with a local jeweler for a handful of weeks, and the designed ring finally came in.
The team left, and the couple (well Ross) was discharged from the hospital. The flight back to Tampa was uneventful, except for the company of one of the trainers to make sure there were no unforeseen complications to the injured offensive. When the two arrived home, he pulled the velvet box from that back part of his nightstand. Her tears springing to blur her vision. “Again, not how I had imagined or planned to do this for you,” he started.
She shook her head, a silent laugh shaking her body. “My love, you have been the best part of my life,” he continued on. “The nonstop love you have for everyone around you. How much you pour yourself into your life. I could not even imagine life without you in it. When you came into my life, the sunshine brightened the world even further. I saw it from a different outlook that only you could show me.” He watched her closely as he momentarily struggled with the small box.
Pulling it open, revealing the large custom ring to her. “Will you do me the honor of continuing that life, and be my wife?” He asked her.
“Absolutely yes! I would say yes in every life time to you Ross.” She couldn’t imagine her life without him in it, and was so glad he felt the same. Through it all, life would be amazing with each other by their sides.

Lucky Charm
Prompt: When no one knows that they’re secretly married, but after scoring in the Stanley Cup playoffs he sees her in the stands wearing his jersey and holding the kid no one knows he has…and he’s almost knocked on his ass because he can’t take his eyes off her, and the moment is featured on national TV.
The day had been a long one of keeping up with the rambunctious toddler. Of course she wouldn’t exchange it for the world. Between the two parents, she agreed to be the stay at home mom while he provided for them.
It was a last minute decision to be down there at the arena, let alone up against the glass. She wasn’t sure how her girlfriend managed to get the tickets, pretty sure she had them, but the other guests bailed on her.
“Linds, I can’t come! I’ve got no one to watch Salem tonight.”
“Sage, just bring her! I have enough tickets for all of us. She can sit between us. Besides I bet she would love to see her Daddy play!” Salem had just recently turned two-and-a-half, and had only seen her Daddy play on tv and during the open practices.
“Sails you wanna go watch Daddy play?” She giggled and clapped.
“Daddy?” The toddler questioned her mama.
“Yeah, baby. Daddy is at work. Want to go see him?” She nodded, and clapped more. “Okay, fine Linds we will see you there! Text me the tickets!”
“Yay! I promise you’ll have fun!”
With the heavy amount of traffic, both automobiles and pedestrians, it took a little longer to get past security than originally planned. Which meant warm ups were just wrapping up when the pair met up with the friend. “Hi ya Salem!” Salem laughed and waved hi back to her Aunt Linds. “You just missed him, but he will be back out soon.”
The two women chatted as Salem watched the lights and people all around her. He wasn’t a starting player for the game, so she observed him on the bench. He was so sucked into the game, not knowing she was there, so close.
First intermission came in a flash. He had a few shifts during that first period, and she could see how as the game progressed he became more comfortable. Before anyone knew it, second period was under way. Now they would be scoring on the goal the three sat behind. Sage cradled Salem on her hip as she wasn’t tall enough to see over the boards the action of the game.
Her wedding ring glittering off the arena’s obnoxiously bright lights, casting tiny rainbows across the floor, as she held onto her daughter. Her daughter’s wide cerulean blue eyes captivated by the speed of the men whizzing around the large frozen sheet.  “Daddy! Daddy!” The young girl cheered as she caught her first glimpse of him, her long dark curls bouncing as she squirmed around.
He was back across the ice, then back in front of her again. His next shift he lead the puck, finding the back of the net past the Avalanche’s Georgiev. As he comes around the back of the net in a celly, he sees both, and cannot take his eyes off of them.
His teammates flock around him, and he almost gets his ass slammed down to the ice because he gets run into. His only savior being Yanni Gourde and Adam Larson catching him. Even then he cannot seem to break the little trace he’s in. “If you’re watching this round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, you may have just witnessed Vince Dunn almost get taken out by teammates because something outside the rink, in the crowd is distracting him,” an announcer calls.
No doubt that would be the hockey meme of the night, and for the weeks to follow. The Kraken social team was quick to use the gif made from it to post about taking the lead.
@seattlekraken: “us when we realize we have the lead currently”
Salem squeals again in excitement as she sees him smiling at her. She can hear the clicks of cameras sounding off around her as he smiles at them. Sage’s jersey proudly representing her last name of Dunn, and Salem’s with Daddy across the back and Vince’s number. He blows Salem a kiss and a sticking tongue out face, causing the previous reaction to repeat, before skating off.
After winning the game, which gave the Kraken the lead in the series, the biggest question was asked during the interview, “what was that almost landing on your ass about?”
“Well, I-uh…I honestly didn’t expect to see my wife and our daughter standing there right behind the glass,” he smiled. “It definitely caught me off guard, in a good - I mean great way.”
“So that was your daughter?” A report repeated.
“Yes, my wife and daughter were here tonight. Now if you don’t mind, I would love to go see them, so please one final question.” He bounded off, in search of his favorite people. Adam had her outside the locker room, chatting and occasionally bouncing Sails up and down.
“Daaadddyyy!” She screamed when she spotted him, taking off from everyone else.
“Hey my little pumpkin!” He grabbed her kissing her cheek. “I see you came to Daddy’s work!” She nodded vigorously.
“Come on you three, take a family picture!” Linds cheered, pushing Sage into her family. A few photos snapped of the little family.  “Glad you were able to not cause too much chaos tonight,” Sage teased Vince. “Even if you’re still leading in PIMs this season.” He jokingly goes to nip the tip of her nose in retaliation and Salem pushes his face. “Bad daddy. No bites!”
*New Instagram Post - posted photo series of Sage and Vince with Salem’s face not shown, back of her jersey is though*
@vincedunn: “you could say I had my lucky charms in the building tonight”
Comment reply: @sagedunn: “yeah we know you mean @adamlarson 🙄”
Reply: @vincedunn : “if I meant him then why are you sporting my last name on that jersey then? 😜😘”
Reply: @sagedunn: “that’s because he’s forced to work with you”

check out this fantastic writing from the bestie! Worth a read to kick off the new year!
And They Were Roommates
Tumblr media
Summary: Brandon Hagel and Anthony Cirelli, both star members of the Tampa Bay Lightning, are living together. After building a strong bond and friendship on and off the ice, Brandon's feelings start to grow stronger for his now roommate. The question Brandon has to keep asking himself? How much longer can he hide his now growing feelings for his roommate? Notes: This is a male/male fic. I have many more things planned for these two in the future, but I want to see how this fic will play out first. Feel free to comment and leave suggestions for what you would like to see! Word Count: 1592
“Ugh why is there never anything good on TV?” Brandon says with a huff as he tosses the remote to the couch and goes into the kitchen. “Because you watch the same three shows and refuse to watch anything different.” Tony says, a slight snicker in his voice as he tries keeping a straight face.
Brandon gives him an annoyed look, “I do not watch the same shows over and over again thank you very much.” “Then how come when I first started staying here, all you did was watch Austin Powers. I mean my god bagel you went as him for Halloween!” “And your point is? At least I had pants on, Mr. Fred Flinstone.” That comment causes Tony’s jaw to click shut. Brandon has a smirk plastered on his face, “I’m going to go work out since there is nothing else to do. You coming or not?” “No, I think I’ll pass, can actually watch what I want to watch.” Anthony now wears a teasing smirk on his face as he sees Brandon roll his eyes in defeat. “You’re so annoying.” Brandon says with a scuff as he throws his shoes on and walks out of the front door. Brandon made sure his workout was long and intense, not only did he go because he was bored, but because he needed to get out of the house and away from Anthony. The way Brandon started catching feelings for Tony, it scares him. He doesn’t want to lose his best friend if Tony finds out the way Brandon is starting to feel towards him. The way Tony’s calming presents has helped Brandon stay calm, always being there for each other. Anthony was one of the first people to help Brandon get settled in Tampa after the trade. Brandon knew the second he looked into Tony’s soft brown eyes that he was smitten, he was only too afraid to say anything and ruin the friendship that had formed in their time together. As Brandon finishes his workout and takes a shower, he checks his phone and sees there is a message from Anthony on their: C: Don’t grab dinner tonight, made Nonna’s Chicken Parm since it is game day tomorrow. B: You cooked? That’s a shock.
The boys were both a stranger to the kitchen, most of their nights they either ate with the team for pre-game meals or grabbed something on their way home from practice. Neither being what someone would call a cook. But that was okay, that is how they worked and it has been working for a couple months now. When Brandon walks through the front door and kicks his shoes off, the smell of chicken in the oven and his stomach growl at the thought of being able to eat soon. “Thank you Nonna for teaching Tony the only thing he knows how to cook.” Brandon says as he walks to the kitchen and grabs a water from the fridge. “Do you need help with anything?” “Please, since when do you want to be in the kitchen?” Anthony turns from the stove and raises an eyebrow at Brandon. “Uh, never? Just thought I’d be nice.” He gives him a mocking expression. “Get the plates ready, please?” Tony offers him a soft smile, which causes Brandon to relax and grab the plates from the cabinet. As the two settle into the kitchen table, both quietly eating other than the occasional small talk, their dinner was peaceful. And for two star players, peace was hard to find. So when they had even just a moment, they soaked up every bit of it that they could. Brandon finishes his dinner first and pushes his now empty plate away, “I know we don’t cook much, but that is one of my favorite things that we do cook.” A small smile comes across Tony’s lips at Brandon’s praise, “Thanks B.” “Here, give me your plate, I’ll do the dishes since you made dinner.” His hands reach out to take Anthony’s plate. “Are you sure? There isn’t that much to clean, I don’t mind doing it.” “It’s only fair since you made dinner that I clean up the mess.” “You’re impossible some days Hag’s, you know that?” “Oh bite me.” Brandon says dryly as he takes the plates back into the kitchen and gets to work on getting the dinner mess cleaned up.
Once finished, he dries his hands off and sits down on his spot on the couch, he grabs the remote before Tony has a chance to take it. A teasting look on his face. “Brandon James, I swear if we watch another Austin Powers movie..” “Come on, just one? It’s getting late anyways and I know your grouchy ass won’t stay up past 10:30 anyways.” Branon looks at his phone and sees that it is already 8:30, just enough time to watch a movie before Tony heads to bed. Anthony reluctantly sighs and sits deeper into the couch, “fine, but don’t expect me to pay much attention.” “Oh you know you’ll get into it, just like every time that we watch one of them.” About midway through their movie, Brandon would look over at Tony, admiring his features. The slope of his nose, he sees himself leaving gentle kisses on it, especially after Tony would get to feeling self conscious about it. The way his t-shirt fit snugly around his strong shoulders. The curls that fall loosely on his neck, oh what Brandon wouldn’t do to just be able to run his fingers through them after a long day. He signs and tears his eyes away and back to the screen before Anthony notices his staring.
Once their movie ends, it is a little past 10 pm and Tony stands and yawns, “I don’t know about you, but I am heading to bed.” “I think I am going to stay up a little longer.  I am not tired yet.” “Do you ever get tired?” “After dealing with your ass all day long, I don’t know how I am not exhausted by the end of the day.” “Are you always a smart ass?” Anthony rubs his eyes, sleep taking over his body. “Go to bed, old man.” Brandon says and chuckles. Tony flips him off before heading off into his bedroom down the hall. Once Brandon hears his door click shut, he turns on another movie and mindlessly scrolls through his phone, even after his big workout today, his mind doesn’t get as tired as Anthony’s does. Their sleep schedules being the only thing that doesn’t match up between the two. Brandon stays up much later and can function on just a few hours of sleep, where as Tony needed more sleep and more time to let his body recover. Anthony also having a longer career in the NHL than Brandon has, two back to back cup winning seasons and a third trip to the cup finals. Brandon was still getting his feet under him and hasn’t had as many times put on his body yet. As the nights goes on, it is now a little after midnight and Brandon hears the bedroom door open. Odd. Tony usually sleeps through the night. Anthony snuffles out into the living room, “What are you still doing up? It’s late.” “You know I stay up late, I should be asking you the same thing, why are you up? You usually don’t have a problem sleeping.” “Been tossing and turning all night. Hopefully getting some water will help.” Brandon offers him a sad smile, he knows Tony is lonely, so he tries to be there the best he can for his friend. Once Tony returns from the kitchen, he leans against the back of the couch where Brandon is sitting, “this is going to be a long day tomorrow if I don’t end up getting some sleep tonight.” “C, it is one night, it isn’t going to kill you. I will make sure to stop at Starbucks tomorrow before we head to the rink to make sure you get your coffee.” “I appreciate it man,” he lingers on the back of the couch for a few minutes before stepping away, almost awkwardly. Brandon quickly picks up on the sudden changes and gently lifts the blanket up that is thrown over him, “come here.” Anthony gives him a confused look, “Brandon, we can’t. You know how wrong that would be?” “How would it be wrong?” “Because we are teammates and almost brothers.” The worry grows on Tony’s face.
“I’m not forcing you C, just offering. You can turn it away, go back to your room and fall asleep alone again. Or you can put your pride aside for just one night and let someone hold you while you sleep.”
Anthony’s feet disobeying his mind as he makes his way around the couch, as he lays down against Brandon’s chest, his body instantly relaxing into Brandon.
“See there you go,” Brandon says softly, covering them both as his hands gently run up and down Tony’s back.
As they lay together in silence, Anthony realizes just how tired he had become, and Brandon was right, he was tired of sleeping alone every night. Anthony knows he shouldn’t be enjoying this, the tender and loving touch of his teammate. The way their bodies fit perfectly together, the slow steady beat of Brandon’s heart in time with his own, but he also knows Brandon has a point. Plus, it’s a simple cuddle. What more could it possibly hurt?

The Reactions
A/N: These are the reactions of fans meeting their favorite hockey player and the player's significant other. There are 3 players for this one. I am open to writing more - just send a request in!
Ross Colton:
It was a balmy day, that pre-afternoon thunderstorm humidity creating a thick wall outside of any area that could potentially hold air conditioning.
The season ended for the Bolts, but the battle for Lord Stanley continued for other teams. Bogo invited the team over to watch it while having a BBQ. He had asked that a side dish, snacks, or dessert was brought along, which prompted the rushed trip into the local grocery store.
Ross's frame hid her smaller frame as the two decided what to bring to the barbecue. The case of beer held by his side, the other arm wound around her waist. "How about we just bring some hummus and pretzels? We could also bring a box of cookies because we both know the kids would love us forever," he suggested, grabbing the bag of tiny pretzels. She nodded along, starting to walk over to where the cookies were in the bakery.
With their quest for snacks completed, the couple head to check out. She chirped about him not grabbing her some drinks, because 'beer is awful.' He chuckled, went to grab her a case of her own drinks, and return to the long line. That's when a young fan popped up behind them.
"I am so sorry! He just saw you from down the aisle. He's a big fan of yours," the frazzled mom spills.
Sharing a look, Ross turns to the boy. "Nice to meet you...."
"Jason!" A toothy, energetic reply comes. "As mom said, I am a huge fan. I watch everything I can! Can we get a picture, please?"
"Well that's very nice of you, buddy. Absolutely so," he says to him. "Hey hun, do you need my card?" he asks, turning to you.
"No, I've got it," she explained. He turned back to Jason, his mom ready to snap the picture. The two boys pose, large smiles on both faces.
"Who's that?" Jason questioned, peering over towards her.
"That little dude is my girlfriend."
Jason's jaw drops. "She's super pretty!" Hearing Ross chuckle, you turn and give the boy a soft smile and a little wink. "Lucky her! Can she be in the picture too?"
"Nah, I am the lucky one! Only if she wants to be." A set of pleading eyes convinces her to join the picture. The two leave to continue their shopping, and to let the couple get to where they needed to go.
Later that day Ross found the picture of the three, along with the caption, 'Thank you Ross for stopping and taking the time to say hi and to both of you for taking a picture with the little man.'
___________________________________________
Brandon Hagel:
A day spent accidentally burning in the sun, playing tag and soccer, crashing in the waves led to catching a bite to eat at one of the various beach restaurant locations. The Key West styled and painted building invited the couple up to the roof top bar.
Amidst the semi-impromptu sunset dinner date, she notices a girl, who she couldn't decide if was closer to the teens or early twenties, glancing over at their table. He also clocks her on his radar, but continues to focus on his lovely company. "Honey, you're going to need to apply aloe!"
She groans, "Ugh! I swear I had enough sunscreen on, but I can feel that post sunburn feeling already starting to take affect."
He throws a few ice cubes from the bottom of his water glass at her, laughing then starting to hiss like when water hits a burning hot pan. She makes a face at him, sending a glare towards him, as he continues to laugh. "My poor poor little crispy tater tot. We can stop on the way home to make sure we stock up on the sunscreen and aloe," he promises.
The two continue their meal, making the occasional chirps at each other. "Finish watching the sunset, to the store for the promised relief, then home for a shower," she compromises with him. He downs the remainder of his third water cup, reaching to grab the half drank beer. Again he clocks the other girl. Their table had just been cleared from the food baskets, which is when she decides to take her chance.
"You're Brandon Hagel," she states looking at him after approaching the picnic table.
He swallows his drink, "That I am. Can I help you?"
"I think I can help you. I cannot keep my eyes off of you. Can maybe I get your number?" She asks, a small pout to her lips, while she twirls a strand of hair.
"I don't have an issue taking a picture with you, but as you can see I'm here with my girlfriend," he motions toward her. The fan turns toward said girlfriend, eyeing her up and down. "You didn't even acknowledge that she's here. So please be kind to us.”
After she stalks away, he turns to you. “So tots - you ready for that promise relief?” A set of pleading eyes sends the couple off to retrieve the items and take a much needed indoor break.
————————————————————————
Brayden Point:
Her coworkers and begged for a drink after the long day. She agreed, but texted him to join them at the local restaurant. This really would be the first time he meets the entire work family. When he arrives, she disappears to retrieve him. “Team this Brayden. Brayden these are the lovely ladies who help me survive the day.”
“Nice to meet everyone,” he nods.
It takes a bit before Janet, the work team grandma, puts two and two together. The dots connect for her. Brayden had just excused himself for a moment. “Wait wait wait tots! You’re telling me that your boyfriend is Bolts player Brayden Point?! How am I just putting this together?”
She laughs, “Jan, we don’t really put this out on display for everyone. Neither of us want to draw attention to our private life.”
“Right there sweetheart. Never really gets questioned too much honestly. I think poor Bea gets confused as a fan or a friend of one of the other guy’s girl’s more than anything else,” he chuckles sitting down, arm draped around her shoulder.
“I can’t believe you never said anything!” Janet continues. “You’re dating basically a local celebrity!”
“Well you never really asked, and we don’t tell many people. Rather just let them find out on their own,” she shrugs. “We joke that it’s a secret club once people find out about us. So umm…welcome to the club I guess!”

Omg congrats babes! You go! So glad to call you a friend due to hockey!
Tumblr media
– ao3 – ask & i’ll answer –  for recs check out my bookshelf! –  join my taglist! –
So this, this snuck up on me a lot faster than I had anticipated. 500 of you? Following me? Crazy. It seems I have blinked and it happened so I'm going to be doing something a little different for the celebration this time - because I swear I just posted the last of my 300 follower appreciation.
Inspired by @senditcolton 's Hozier prompt list (she did such an amazing job with it and her blurbs so go check them out), I have made a prompt list of my favorite songs from a variety of artists. There are 10 songs, which means only 10 blurbs (which will probably be more along the lines of tiny fics compared to the blurbs I did for the 300-follower celebration). Headlining are my favorite lyrics, here is the Spotify playlist with all of the songs for you to enjoy.
Submit your claim for a specific lyric paired with a player (make sure to read my rules regarding who I write for before you submit). It is on. first come first serve basis for the sake of my own sanity because I know if I do more than 10 I'll still be writing them when I hit my next milestone. The list will be updated as the requests are received. *Prior to posting I shared my prompt list with some friends who wanted to assure Vince Dunn got his prompt. Therefore he will not be eligible for any prompt except for the one that has already been decided for him: Prompt 3, Can't Fight the Moonlight.
;; 500 Follower Celebration
The Night We Met - Nico Hischier I had all and then most of you, some and now none of you.
Delicate - Freddie Andersen Phone lights up my nightstand in the black, come here; you can meet me in the back.
Can't Fight the Moonlight - Vince Dunn If you think that you won't fall, well just wait until the sun goes down.
Tainted Love - Ross Colton I've got to get away from the pain you drive into the heart of me.
So Good - Adam Lowry Do I think about the one that got away? I know his name, I think about him every day.
Boyfriend - Mat Barzal What are the chances? Everyone's dancing, and he's not with you.
I Wanna Be Yours - Brandon Hagel Secrets I have held in my heart are harder to hide than I thought.
I Ain't Worried - Anthony Beauvillier I don't know what you've been told, but time is running out, no need to take it slow.
Everybody Talks - Gabe Landeskog It started with a whisper, and that was when I kissed her.

Let Me - Vince Dunn
Thank you for all the love on my Gem post! Another idea came to me for him…I hope you enjoy this one just as much!
It wasn’t a purposeful keeping the marriage unknown. All records are open to the public. She had her last name changed as well. Neither her nor Vince just announced the marriage. It was only three weeks since eloping. A beautiful day, some stunning scenery out in Toronto. Just the two of them, their photographer, and the officiant. The ring glittering under the arena lights. She was surprised she still showed up to the arena that night after the wicked nasty fight that occurred right before he was supposed to be at the arena for pregame. She had asked him about just continuing to keep their new status a little more private, but he said he was wanting to tell the guys on the team before playoffs started. They all knew her, but no one knew of the change in status for the couple. That was the reason they fought this afternoon.
She groaned, “Vince, did you even think about that this could take away the focus on the playoff games?”
He scoffed. “No, I figured it would let them know another reason why I am so determined to bring home the Stanley Cup.”
If she was being honest, she was more worried about him being spotted with his ring on and fans speculating. Most fans were so sweet to her, but she did get the rude remarks and glares. He had always told her it didn’t matter what they said because he was her’s, but she still struggled dealing with that while he was on the ice. “Think about it Vin! People catch you with the ring and they will want to know so much more about that than how the game goes!”
“It’s been a few weeks already and no one has caught on! I think we will be fine!”
“I’m not sure if I’m ready to let more people know about our marriage! Do you not respect that wish of mine?” Some of the girls had not been very kind in the past to her after Vince once slipped up about their relationship. Vile to her about how she loved him for his money. Vile with comments about how he liked to flirt with other girls and cheat on her.
“What do you mean? Of course I do! No one will catch the fact I wear a ring.” He looks at the clock. “I better go before I am late. Will I see you there?” He asks, looking at her. He can see the tears rimming her eyes, threatening to pour down her face. It doesn’t sit well with him that they just fought before the playoff game, darkening his already anxious mood.
Game time rolls around, and every little chance he has to berate the opposing team’s players, he does. Before long, he keeps landing himself in the penalty box, every chance he gets too. His mind clouded with how she looked before her left for the arena. How she looked a little cracked, how she seemed so small for herself. After this next round in the penalty box, she hears the announcers comment. “I don’t know what is up with Vince Dunn tonight, but for someone who’s loud through the regular season, he sure has it out tonight to be in that penalty box more than on the ice.”
“You’re right there. If I didn’t know better, I may say that coach will be looking to remove him for the playoff roster.” Her heart plummeted into her feet. Removing him from the playoff roster? He played such an intricate part of the core defense that removing him could be an awful outcome. She yanked her phone out, dialing that contact she’s never used before. “Who is this?” The man’s voice questioned across the line. She explained to him that she just needs to see Vince immediately. “I’m sorry but this isn’t a way to see him. You have a better chance at going to the games or one of their open practices.”
“I’m not a fan. I need to see Vince Dunn now. You have to get me down to the locker room before the start of the next period.”
He laughed. “Why would I get you in to see him?” “Because I’m his wife.” She identified herself to him.
Commotion happening across the phone line. “Meet me next to the shop. I’ll see you in three minutes.”
She followed the man down the back halls to get towards the locker room. The sound spilling out of the locker room could be heard down the hallway. His manager talking with the defense coach. Coach motioned some number at her, she could care less how much time, she just needed the time, then let her slip past into the room. A defeated Vince sat in his gear cubby, eyes casted towards the floor. “You’re going to burn a hole into the floor, mister,” she teased as she crouched down in from of him. The whispers could be heard of ‘why is she down here’ and a few ‘who is she’ sprinkled in.
She knelt between his knees, putting her hand on his cheek. “Vin…Vin…Vince…,” she cooed. He broke out of his trance. “Breathe babe. It will be okay. You know fights happen, but do not get your ass kicked off this roster. Do not throw this chance for a second Cup for you out because you’re upset.” He melted into her her hand, taking a few breaths. “I’m sorry we fought. I just felt caught off guard. I get where you came from, wanting to share the news with the team.”
“Time is up Mrs. Dunn,” Coach called out. She went to stand, and Vince pulled her into a quick kiss. The room cheered, noise dying down as they made their way back to the bench.
After the game, she was brought back into the locker room to announce their marriage officially to the team, together.

She’s a Gem - Vince Dunn
Shoutout to @cellythefloshie for gushing about this man, and encouraging this write. Hope everyone enjoys it!
Vince bought her some sort of sparkly gem for every major occasion that happened between the two. The tradition started after he won Lord Stanley, because she deserved something shiny. Paper rings were what he made her on every date leading up to the first gem. The St. Louis 2018-2019 team won the Stanley cup. He got his Stanley Cup and the ring to go along with it. He bought her Sapphires. This was the first major gift he ever gave her. The two only had been dating a little under a year when he did this. He said it was because she needed to rock something blue to go along with his gear. She wore the set every game, even during the bubble series. It made her feel closer to him, even though he was in Toronto, and FaceTimes were the only form of face to face either got of each other. Her shadow box with the paper rings he made her sitting next to the new box containing her first gem.
When news broke he was going to Seattle during the expansion, she was the first one to cheer on the new opportunity, even if that turned them long distance again. In the bubble, she moved home to Florida to be around her family. Due to the world turning back to some weird level of normal, the couple was allowed to see each other again. He wasn’t in the bubble anymore. He presented her with Aquamarines to match his new team’s jersey color. “You need to be able to coordinate correctly, loves,” he explained. A small promise to her that she had his heart. Her box of paper rings, more added to the collection of both because again he continued the original tradition for every date. She took the move to Seattle right before the fall season, right before the hockey season started up. She had been out of the Florida heat for a while, but her wardrobe was bright, cheery, Key West colorations. What did he get her? Pink Ethiopian opals. They reminded him of her so much, matching her personality (and her clothes). October 23, 2021 - Vince Dunn scores his first goal as a defensemen for the Seattle Kraken. The following day, he took her out and bought her black pearls. “What? I can’t celebrate my first goal with a new team by spoiling my hunny with some new jewelry?” “I’m not saying you can’t, but Vince this is about you!” “And it wouldn’t be for me without my number one cheering me on from the sidelines.” A paper ring adorning her ring finger at that time. “Vince Dunn! You better not tell your mother you just said I’m your number one! She’ll be heartbroken!” ‘Ha,’ he thought. His mother would be estatic, knowing that there was good reason behind that statement.
She landed a new job in Seattle, finally, after being out there for a couple of months. Peruvian blue opals for her new job, and because it was another reason for him to gift her with something to reminder her of him. “What? Can’t spoil my girl?” “Vin, it’s your birthday celebration!”
“So? My beautiful girlfriend will now have something to wear and think about me while she rocks the new job!” She rolled her eyes, and thanked him again. The opals came in back to back sets, along with the pearls, due to the fact that their birthdays were days apart from each other. That paper ring collection larger than imagined when the tradition started. He couldn’t resist giving her options and reminders of him, every major chance he could. Whenever she wore them, it made his heart swell with pride. She loved it because he took the time to choose each item, each one holding so much meaning to their relationship. Maybe one day these would be passed down to their children, and then their children, and so on. The two had talked multiple times, at length, for the future, what it held for the couple - marriage, children, a real house. Over the off season break, he put his next plan of what celebration the two would have. The biggest decision for him. That ring. Not her paper rings, not the other rings that matched the sets of jewelry previously gifted. He had been giving it thoughts for a year now. First season completed in Seattle, he was ready for that next step with her. She donned his name multiple times for years, stitched into all the jerseys. She had stuck through it all with him. Every twist, turn, bump, and loop-de-loop life threw at them. Glued to his side. The ups and downs, highs and lows, every moment. That old box of paper rings proving every day their commitment. He knew she kept them all. He finally settled on the perfect ring for her. A 3.5 karat diamond with a titanium band. Classic, with minor flare. A little more flashy than the others in her now decent size collection, but she deserves the attention. The most important piece she’d own.
He found it by accident while out with the boys back in Toronto. Home for him is with her, no matter where they are. The group had popped into an antique based shop, and as she was more of a timeless, classic girl, he took a peek at what the case held. Nestled in red velvet, sat the ring. Then and there he saw her with that particular one adorning her finger. A little more shiny and sparkling, definitely a conversation starter. Similar to her grandmother’s ring that she said she adored growing up. The marquise cut, flower set diamond ring. Immediately he rang his mother, followed by her mother. Both were in agreeance. That ring was meant to be hers. Without a second thought, he bought it.
He had the girl of his dreams. He now had the perfect ring. All he needed was the perfect place to ask her that all so important question. She wasn’t the type to care for the general cheesy proposals. He needed something more meaningful, more unique.
He held onto that ring until their trip to the Bahamas with some of the other teammates that weren’t selected for the All Stars series. Sunset on the balcony of their hotel room with drinks, and a hidden bottle of champagne to celebrate with further after he asked. His phone hidden and recording to keep this moment forever.
Her back facing the camera, she was admiring the fire painted sky. He came up, hugging her from behind. The box in his pocket feeling heavier than before. “Hey hunny…you know that I love you, right?” He asked her.
“Yeah, of course I do loves. Why do you ask?”
He was already nervous, a little giddy even. He never thought he’d be there, ready to ask her to be by his side forever. He took her hand making her face him. “I say that because…be…because…I want to spend the until the end of time with you.” He drops down to one knee, his ocean tumbled curls falling into his eyes. “For years already you’ve worn my last name proudly across your back, but now I want you to share that last name. Our last name across your back. I want those future moments we’ve talked about time and time again. Will you marry me?” He pulled out the velvet box, that ring glinting, reflecting the scorching colors.
Her eyes sparkled with tears that threatened to tumble down her cheeks. “Of course I’ll marry you Vince!” He slipped the ring on, she pulled him in for a kiss.
After dinner and celebrations, back in the hotel room. “You picked a wonderful ring. Knowing me so well for this shiny one,” she commented to him. “But you know I’d marry you with paper rings if it came down to it. You’re the one I want.”

5 in a row = bingo!
at the start of the fic please include the 5 tropes you have chosen
There is no word count or expected format. You can write it as a fic, or in my imagine/blurb format (example), I will be happy with either.
I do not have a preference for reader insert or Original Character content.
Will only read player x reader stories. I am not interested in player x player content.
Please do not write about players drafted after the 2018 draft. I will not read them.
Smut is welcome but not expected. Please tag all 18+ content accordingly.
If writing smut please avoid themes of BDSM, degradation (mild is okay), non-con (dubcon is okay) and anal sex. I thought this list would be longer, but I can't think of anything else.
RE: FREE SPACE - pick any trope on the board that is not in line with the row you are after.

Long Live - Ross Colton
A/N: I wrote this up after hearing the news about Colton going to the Avs and also blasting Taylor Swift. I felt like it just made sense in this situation.
“And the Tampa Bay Lightning are your 2021 Stanley Cup Champions! Back to back!” The announcement shook through the arena. Air thick with electricity as realization kicked in. The team had done it. A back to back Stanley Cup run. Kings of NHL - a powerhouse of a team. Photographs snapped in every direction, smiles bright, whole body shaking with the adrenaline, as everyone tried to capture the moment. As fans started to exit into the downtown area, the team welcomed their families onto the ice to soak in the moment of what just became reality.
After coming off of last years run, the team had been determined to make another run for this years cup, holding the reins. Once a dream, Lord Stanley hoisted by team captain Steven Stamkos. “Remember this moment, here and now. Soak it all in babe,” she remarked to her boyfriend. He stood like a deer when caught in the headlights of a car, wide eye. By morning, if not earlier due to social media, the pictures would be on every major local tabloid.
“We are going down in franchise history as the team who brought back to back cups,” one of the guys chirped. “We will be remembered.”
Flash forward to the post season of the 2022-2023 season. Passing pictures around of that time as it came time to say goodbye to the town that created the player he was today tugged on his heart strings a bit more. All those years of work for him, his family cheering him on. She stood by his side, on the sidelines - whether that was physically or following along over social media, for every little victory, including a third Stanley Cup Final and then being kicked out in round one of the next year’s playoffs.
He never dreamt that he’d trade in his minor jerseys years ago to earning his NHL branded one.
Memories that were embedded into those walls, into the city, photographed and tucked away into an album to look back on years later. Waiting for those who asked the stories behind each photo. Looking at the boxes stacked containing those years in their city, ready to be unpacked in the coming week. Into a new place. In a new city, across the country.
She sat in a corner with the album. Small salty drops dripped onto the protective plastic. “Loves what is it?” he asked, concerned.
“I’ve had the time of my life, watching as you built your career, cheering you on. It’s just wild to think of the start of it all to now.” Not long after he came to Tampa is when the two met. She was the one to ask him for his number, but he asked for the date.
“Are you worried about the move?”
“More worried about the change for us.” News came a few days prior to Draft Day. Tampa couldn’t keep him, and the Colorado Avs offered a trade deal to acquire him. Moving away from the city that brought them together, onto the next adventure. “I know it’s not ideal, but I’m scared that if fate steps in, forcing a goodbye between us,” a hushed voice followed by a small sob explained. That fear of the change to come would tear the couple apart. She’d help him move, then tie up her part in Tampa, before coming out to Colorado, joining him.
His heart ached for her. “It’s not gonna happen. No goodbyes, a few see ya laters just like always. Just like this is an away game trip hunny. When our children point to the pictures - you’re going to explain the love story we created, and then explain it to our grandchildren.”
She questioned, “Children?” He nodded his head, scooting to rest on one knee.
“Ideally, this would have been more planned, but I think we need some magic and we need to create a happy memory in our new home.” The new home that she helped pick out, because even with this upside-down shock, he wanted…needed her there. In their home. A black velvet box appears from his pants pocket. “Marry me.” Not a question, a statement because he was so sure of his future with her, no matter where the two went or the universe threw in their direction.
Nodding, more tears cascading down her face, pulling him in for a kiss. She noticed the uniqueness of the glittering ring that adorned her ring finger. “What’s the story behind it?”
“I know you prefer an older style for jewelry, so I had a stone that was in my family cut into that pear shape, the outside adorned with sapphires to represent where we met and fell in love. Long live us, our relationship - no matter what is thrown our way.”

Sweetness in Life
A continuation of what @cellythefloshie started with her teacher x Brandon Hagel blurb/imagine. ————————————————————————
Not long after retiring to the couch from the long Friday school day, does her phone ping with a new notification.
Unknown number: “Hey gorgeous”. Confusion taking over her mind. Three dots appear underneath, disappear, then reappear. “It’s Brandon.”
It clicks. He texted. That was quick of him. She didn’t expect him to text her so fast, let alone at all. He was a hockey player and she was an elementary school teacher. The two talked late into the night, texting about everything that came to mind. Both laughing and smiling at their phone screens.
This had become the new pattern the two fell into for the coming weeks. He had to travel to finish off the last few weeks of games, while she prepared for the end of the school year.
The first phone call came after a rough game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Lightning. He was so upset about the game's outcome, he just needed to take his mind off of it all, and drifted towards her.
Only a few rings before a half awake answer came out of the speaker. "Oh um hi," she yawned out.
He grimaced, "Shit. I woke you up."
"No. No, you're fine, Bran." He started to relax a little. "What's up? I wasn't expecting your call."
"Honestly?" he questioned, following up with the explanation. "Honestly, I need the distraction. I wanted to hear your voice. Tonight's game really sucked, ya know? Thought that this was easier than texting." Texting turned into phone calls as time permitted for the couple. He looked forward to hearing her voice after games.
A blaring clock sound rung out, scaring her awake. She jumped for her phone, shutting the alarm off, when a soft snoring sound arose followed by grumbling. On the other end of the noise was Brandon. He woke up hearing the noise, confused as it did not sound like his set tone. "Good morning," a soft voice called out. "It seems like we stayed on the phone all night."
"Morning darling. I'm pretty sure you fell asleep and not long after I did too. But I did have you up until somewhere around 2 am I believe," he admits. In past phone calls, she had ended the call before falling asleep, or he would hang up if she had fallen asleep on the call. She politely ended the call not long after, but he already planned to make sure he brought her coffee later in the day.
The bag packed with lunch items weighed in his hands, along with balancing the tray with coffee in it, as he walked into he school office. Nancy, the front office lady, dialed her room. "Ms. M, you have a visitor." He was then escorted back to her room.
She turned a bright pink when she caught sight of him. A few of her students started 'ooo-ing' and put the puzzle pieces together. Students lined up to head to lunch, he walked with the class. "I hope you don't mind that I brought you lunch...and coffee. I thought maybe have a lunch date. I know you are working so time is limited."
"Actually this has been the best part of today, well minus waking up to hearing you," she flirted. "Thank you for doing that."
"I couldn't pass up the chance to bring you coffee. The least I can do after I kept you up so late last night."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She finally accepted his invite to come to one of the games. He promised that the other wives and girlfriends would love her, as she would be up in one of the boxes with them during the game. It only was a couple of weeks prior that the two actually became an item.
Francesca Maroon took to her the quickest, well besides the Stamkos boys. Little Carter was glued to her side as much as she’d allow him to be. No eyelashes we batted as the group of women and children took to the newbie. She had been accepted into this exclusive club. New friends, an exciting new relationship, what more could she ask for? Playoffs were approaching, a battle for the championship, Lord Stanley, which would have brought the couple under stress, but the two maintained their routine. Brandon surprised her again at school, with boxes of donuts for her students.
Even through all the madness of his season, he took time to celebrate the little moments. Her class scored the highest average and most growth within her grade level in the school on the end of year state testing. The sweet moments in life are what the young couple enjoyed the most.
The team didn’t make it past the first round of playoffs, which was disappointing to the men, but it did allow for a bit of slow down for the couple. Especially once the school year ended for her. “What about a vacation once we finish packing up your classroom? It can be a couple days to wherever,” he suggested. “Just some us time.” She agreed.
Days later the two found themselves on the tarmac of the tiny airport of the small tropic island. Salty air, the smell of coconuts and wafts of sweet rum blanketed the city. Their cells rarely used the trip, focusing on themselves. The sweet journey of life the two could enjoy without much interruption.
