NFTs in India
Collecting unique pieces is an old hobby that has been going on for centuries. This does make a way of making digital money for most of the people who are interested in making money as well as an ownership token of unique art. In some parts of the world, it is legal but illegal for others. The term is NFTs, Non-fungible Tokens which are unique digital assets with each token representing a unique value stored on a digital ledger. Why people are intended to trade in is a big question.
Tumblr media
Here is the thing: People are buying these art forms through NFTs because of their uniqueness in society. For the uninitiated, NFT is a one-of-its-kind asset that is not replaceable. It means that the NFT is not exchanged for another ‘identical’ item. NFTs are part of Ethereum in the world of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Dogecoin.
After the whole point of exchange of NFT, cryptocurrency is legal in India. It is not illegal; one can trade in it but the responsibility is oneself since the Indian government doesn’t have a regulatory framework for cryptocurrency. As of now, it is pretty hard to estimate the market size in India. In the sense of trading as an artist Indian creators can place their multimedia, and textual content files for auction over the blockchain-based NFT marketplace which is all online and has different websites/places to sell ownership of their work and earn royalty after that. By mistake, if tokken goes missing you cannot complain about it to the government as per Indian laws.
The gain/loss will be of the person who is trading. The platform where NFTs can be exchanged will allow the interchangeability of digital assets and intellectual properties, including art pieces, audio files, videos, programs and even tweets alongside other digital goods and services. The process is basically, that the artist has to first create the music or video file or any artwork and upload it to a crypto wallet. The money then gets locked into a smart contract i.e. digital contract which only transfers the NFT when payment is received. The files are stored in a crypto wallet to automate the process and eliminate the risk of either party defaulting.
Only cryptocurrencies can be used for the payment of the ownership one bought. As for the copyright or royalty, the artist can decide whether to transfer these rights along with the NFT or only give them for private usage. This will be affirmed in the code. The crypto industry is still trying to figure out what’s going to be the foremost use case for NFTs. However, in recent times, many artists have used it globally to sell their creations in the form of collectables or art while keeping their copyrights undamaged. NFT is data of ownership or bona fides of an asset, not the asset itself. One can only use artwork to upload or similarly something. One does not have a right to modify the art.
After placing their digital assets for auction over the blockchain-based NFT marketplace Indian artists can earn royalty. But, the issue is perceptions of what the buyer is paying for are not simply framed in legal terms. NFT marketplaces do not always accurately describe the value proposition of the goods they are trading. The truth is that the value of any NFT is speculative. Its value is determined by what someone else is willing to reimburse for it and nothing else. When you pay for an NFT, what you get is the right to transfer the token to your digital wallet. The token manifests that your copy of a digital file is the original, like owning an original painting. And just as masterpiece paintings can have many copies and distributed as inexpensive posters, anyone can have a digital copy of your NFT.
Whether or not the current NFT craze can keep its momentum progress, NFTs have already accelerated an immense trend of digital economic innovation. NFTs have confirmed that the public is feeling increasingly favourable toward a crypto-economy and is embracing short-term risks in return for creating new business possibilities. Except in cases where the collector has a personal attachment to the article, investing in an NFT could be a dicey and risky investment for both parties. The high pace of transformation of blockchain technology into a newer, more eco-friendly variant might well decide the future of the NFT market in the short term. Some artists who feel strongly about global warming trends are opposed to NFTs because of their perceived ecological impact as the energy takes a huge amount of electricity to keep it working. The electricity usually comes from power plants that are burning fossil fuels, putting carbon into the atmosphere which is a massive problem. From research, the Ethereum blockchain where most NFTs are traded is consuming 33TWH (terawatt) hours of electricity. The power consumption of the Ethereum blockchain is exploding, The rapid increase has quadrupled in eight months and there is no sign of slowing down.
The art sector will continue to be an important segment of the overall NFT market and is likely to gradually outstretch maturity over the next couple of years, although it is likely to be surpassed by other digital document applications like trademarks and patents, training and upskilling certificates. The NFT market is likely to enlarge further because any piece of digital information can easily be “minted” into an NFT, a highly coherent way of managing and securing digital assets.

The Class Apart
Since the film era began the vision of fantasy life has taken forms in such a manner that for some time it feels real. In everyday life, the eyes follow the mind; in the cinema, the mind follows the eyes. A story of almost 3 hours based on any true event or fiction on white parda to short films, episodes on smartphones, television, technology, and clarity all grow and fascinate the audience. The motion picture sequences represent the past, the future and dreams.
Tumblr media
People watch movies which are easy on the eye, as Indian audiences we prefer stars over stories. Pictorial, graphics, and sound are secondary. And most importantly having a happy ending film is preferable for every single person, Indian or not. In thousands of motion pictures, some of them have a great impact on us, we barely remember the story after a year or two. But when it comes to a life-changing movie or a sequence it remembers all our life.
As film addicts, starting from the history of films all over the world. Roundhay Garden Scene (1888) first ever surviving short film of 1.66 seconds directed by French inventor Louis Le Prince. After Roundhay Garden Scene the first to present projected moving pictures to a paying audience were the Lumière brothers in December 1895 in Paris, France. In the early 1910s, Dhundiraj Govind Phalke popularly known as Dada Saheb Phalke directed and produced a full-length silent film named Raja Harishchandra. On 14th March 1931, Alam Ara directed by Ardeshir Irani a first voiced in but black/ white movie. This is how the entry of film or motion pictures came in India.
Within 5 years a colored film Kisan Kanya directed by Moti B Gidwani released. The evolution of film has increased so rapidly that it's hard to list all of them but suming some superhits of the 90s, Andaz Apna Apna, Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Dil Pagal Hai, Rageela, Virasat. The 21st century is an innovation period and motion pictures like Lagaan(2001), Swades(2004), Omkara(2006), Black Friday(2007), Rockstar(2011), Masaan(2015), Pink(2016) are less appreciated and took back seat over the theatres.
In our previous series ‘The Class Apart’ we bring to you a list of movies that might have missed your eyeballs amid the masala movies, but they have the potential to entertain you, move you and add a new perspective to your sight. These movies are back seated in the lane of highly rated films. Margarita With a Straw is one of them which is about a girl who is on the quest to find love in the ‘normal world’, a teen suffering from cerebral palsy figures out the true source of love; self-love. We give a different aspect of a movie to people to see the true meaning of that film. The movie array has mind-blowing direction and storyline combined with phenomenal and exquisite acting is a concoction of feelings which may make your eyes watery yet leave you with a huge smile.
These films come under some categories. The division of motion pictures is divided into art, feature and slice of life as the viewer wishes to watch. This slice-of-life category is highly preferable and rated as the storyline is subjectively true. These films have a naturalistic representation of real life and an actual life depicting sequences. The lack of action, romance, drama, and comedy impacts a lesser amount of audience. It is neither a hit movie nor a flop. It depends on a life story or sometimes on Indian Indian-preferred audience cast. Some of the films listed are Eighth Grade, Boyhood, As Good As It Gets, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Black, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, English Vinglish, and Queen. Other categories are Feature film, short film, Animated film, Historical film, Biographical film, Silent film, Documentary film, and B film. According to institutes or unions, there are different running times for a film. Most Feature films are between 75 minutes to 210 minutes and short film has a running time of 40 minutes or less.
An art film is typically an independent film, intended to be a service artistic work, often experimental and not designed for mass appeal. These films are made primarily for aesthetic reasons rather than commercial profits. It also contains unconventional, highly symbolic content or a social message. The film focuses on the thoughts, dreams, or motivations of the character. Some of the movies are Udaan, Do Bigha Zamin, Ankur, The LunchBox, The Godfather, Taxi Driver, Taste of Cherry, A Trip to the Moon, and the list goes on.
The feature film is a full package of masala drama, comedy, action, horror, and romance all in one. It can also be said that a Feature film is a combination of art films and a slice-of-life category. There are endless films in the feature film category listing some of them Luka Chuppi, Bhoot, Kabir Singh, Panga, Chalaang, Bala, Chhichhore, King Kong, Blade Runner, Terminator, Minions, Batman. It does consist of dream and motivation but the capacity of other elements are more. The spiciness is in high quantity to which most Indian audiences are attracted. Imaginary vision sometimes has such an impact that changes people's thinking a way to see the world in different aspects.
Technology has taken the film industry from silent, black-and-white films to high-definition movies that are capable of making the audience feel as if they are there, in only a short period. The technology grows within how movies are directed earlier and now. Earlier for just a single shot, it took hours or even days. Now having cameras of high quality, it is comparatively easy to shoot. An additional benefit that comes with disadvantages to clarity is that the single section has to shoot in such a way that not even minor faults are visible. And for audiences, it’s no longer necessary to go to your local theatre to see the one nightly showing of a movie. On-demand, streaming services, and TV have allowed viewers to watch their favourite movies whenever, and wherever, they want.
