i'm a bit late BUT! happy 20th anniversary to code lyoko!
this show was my first hyperfixation and also my first time participating in fandom spaces and was just in general a HUGE part of my formative years, to the point where it's not even nostalgic because it's just an enormous part of my life.
i'm currently rewatching the series and looking forward to many more decades of code lyoko taking over my brain whenever i think about it!

Sorry, but I really need to rant just for a bit. But was anyone else bothered by the way the writers constantly picked on Yumi? She’s always the first one to be devirtualized, or the one to be fall into the Digital Sea constantly and or get attacked by XANA. Yumi's my all-time favorite character from that show and it just sucks to see her get picked on like that, ESPECIALLY in season 3. Even her friendship moments with Aelita seemed to fade in seasons 3 and 4. In Pretender, Aelita didn’t seem that considered that Yumi was severely hurt. Yes, I know they had the time reversal button, but c’mon what if Yumi didn’t make it before Aelita got the tower? And it just felt like the writers tried to make it more heteronormative when we see Aelita be with Odd and Ulrich more on Lyoko, but not with Yumi compared to seasons 1 and 2. Now...this is just what I see, but sometimes I get the feeling that writers want to show Aelita off more than Yumi during seasons 3 and 4. Idk, I just really love Yumi and in Garage Kids, it really seemed like she had a lot of potential. And the second to last episode really pissed me off. I heard that the writers originally were going to consider William actually going into Lyoko, but they changed their minds and instead did the usual “pick on Yumi” thing. It just frustrated me to no end that Yumi gets picked on...ALOT. She really deserves better than how the writers treated her.
