Costume test: Cary Grant for "An Affair To Remember"
The first version, "Love Affair" with Charles Boyer and Irene Dunne, is infinitely better. When it comes to acting Grant couldn't hold Boyer's jock.

Department of What Were They Thinking? Mary Astor looks overjoyed at the costume and hairdo. Bette looks overjoyed with that awful wig.

I've been so sad about Our Flag Means Death's cancellation I haven't been able to watch the show since then. It will just make me cry.

Actually I think RSL was in on it because he's a sneaky subversive sonavabitch. And look at how he played it! But I don't think he was comfortable talking about it the way Hugh was. I wonder what he'd say if the show was now--but we wouldn't have to think about it because they'd be making out in the pilot.
After trying to decide if The Mummy was filmed with the male gaze or female gaze, I’ve come to the conclusion that it was filmed under the Bisexual Gaze. Here’s a list of other films with the Bisexual Gaze:
Jurassic Park
Venom
Every Barbie Film
Night at the museum, but specifically every scene with Jebediah and Octavius
The 2005 Pride and Prejudice
Pirates of the Caribbean
Les Miserables
Newsies
The Hannibal TV Show
Good Omens
Basically, if you look at a film and think “oh my god everyone is attractive why and the film has a bunch of just…super obviously implied queerness, congrats, that’s the Bisexual Gaze baby! Feel free to add to the list

Hello Neil, I know you get quite a few asks, and there’s only a slim chance that you’ll see this, but I figured I’d take that chance. My mom is a huge fan of yours and especially the sandman comics, she used to read them as a teen and has a whole collection, and your works mean a lot to her. She’s struggling right now and feels like her life is going nowhere, and as you seem wise, I was hoping you could offer some words of motivation or inspiration for her. Thank you for taking the time to read this (or not if you didn’t)
When it gets really hard for me I re-read Stephen Fry's letter to someone having a rough time. I hope it helps your mother:

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.
By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.
I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

I love getting comments on my porn! Never had a negative one yet!
Since I work really hard on characterization it's particularly gratifying when a reader "gets" that aspect of it.
PORN WRITERS OF AO3
the #author wants to hear about dead batteries tag has always kinda bugged me, in part because i suspect porn writers who don't want comments about readers getting off to their porn are a small minority of porn writers, which would mean that the norm should be it's cool to comment "do you know how much i masturbate to this", and authors who don't want those comments can have their own tag instead.
but i am speculating wildly, so please reblog and give me some data!
