the thing about jujutsu kaisen is it really is as gay as everybody says and it is equal opportunity about it. yeah whatever the hell satosugu and itafushi got goin on but at the same time nobara’s backstory is like she was plucked out of an angsty yuri and accidentally put into a shonen. then two twin sisters who hate each other are fighting over her. megumi is telling yuji he never once regretted saving yuji and satoru is calling suguru his “one and only” meanwhile nobara talks about her literal ring of keys moment as a kid and thinking of her childhood best friend in her final moments. a BL and a GL at the same time we just don’t have time to unpack all of that bc bitches are dying left and right

in my post-banana fish depression I am reminded of how watching brought back many memories of my middle school hyperfixation, The Outsiders.

I'm not sure if it was inspo for the manga when it was written and I'm probably not the first to draw connections between the works.

The view I had of Ponyboy and Johnny's relationship back then differs slightly from how I see Ash and Eiji's now. I see a mix of them both between the two Greasers. But, the parallels between both pieces still strike me.

The parts that reminded me the most as I watched the anime were the Cape Cod scenes and time in the condo vs. Ponyboy and Johnny's stay in the church. They were moments of peace amidst the main struggle and before the final tragedies. I appreciated the peek into normalcy, domesticity but I felt the dread of the impending doom.

I am 13 all over again, hurt just as deeply.
