Often times I think about just how much Linhardt is attached to Byleth when he’s in their class and it makes me feel a little ill.

There is a chapter in White Clouds where if you choose to explore the monastery, you will find Linhardt in the library, and because the customs of “hello, how are you today?” just never cross he minds, he just spontaneously vents about how he fears he may become a social recluse. Recounting how he only ever leaves his room to go to the library and the dining hall, and if he wasn’t in your class, he’d say he’d probably never leave his room at all.

Kind of a weird thing for him to say, but he’s probably just exaggerating so whatever.

If you choose any route that isn’t Crimson Flower and recruit Linhardt, you’ll obviously meet him at the monastery after the timeskip. Where he says how we was just at home ok the empire but came by because he was just hoping to see you (Byleth).

But like… that meant joining and being a part of the war against the empire.

Linhardt makes it obvious he isn’t very attached to the empire but it’s kind of a big part of Linhardt’s character that he hates being a part of the war and especially a part of the fighting, he had no stake in this war at all and didn’t have to be a part of it and only chose to do so just to be with Byleth.

In his supports with Catherine, Linhardt says pretty bluntly that he’s willing to die for the sake of his research, so it is possible that he just follows Byleth into WAR for the sake of getting to research their crest further. That being said, even in their A support he admits that a lot of it is just so he has an excuse to spend time with them.

I take a slight bit of solace taking this information as a sign that he’s just as attached to me as Byleth as I am attached to him.
