The best fics are the ones that recognize that although Luke Skywalker may APPEAR on the outside to be a normal friendly twink who happens to have cool powers, especially when contrasted with such ship partners as Boba or Din or even Han, he is arguably the scariest person alive in the galaxy around the prequel era. AND, crucially, he is also a fundamentally weird guy. This man was homeschooled on a rural farm his entire life and then apprenticed to a swamp gremlin who showed him how to tap into the cosmic power of the universe. He blew up the death star age 19, killing approx 2 million-ish Imperials. He is a vortex of Force power that can communicate with the ghosts of dead Jedi. He’s staring into the distance and mumbling to himself and doing Yoda aphorisms and casually pulling out the “yeah I could crush that guy into a paste with my mind (:” and nobody around him knows what to do with that. I think he is a character who has very little frame of reference for how a Jedi or a person in general is supposed to act and there is some thing about him that is by necessity really fucking weird and a little scary but he’s so nice that it can throw you off the scent a little bit. Thanks for coming to my TED talk

The 212th colors are endlessly fascinating to me, because it's clearly orange, but the fact that Obi-Wan is likely aware of Mandalorian color symbolism and the idea that he chose it and chose to call it gold? Like? What happened?
Palpatine: Master Kenobi, why are you so insistent on this color?
Obi-Wan, sweating: It's gold, it stands for vengeance in Mandalorian culture.
Palpatine: It's orange, though?
Obi-Wan, hoping Jango Fett's ghost doesn't slit his throat in his sleep for this: Mandalorians see color differently.
Palpatine, known racist old white man: Ah, I see, carry on.
Obi-Wan, to his troops fifteen minutes later: Listen, idk your relationship with Mandalorian culture, but this color? Orange means freedom. By death or in life, you will take your freedom eventually.
The 212th, who just fucking met him: ????
Obi-Wan: But if anyone asks it's gold and means vengeance and Mandalorian humans don't see color the same as other humans because of their Taung ancestry or something like that. This is very important because I just lied to the Supreme Chancellor's face about it lmao

Listen, listen Rampart deserve to be beaten up but after that I want this man to become a Rebel.
I don’t know why I just think it would be really funny if in a few years when the Batch end up helping out the Rebels or whatever and there liaison is Captain ‘I’ve had character development against my will’ Rampart.
Crosshairs smugly: ‘what’s that about being loyal to no one but yourself?’
Rampart: ‘I am going to kill you!’

So maybe I’m a bit late to the part but I don’t think the Acolyte being critical of the Jedi is an inherently bad thing?
Like the Jedi are obviously going to be the Jedi! These are the good guys. They’re going to be helping people and fighting the dark side because they’re the Jedi!
From what I can see it’s an exploration of how the Jedi we see in the High Republic who really are these beacons of good serving a truly good and great Republic become the Jedi from the prequels, who are still good and trying to do the right thing, but are serving a deeply flawed Republic. I think that’s something genuinely interesting to explore.
The Jedi always have good intentions but they’re still an institution and no institution is perfect. And it’s kind of cool to explore that. And hopefully it will be done in an interesting way in the Acolyte.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but why do so many people think that criticizing the Jedi is bad? The Jedi are and were never perfect. They can never be a perfect order who does everything right and never makes mistakes. Frankly, I can write an entire essay on their flaws.
It is okay that they were flawed. That doesn’t mean you can’t root for them. I root for them. I deeply love them and their lore. The Great Jedi Purge was a tragedy that they didn’t deserve. But acting like they’re an untouchable institution is not only just straight up wrong, but also just really boring?? The imperfections of the Order and those involved give the Jedi nuance and make them feel incredibly real and interesting. Things are not black and white in Star Wars. Let yourself feel conflicted about the Jedi and wish for them to succeed anyway. It’s more exciting that way, I promise.

Longing (The River of Ash)
This one is for you two @ivvmell @ominouspuff cause you both chose the same palette for Fox. The vibe changed midway through so I ended up taking a lot of liberties with the execution
I probably won't be taking any new requests cause a lot have piled up and I'm not even sure I can finish the ones already there. Just a heads up
