The New and Vast World of Sports Training
Technology has become more and more prevalent in our every day tasks. It has put the world at our finger tips and has made tasks simpler and more reachable. Technology has no limits, and sports training is no exception. At Edufii, we are very proud of our application, but we also have a deep respect and interest in other training applications. Here are a couple of apps we think are cool:
  Endomondo:
Endomodo allows users to train and get into shape with their friends. Users can create a social community with their friends, challenge them, share their results, and encourage them. The app uses GPS to track routes, distance, duration, calorie consumption, and more. Users can use the app to track where their friends are or to gather a group together to train.
Golf Card:
This golf app has a built in scorecard, keeps track of statistics, and range finder. It also allows users access to a live leader board.
Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy:
This app provides in depth tutorials and commentary from Rafael Nadal. This app uses Vstrator to let users upload videos of themselves and put them side by side of a video of Nadal to compare how they match up.
And of course, our very own Edufii:
Edufii allows the collaboration of athletes, parents and coaches in one application. Coaches and athletes are able to upload videos, photos, and training notes to keep one another in sync with their progress. At the moment we are focusing on using our application with golf, but the app can be used for virtually any sport! Edufii can also be connected to email, texts, YouTube and Facebook so that all progress and training can be quickly and easily communicated. Edufii allows the right people to collaborate to save time and build better athletes faster. Check out Edufii here: www.edufii.com

Our very own Spencer Dennis’ student, Amelia McKee, will be participating in Nature Valley’s First Tee Open at Pebble Beach beginning on Monday. Amelia is one of only 81 juniors from around the country to be selected by The First Tee to participate in the tournament! We are so proud of her! She is one of Edufii’s very first users and has been using it to enhance her training and lessons with her coaches, Edufii co-founder - Spencer Dennis, Fitness Trainer - Michael Hughes, and Mental Trainer - Jeff Troesch.
Amelia is only 14 and has been playing golf since she was 7. In addition to competitively playing golf herself, she is also a mentor at The First Tee of the Central Coast. She hopes to one day compete in the Olympics and be a successful golfer on the LPGA Tour.
The First Tee Open tournament is composed of foursomes including a Champions Tour Player, an accomplished junior player (which is what Amelia is playing as), and two paying amateurs. This allows spectators to view players of all different skill levels.
Good luck Amelia! We’re cheering for you!

Golf Carts of the Future
Think having a regular golf cart is enough? Think again! Mercedes recently just released the design sketches of a "Vision Golf Cart." The futuristic golf cart is powered by a battery which collects energy from solar panels installed on top of the vehicle. The golf cart is controlled by a joystick rather than a steering wheel, which is located in the middle instead of just the drivers side. This allows the driver to sit in either the drivers seat or the passengers seat. Unfortunately, the cart is not for sale yet, but here is a photo of the design to help you get a better idea of this vehicle.
Tumblr media
http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/07/26/behold-the-mercedes-golf-cart-of-the-future/
If the Mercedes golf cart doesn't impress you, here is another golf cart we may start seeing in the future as well.
Tumblr media
http://www.pga.com/golf-equipment/golf-buzz/buy-your-own-hovercraft-golf-cart
This golf cart/hovercraft, unlike the Mercedes cart, is available for purchase--although the asking price is $58,000. This hovercraft weighs about 600 pounds but is able to reach up to 45mph while remaining 9" above ground. This allows users to race across a course without harming grass, but more importantly, allows the user to easily cross ponds.
These two carts are extremely impressive and innovative. It's exciting to see what the future holds for golf and other sports! At Edufii, we believe the combination of technology and the athlete will help improve performance. We're very excited to be a part of the future!

13th Annual NAOAGA Championship Tournament
You're probably asking yourself what in the world does NAOAGA stand for...well the answer is the North American One-Armed Golfer Association. Haven't heard of it? Not many people have, but this organization has been a saving grace to many of its members and an inspiration to onlookers since its establishment. NAOAGA even has their annual members' championship tournament coming up on August 20th through the 23rd in Palm Beach.
John Barton is one of the founding members of NAOAGA. When he was 60 years old John was working on top of a 40 foot pole when he fell into a live power line. 7,460 volts surged into his body and lit him on fire. He awoke in a burn unit 4 1/2 months later and was told he would never speak or walk again. Well, John proved them wrong and after 109 surgeries the only major disability he was left with was an amputated left arm and shoulder. However, he did begin to suffer from depression due to limited mobility. With encouragement from a few therapists, John bought a set of golf clubs and joined a club. "It was my rehab and it's brought me from the chair to walking," John explained. He helped establish the NAOAGA after competing in tournaments put on by the National Amputee Golf Association and feeling like golfers with amputated arms and legs should compete separately.
People like John are such an inspiration to other athletes. They have to overcome so many obstacles besides the game itself that most people never have to deal with. Support teams such as coaches, parents, friends, and fans are what keep them motivated and focused on the game even when they feel like giving up at times. Edufii understands the importance of these support teams and allows its members to connect and interact with them via TrainingSpaces. We believe that collaboration leads to better and faster results.

How Well Do You Know the New PGA Champ?
Most of you probably know that Jason Dufner won his first major on Sunday at the PGA Championship. What you may not know, however, is that just 5 years ago Dufner was only ranked somewhere between No. 650 and 700 in the world. With the help of Chuck Cook, Dufner has made unbelievable progress in such a short amount of time.
“He helped me realize my potential. I’d still be around 650 in the world if I hadn’t met him.”
Tumblr media
Amanda Dufner also shared some fun, unknown facts about her PGA Champion husband:
1. As a child he was into baseball and basketball. All his friends called him hot dog.
2. He hates tomatoes.
3. He loves to watch all college football games but Auburn football is like watching his family out there.
4. He is beyond organized. He always makes lists for everything. He carries them around in paper notebooks but also has a back up on his computer.
5. His grandparents came over from Germany so as a child he always ate authentic German food — and still loves it.
6. He wasn’t raised in the south but is a true southern gentleman. He always opens the door for me.
7. He doesn’t read the newspaper but checks out the news on his iPad every morning… including TMZ.
8. He is fascinated by animals. He can sit at the zoo for hours just watching one animal.
9. He can’t wait to be a dad. I think he will be amazing. That will be his true calling.
10. He is from Ohio —- and loves Skyline Chili. We happened to pass one in Tampa while on TOUR and now we have to hit it up every year. This year we ate there four nights in a row!!
11. He is a statistics junky pertaining to all sports — not just golf. He can answer the most random questions from even the most obscure teams and seasons.
12. As a child he remembers riding around in his dad’s Dodge Challenger. That has always been his dream car to have one customized. Finally after five years of deliberation he got it!
13. He is very involved with the Auburn University golf team. He loves mentoring the boys and helping in any way he can. I think maybe when he retires he would love to become some type of consultant for the team.
14. He is the most loyal person I have ever met. He has had the same caddie for over 12 years, the majority of his friends have been around for years and he always stays true to his team.
15. He loves to collect sports memorabilia. He will even carry around items if there is even a small chance he can get a signature.
16. He would drink 10 Coca-Colas a day if I would let him.
17. He only listens to rap music. He probably would love to hang out with Rick Ross (The Boss) one day.
18. He is so funny. Once he gets to know you he will keep you laughing!

The First Tee and Edufii
Tumblr media
The First Tee is a non-profit organization established by the World Golf Foundation in 1997.  The First Tee was started as a way to expose more people to the game of golf with an affordable option, and has since become a youth development organization that teaches important life skills.  The First Tee and their coaches teach essential life values using the “Nine Core Values” inherent to golf that their athletes transfer into everyday life.
Edufii will be highly beneficial to First Tee athletes by reinforcing what they are taught about the Nine Core Values and specifically Responsibility, Perseverance.  Responsible athletes who are dedicated to mastering their skills reap the most benefit from Edufii by consistently tracking progress.  And progress requires the perseverance to turn struggles into learning experiences and continually hone in the right judgment for the best results.  Edufii isn’t making skill development easy; we’re making hard work more rewarding for the athletes who care about living up to their potential.
Tumblr media
The First Tee coaches are more than golf instructors; they’re role models impacting millions of members.  Edufii will be able to strengthen these essential coach-athlete relationships, and keep parents updated and involved, every step of the way.  First Tee athletes will be able to capture, review, and relive priceless moments for the rest of their lives, using Edufii.  They will be able to share these moments with their parents, friends, and anyone else taking part in their progress.
Edufii is working with The First Tee Central Coast to provide TrainingSpaces to coaches and athletes within the organization.  Edufii will help make the coaching athlete relationship richer and more productive, while helping parents be more involved with their children’s development.  We’ve launched our Indiegogo campaign at www.golfersaremade.com to welcome The First Tee into the Edufii Generation and continue fueling software development.

Pre-Launch Party Recap
We had all had an AWESOME time at our Pre-Launch party thanks to everyone who was able to make it.  There were 100+ people with us for the sneak preview of our upcoming Indiegogo campaign video; and we can’t wait to share it with the rest of the world!
Tumblr media
The new edufii banner was up to welcome all of our guests along with the irresistible smell of Klondike’s Pizza that met them at the door!  It was 4am in Belarus so Dmitry wasn’t able to make it but Kirk, Michael, Nizar, and Eric, from edufii’s development team enjoyed spending time with everyone at the party via webcam, (it’s just too bad they missed out on all the food!)
Tumblr media
Some of our campaign celebrities from the video made it to the party: Amelia McKee, the young golf phenom, Michael Hughes, the mastermind of the Gymnazo fitness program, and our behind the scenes star Josh Brinkerhoff, at Culprit Media Group, who did a fantastic job putting the video together!  Josh put in long hours of editing but really nailed the campaign message before featuring the animation on our homepage, created by Something Else Productions.
We had a few “local celebrities” worth mentioning as well.  Jim Coles and Golf Pro Marathons are the best non-profit golf event organizer around.  Jim Delaby, one of the best and most respected golf coaches in the area, was also in attendance.  Jonathan York from Cal Poly’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is an integral part of the local Entrepreneurship community.  Jon joined us to support edufii and a few of his Capstone Entrepreneurship students involved with edufii as Brand Champions.  Billy Gibbs and Darren Avrit of The First Tee made it to the party to show their support for edufii and we cannot be more ecstatic to have them involved in the edufii movement.  We can’t wait to return the support to their budding athletes.
Tumblr media
Thanks again to everyone who made it to the Pre-Launch party and for those of you that couldn’t, fear not because there will be plenty of reason to celebrate soon!  The edufii generation of athletes will be launching next week and you can be one of the first people to get on board while also helping out The First Tee California and Special Olympics Central Coast chapter!
