People seem to not know how old writers are when they make their stories.
Stephanie Meyer wrote Twilight in 2003, at age 29
Cassandra Clare started writing Mortal Instruments in 2004, at age 31
Rick Riordan published Percy Jackson & the Olympians, the book about 12yrolds, at age 41
George R. R. Martin published A Game of Thrones, at age 48
You can't even use the "but fanfiction isn't real writing" argument because of how many fanfiction turn movies there is. They are clearly enough of a story to be made into published books.
Anna Renee Todd's After series was a Harry Styles fanfiction, which was published in 2014, when she was 25
E.L. James Fifty Shades of Grey series was a Twilight fanfiction, which was published in 2011, when she was 48
Mortal Instruments was a Harry Potter fanfiction.
Why must they act like After someone turns 20 their life ends, like people can't have hobbies???

13: “What would you do if I kissed you right now?” / “Obviously, I’d kiss you back.”
You were both sitting in the common room: you lying on the couch, fiddling with your fingers; Draco perched in the armchair, reading into a tome.
Sigh. Glancing at Draco, your new-to-be boyfriend, you attempted to catch his attention in the most pettish way you could think of. Apparently, that seemed to work because he gave you a side glance from behind the book and arched his brow which indicated his heed was up to your disposition.
“Draco...” you drawled, bored. His gander finally traveled directly to your stretched posture. That was a trigger for you to continue. “I want to do something.”
“Then busy yourself with something.” He shrugged. “Read a book, write an essay, go for a stroll-”
“But I don't want that!” Somehow, the fact he didn't take a hint on what you had tried to communicate set you angry. “I want to do something with you! Cuddle, for example...”
Cooped up in one place, you felt a sudden urge to rush to him and snog him until the wind was knocked out of him. You contemplated.
“Oh, you know I can't do that. I have to turn in the fucking summarization of the usage of mundane sprouts tomorrow.” He gestured at the tome in his grip. “As much as I’d like to cuddle or whatever else your pretty mind might think of, I have to focus on the task first, you know.”
You turned around, both understanding and flustered, and exhaled. From time to time, you tried to think of how much you appreciated Draco’s atypical predisposition, conscientious and diligent, and never able to leave the work undone. And you admired how devoted he could be to his goals. However when it came to one of those moments, when you required his undivided attention, it honestly felt like a jinx.
And you really required his undivided attention now. Even your inner compunction couldn't stop you at this point.
Not able to resist to urge for physical contact, within seconds you found yourself settled on your boyfriend's laps, grinning like a maniac. You tore the book out of his hold, ignoring his hiss, threw it somewhere in the corner of the room, and clung closer. For mere second, you expected him to push you away for what you had done, so you were pleasantly surprised when his strong arms snaked around your waist and dragged you closer to him.
“You know I sometimes hate you, right?” he said, but there was a definite amusement in his voice.
“I know you love me,” you teased back.
“Hate you.”
“Love me.”
“Hate you.”
You withdrew a little so that you could get a better view of his countenance. “What would you do if I kissed you right now then?”
“Obviously, I’d kiss you back.” With ardor, he responded, his grin widening. He moved his palm to the lingering strands of your hair, swirling them a couple of times, before flipping them behind your ear. “So what now?”
“You tell me.”
“How about...” He arched his brow funnily enough to earn a mild giggle from you. He always did this mien to amuse you, and magically it always worked. “I finish reading this chapter. Out loud if you prefer. And then we can go to my dorm and enjoy rest of a day. How is that?”
“It sounds like a plan,” you said, satisfied with the turn of actions. “And I know precisely what we are gonna do afterwards.”
A grin engraved on his lips, finally taking a note.

summary: y/n y/l/n, an american witch with a fascination for the dark arts, is wrenched from her home to study abroad during a period of political turmoil. things were complicated enough without draco malfoy crashing into her life. 6th year slightly canon divergent fic/slight soulmate AU (if soulmate aus really aren’t your thing, dw. this is still a slowburn)
WARNINGS: this is a very dark fic. be warned. mentions of domestic terrorism, bigotry, slut shaming, explicit language, allusions to sex, violence, mild gore.

a/n: so i’ve sat on this request for a hot min. idk why i stopped writing it but i’m pretty sure i stopped bc i was like damn i did not need to go this hard on a request and put my whole drawlfussy into making draco a horrible human being fjkd;salf. this is the most negative portrayal of him on my blog. i am legally obligated to tell u that if any of this draco’s behaviors or sayings remind you of your partner i implore you to leave him/her. not to wax philosophical or anything but my last relationship was not super great and i left without getting to say anything that i rlly wanted to say to them. the ending is a bit cathartic for me as it’s everything that i wish i had a chance to do :) i hope u enjoy.

Harry Potter Writing Event
hi again! at this point a few of us are still working out the kinks to try and figure out as to how to make this celebration even happen lol
my wonderful friends @war-sword and @drawlfoy have made a discord server for this event so that anyone who wishes to participate can join and we can all discuss how we’d prefer to run this
if you responded to my original post in a way that led me to assume you would be contributing some writing to this event, i most likely dmed you the discord link and you’re all set to join!
if you did not receive a dm from me, it is either because
a) i am stupid
b) you’re a minor, or
c) i have no idea how old you are
there are certain precautions taken to this server to make it safe for everyone! to be clear: this server will only be used to discus the writing of fan fictions for this event, and how this event will be run
as someone who is not a minor, and per request by others as well, no one under the age of 14 is permitted to join this server!!!!!!!!!
that’s a boundary and everyone is expected to abide by it with no exceptions

please learn to respect writers and their boundaries. we all have our own lives outside of fic and each have our own schedules for writing and as such and we can't go around penalising ppl just because we think they don't write fast enough for our liking.
no need to go off on ppl who love your writing😕i wasn't the person who wrote that message and maybe you don't mean anything bad but it came off really harsh and ruthless. they're probably just very excited and you could simply just say that its not finished yet. as a writer myself i think that was rude on your behalf.
hey, i totally understand where you’re coming from. i tried to say that as nicely as i could but i’ve gotten so many messages asking why it’s taking so long/telling me when to post the next chapter/etc that i keep giving the same answer to and it’s getting quite overwhelming at this point as this is a really big project for me and getting those messages make me feel like i’m consistently letting people down by taking care of myself. i would’ve responded differently if i haven’t already answered “it’s not finished yet, please just be patient” to roughly a dozen messages prior. if sharing my emotions on my blog/setting boundaries with my reader base is too harsh in your opinion, then i respect that but i disagree

May I request for Draco Malfoy in which the reader is a muggle born Gryffindor and she has to go get lab work done for surgery and is nervous about so Draco goes with her? When he goes with her, he’s impressed while he watches her gets some small blood work done as she doesn’t even flinch at needles maybe because he has a small fear of them himself, but won’t admit it? Thank you in advance! :)
