Goggles and Rider with the prompt: "You can admit you're hurting, you know? It's okay to not be okay."
GORAI <3 as a note, i think the way i write goggles is... different than how people usually write him? mine is more down to earth so uh. lol, be aware of that.
-
He found Rider sitting on the railings outside the Squid Sisters' studio, up on the second floor viewing platform in the plaza.
It was overcast and hazy grey. It was supposed to rain, and most inkfish weren't willing to risk being caught outside. The few who remained outside walked around with umbrellas hooked over their arms. When Goggles stopped to look, Rider didn't have one.
"Hey Rider," Goggles greeted as he drew closer, offering a small smile. Without waiting for a response, he sat down on the platform, letting his legs hang freely off the side of it and resting his arms on the railings Rider was sitting on. "We missed you in turf today."
Rider grunted, but said nothing. He wasn't a talkative person by any means, but he always had at least something to say. The silence now felt wrong.
Goggles looked up at him, taking in the sight of him. Rider wouldn't even look at him, and wasn't even making any efforts to be his usual standoffish self. He just looked upset, in a way that only he could be.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" Goggles asked.
Rider huffed out a deep sigh from his nose, and finally, turned his head to look down at Goggles.
"Nothing to talk about," he said, a terse edge in his voice.
Goggles stayed silent at that, looking out over Inkopolis plaza. He wouldn't hesitate to be his usual silly self if Rider wasn't so off. Somehow, he knew acting like everything was fine would serve to tip this delicate situation into something worse.
"That's okay," he said instead. "I can just... stay here with you."
"Do what you want," Rider grumbled, which was about as close to a yes as he was going to get.
Goggles smiled again, scooting a little closer and resting his chin on the fold of his arms. He let his feet swing idle and free over the edge of the platform and gazed down at the plaza. There was hardly an inkfish in sight by now, which probably meant it was going to rain soon. Sliding his phone out of his pocket, he checked the forecast.
"It's about to storm," he said, pocketing his phone and lifting his head. "Specs told me it would before I left home this morning but I forgot so I didn't bring an umbrella."
Rider grunted again, and said nothing.
"Hey," Goggles said, scooting closer again. Gently, he nudged his head against Rider's leg. "If something's hurting you, I won't judge. It's okay to not be okay."
Rider lifted his head to look down at Goggles again. The stoic expression on his face was cracking, but Goggles didn't point it out.
"Just... had a shitty morning," Rider finally said, his voice quiet. "Didn't feel like being around a lot of other people after that."
Goggles nodded, but didn't press for any more details. Instead, he let his head rest against Rider's leg, staring down at the plaza. "I get it. We all have bad days. But, I've always got my friends to get me through it, because I know they care more about me being okay than anything else."
"You suck at being subtle," Rider said, and Goggles shocked himself with a laugh. The yellow-green inkling huffed out a sound that might have been amused, shaking his head. "I'm surprised you even tried."
"Well, I thought you wouldn't like it if I just said stuff the way I normally do," Goggles protested, still giggling despite everything. "I can be blunt if you want."
"I thought being blunt was the only thing you knew how to do," Rider said dryly, and Goggles laughed harder.
"Sorry," the blue inkling wheezed, wiping at his eyes and grinning up at Rider. "I just care about you a lot."
Rider's face twisted up into something funny, and he quickly turned his face away. Goggles had already seen the yellow-green tint in his dark cheeks, though.
"I care about you," Goggles nearly sang, and watched the pointed tips of Rider's ears turn that same yellow-green color too. He nudged the other inkling with a grin and a giggle. "And I'm totally here for you if you're ever feeling not okay."
Rider sighed, lifting a hand to rub at his cheek. He still wasn't looking at Goggles, but Goggles could imagine the flustered expression on his face.
"Thanks," Rider murmured, the tension in his shoulders fading away. He didn't say anything else, but this time, the silence felt right.
Goggles pulled himself up to stand, offering a hand to Rider. "C'mon, we should probably get inside somewhere before it starts raining."
The yellow-green inkling looked at him, a tint of ink lingering in his cheeks. It made the hearts in Goggles' chest flutter.
Rider reached out.

-
The roof of the apartment building was cold against the flat of his back, and Skull stared up at the fireworks popping with deep booms overhead in showers of color. The sounds of the Splatfest were muffled by distance, the cheering of a crowd nothing more than a soft buzz on the night horizon.
"Hey." A light poke to his arm snapped him to reality, and Skull turned his head to look at Aviators, who smiled and lay beside him. "Lost in thought?"
Skull shrugged, turning his face back up to the sky. After another moment, he tugged his bandana down, breathing in the night air without the fabric blocking its way.
Avi raised a brow behind his glasses. "Okay, I guess it's that kind of night." And without any hesitation, he removed his aviators from his face and tucked them into the pocket of his squid satin jacket.
Aviators didn't uncover his eyes often, if not at all. Similarly, Skull didn't tend to uncover the lower half of his face. That they were able to do such things with each other that they didn't around others felt reassuring and comfortable. Skull let the feelings wash over him.
"Feels different than before," Skull said, staring up at the sky. "Splatfest."
It was their first one since Team Blue had shown up and kicked their asses in that rematch. Skull had forgotten what winning a turf war and a ranked battle was supposed to feel like. The effortless wins made everything feel monotonous. Even splatfests had become boring.
But for some reason, it wasn't boring anymore. The sky was filled with color now. Skull barely remembered what his first splatfest felt like, the joy and thrill of that first party when he was younger, but he imagined it probably felt something like this. His chest felt as though it might burst. He didn't really understand why.
Avi shrugged, scooting closer to where Skull lay and poking his shoulder again.
"Different good, or different bad?" Avi asked.
"I... can't tell." Skull continued to stare at the sky, and Avi continued to stare at Skull. He knew what Avi's eyes looked like. He was probably the only one who did.
"Well if it's not bad, it's probably alright I think."
Skull only watched the stars, a churning feeling in his hearts. He'd failed, hadn't he? Wasn't strength all that mattered?
"Do you... ever miss Vintage and Omega?"
Avi made a surprised noise at the question, but when Skull turned to look at him, he went quiet. He remained silent for a moment, before turning his face towards the stars and away from Skull's piercing gaze. "Honestly? Yeah, sometimes."
His hearts sank in his chest. He couldn't bring himself to look away from Avi's face. "Do you regret coming with me?"
"Dude, what?" Avi snorted out a disbelieving laugh. "Nah."
"But... Team Purple isn't... We lost to-" Skull could hardly get the words out, huffing in frustration when his throat closed up and nothing slipped through anymore.
"You think I'm staying with you just because you're strong?" Avi shook his head with a laugh. "C'mon, Skull. I'm with you until all the stars fall out of the sky, and even then I'd never leave you behind. I don't care what team I'm on so long as you're there too. If we win, if we lose, that doesn't matter to me. Only you do."
The declaration rendered him speechless. Unable to find the words, Skull reached a hand down and took the one Avi had been poking him with.
Avi paused, glancing down at their joined hands before lifting his face and smiling at Skull.
"I'm with you," Aviators repeated, the bright colors of the fireworks overhead reflecting in his eyes. "No matter what."
Skull squeezed the hand in his own and found a smile on the corners of his lips.

some social media interaction culture breakdowns, as far as i can tell this is how these things work :3 i did this for fun and for my own amusement, so i probably got some of these wrong. please do not bite my head off. im willing to make corrections!
the differences between tumblr, twitter, cohost, and pillowfort! as far as i can tell, bsky is a twitter copy/paste, just with better site usage quality.
likes:
tumblr: do nothing. most people use this as either a bookmarking system or a "hey i saw your post and i like it". you can hide them; most do.
twitter: influence followers homefeed and algorithm. you can't hide them.
cohost: do nothing. this is for specifically "hey i saw your post and i like it". they can only be accessed by you; there's no way to make them public.
pillowfort: do nothing. this is for specifically "hey i saw your post and i like it". there is no way to access your own likes at all.
re- blog/tweet/share
tumblr: called a reblog. you can reblog with tags AND commentary, though most only reblog with tags instead of reblogging with commentary (ive seen this described as the difference between whispering to someone in an auditorium vs shouting something in an auditorium for everyone to hear)
twitter: separated into retweets and QRTs. a retweet is a direct share to your followers on their timeline with no way to add commentary, and a QRT is an embed of someone else's post with your commentary at the top, which makes it an original post.
cohost: called a share or a rechost, similar to how tumblr's system works, but the commentary culture is different. it's more common to add commentary in the post body, and discouraged to talk in the tags (based on how tagging works sitewide)
pillowfort: called a reblog, similar to how tumblr's system works, but the commentary culture is different. it's more common to share with no commentary before adding commentary, and not really common to talk in the tags. pillowfort replies are mostly where commentary happens.
replies/comments:
tumblr: unlike twitter, tumblr replies ARE NOT their own posts. they're like DMs between you and the OP, except everyone can see these messages and join in on the conversation.
twitter: replies are their own post! they function similarly to how tumblr reblog threads work, but with more limited visibility
cohost: called comments and work like tumblr replies, BUT, are able to be threaded like AO3 comments. these are actually the ONLY interactions visible for anyone to see on a post!
pillowfort: called comments, and work like tumblr replies, BUT, are able to be threaded like AO3 comments.
tags:
tumblr: TAGS ARE VERY FREE. tags are both a sorting system BUT also a way to whisper your thoughts on someone's post that you've reblogged. you can make up your own tags for your own personal blog sorting system, or keysmash your reaction to cute art. tumblr culture involves a LOT of "tag talking", in which people don't actually put their overall commentary in the body of a post, but the tags of it when they're reblogging it. when making an original post, only the first five tags are counted. tags on reblogged posts do NOT show up in tumblr search.
twitter: tags are more formal from what i can tell. they go directly in the body of a post and are an explicit way to sort posts into topics and categories. tags on replies and QRTs DO show up in twitter search.
cohost: tags are more formal like twitter, but function visibly similar to tumblr tags. they go beneath a post and are the only way to search cohost (so its not common to talk in the tags). however, unlike tumblr, all tags from every user in a rechost chain are visible and searchable in shared posts. tags on rechosted posts DO show up in cohost search (from what i can tell, it's discouraged to re-tag a share of a post to prevent accidentally spamming a tag, since the tags of the OP will transparently carry over into the rechost).
pillowfort: exactly like tumblr, without the five tag limit and without the tag talking culture. tags on reblogged posts do NOT show up in pillowfort search.
followers:
tumblr: mean nothing. if you have a lot of followers that's probably bad actually because it means you're infamous. you're the tumblr clown and everyone's watching you flail around. clout doesnt exist. you can also hide who you're following on tumblr like with likes, again, most do hide this.
twitter: clout. clout clout clout. followers is good. followers means you're famous. you can't hide this information, nor can you hide who you yourself are following.
cohost: mean nothing, but doubly so. there is absolutely no way to see how many followers you have, nor how many followers anybody has, nor who is following who. you can view your own followers, but there's no number count and nobody else can view this.
pillowfort: an odd mix of all three of the above. hidden entirely like cohost, viewable numbers like tumblr, and some sense of clout-dignity like twitter. in actuality, most users follow Pillowfort's user-created communities rather than other users specifically.
feeds:
tumblr: if you're an old user, your default is called your dashboard, in which you only get posts from the people and tags you follow. if you're a new user, (allegedly) your default is the "For You" feed. there are separate feeds separated into tabs at the top; other than the "For You" feed, you're able to customize what tabs you want to see and switch between. a half and half compromise between algorithm/no algorithm. it's there if you want it, avoidable if you don't.
twitter: you've got your "For You" and your "Following" feed (also called TL or timeline). im unsure which is set as the default, but "For You" is listed first so it's probably that. while the following feed is self-explanatory, the "For You" feed shows you posts that users you follow have liked as well as posts based on an algorithm around that. the algorithm knows all.
cohost: you also have two feeds here - "Latest Posts" and "Bookmarked Tags". Latest Posts are from those you've followed, while Bookmarked Tags is a feed you can build based on which tags you've bookmarked. there's no algorithm at all!
pillowfort: only one feed, composed entirely of posts from users you follow and communities you're in/following. no algorithm!
search:
tumblr: only the tumblr wizards know how this fucking thing works (affectionate). sitewide search brings up both text in the body of the post as well as tags. clicking on a specific tag will give you posts that have been specifically tagged with the tag. blog search is similar but it breaks often.
twitter: hell. sitewide search brings up both text in the body of the post as well as tags AS WELL AS every post made by a user who has the searched term in their goddamn handle. clicking on a specific tag will give you posts that have been specifically tagged with the tag. profile search does not exist unless you know the secret codes to put in the url.
cohost: the site can ONLY be searched via tags that exist already. blogs here can only be searched via clicking on a specific tag. however, cohost provides toggles within every blog so users can toggle on or off a user's shares, replies, and asks to their hearts delight, which makes blog scrolling customizable to the users preference
pillowfort: sitewide search is how tumblr's search is supposed to work, AND way more stable. blog search can be searched only through clickable tags, but you're also able to view only original posts or only reblogs on someone's blog.
blacklisting, blocking, muting, muffling, making posts with sensitive content
tumblr: you're able to build a blacklist based on tags, and you're able to block users. "community labels" are a predetermined set of labels users can apply to both their posts and reblogs of other people's posts, and can be toggled to the user's preference
twitter: there is no blacklist, but a "muted word" list that you can customize. there is sensitive content filtering, but it's only under a generalized "sensitive content" warning. you can mute a user if you'd rather not block, which means you won't see their posts or when they interacting with you. you are also able to block users outright.
cohost: you can set a customized "content warning" on a post for others to click through, similar to twitter's sensitive content warning, but able to be customized as needed. you can blacklist OR whitelist content warnings. for tag filtering, you can muffle (requiring a click-through) or silence (hide completely). you can mark a post as 18+ very easily. you can toggle and customize the way posts on your feed display.
pillowfort: filters and blacklist are easily accessible on the sidebar rather than hidden in the settings. however, 18+ posts can only be toggled on or off (shown or entirely hidden), there is no click-through option. you can blacklist "words and tags" all at once, or just blacklist tags, to your discretion.
posting:
tumblr: as long or short as you want. tons of different ways to post, images, videos, audio, links, ect. some VERY basic code is allowed. it USED to be go nuts show nuts, but...
twitter: theres a 300(?) character limit and a four images per post limit. you can pay money for more post characters. 18+ is more limited than other sites, but allowed.
cohost: very basic posting editor. you can code html, css, and basic markdown straight into the post if you want to. there's even a preview toggle in the posting editor to see what it looks like before you post it. literally the sky is the limit. YOU DON'T HAVE TO KNOW CODE TO POST ON COHOST, but if you do you can make your posts look cool. there is a "readmore" like on tumblr, but it's a soft readmore based on the post length instead of tumblr's hard readmore. 18+ is allowed.
pillowfort: a rich text editor that's built to support images, videos, links, ect. as long or short as you want. 18+ is allowed.
site-specific:
tumblr: the ability to send asks and submit posts, polls, limited profile badges (most need to be bought), blog coding customization, post blazing, sideblogs
twitter: lists, spaces, circles, and polls
cohost: the ability to send asks, user funded, no ads, anti-AI stance, range of options for profile customization, private notes (able to be left on a user's profile for only you to see), sidepages (built-in sideblogs that function as their own main blogs)
pillowfort: communities (these are in tumblr beta testing currently), user funded, no ads, anti-AI stance, a WIDE range of profile badges (99% are free, 1% are rewarded for donating to the site during specific fundraising periods)
site sign-up and apps
tumblr: free and easy, app in the appstore.
twitter: free and easy, app in the appstore
cohost: free and easy, but posting is limited for a small period of time at first sign-up. you can browse, follow users, and like posts during this period of time, but cannot make your own original posts until cohost greenlights you (they'll send an email when you're able to post; mine was just under 24 hours). they have a progressive web app hosted by chrome that functions and appears as a regular app that bypasses appstore restrictions.
pillowfort: free, but unlike the other sites and more like AO3, sign-up puts you on a waitlist for an invite code, or you can sign-up with an invite code from a user already on the site. no mobile app, but a progressive web app like how cohost has is in the works.
bsky: the twitter copy. sign-up is free, but there's a wait period before you're fully invited to set up your account unless you have a bsky invite from a user already on the site. there's an app in the appstore.

2. "I just had the terrible realization I might be in love with you and I'm still processing what that means." (Frye x Captain 3) (゚ω゚;)
ohhhh hi, new rarepair acquired.
captain uses they/them here! less important, new agent 3 is called neo, and shiver uses she/they. first time writing both shiver and frye!! hopefully i dont mess them up too bad lol
-
Frye was a loudmouth, and it was this loudmouth that often got her into trouble she couldn't quite get out of on her own. Not that she'd ever admit that, Captain knew well. Her pride would never allow it.
In the days after the defeat of Grizz, when Deep Cut would return to Alterna to scavenge it for things to sell, she'd taken to sitting down beside them instead. She'd stick her purple tipped hands in the fake snow and make millions of little snowfry while she talked the Captain's pointed ears off. Marie had bailed on day three of this, and continued to bail every single time she saw Frye approaching the camp.
Marie once asked the Captain why they didn't leave either. Frye was brash and foul-mouthed and rude and loud and every unflattering synonym one could begin to think of. Captain had only shrugged at the question. They didn't see a reason to leave. They didn't mind Frye's company.
If Shiver and Big Man ever minded their third member abandoning them while they scavenged Alterna, Captain never heard. They never saw otherwise either.
"... so anyways, that's when I was like BLAM and knocked Neo off the whole platform!" Frye gestured widely with her hands, flinging fake snow up into the air and drawing Captain back to the present moment. She laughed wildly. "You should've been there, you could've seen how totally cool I was."
Captain shrugged, a soft huff of laughter escaping their lips. They watched a beaming smile spread across Frye's face, eyes lingering on the way her larger than average inkling fangs caught on her lower lip.
"Anyways," Frye said, idly crushing one of the snowfry she'd made beneath her hands, "I haven't gotten to spar like that in ages. I told Neo I'm always up for a rematch, so maybe sometime you could come watch me be a total badass?"
Captain nodded, leaning forward to rest their elbow on their knee and their face in their hand. They'd seen her fight before. She was admirable in battle, graceful and wonderful to watch in the chaos she sowed.
"Awesome." Frye stared down at the fake snow for a long moment. She was quiet, which was strange. She was never quiet like this. It made the Captain pause, looking over her in soft wonder.
After a moment, Captain lifted a hand and snapped. When Frye looked up, they raised a brow at her, tilting their head and asking a silent question.
"Oh, haha, sorry," Frye laughed, an anxious trilling sound. "I think I just realized I'm in love with you and I'm kind of processing what that means."
The words hit and sunk in deep, resting embers flaring to life in their chest. Captain stared, wide eyed, feeling heat flush to their cheeks. Frye only seemed to realize what she'd said when the silence stretched on too long.
"Wait-" she burst out, sudden, frantic, scrambling to stand and staring down at the Captain with wide eyes of her own. "Wait, I meant- I didn't mean to say that yet-"
Captain continued to stare, their lips parting in the dry air of Alterna to gape.
Frye almost looked helpless, a miserable sound escaping her mouth between the fangs Captain had been admiring earlier. She lifted her purple tipped hands to her head in frustration, clenching them into fists. "Fuck. Just- ignore that!"
Without waiting for an answer, Frye turned and rushed off towards the sewer grate that led out of Alterna.
"Wow. She blew that."
The icy voice snapped Captain out of their daze, and they turned back to glance at Shiver. The octoling was leaning back against some of the boxes stacked in their camp, idly fanning herself. Captain stared. She stared back.
"Well?" Shiver snapped their fan closed with a wooden rustle and pointed it at the Captain. "Are you going after her, or should I?"
Captain stood, glancing between Shiver and the grate Frye had fled out. Taking a deep breath, they turned and ran after Frye, flip flops kicking up the fake snow. Behind them, Shiver let out a manic cackle.
"Better treat her right Cap, or it's your ass!" she called after them with a shark's grin in her voice.
Captain could barely hear her over the sound of their hearts in their ears.

i want to post yet another reminder that if you follow me now for undertale, UTMV, or UT AU content, you won't find it anymore unless you give me money to create it for you. i do not create or participate in the undertale AU fandom or community anymore and i will not unless i am compensated with money. this is indefinite and will not change. you will not get free undertale AU content from me. i do not make it for free.
so if that is the only reason you are following me now, please unfollow me. or stay following me if you want cookie run and splatoon on your dash, i don't care.

sorry if you guys thought that doodle earlier was a fluke. it wasn't.
meet Xenophon, a redeemed Commander Tartar who works for the New Squidbeak Splatoon in my Newbeak OCverse :3c
Image text transcribed below:
Commander Tartar
It/Its (preferably, but it doesn't really care)
its true form is a little sphere comparable to an 8ball. the telephone box was a shell it piloted (it was destroyed after the final battle). in its true form, it can take over any piece of technology
it was found after the final battle and taken home by Agent 8 (Theta)
its current form was built by Marina at is direction, upon request by Agent 8
by technicality, a cyborg
- sanitized ink does not biodegrade.
- it can control ink the way ink/octolings can, but only sanitized ink. it can also convert other ink into sanitized ink
- has a mind-link to Captain 3 thanks to the partial sanitization during Agent 8's escape
- has a mind-link to the CQ Cumber hivemind because it created him
Doodled notes:
Alternative Name: Xenophon

Tentacles and face are fake flesh, speaker is robotic
Half organic, mostly robotic

Waltz chap 2 was a fun read, like how we’re being awfully daring. Your writings real nice 🌟👍
:D thank u, i'm glad you're enjoying it!!
i'm having a lot of fun trying to figure out how to write this, since i dont usually write reader insert fiction, and uh, it's a LOT more fun than i thought it was gonna be.
the reader being daring is... well, YEAH, daring is definitely the right word for it! you'll get to see more of that in later chapters because i have PLANS for yall :3c
