arrow through the heart

wanted to draw something in one sitting cuz I’ve struggle bused with that lately, and this was the result!! kinda inspired by that one three person pose that trended awhile ago with the arrow heart thing except I free handed this and made it just two people instead LOL

and then super saturated unintentional TV girl colors too cuz I gravitate to blue and pink/red like a magnet

not really sure what the symbolism was intended to be when I was drawing this so! interpret it as you please! I kinda just went ham! tsumugi is probably the one who shot the arrow, that’s all I’ve got ahah

I think it’d be funny if these two are constantly trying to run into Yuma again to ask about. everything (how the hell he got into Kanai Ward and etc.) but it’s almost like a scooby doo chase where he’s just out of reach every time LMFAO

also I feel like shuichi would unintentionally take notice of Kiibo and Yuma sounding similar just for the sillies (same English VA, but I do have a lore reason. that I won’t spill. SPOILIES)

this year has definitely been my favorite so far, because of how purposefully vague I made the prompts, people went all over the place with interpretations and it was AWESOME!!!!!!! also got some of the first fic entries in my 3 years of hosting this as well!!!

Hello!! i know it’s a bit early to ask this (since i’ve noticed it’s during summer), but i was wondering if you would still host saiibo week this year?

HELLO ANON!! and early asking never hurts no worries!

yes indeed I plan to host another saiibo week this year!! (im hoping to host it for as long as i can!! already been doing it for quite a few years over on instagram!!) I want to host it both here and on instagram this time !! (it’d be my first time hosting it on tumblr and on two sites at once!!) usually I post the list near the beginning of summer and the week itself takes place near the end of summer (July, maybe early August) to give even the slower artists or writers the time they need, so keep your eyes peeled sometime in May for the list !!! :D still brainstorming the sort of theme I’m going with this year, last year was more emotions based and more vague! who knows what’ll happen this year hehehe

HIII TUMBLR IM BACK WITH MORE FUN CRYPTIC SYMBOLISTIC ART (MY FAVORITE) went out of my usual comfort zone with this one (PEEP THE LINEART?? FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO MAKE LINEART WORK FOR ME!! STILL WONT BE A THING I DO OFTEN THOUGH LMAOOO) BUT I HAD LOADS OF FUNWITH IT!!

basically the story here,

I got reminded of my like. over half a year old symbolistic intimacy kiibo piece (that instagram almost snipped me for bc artistic nudity is so scary or whatever over there) and was inspired to sort of make a shuichi parallel! kind of!!! cuz I’m still really fond of the kiibo centric piece!!

so obviously, like the other piece, this is in like. a dream scape in shuichis head, and that ghost-like kiibo is more of a reflection of his pushing AWAY of feelings, as opposed to curiousity and doubts, like the kiibo piece was. this killing game has taken everyone shuichi has gotten the chance to love, and crushed them in the palms of its hands, leaving him to weep. this ghosty kiibo is basically a manifestation of how badly he wants to pursue his feelings but he can’t bare to go through the same thing ALL over again.

oh! and heres that half year old kiibo symbolistic piece i was talking about! with its original caption too!, cuz I don’t think I ever got to sharing it here!! cw for non explicit nudity!!

the idea of this piece was centered around kiibo and his first experiences of feeling love and intimacy, how confused he'd be and how vivid it'd feel, I wanted to try and express that in a physical way, this almost ghost-like version of shuichi being a manifestation of all those feelings piled up, how he has no idea how to deal with them while simultaneously wanting so badly to pursue them, it's rly interesting to think about!!!

ANYWAYYSSS these two are so fucking fun for more intimate type symbolism idk. their relationship is so much more. complex when you look at all the layers to each side and each of their responses to things and etc etc EXPLODES IDK THOUGHTS AND BRAIN JUICES EVERYWHERE

ANDDD LAST BUT DEFINITELY NOT LEAST, here’s my full page/spread/comic for the @drcriticaldicezine !!!!! DONT LET ME HAVING POSTED ALL MY PEICES FOR IT STOP YOU FROM CHECKING OUT THE FULL THING THOUGH!!!! GO DOWNLOAD IT!!!! ITS FREE!!!!!!!!

when I tell you I went WAYYY out of my comfort zone for this.. AND IT WAS SO FUN. my main idea was to have it be a sort of fantasy spin on v3 chapter 6, thus tsumugi being the villian, kiibo being the leader against her yadda yadda I’m honestly really glad this was the pitch that was picked out of the ones I gave because my other ones wouldn’t have fit a comic format and I wouldn’t have been able to make this full on colored comic!!!!!! big huge labor of love this puppy is (coloring comics is SOOO tedious. BUT SOOO WORTH IT. LOT OF CHALLENGES ALONG THE WAY BUT THEY WERE GOOD CHALLENGES!!!!) it was fun being able to really bring my designs to life like this heheh definitely learned a lot!!!!

this is the first ever zine I’ve really been in thats come to full fruition and it is such a huge huge honor to say that, being able to take part in it with everyone else has been SUCH a huge blast!!!!
