No but seriously imagine it:
Youā€™re seeing fall out boy on a concert. Everyone is having a great time. Fall out boy seem a little excited. ā€œWe have a surprise for you guys.ā€ Partick says. All of a sudden P!ATD come out and start singing ā€œthis is gospel.ā€ When Brendon gets to the chorus, someone else starts singingā€¦ ā€œWhen I was a young boy my father took me into the city to see a marching band.ā€ Lights flash everywhere, and you see FOB singing ā€œthis is gospelā€ along with P!ATD, while MCR is singing ā€œBlack paradeā€. Everyone in the crowd is going wild and crying. Then if things couldnā€™t get any better, Dan and Phil walk onto stage and kiss, holding the gay flag.

"I say the god [Dionysus] does not discriminate young dancers from old, that he craves honor from one and all alike, that no one - no one - is excluded from his worship."

i honestly dont care that some women work with menstrual/womb/fertility magic. i dont care that they work with only goddesses. i dont care that they want to become mother witches.
i care when they say that only "women" can do witchcraft. i care when they say you have to have a womb to do magic. i care when they boil every goddess down to "fertility/mother goddess." i care when they make out every god to be a rapist or abuser. i care when they say every "female" wants to/has to be a mother to feel fulfilled, or they've failed as a woman. i care when they claim to worship a White Goddess, and condemn "black" magic.
like i really dont give a shit how you choose to walk your path, but get rid of the gross harmful ideals (supporting the patriarchy, sexism, transphobia, bioessentialism, white supremacy, etc.), and realize youre not better than someone else because youre white and have an organ. until then have fun being blocked dickhead!

A Daily Invocation for Offerings to Hestia
Hestia First and Lastā€¦
O Hestia,
Thea of the Holy Hearth
Goddess and Protector of the Home.
If I have ever felt the warmth of a fire or the comfort of candle flame - I ask that You hear me now.
I offer these chores, these acts of domesticity, to You.
I hope You accept these offerings and that they bring You joy.
Do Et Des.
I give so You may give.

My Top 5 Recommendations For A Dorm Altar
(Part 1 of my Back To School Series)
1. Set aside some shelf area. If you want, you can get a small shelf specifically to sit on your desk for your altar.
2. Get some electric candles. They are fairly affordable, will not set off your dormā€™s fire alarm, and I highly doubt that they will get you in trouble with your RAs.
3. Get yourself a cute teacup and saucer set. You can find them at pretty much any thrift store, and together they work as a great libation cup and offering dish set that isnā€™t going to weird out your roommate.
4. My personal favorite way to replace incense is to get one of those reed oil diffusers. Theyā€™re pretty cheap online and at discount stores, they will make your room smell good (obviously), and I love to use them to replace incense in the dorm.
5. If you donā€™t have any deity statues, or donā€™t feel comfortable displaying them, you can draw your own depiction of whatever gods you currently worship, use a symbol of theirs, or simply print out pictures online.

I kinda want to make a Back-To-School: Hellenic Polytheism Edition series, but iā€™m at a loss for enough ideas to make it a proper series. Does anyone have any suggestions? Iā€™ve already got a few ideas going, but I would appreciate any you guys have.

Itā€™s okay to not make your life revolve around the Gods.
Itā€™s okay to have periods where you are less regular in your practice.
Itā€™s okay to have a more laid back approach to your worship.
Everyone has their own personal relationship with the Gods.
Every relationship is unique.
Your relationship with the Gods might be very different from mine.
We might use different terms to deceive our practices.
We might have different UPGs and different ways to show our devotion.
But thatā€™s okay.
In fact, I think itā€™s wonderful.
In the end, we worship and love the same Gods, and I think thatā€™s beautiful.
Our diversity is beautiful.

If you think it's wrong or shameful for someone to have a casual relationship to magic, witchcraft, the gods, etc., you are functionally a fundamentalist. There's no difference between you and the Bible thumper who thinks everybody needs to be in constant prayer and thinking about God's will at all times.

New evidence for ancient chthonic worship in a cave in Israel
This week, I read on the local news that a new discovery was made in a cave near Jerusalem, known as the Twins cave.
The cave was a known spot for an ancient local Demeter cult, but recently, they found numerous oil lamps and candles in the cracks of the caves, thought to be offerings as part of necromantic rituals.
Caves are traditionally used in Hellenic necromancy as they are believed to be close enough to the underworld to allow passage between there and here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fact that a necromantic cult was holding rituals just a few centuries ago, probably calling Hades as well, just a 40-minute drive from my house - it's mind blowing to me.
But that's not all. Archeologists here used to claim the evidence and objects used for pagan practices and worship belonged to either Greek or Roman soldiers. The rustic Jewish population was thought to be wildly against the Hellenization process that lasted a few centuries, mainly in urban eras.
This time, they corrected themselves and claimed that the oil lamps belonged to local Jewish farmers, basically admitting the active pagan practice of Jewish people while maintaining their Jewish and monotheistic traditions and identity to create syncretization.

while my worship and ideas are constantly changing and evolving as I understand more of the world, one thing remains constant: I remain convinced that the most important aspect of my faith is sharing a fresh glass of water with Helios as he climbs the sky each morn, greeting Gaia's winged children with little "chirrups", and walking my garden as I say good morning to the beautiful plants and statues that I have dedicated to Apollon, Kore and my Rose of Olympus (Aphrodite)
It's in this simple 15 minute act each morning that I find myself the most grounded and connected to my gods. My gods are nature and the earth itself and while reciting hymns and giving offerings is an important part of my praxis, it sometimes feels hollow and disconnected. Planting my feet firmly on the Earth and breathing in the fresh, crisp morning air and just... feeling. Now that's the stuff.
simplicity is beautiful. worship simply, love greatly
