Reminder: If you think someone is upset or depressed or some other type of sadness, do not be afraid to ask if they are OK!

If you think a loved one, friend, or someone you care about is sad/depressed, or showing signs of said things, don’t be afraid to ask them if they are feeling ok. This could really help them. Some people (like myself) aren‘t easily able to talk about things like this, they may need that push or help of a question to actually get their emotions out. If said person is not comfortable, they will not talk about it and let you know they aren’t. Don’t be afraid to ask! You could genuinely help someone with those 3-4 words.

Depression comes in many forms. Sadness, anger, quiet or distantness, etc. Some are easier to spot than others. Changes in mood or special interests, (if someone loved drawing but now doesn‘t) often saying they would be better off dead, or making jokes about death or wanting to die, and many others. (Such as: lack of sleep, decline in participation/acting distant, abuse of substance, self harm, hinting at suicide).

This may not always be the case, but like I said, there’s no harm in asking! I hope this helped someone and don’t be afraid to reach out to me via dm’s. I hope everyone stays safe and has a nice night.
