Yep, this is a thing for some reason.

Mordetwi, as said on Know Your Meme, is the portmanteau name given to a crossover ship between the characters Mordecai from Regular Show and Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. The couple was first shipped in 2011 from a fanfiction called Earthworm Zim. Honestly, I thought it was because of the Artwork with Airplanes.

Now I have my fair share of Crackships (if you’re reading this article, you probably have seen my comics), but the question is “could Twilight and Mordecai work as a couple”. In theory, any relationship could happen. And the idea of a slacker pairing off with a hard worker is a common trope. But could Moedetwi work? Let’s analyze.

Twilight has two potential canon love interests, and they’re both Flash Sentry. One is a pony that she is physically attractive to, but nothing ever comes up beyond that. The other is a boy she was obviously crushing on. Despite looking like a rocker, he is kind of a dork when trying to impress ladies. So that sounds like Mordecai, at least in the early seasons.

When we see Mordecai with Margaret, he’s also dorkish when trying to impress her. But then we get to CJ, who he is MUCH better when doing date things. So if this were to happen, Mordecai would definitely be smoother than he was with Margaret. And speaking of Margaret and CJ, let’s compare them to how Twilight is.

While Margaret is down to earth at times, she is definitely a career woman. She broke up with Mordecai when she had to go to college and still have that job by the end of the series. So you could say that is similar to Twilight considering she’s so focused on her studies and her title as Princess. CJ, who I honestly prefer, is pretty close to Mordecai as she’s just as laid back as he is. But considering how that ended, that could have been the problem.

Mordecai’s break up with CJ was just horrible. He did it in front of his friend’s wedding and still didn’t end up with Margaret. There’s also the Bat Lady he ends up with in the series finale, but we don’t know much about her to really give an understanding of what she is like. But it does show that Mordecai won’t make a butt of himself again like with CJ.

If Mordecai got anything going for him, it's that each time he’s in a relationship he improves. His dates with Margaret usually had problems. CJ’s were smoother, but the unresolved Margaret issues was the big reason it sank. But with those cleared up, any future relationship should be even better than with CJ. And the Bat Lady proves it.

Back with Twilight, if we compare Flash Sentry to Mordecai, we know they could be dorky and awkward around their love interest. But Flash is also nice. Mordecai is nice as well, but we’ve seen his fits of anger from time to time, even towards Rigby. Granted, Rigby did deserve it at certain times but Twilight may not like that. When she was as angry or did something similar, she would regret it.

We see this with Pinkie Pie. Whenever she gets so angry, she eventually feels bad about it. And in a short amount of time. Meanwhile, Mordecai could be mad for a long time in comparison. She may not like the teasing he does to Rigby. Though I don’t think he does it as much since Rigby proves to be the better person when it comes to relationships. Now the question remains: how well can they handle each other’s extreme natures.

Honestly, I think they can handle each others’ problems fine. Twilight sometimes deals with Monsters, which Mordecai has dealt with before. And Twilight’s over analytical nature could be a help with some of their wacky adventures. See Eileen. So that leaves one question: would Twilight be interested in a slacker? I don’t think she was, but Mordecai isn’t really much of a slacker.

Sure, he does slack off at times and usually at the worst times, but he does try to be a good worker at times. Sometimes it's Rigby’s fault he strays from that. Sometimes it's his own doing. But he tries at least. And he wasn’t as bad as Zephyr was in that one episode. Like Breeze, Mordecai does get better at working to the point he’s a big time artist in the finale.

So could Mordecai and Twilight Sparkle work as a ship? Maybe. Mordecai does get better every new relationship and his issues with Margaret are done. And Twilight does have a thing for Dorks and with a passion for the arts (granted musical over pictures). If someone has an idea for them it could in theory work. But is this enough for me to ship them? Honestly, not really.

I don’t see Twilight dating anyone really. Like she’s all business. Meanwhile Mordecai definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth after that CJ Break Up incident. And it's not that hard for me to like a ship. Someone told me about a Mina the Mongoose and Manic the Hedgehog ship and I instantly liked the idea because it reminds me of the song Skater Boi. And Mina did leave a bad taste in my mouth after the Nicole incident.

Like Mordecai, she did get better at least at the end, but still that incident really makes it hard for me to support them. And yet I like the Mina/Manic ship for one simple reason. Mordetwi doesn’t have that simplicity. If you legit ship them, good for you. But I don’t think I would ever join that boat even for the meme.

Who will be defending Equestria? (I'm most likely going to stick with no images since I don't have the Knights in pixels and I doubt I will))

It was nighttime and the students were asleep in their dorm rooms. Silverstream was dreaming about being a Wonderbolt. Ocellus was dreaming about graduating. Nice dreams like that. But then things got worse. Yona was falling from the sky. Gallus was going to be trapped forever. Smolder had witnesses. They figured out it was a nightmare after seeing Sandbar having a difficult time choosing cupcakes.

That is when the Spirit of the Tree talked to them. They had a premonition that the Treehouse of Harmony was in danger. They would need to find help to defend against these unknown attackers or else the Tree House of Harmony may be no more. They awoke after that and met up with each other, to confirm that they all had the same dream and that they needed to find a way to protect the Treehouse. The next day, they split up to look for help.

Yona and Sandbar went to the Apple Farm. They figured if anyone can help the Treehouse of Harmony from being in danger, it would be the Green Lantern. They instead found her elder sister. She informed them that her little sister is offworld on official Green Lantern business alongside Buttercup. While Sandbar and Yona are sad, Applejack cheers them up. After all, Apple Bloom prepared for instances like this.

AJ gave the call for the others and the Super Friends finally gathered together once more. In a short time, the Legendary Rockhoof, the mysterious Zecora and the dedicated Tianhuo arrived to hear the issue. They are in agreement with each other and head with the two kids to the Treehouse of Harmony. While these are four impressive ponies, they’re not sure if this is enough. Yona and Sandbar hope that the others are getting more help.

Gallus and Silverstream went to the Thundibles HQ, which was just a random house in Ponyville. Gallus informs Gilda of what is happening and Gilda thinks this is a good idea to help them. She informs Filthy Lucre who is in agreement. Sadly for them, they will be down a member because Starlight Glimmer has been rather busy at the School of Friendship. It honestly wouldn’t surprise her that she would resign one day.

But still, the Thundibles still have impressive numbers. The Red Lantern Gilda. The Teleporting Lightning Dust. The Changeling Axilla. And the dynamic duo of Rolling Thunder and Shortfuse. Filthy Lucre wished them luck and also evidence as being able to say they saved an important landmark would be good for their business. They followed the Students to the Treehouse to prepare, so that leaves Ocellus and Smolder to find help.

After their trip to the Comic Convention, they figured Big Spike would know where to get good help. He and Twilight Sparkle volunteered because she still has that connection to work with. Also coming along is the Space Pirate Kilo. He feels that they could use someone not as harmonic to do actions they would need. Twilight wonders if anyone else should come, but Kilo believes that it is best to not use the others.

So when the group gathered together, they started to try to figure out some strategies for what to do. Sadly, the majority believe in the “at the moment” strategy since they really don’t know what to expect. While Twilight sighs and thinks they should at least plan with the knowledge that they do know, that’s when they felt the earth shake. The Knights of Harmony are here.

Spoilers, we still get no G1 interactions.

We meet the three new creatures that Grackle and Dyre made: Violet Shiver, Black Belle and Shadow Storm. They have successfully tricked the ponies into thinking that they are from Hayvard. But the two daughters don’t think their S'monies are doing enough. Mostly because they only told them to “make things weird”. So they told them things to teach the students which are not friendly. Thing is, the students really like it.

But Rarity is the first to notice those lessons sound mean and tells Starlight her worries. Starlight didn’t think it was the case but overheard a lesson just in case. Starlight does worry as the “summon scary objects and scare your roommates” is mean but Black Belle basically Gaslights Starlight to second guess herself. And despite this, the daughters think the S'monies should do more. So after school, they do like messing with the Wonderbolts, a restaurant vs a bowling alley, and messing with the harvest.

But the gaslighting is over as Starlight is seeing Black Belle’s lessons being more mean than she originally thought while the rest of Ponyville is getting more frustrated. And despite all that, the daughters STILL don’t think the S'monies are doing enough. Considering they don’t even oversee their creations, it is no wonder. And that’s where the issue ends with the S'monies promising to get worse.

Again, for a crossover with Generation 1, there is not a lot of Generation 1. Like imagine a crossover event where you don’t see elements of who they’re crossing over with for two episodes. Or a crossover episode where you’re almost half way and you still haven’t seen any crossover. But how is this story without those elements? 

Well, Grackle and Dyre don’t really interest me. They’re still in the Volcano complaining and not doing anything themselves. The S'monies I think look interesting but so far they are interchangeable. Like when Black Belle slipped up, Shadow Storm covered for her. And then Shadow Storm slipped up where Violet Shiver covers for him. But with the students liking them despite the scary lessons, it does set up the ending.

Another thing I notice is the coloring mistakes. Twice I noticed Starlight Glimmer’s hair having different coloring than normal. Is this why they never added her into IDW comics before? Now Issue 3 is next and we’ll finally get some actual G1 Representation... For one panel.

The Launching of a New Ship

There’s a dance coming up inspired by the Fetlock Fete. While it is called the Amity Ball, a lot of the traditions are there. Such traditions include a contest for Best Pony Pal, which Yona wonders how she could be one if she’s not a pony. But Sandbar says it doesn’t matter as all that does is them going together. So yes, Sandbar is asking Yona to go with him to the dance. He is crushing on her so far and I’ve noticed more of their connections prior to this season.

But Yona finds out she has to wear a dress so she fears she wouldn’t be a Pony Pal, so she asks Rarity to help her become one. While you may question why she’s helping Yona when the lesson is “you should be yourself”, I think Rarity is doing this because she doesn’t understand why Yona wants to learn. She’s thinking it's wanting to do the traditions as best as she can, and not realizing it's because it's for a boy.

Like if Rarity knew this was because she wanted to do this for a date, it would be a completely different episode. But as is, Rarity is great as always with a really nice song. Yona also sings nicely compared to the first song of the season. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy help with the Dancing as Pinkie Pie and Applejack helps with the Lucky Pot. And after a good chunk of the episode, Yona gets it.

At the ball, the other non-ponies are being wall flowers while Sandbar tries to convince them to participate. But then they tell him about how Yona was working with the teachers for this dance. And yes, they know why. Sandbar doesn’t and is surprised to see Yona talk normal and all fancy dressed up. It seems to be working, but despite all the practicing, she never did in a dress and wig. So it trips her up and wrecks the dance. Yona takes it well.

At the Treehouse of Harmony, Yona is alone moping about how she screwed everything up when Sandbar comes in to cheer her up. And it works as we see the shipping sailing through the Ocean of doubt with ease. Back at the dance, everyone was worried about Yona because they thought they were teaching her how to have fun in the dance and not changing her. And because of the work Yona and Sandbar did for each other, they win the Award which is now called the Amity Ball Award for Friendship.

It ends with Yona teaching everyone at the dance the Yakyakistan Stomp. It's like a Mosh Pit without smashing each other. Overall, it is a great episode and one of my favorites of this season. While I was sad my Yona/Ocellus ship sunk, Yona/Sandbar was just so cute I couldn’t not like it. So this may be another case of “I’m going to reblog/reupload a comic because I couldn’t beat it”. Only I don’t think many people here have seen it.

Un-Convention-Al: A Convention Conclusion

Story ending time...

After the explanation of Big Spike’s story, Starswirl, Stygian and Shadow Lock were shocked. “Yeah, it was hard to believe that when we first heard it,” Gabby replied, “but that doesn’t make our own lives any less valuable.” Smolder added “If anything, it just means we’re awesome enough to get a second chance.” Shadow Lock looked inward when he heard that. A second chance.

For generations his family held this hatred. Many died without having to even face that hate, including his own father. And when Shadow Lock did, he did not find some monstrous Pony made of Shadows, but a unicorn just like him. And now he is the last of his family. There’s no point in all this. Even if he were to kill Stygian, there’s nothing left for him now. Starswirl looks at Shadow Lock and can tell what Shadow Lock is thinking.

“After my visit with Stygian is over, I plan on continuing my travels across Equestria. Would you care to join me on this venture Shadow Lock?” The Cloaked Unicorn was surprised. He spent the majority of his time with this group fighting them. And now one of the Pillars is asking him to join their journey. Juliet interrupts. “We still have three days to enjoy the convention, so you have plenty of time to think it over.” 

“You think the convention is going to continue after all that?” Ocellus asked. “I’ve been to many conventions. One time, three years in a row, there was a fire alarm pulled and we waited an hour outside each time. First time made me make sure I carried a sweater with me to every convention that isn’t in the summer. I bet they’re back to normal by the time we get back.” Mina interjects “I can vouch for that”. One trip through the portal later, and like Juliet said everything was back on schedule.

While the talk of the convention was that one time where they were all their favorite characters, everyone had a good time. Ocellus got to experience comic books. Gabby and Little Spike enjoyed spending time with each other. Mina got Smolder into Flashfire, especially after meeting the author of the comic. Big Spike was very popular among the visitors as many creatures asked him to be in pictures with him. And Juliet got into a debate about the Power Ponies Vs the Avengers.

Meanwhile, Shadow Lock got to know Stygian by finally talking to him. He wasn’t any different from the other ponies he had seen outside his home. He was just a regular unicorn with stories to tell. He also got to learn about Starswirl and his travels so far. That the things he has learned about Friendship being much greater than the spells he has learned. This eventually inspired Shadow Lock to take up Starswirl’s offer.

At the end of the convention, everyone was ready to return home. Ocellus spoke first. “This was fun. Are all conventions like this.” LIttle Spike replied “with the exception of that big battle on Day 1, pretty much.” “Though some conventions do have a live show that simulates that” Juliet adds. Smolder finally said, “that does sound fun. Maybe the next time we get to a convention it’ll be one with those.” The group laughs as they head back to Ponyville.

An OC question but one I think would be neat.

The Metal Virus is a story in the IDW Sonic comics. If you get infected, you eventually turn into a Zombot, wanting to spread the virus to other organic beings. This virus nearly took over the planet if it wasn’t for Sonic. And on Twitter there was an OC Question about who would survive it. So that got me questioning: who among my cast would survive this infection. So I’m going to break it down into certain categories and highlight one while mentioning others who could be in said tier. So let’s see.

100% Immune - Astral Blaze

Being part phoenix, you got the whole “death and rebirth” cycle meaning he would most likely just recover from it even if he is infected. But the real thing is the fire. Extreme heat can destroy most viruses (unlike other cases where it helps because of the heat affecting the body not the virus) and Astral Blaze’s heat can burn even dragons who dip in magma for fun. Any Zombot who tries for him would end up being flambeed. 

Other Examples: Robots. Inorganic beings. The Undertaker.

Can survive as long as they’re careful - Apple Bloom

The Ring can protect the user from danger automatically. But eventually that ring has to be recharged. If she isn’t careful with her ring usage, one mistake can make her into the next Zombot. Positive note, the Ring will be useless since a Zombot doesn’t have a lot of imagination to use such a thing. Bad note, that barrier they were making is gone.

Other Examples: High Magic Users. Other Lanterns. People not on the planet.

Can fight off infection - Rainbow Dash

Sonic showed that if you have super speed, you can fend it off for a while. And while you can argue Rainbow Dash isn’t as fast as Sonic, I can see her speed being able to fight it off like Sonic’s. Of course, being a flier has its ups and downs. She won’t have many chances to accidentally touch something organic, thus spreading it in the skies. Downside, if she does, basically death from above.

Other Examples: Other Speedsters.

Infected, but otherwise fine - Kari

Someone from my other universe, Kari, I like to imagine if she ever gets infected her personality (or anger in this case) is so strong she would retain her normal personality despite being a zombie. So logically, if she becomes a Zombot I would believe she would still be the angry female she is just in a new coat of liquid metal. Great to help out with crowd control, but not so much helping survivors.

Other Examples: Akuma the Hedgehog.

Infected - The Apples

Unlike the Zombie virus, the Metal Virus infects all organic life. That includes animals and plants. The Apple Acres is a frikkin huge land of organic plants and small critters. If any Apple is in the middle of that during an outbreak, I doubt they would realize what is happening before it is too late. Their only chance is to not be in that Apple Orchard when it happens.

Other Examples: Zecora. Fluttershy. First Responders before public knowledge.

Praying they get infected - Grogar

You know what's worse than a Virus that can turn anything organic into robotic zombies? Someone wanting to control said virus for their own actions. If Grogar were to get his hands on this and modify it to his liking, it may be a lot worse than how Eggman handled it in IDW. Like imagine them not only having an infectious touch, but having the knowledge to use said power to their advantage. For Equestria’s sake, Grogar better become a victim.

Other Examples: Robotnik. HIM. Darkseid.

Un-Convention-Al: Moonstride

Will this be the end of the conflict, or the beginning?

“Your father?” Stygian asked. “His name was Moonstride. He shares the same coat colors as us, while his mane was white. He went after you and never returned. What happened to him?” “I never met any pony that matched that description.” “Then what happened to him?” “You know none of this would have happened if this world had access to social media.” Everyone turned to Juliet after saying that. “It can work.”

“Can’t Robotnik find him?” ask the Bigger Spike, “That guy has the technology to do something like that.” “I’ll give him a call.” As Juliet made the call, the others kept their eyes on Shadow Lock as Stygian and Starswirl began to talk. “I thank you for saving me, old friend,” Stygian said. “It is only a fraction of the restitution I owe you.” “But what brought you here?” “I’ve been traveling across Equestria to learn about the true Magic of Friendship.”

Starswirl pulled out a book. It was one of Stygian’s Novels. “Of course, I needed something to do during my downtimes. And let’s say I have become a fan of your work. So I was hoping to find out what you were planning to do for your next novel. I hope I did not miss the announcement.” “I shall tell you all about it once this situation is over.” As they finished, Juliet was waving her hand that was holding her phone.

“He found him! He’s even going to open a portal for us there. I convinced him to keep it open so we can return when all of this is over.” As Juliet finished, a portal opened. Juliet entered it without any issue. Starswirl looked on in awe. “Such powerful magic. How did this “Robontik” do such a spell?” “It’s not a spell,” Big Spike said, “it's technology. More complicated than I can explain, but it's safe.” 

The others entered the portal. When they came through to the other side, they were atop of a cliff. Juliet was looking over the edge. When the others looked over, they were horrified at what they saw. A huge section of this forest road was all burnt up. Shadow Lock noticed something and teleported down the cliff. The others followed. They notice him magically lift a pendant. “This belongs to my father.”

Fearing the worst, Starswirl used his spell to see the events that happened in this area. He was horrified with what he saw. He turned to Shadow Lock. “I am sorry. Your father is no more. A hippogriff was responsible.” Ocellus and Smolder’s eyes widened when they heard this. “Did his feathers look like they were moving like a fire?” Ocellus asked. “Yes,” Starswirl replied, “How did you know?” Smolder responded, “That’s the same creature that attacked us at the Everfree Forest.”

“According to Zecora, it was a hippogriff born with Phoenix Fire,” Ocellus explained. “Astral Blaze,” Stygian responded. The others looked at him. “I read about him back before the Pillars were formed. He would arrive for creatures who avoided their fate. But why attack Moonstride?” Big Spike replied, “because technically, every creature who lives in this dimension avoided their fate.”

Let’s see how they would be in GLAB. (No images this week..))

Long ago, on the island of Cunabula, there were many creatures living in harmony. But this harmony on the outside was holding something dark. Their six most powerful mages found a powerful source of Magic. They did not know what to call this, so they called it Canabulan Magic. With this magic, they brought order to their land by force. And when Canabula was exactly how they wanted it to be, they decided to expand beyond their lands to take over the entire planet.

While in most dimensions they went to other places first, in this universe their first stop was the main lands of Equestria, where Discord was running havoc to all who lived there. The Knights seeing him as a challenge foolishly believed that they could handle the Chaos Spirit. Try as they might, despite their best efforts, Discord easily made short work of them and they were sent packing. Knowing their defeat would lead to the downfall of everything they have built, they spun the narrative.

They returned home to inform their citizens that the outside world was not worth it. That at best they would let them burn themselves into ashes before they go back. The Citizens, fully defeated at this point, truly believed the lie. So the Knights of Order concealed their land under the guise of protecting their land and people from outside sources. In truth, this was to hide them for their eventual comeback. If not this generation, future generations of the Knights of Order will complete their goals.

To know what the outside world was hiding, they have familiars travel across the planet once a year to inform them of the situation outside. It would be one year later when they found out about the Twin Princesses using Canabulan Magic to defeat Discord. The Knights were horrified. How could outsiders use their magic? How come they were successful when the Knights weren’t. They continued to analyze the situation and discover that the Elements of Harmony was the source and they used this to improve their own use of it.

The problem is their ideas of improvement goes against everything the Harmonic Magic stood for. While they accepted Magic and Loyalty being important, they felt that Generosity, Laughter, Kindness and Honesty were not as necessary. They replaced those ideals with Equity, Acceptance, Faith and Pride. They felt the way to use Harmonic Magic was to keep it under six ideals and continued their usual methods of using their magic, only magnifying their specific element.

They continued to do this until the next generation of the Knights of Order rose up. And with the new order came the passing down of their great secret, but not all the information. This continued for many generations to the point that the truth was lost to them. As far as the recent generations believe, they are the Knights of Harmony and that their actions were what was necessary to maintain harmony. As of right now, there are six members of the Knights of Harmony.

Taranis: the Element of Pride. Morrigan: the Element of Faith. Mannah: the Element of Acceptance. Ceridwen: the Element of Equity. Balor: the Element of Magic. And Danu: the leader and Element of Loyalty. They are Chimera: creatures magically created to ensure no one outside the Knights can infect their Order. And they were leagues more powerful than the original Knights who fought Discord. And Danu knew this.

So on one day, Danu told the Knights that now is the time to bring Harmony to the rest of Equestria. And with their people cheering for them since they know nothing else, the Knights of Harmony have decided to go back to the Main Lands of Equestria and show them how to truly use Harmonic Magic. And their first location will be to attack the current source of Harmony Magic: the Treehouse of Harmony.

Un-Convention-Al: At The Turn Of The Tide

Pony Gandalf to the Rescue.

Shadow Lock was shocked. One of the Pillars, the one who created many of the spells his family learned, was here. And instead of helping him, he was saving the Pony of Shadows. He could not believe it. “I do not know what kind of spell he placed on you Starswirl,” Shadow Lock declared, “but once his life ends you will be freed of whatever enchantment he placed on...” “ENOUGH!” Starswirl shouted.

Starswirl closed his eyes as his horn glowed. Shadow Lock was ready to defend himself, but instead of an attack the glowing stopped. When Starswirl opened his eyes, he began to speak. “That was a spell I created. It allows me to see the past up to a certain point in the area I am in. So I know your reason for your action.” Starswirl walked up to Shadow Lock. “If you truly believe Stygian deserves death, then that punishment must be mine as well.”

Shadow Lock was in disbelief. How could Starswirl say this unless he was under some sort of spell. “There’s no reason you should be to blame! It was him that became the Pony of Shadows! It was him who tried to steal your powers!” “He was not trying to steal our powers. He wanted validation that I wrongfully took from him.” Starswirl’s magic created a screen. It showed visually what Starswirl was explaining.

“Stygian was a Unicorn who thought of gathering the greatest heroes of legend together to save his village from Sirens. When he arrived with the other Pillars, I immediately took control of the situation. As we grew in notoriety, Stygian kept falling deeper into the Shadows. When we confronted him about taking our items, it was I who thought the worst. I didn’t allow him to explain himself. So it is my fault he became the Pony of Shadows.”

“We sacrificed ourselves to put him in Limbo, but all that did was continue the cycle of hate your family received and the darkness in his heart. If only I understood the meaning of Friendship, none of that would happen. Instead, it was my ego that ruined any chance for Stygian and your family. And it would take the heroes of this time to show me my own failings.” Starswirl turned off his magic and walked towards Shadow Lock.

“Don’t you see? None of this would have happened if I just listened. And when I finally did, the Pony of Shadow was truly defeated. No need for us to disappear or for some creature to die. The only thing that remains are memories; lessons that we should keep not to avenge our past but to prevent it from happening again. Let go of this hate and move on. You’ll be surprised what Harmony can do for you.”

Shadow Lock listened to Starswirl’s tale. Those words really got to him. His entire family from generation to generation carried this hate. They were the only ones who considered the threat of the Pony of Shadows as others moved on. Other dangers came and went while they waited for one that never came. Could Starswirl be right? But that’s when Shadow Lock remembered something. He turned to Stygian and looked him in the eye.

“What happened to my father?”

Un-Convention-Al: Evening the Odds

The Battle against Shadow Lock continues...

Shadow Lock is struggling. Despite their differences, they are getting better and better. If he doesn’t take care of them soon enough, he may get overwhelmed. That’s when the odd looking creature began to talk. “We got Two Princesses, two Superheroes and even a giant beast on our side! Unless you have some way to take away all their powers, you can’t handle these odds!” Of course! He gave these creatures these powers. He can take it away.

Shadow Lock concentrated on a big spell. The others were ready to block but they were not prepared for a shockwave. This shockwave covered a large radius. As quickly as others were given these powers, they were taken away even faster. Celestia gave a knowing smile as she faded away. The same for everyone else’s power. They were back to their normal selves. But what surprised Shadow Lock was Big Spike still being there.

“How can that be? You should have faded away.” Before he could question more, he was tackled by Smolder. No longer being the Non-Combative Dragon from the Spyro Series, she was able to be her true dragon self. She grabbed hold of Shadow Lock’s horn, thinking it would negate his magic. Instead, she received a nasty shock that made her loosen their grip. This allowed the Unicorn to telekinetically push her off.

Before he could respond, he was hit by some sort of goo. The goo made him stuck to the ground. He was trying to use his magic to remove him from this situation, but the goo was also covering his horn. To his shock, it also nullified his magic. He looked towards what could have done that and saw a blue blob creature. Another fictional creature that somehow remained? That’s when a bluish fire engulfed it, revealing that it was the Changeling Ocellus.

“You were right Juliet! It worked!” Ocellus excitedly said. Juliet crossed her arms and smirked. “It's obvious he didn’t do any research before doing this crusade thing. And with the Smooze’s gooey moves, capturing him was a snap!” Shadow Lock was trying to fight his way out of it as Stygian walked up to him. “I am sorry for what I have done. I was so mad at how I was distrusted, I turned to the Shadows. It promised me things and I accepted it without a second thought.”

“I never considered the effects my choices had on my remaining family. If I was a stronger pony then, I probably would have refused. But since I returned, I was freed from the Shadow’s influence. The Pony of Shadows is no more. There is nothing to fear from me or it ever again.” Shadow Lock listened to all this and just got more angry. So angry his magic became stronger. The Smooze Goo tried its best to hold him, but even they were no match for Shadow Lock’s sudden burst.

Shadow Lock was freed. With his magic, he telekinetically held everyone up. Even Big Spike was powerless to fight against this. “You think a simple apology would absolve you of your sins! Only your death will fix that! For all the torment you have caused my family for Generations!” His telekinetic grip was tightening around Stygian’s neck. That’s when another blast hit Shadow Lock from behind. The Cloaked Pony turned around and was shocked to see the person who shot him.

It was Starswirl the Bearded.

Time to end G4’s Official Run with IDW Comics...

Before I begin, as a reminder, I consider the Classic Reimagined Comics to be part of the G5 lineup despite it focusing on the G4 cast. So once I finish with MLP Generations, unless I mistakenly missed a previous G4 Comic, this will be the last of the IDW Comics until I get to review all of Generation 5. But that’s future AkumaTh’s Problem. Today, we’re going back to the past...

We begin this issue with the Daughters of Reeka and Draggle, Grackle and Dyre. Ignoring the questions on how they had kids, they’re stuck in the volcano while they’re... Somewhere. I don’t think this comic ever explains what. But they’re gone for a month and the kids need to do their chores, which includes getting revenge on the Ponies. That’s definitely a “leave it to us” job and not something their kids should do, but they’re stuck there with nothing to do, so might as well.

Luckily for them, they got their pet rat/possum Trench who can magically dig his way into another dimension. During this visit we see G4 at the School of Friendship, and the school is packed. So much so that despite all the teachers they’re being overworked. So after debating on what to do, Dash suggests getting help from outside Ponyville to help teach. And with that news, the Teenagers have an idea.

Make their own ponies out of Smooze, the OG one, to go over there and cause mischief. And after a trip because they can only do magic within the Volcano, they got their three Smooze Ponies and are being considered Teachers from Hayvard Unicornitivisty. And the comic ends with them showing up, and not a single Generation 1 Character appearing once.

That is a big flaw with this miniseries that everyone has pointed out: for a crossover with Generation 1 there isn’t a lot of Generation 1. We have daughters of G1 villains who look more Equestria Girls. We have minor references with nothing major like pictures of their mothers and Grandma. And not a single pony from the movie. You could literally rewrite the dialogue and you would never think of this as a crossover comic.

Another thing I’ve seen others bring up is how the comic HEAVILY references the show. Like you can overlay a screenshot and it looks like it was traced. I don’t mind because I think it is more of a reference thing that someone took way too seriously. Either that or they rushed it to get it out before G5. I only bring this up because one scene in the comic kind of looks and sounds like Evil Starlight, despite explaining why they’re overworked.

And sadly, this problem will continue to exist next issue...
